Our room had black mold around the bathroom sink. The cleanliness needs improved. Spider webs and dirt/dust on the windows. WiFi was slow and kept cutting off. Breakfast food is cold and coffee weak. I don’t expect much for this lower price, but this was way below acceptable. The location is good, though.

Mae booked a wondeful Elephant sanctuary tour for us and was helpful in explaining best places to go when in Chiang Mai. For the cheap price the hotel was great. Very centeral to do day walks from throught the gate and around rhe city. Close to greatfood spots.

The hotel was prepared for our booking so check in was very smooth. Staff was very helpful and met all our needs. The front desk staff assisted with tour plans and made good suggestions. Our room was clean and well equipped. It is older facility but for the price it was a very good deal. The breakfast was very similar to our other Thai hotels. The room is equipped with a mini frig with bottle water replenished daily. The location was outstanding between old town and the night market. It is near many restaurants and bars.

Good location, but some things could stand to impr

We've stayed here before, but this stay reminded us why we'll choose differently in the future. The property is well situated, a reasonably short walk to the ThaPhrae gate in Chiang Mai and close to a number of restaurants bars and coffee shops. Rooms are adequate, and the price is reasonable enough. Breakfast buffet is very ordinary, and they've switched to a wonky Wi-Fi system that requires constant re-entering of login/password, and there were times when it just didn't function. There is a decent swimming pool, but the overall feel of the hotel is of one that has seen its better day. Parking is available, which was one reason I booked here again, but because of a major storm, we decided at the last minute to take a bus instead of driving.

Good location, skip the breakfast

We returned to the Wangburapa Grand in Chiang Mai in part because of its proximity to the interesting Tha Phae Gate area of the old city, which is near quite a few restaurants, cafes and bars, though construction near the hotel makes walking on the Mun Mueang Road sidewalk a bit treacherous. The front desk staff was friendly enough but kept trying to sell us on Chiang Mai tours we weren’t interested in. The hotel itself is a bit dated, but generally acceptable, though a large Florida-sized cockroach (we used to call them palmetto bugs) invaded one of our bathrooms. And the breakfast buffet was a real comedown after the nice one we had in the Bangkok hotel we had just left, with pretty bad coffee, cold fried eggs and otherwise boring fare. The four of us didn’t use any of our breakfast coupons after the first day.
The hotel does have a decent pool.

When i called the front desk for the wifi code she told me she was too busy and hung up the phone. I turned out the old lamp and it didnt work. Disappointing stay

Although expectations should be tempered for a budget hotel like this, I was surprised at how bad the state of my room was. Upon arrival the toilet was clearly not cleaned, because after the room had been made up the following day the toilet's appearance completely changed from a dark brown hue to white. During the first night I also found a cockroach in the shower - evidently there was little to no effort in cleaning the bathroom before my arrival. To make matters worse, the A/C unit was completely ineffective (I had the cool setting to the max at 17 degrees Celsius and it felt like 30 degrees). Very disappointing even considering the low price - I will most definitely not be staying here the next time I'm in Chiang Mai.

Black mold in my shower. Lazy housekeeping, wont use bleach to clean grout which was black from mold.

Beds were hard as rocks, the floor would have been softer.

Breakfast buffet was exactly the same boring food each morning. Not really good.

Walls are very thin, despite no smoking signs everywhere, guests were all smoking in rooms which stank. Not hotels fault.

People were always talking loudly in the hallways, a lot of loud Asian guests stay here.

Only plus is good location.

The location of the hotel is good, close to the city centre, several temples and the night market.

Too much of a business hotel for my taste. The guy at the reception was not welcoming at all, kept watching cartoons on the computer. The kids pool was too deep for my 2-year-old. There is no garden or other play area for children. The hand soap made my hands peel off. Otherwise, clean, in a good shape, good location and good breakfast.

The hotel is a bit dated - but it is clean and adequate - the pool area is small - but the water is crystal clear. The rooms are large and serviced every day. This is my second stay. It's location is good - only a short 150baht taxi ride from the airport (fixed price).If you use the Red open backed taxi's the fare is only 30 baht anywhere around the city - and they will pick you up and drop you off anywhere. Also only a 15 minute walk to the night market and some local temple's.There's also a good bar just 2 minutes away. It's not the Ritz - but it's clean - comfortable - and the price is good. I would happily stay here if I come back to Chiang Mai

Amazing budget hotel!

If you are looking at paying £20 per night then you cannot complain about this hotel - it is amazing for the money. Good size rooms, comfortable firm mattress (although we didn't like the pillows) hot water in the shower, great A/C, wifi, toiletries, and a swimmimg pool! The pool is not exactly a beautiful setting but it functions, it's clean, and the poolside area has the sunshine all day. Location is right in the thick of it but not at all noisy. If I was looking for a budget option in Chaing Mai again I would stay here again, definitely!

This hotel was conveniently central to the beautiful city that is Chiang Mai - surrounded by a variety of attractions, restaurants and bars.

The customer service was average.
I remember Eggki as being the most helpful staff member throughout my stay.

It is worth paying a little extra for the deluxe room due to the impressive space on offer - the room furnishings are rather old fashioned and the the bathroom is very basic.
I'd recommend choosing a room street-side rather than pool-side due to the street-side offering a better view.

The swimming pool is to a good standard.

I would recommend to those staying in Chiang Mai for the first time due to the affordable price and convenient location.

When I asked to get a room with a window I was told that would cost extra because “standard rooms do not have windows”. When I told them their website does not say anything about a window costing extra and I was upset about being deceived, they gave me a room with a window. However, after that bumpy start I had a lovely stay.

On paper this hotel was perfect for my needsand when I checked in and saw the room I was pleased with my choice, very good for the price.
When I sat on the bed and it was the hardest mattress I'd ever encountered. It was late and we'd been traveling so we showered and went to bed for a dreadful nights sleep.
Next morning asked the desk about another room and was told all the matresses are the same.
a shame everything else was fine but I cannot recommend this hotel to enyone.

OK for a night or two!

It was a very OK hotel. We weren’t expecting much - just needed a place near old city to access nearby locations, temples etc. This location is a short walk to the night market; ride away to several temples and monuments. Although we didn’t have breakfast there, the food didn’t look very appetizing. I remember the wi-fi was funky – at a time, we could connect only 1 device and the other would drop. I do have to mention 2 things: 1. the hotel travel desk in the lobby – what a service! The person there hooked us up with a tour service to the elephant sanctuary at a very short notice and at a moderate price. It became the highlight of our trip. Definitely recommend at least a chat. 2. The corner restaurant – we had breakfast there both days. Very good food (continental); although it’s by the side of the street, it has a very green, cozy feel to it. Definitely recommend for families.

We had just arrived from a trek in the jungle and needed a hit shower. The man showing us to our room saw the air conditioning didn't work. he replaced the batteries but still didn't work. We had no hot water for a shower. That night while out they fixed the air conditioning but not the hot water. it was a switch under the shower that needed to be flicked. Not difficult but we didn't know it was there. Took two asks for it to be looked at. Beds are also incredibly hard.

Amazing value. Staying 8 days with kids we wanted a comfortable place that was nice to hang around in without breaking the budget. This place offered two linked room with 4 breakfasts per day for 1500 baht a night leaving us plenty to spend on days out. The rooms were big enough and close to tourist class you could pay 3 or 4 times more for. Just wasn't quite luxury and the staff English isn't great. Pool is small and not heated, but fine for the kids. Superb location for old town. No restaurant or room service but 100s of restaurants + wats and museums all walkable. Couldn't expect any more for a hotel of this price.

I had booked a triple room, my friends cancelled and I arrived 2 days early. The manager said they had no idea of my booking I gave them my confirmation and they then agreed I could have a double for my stay. They would not reimburse me for the extra I paid for a triple. I had blood stains on a pillow,I asked for more pillows and was told no. The staff were unhelpful, the breakfast was tasteless and repetitive. The swimming pool was small and the stairs were loose. The sunbeds had no cover just bare wood. There was no food or cafe as advertised. I did see some thai people get room service but none offered to us.

Ya, all good, nothing to complain about. The place was clean, cheap, quiet. The staff were nice and friendly.

The breakfast was good, except everything on the hot table was cold.

I really liked the funky green tiles and green stained glass in the bathroom.

The pool was small but big enough. It had sun all day and had a shower and bathroom onsite. I'd stay here again.

Amazing hotel staff!

The staff at the Wangburapa were amazing, especially the front desk staff and the 2 cleaning ladies who cleaned the 3rd floor of the hotel. The wifi in the hotel room was quite frustrating at times (kept on kicking us out and had to re-login again after just a few minutes, time and time again) Breakfast was average, but the area around the pool received lots of sun...great for tanning! In total, we ended up staying for 10 days and if I ever visit Chiangmai again, I'd definitely stay at the Wangburapa again!

It was fantastic! Attentive and helpful staff, perfect laundry service, helped book tours and other activities, walking distance to the night market and many temples and the cherry on top is their lovely pool! The in room massage was THE WORST! I cancelled it half way through because it was so bad and they still made us pay almost full price. The breakfast was alright, lots of Thai dishes and limited western options but it's free so I shouldn't complain.

O que fiquei agradecido foi pela hospitalidade, todos os recepcionistas muito simpáticos, chegamos cansados de um voo de Bangkok e mesmo fora do horário do check in a a moça foi gentil e deixou a gente entrar, quartos espaçosos e limpos, gostei de ter levado meu grupo pra lá, próximo ano quero voltar com mais pessoas
