Very nice hotel, just a short walk from the main night market tourist area. The hotel is clean and in a quiet street. Room was cleaned daily. I have stayed in this hotel before and will stay again on my next holiday to Chiang Mai.

Nice stay, check in was quick and easy. Room was spacious and clean. Hot water and a couple of English TV channels. Breakfast was made to order and you are given a lot. Staff are friendly and location is good to the night market and within location of many trips for hotel pick up and drop off.

Room come with breakfast, simple but OK. Bedroom is spacious for three. Bathroom heater very hard to adjust, most of time water is cold. The water tap is not working well. Walkable to night market and local street food. Generally a simple n clean hotel in the 'kampong area'.

The bedroom was quite dim due to the lighting being of the concealed variety and the fact the patio door window was quite small and in shadow. No tea, milk or coffee supplied, although there was a kettle. Having said all this the room was comfortable enough once we got used to these quaint vagaries! Obtained some excellent speeds on the broadband.

Nice clean hotel that is not too far from local attractions if you have transport. Breakfast needs to improve as there is not much choice available. Wifi and TV had a weak signal which the hotel staff dealt with. Bathroom was a small for 2 people. Room was cleaned daily and I will stay here again.

The hotel is nice and clean. The room has a nice shower, air conditioning, and good WiFi. Nice breakfast too. The only downfall is that in the back of the hotel not even 20 ft away is a chicken coop witj 15-20 chickens and 3 roosters. The roosters would crow at 3:30am everyday until 11am.. it will be very hard to sleep if you’re a light sleeper. Other than that, it’s a clean, nice hotel. Idk if I’d stay there again knowing the crowing roosters in the early am.

Selected this hotel from 2015 stay and was very quiet. This time construction was occurring 2 days starting at 8:00 am until 3 pm. Walls were pounding throughout the entire hotel. Best to call in advance.Buffet breakfast was below average for this level of hotel. Has changed appearance since 2015 and not quite as pleasant.

The hotel is a bit off the main area but easily reachable by walk to the old city wall. What made my experience special with Nordwind is the staff. They are extremely helpful and their services were exceptional. Thank you all!

Excellent value. Hotel is modern and very tastefully decorated. Bed very comfortable. Very good selection on tv. My only constructive comment is they need to improve their breakfast and staff supporting. Stayed 2 days. Both days food needed replenishing. The receptionist at front desk had to scurry to kitchen help out. Some additional items would be welcomed. Otherwise, a very nice place for the money.

Great stay (1 week). Very good breakfast, if you get the chance have a chat to the lovely cook, she’s great. Hotel staff were good. One young lady was there most of the time and spoke good English, the others were a bit hit and miss. Got a transfer from the airport, they couldn’t accommodate me to the airport at the end of my stay due to no driver, but happily arranged a taxi for me. NOTE: taxi from airport to city only costs 150tb, set by regulators. Good aircon, WiFi died one day but was fixed by evening time as they said in lobby.
Very very good budget hotel! Great to walk the area around the hotel and watch normal Thai life for families. Get laundry done down the end of the road (40m) cheaper than hotel.

Overall, an excellent hotel. Extremely convenient location once we figured out the geography of Chiang Mai. Reception staff was helpful although some of the information they provide us on visiting Mai Salong and Mai Reem was not accurate. With a little common sense, this is an excellent budget hotel for a brief stay in Chiang Mai (my second visit).

Reserved 2 rooms with spa tubs just to find out it was false advertisement. Would not let us have a refund, resorted to calling Thai police but still had to shell out an extra $1000 baht for what we thought we had paid for in the first place. Wasted 2 hours of our time, will not recommend to anyone.

Good- Room big, everything pretty clean. As much as you can eat at breakfast and it pretty good! Plus hotel has motor bikes and bicycles to rent! Bad- hotel pretty old needs modernised,. The double bed was two singles pushed together that kept drifting apart, the sink in the bathroom didn’t drain, and the hotel could not get us a taxi! Ordered 5 hours in advance, and the staff told us could not get and walked away. Had to run into town and get own! The inability of a hotel to get guests a taxi for airport drops major points! Overall for the money can’t complain but def nothing special.

The hotel is very nice. The only negatives were:
-Roosters in the adjoining property on the South Western side start crowing about 6am.
-The room was advertised on Expedia to include a private spa tub and city view, neither of which were factual.

The suite we booked was absolutely beautiful. Spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was the best I've had in Thailand. Highly recommend this hotel. It's a very central location as well and the breakfast was great.

I was greatly disappointed in this hotel. The front desk did not speak English well, so that was a bit difficult to try and arrange for a taxi to the airport. When we did finally get them to understand they quoted us an outrageous price. (Note to travelers: Uber is available in Thailand, check out what their pricing is to help you negotiate.) We then asked for a tuk tuk and the price they quoted was higher than what Uber had. So I told them no thanks and then he asked what price did we want to pay and then he found a tuk tuk...Seriously, I have to negotiate price with the front desk? You would think they would be looking out for us... The other major negative was the wifi--we had to go back to the front desk four times to get new passwords to get on wifi. And the breakfast was never ready at 7, so we didn't get to eat it as we had to leave by 7:30 each morning. For the price you can find a lot better options

Everything about this hotel was in line withat the amount we paid for. My wife poured some sugar drink down the sink and next day we had a few little bugs, but I'm pretty sure it was our fault. Other than that everything was pretty good, even the morning breakfast was fine. I would stay here again because it's great value

The first impresion when we arrived, was of schocking! The neighborhood is very poor and dirty. Next to the hotel is a schack were people live in dirty conditions!
The hotel itself, is old and run down. Only the hallway to the rooms, look ok. TV doesn't work properly! It is loud from the dogs and roosters during the night and early morning hours! Cold eggs for breakfast!
The only positive thing I can say is the Staff was very friendly and helpful at all times! Great job!

Get what you pay for
Good price for clean room and nice working showers. Best way to describe the layout of the room is awkward. Breakfast was cold and was not fulfilling. We ended up going out for breakfast. No one was ever at the cafe so that was weird and the latte tasted like hot milk without any coffee..

Everything was excellent. I would recommend anyone to stay here. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We were even able to check in at 9am. Our room was exceptionally clean and tidy. The only thing it lacked was a pool and gym.

Its a 10-15 minute walk (through alleys) to the Old City, Tha Phae Gate, however you have to walk in dark alleys at night. There are no side walks in these alleys and you have to share the alleyway with cars and dogs.

Free but crappy internet
I do not think the people who help run the hotel speak much English and thus were not helpful with travel questions. Also, the cleaning of the rooms were at random times and thus could not be timed in advance. The biggest issue was probably the wifi, which was extremely spotty.

Seen improvements in the hotel
Stayed in this hotel since it started operating. This is my 4th stay and have observed the hotel management has made some improvements. The initial single plate of simple western breakfast has been replaced with a buffet spread of western and Asian dishes with the addition of congee, fried rice and chicken wings (tasted delicious).
The junior suite is still as clean and the hotel hardly seen any mosquitoes around, which is a great effort on the part of the hotel management. However,the bathroom still lack of clothes hanger and towels hanger. The queen size bed is too soft to sleep on.
Quite a number of the tuk tuk driver and red truck driver is more familiar with this hotel location now, else just tell them to drive further in and turn right after Winner Inn hotel and will get to Nordwind hotel.
The junior suite is still as clean and the hotel hardly seen any mosquitoes around, which is a great effort on the part of the hotel management. However,the bathroom still lack of clothes hanger and towels hanger. The queen size bed is too soft to sleep on.
Quite a number of the tuk tuk driver and red truck driver is more familiar with this hotel location now, else just tell them to drive further in and turn right after Winner Inn hotel and will get to Nordwind hotel.

Good to return to Nordwind hotel after a year away from Chiang Mai. The hotel is clean, modern, and my superior room was nicely furnished. I like the quiet location, just a short walk from the night bazaar restaurants and nightlife of Loi Kroh road.

I paid `£20 a night for this hotel which was very clean, good shower, spacious room, great air con, comfortable bed and quiet location so I got a great nights sleep.
It's a 10 minute walk from the walled city and a 10 minute walk from the night market, very safe walk or around 100 bhatt in a taxi, tuk tuk.
The staff were lovely, very helpful.
If I went back to Chaing Mai on my own I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again as it ticked all the boxes for me.

Nice little hotel! Really good buffet breakfast in the morning. They helped us book excursions. We also got our laundry done by them which was great.... A lot of taxis and tuktuk don't know how to find it though.

I took the junior suite i the seventh floor. One side of the room were completely glass. Very nice view, especially in the night. Big good king-size bed, LCD TV switchable between looking from living room part an bed. good idea!

Good for the price
The Hotel is located between the south east corner of the old town and the night bazaar. Both are in walking distance, however be prepared to walk through some unpleasant areas. The hotel had some cockerels for neighbours which were on time to wake me up at dawn! The rooms were nice for the price, lacked tea/coffee but did have a kettle... Staff were helpful enough to give us the coffee after some explanation.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Nordwind Hotel. The location was walking distance to the city center and many of the city's main attractions. The staff was very helpful and kind- they helped us book some of our day trips around Chiang Mai. The room was not overpriced and was exactly what we were looking for. We recommend this hotel and would use it again for visiting Chiang Mai.

Rooms are clean and hotel is pretty modern. The staff was nice. BUT the location is terrible (in a run down area, not readily known by cab drivers). The amenities advertised included a pool, which doesn't actually exist (false advertisement). The walls are very very thin. You can hear everything and in our case our neighbor's intimate moments.

Back room faces field of loud roosters. Bathroom had small leak not tended to. Wifi worked well. Residential neighborhood with cafes and street food but 15 minute walk to business street. Very noisy next door for one night. Can hear voices and loud noises through thin walls. One of the newest and cleanest 3 to 4 star hotels I stayed in in 4 weeks in southeast Asia.

Only stayed one night but it was very nice. Good comfy bed and bedding, very good bathroom and shower. Breakfast was standard -does what is expected. Location isn't great but a minutes walk round the corner and there's a street with song taews and tuk tuks. Customer service is a bit poor- they have a price list for motorbike hire but they wouldn't arrange it for me, check in was slow and most staff English is poor. There were a lot of loud mouthed Chinese families staying at the time which was annoying but overall a very nice hotel. A good 4/5 for me

Room and washroom were clean. Water pressure in the shower very good. Breakfast was above average. Staff were smiling and willing to assist. The two ladies at the front desk were efficient. Hotel is well located. Good value for the price.

I have stayed this hotel 2 times, I thought, this hotel was too far from town, but I would change my mind, it's not so far after I knew short cut route from this hotel to town. I booked for one night and wound up staying for 4 days because I thoroughly enjoyed it. The building is relatively new so everything is up to date and modern. The staff speaks decent English and they are very helpful. They even found a room for me when one wasn't showing up on hotels.com .

The hotel is located in a residential Thai neighborhood filled with regular folks. Depending on your likes, this can be negative or positive. The building is a fair distance from the old city and the night bazaar area; about a 20 to 30 minute walk to either. You can rent a scooter downstairs or have them call a cab for you. I like walking and felt safe even at night, though the neighborhood does feel a bit isolated and dark after 12ish.
Be aware that you might hear roosters in the morning or buzzing insect from outside at night because there is an overgrown lot next door and the neighborhood is residential.
A potential negative is no local calls from your room. But staff will lend you their phone downstairs to use.
Overall, this place is a fantastic deal, especially given the price.

Fantastic hotel! Very spacious rooms, very comfortable. The bathroom was amazing! Loved the shower! Perfect views of the mountains. We stayed 3 nights and rented a motorbike from the hotel as it was a bit far from restaurants and shopping, taxis and sorngtaos didn't really come by. Motorbike rental was fair priced, 250baht per day. Great selection of bikes and they delivered to your hotel. The only thing we weren't keen on was the breakfast, not worth the extra money! Everything was cold, poor selection of food, just completely not worth it. But loved the hotel! Staff were fantastic, really helpful. Laundry on site. We absolutely will stay here for our next trip!

Such a lovely hotel in a nice neighborhood close to the city center. Very comfy and clean room. They need to improve the wi-fi quality as you need to make quite a few attempts before it connects you and also need some more fresh options to be added to the breakfast.

Hotel was excellent value for the money. The rooms were spacious and the bed quite comfortable. The bathroom was clean as we're all of the facilities on the grounds. One thing that is missing is a room safe and therefore I carried all of my important documents with me which I don't like to do. The hotel is located close to the main nightlife area but I found it a little tricky navigating from the hotel to the old city. I found the breakfast on par with other Thai breakfasts at other hotels I stayed and more than satisfying. If it were not for the fact that there was no safe in the room and could use a swimming pool I would have given this hotel a 4.5

We were here for 4 nights and had a good stay. The staff were a little shy but they were friendly and polite when we spoke to them. The rooms were nicely decorated and comfortable. Not quite as clean as you'd expect from the look of the hotel, but still cleaner than most places we stayed in Thailand. The breakfast had a good selections and the chef cooks our eggs right in front of us. The \"warm\" food wasn't kept heated though, so if you don't eat it right when they bring it out it will be cold. Loved the neighbourhood! Well lit at night, close to the inner city and many fantastic Thai food stalls!
