Dated building and ancient TV but great staff. My room had no fridge unfortunately but they let me use one in the reception area. Easy check-in/check-out. Good wi-fi.

Missing Reservation

I made my reservation 1 day in advance. I was told by the receptionist that my booking was not inform to him. I showed him my confirmation and he said that his manager usually notifies him but she was in Beijing. I was allow to stay (Thankfully) he said he will confirm with his manager. The next morning I had to catch a really early flight to Krabi and I was told by him that I had to pay for hotel. I had to show him my bank activity and Travelocity account to confirm I paid. The hotel does not look anything like the pictures and Its really in a sketchy street.

A nice, quiet place in a good location close to many things. Some challenges checking in as the older man seemed to have little familiarity with the Roman alphabet. Great cable options, really nice shower, little fridge, comfy bed. Good price.

The superior room is awesome!

We spent a little extra for the recently updated \"Superior\" rooms, and it was very nice. The WiFi was also really fast... especially in the restaurant. They also had free coffee and toast in the mornings which was great. The staff were all terrific and we loved the relaxing feel of the place...the restaurant/lobby area is so peaceful with a small fountain outside.

Nice quiet place

Pleasant staff. The room is cozy. Very clean and the rooms are cleaned daily. Toast and coffee included with your rent. Eggs and a meat are very reasonable price as well. Many restaurants and shops within walking distance. Only negative, is that there is no elevator. Good Wi-Fi signal.

Close to the Sunday market and lots of restaurants

Older rooms, but clean sheets and decently quiet. Kind staff with smiles. Away from the main road so it's more quiet, but walking distance to many restaurants and the Sunday market. Always a tuk tuk waiting outside. Toast and jam and coffee for breakfast. We would reccomend for an afordable stay that is centrally located.

Good location, clean and friendly a good budget

Staff were really friendly, the ladies on reception were very funny and always smiling,
We stayed on the 5th floor the room had colourful decor but the fixtures and fittings could do with a tidy up repair, so don't expect luxury, the bed was quite firm , but for the money it was fine , no point paying lots of money out for a nice room when you will only be in it for a few hours , it was very clean and that's all that matters , hotel is in a great location for the old town and that area has lots of good places to eat , if you want to stay away from the tourist areas and all the chaos then eat by the chaing Mia gate area load and of food stalls , and for a nice chilled out bar / coffee food spot the check \"faces\" out its near terracotta showrooms near chaing Mia gate . Explore the little side streets in old town away from traffic , Asia scenic farm cookery course brilliant , and the only elephant visit you should do is elephant nature park , please don't ride elephant, if you must them at least watch a video on how they train them first . Taxi from airport 160 B , or book über as it might save you huge queue, we used über to get round and was fine , go see temple on top of mountain and if your fit you can walk down pilgrim route. All in all good little budget hotel nice quite location clean and friendly staff :)

Good location, rude staff.

Rux Thai was in such a good location, we were able to easily walk to all the sites we wanted to see in the city and was a short walk away from great bars and restaurants.
However, we did find the staff rude and unhelpful. The room was as we expected for this price however the building overall was rundown and the lobby did not smell good. Once we had made it through the lobby at night we were happy in our room!

This place is ok.. it is in a great location so we didnt spend much time in the room. When we first arrived our room smelled like rotten eggs and gasoline (something outside) but we asked to switch and they were very accommodating. Definitely value for money

Pleasant Stay with Family - Rated 31/2 *

We were out every day (9 - 14 hours Per Day) were just glad to get back to Hostel for rest and then off to Night Markets.
Some times difficult to catch a Tuuk-Tuuk but the walk did us good.
Breakfast was Fantastic - we had same every day and the kids especially Sam Doubled up. (Loved It)

Cheap and clean.

Great fan and strong aircon which is essential when staying in Chiang Mai! Really good wifi strength and good value for money.
The bedroom did look similar to the photo online, however it was older and more dated than what we expected. This was the same for the bathroom, however the place was clean.
Staff weren't that friendly on arrival and although we'd booked a triple room, we were squeezed into a twin room with three beds and no space to move.
Fine for a short stay.

Adequate and friendly.

Don't expect luxury, but for the price and the location, we found the Rux Thai to be very adequate for our needs and expectations. The staff did their best to meet our requests. Taxi service or tuk tuks were easy to obtain, and the guest house is within easy walking distance from the Night Bazaar.

the bathroom/shower area needed a good deep clean, the mirror was held in place by a toilet roll left by previous guest, the shelf under the mirror had to be tied up to stop it falling down.
the inside of the main room door needed scrubbing as did the window frame which was sticky.
although breakfast was supposed to be available in the lobby, after waiting 30 mins I gave up and went to the guest house 50 yds away and was served quickly and politely each day.

Hotel service was the worse we have run into yet.

Reception look like they dont want to help unless it involes money,

cleaning staff although present through out the whole day will not clean your room until you ask them directly (our room was not serviced once during our 1 week stay(this includes towels amd toiletries)).

Wifi was also horrible, crawling speed, working for about an hour a day.

The room it self was okay at best. A fairly old look with creaky beds and walls that need some serious soundproofing. There is also a loud noise coming from outside the building which sounds like the AC fan but our AC was not used at all.

Location on the other hand wasnt too bad as it is located close to night bazar and city, although roads to the hotel can seem a little dodgy.

Very Pleasant

Very pleasant guesthouse located near the heart of Chiang Mai. It has a comfortable restaurant/greeting area. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Laundry service was timely and inexpensive. Enjoyed the guesthouse design and local feel.

Budget guesthouse in a great location

Rux-Thai is in a convenient location off the main Loi Kroh Soi in Chiang Mai, and not far from the tourist Night Bazaar. There are lots of tourist bars, lots of massage shops, and plenty of women in short skirts encouraging you to come in. In other words, Rux-Thai's location is great for the younger or solo crowd, but probably not what you'd think of as a good family getaway.

Guesthouse was reasonably clean for the price range. In many ways, this will feel like a hostel with private room and bath. You can certainly find other similarly priced guesthouses along this soi. You can also spend a lot more money (without going proportionally better in terms of quality). In short, I would stay here again because I liked the price point.

Don't expect H*lton for M*tel 6 prices and you will be fine. :)

Rux Thai is an inexpensive place to stay in Chiang Mai that is an easy walk to the night bazaar and the inner city. The Thai staff was not overly friendly but was always accommodating and helpful.

Rough at Rux

I stayed at the Rux Thai for 2 weeks and although I got a great deal on Expedia, the old adage of you get what you pay for is true! The room was similar to its pictures but dated. If you have problems with cigarette smoke and incense, do not stay here as incense is burned daily and everything smells of both. The water pressure and temperature in the shower was intermittent. Housekeeping is good about changing sheets and towels on a regular basis but not about cleaning the sink and toilet.
The woman at the front desk was not very friendly and sometimes when I asked a question, I felt like I was interrupting her. I'm not sure how much English she understands as I never really heard her speak except to her staff in Thai.
The walls are extremely thin and the hallways echo especially at night. Don't expect to sleep in as there is ongoing construction in and around the building. Also, housekeeping starts early!
I can't comment on the restaurant as I never ate there. You do get a refrigerator in the room and it is stocked with soda and beer but you're better off buying it at the local 7/11; it's cheaper.
Cabs and tuk-tuks have a hard time finding this place so take your map.

Great value, really quiet. Clean in comparison to other places. Cleaning services and fresh towels daily and bedding. Nice and cool with a fridge/freezer. Near markets and centre. Enjoyed our stay and felt very at home here in the hotel.

Good low-budget hotel

We stayed here for about a week. We have been backpacking for a few months throughout Asia, and so this review is from that perspective -- it was cheaper to stay here as a couple, than at a hostel. The location is just outside the core of the city, but between the city and the night market area. It's easy to walk into the city or to the night market. The hotel itself was decent, though a bit aged. Our room was air conditioned, had hot water and good wi-fi service. The bed was a bit on the firm side, but that's fairly common in Thailand. The room was cleaned daily, and the staff was generally pleasant.

Near the Sunday night bazaar

This hotel was okay. I only stayed one night so didn't spend a lot of time here, but it was adequate. Internet worked. There was hot water in the shower. The room wasn't super clean, there were cobwebs in the corners. The location was near the Sunday night bazaar, maybe 10 min walk, but the roads you walk to get there are pretty dark. As I was taking the taxi from the airport, the driver told me I shouldn't walk by myself there at night.

Run down but meets requirements

At first sight ir's a little run down and kinda dirty looking. However, once in the room, there was actually a division for shower, big bonus in my books, hot water, wifi, so for me, all the essentials covered. It's in the end of the street, the furthest or one of the furthest of the bunch on that street, so depends probably quieter. Service was courteous and I felt my stuff was safe in the room. You can add an extra pad lock if you want. I omited that since I figured it would be a give away to a thief if he was wondering what room to rob.
