Great little hotel in the Old City

Villa Sirilanna was a great option. Close to many destinations in the old city. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast each morning was excellent.
Rooms are large and very comfortable. No washlets. Yet they have a hose for each toilet.
AC was great and they were very accommodating. We extended our stay with the, because we were so hay.

We stayed in the junior suite and it was a beautiful and extremely clean room! You just have to be very careful with opening doors as there were lots of mosquitos in the room, even when being careful. The staff came to spray the room when we asked however, which worked for a night.
The breakfast was ok, nothing spectacular.

The villa is very conveniently located, at the heart of the old town, walkable to most attractions and just 3 minutes walk to the weekend night market street. Staff is friendly, and a tour desk is situated at the front lobby. The room is spacious, with nice balcony. Unfortunately the jacuzzi in the room is not in working condition, towels are a bit old, and breakfast choices are limited. Overall experience is good.

After finding this little gem I always stay here when traveling to Siem Reap twice a year. It’s like a little jungle retreat not far from the city center. I love the quiet relaxing atmosphere away from the busy areas. It’s safe, clean and the staff are amazing. I find the price very reasonable and always look forward to my next stay.

Stay here for the most pleasant Chiang Mai trip!

My wife and I were blown away by the generosity and helpfulness of the hotel staff. After finding out that we were traveling for our honeymoon, they upgraded our room to a gorgeous suite at no cost to us and were always dropping everything to help when we were around. Our trip was during the new year, and the staff even invited us to a bountiful hotpot meal with them to celebrate. Their kindness was the icing on the cake for our time in Chiang Mai and I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

I cannot say enough about the hospitality and service we received from concierge/manager of Sirilanna. I wish I knew his name, but he really went all-out to make sure we had everything we needed/wanted. It is a small, older hotel but absolutely beautifully adorned and will a quaint, authentic feel- almost like a B&B. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

Really beautiful and comfortable hotel. The traditional decor looks great, and everything was clean and well maintained. Amenities include free airport shuttle, free breakfast with made to order eggs and a good variety of Thai and Western items, jetted tubs and balconies in the higher end rooms, free bottled water. Oh, and the location is perfect--right in the middle of Old City, walking distance to pretty much everything. I would definitely stay again if come back to Chiang Mai (which I hope I do, it's an amazing city).

Beautiful hotel with a very friendly staff. Worth staying here for the wood-working alone. Gorgeous! The rooms are quiet, spacious and luxurious. The property is well located in Old Sq. Next to and in the middle of everything. I’m sad to leave but will stay here again on a trip back to Chiang Mai.

It was impossible to sleep at night because of the corner bar across from the hotel. Very loud music and a lot of crazy drank people yelling and screaming and there is no way you can sleep or even rest till past after midnight.

Great friendly staff. Overall a good value but issues with hot water in the shower. Several showers were cold or Luke warm which negatively impacted our comfort. The hotel room was very spacious and had beautiful wood accents. Location in Chiang Mai was very good. We walked around most of the old city with ease. breakfasy was delicious and included several Thai dishes and made to order eggs.

The room was beautiful and had a great jacuzzi bath. Breakfast was included and was delicious. We also got inexpensive thai massaged while we were there.

The hotel itself is BEAUTIFUL, the decor everything just immediately makes an impression as soon as you walk in the pool area is amazing, you can get massages on the property. My sister was fascinated by the koi fish and the staff was kind enough to let her feed them. As soon as we checked in the staff was so friendly, the hotel is very clean, the breakfast was DELICIOUS. If I ever find myself in Chiang Mai again no doubt this is where I will stay. I was so happy with everything.

Wonderful hotel!

Absolutely loved our stay here! The hotel has a lot of charm with all the carved wood. The bed was comfortable and the room quite large. The breakfast was very good with made to order eggs, bacon, and sausage. The pool area was quite nice. The pool itself was quite chilly (as expected in Thailand) but refreshing after some time in the sun.

Only 2 slight negatives to the place.

1. Sound carries a lot through the doors (which are beautiful but apparently not sound prood). We had a room adjoining ours and could hear the conversations and music of our neighbors. The hotel is generally quiet so it wasnt a huge issue. My husband got a fan from the front desk and hat drowned out any unwanted noise at night.

2. The water in the shower or bath takes abour 10 to 20 minutes to get warm any time of day besdies morning and even then only gets lukewarm. So if you want a nice hot shower after bathing with elephants, be prepared to wait and have a lukewarm rinse off. But when we showered in the morning, we had no issues.

Besides those 2 small things, our stay was heavenly! Highly recommended.

Had 2 issues (one with them doing laundry nexr to our room all night, and the jetted tubs faucet was backwards ie hot, cold were reveresed) both issues resolved quickly and with smiles. Rooms cleaned daily. Only thing we didn't like was the breakfast offered. Being Vegan my only option was toast and fruit.

We booked 3 tours based on her recommendations and our desires and they were all perfect ( riverboat dinner, elephant sanctuary, and thailands tallest mountain). The hotel location was absolutely perfect. Walking distance to everything we needed and desired. And again the staff aas absolutely wonderful, which was very nice. They were all young, which made the service given much more nice. Wonderful and perfect lication.

A little oasis

The hotel has a great location, close to the gate and in walking distance to many temples. Likewise there are many shops and places to eat/drink.

The reception staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble.

The room was spacious and had beautiful traditional furniture. The pool area was like a little oasis, very relaxing! I would definitely stay at Villa Sirilanna Hotel again and would recommend it to others.

Give it a miss!!

The Room was dirty. The mirror had other people’s toothpaste on it, the tiles in the shower were filthy, there were stains all around the sink and the bath was disgusting.

We ran the bath to find brown water coming out and no hot water. I went to reception where they told me to run the tap for 10 minutes. After 10mins the water was just about warm enough to have a bath. The bath took 1hr to fill as the pressure was so low. When we finally turned on the jets, a load of grime came out!

The pool is lovely but the rooms are far from 4star!

Nice rooms. Good AC. Bed were ok. A little on the harder side. Breakfast was pretty underwhelming. The omelette station was great but outside of that and a small selection of fresh fruit it was disappointing. This is a common theme in the hotel reviews so we weren’t surprised. The location is excellent. We loved Mr. Kai’s Khao Soi up the street. Super close to the Sunday Walking market. Over all for that price, I expected the service to be better. The staff were friendly but there was zero extra effort. No one asked how things were, if we needed anything. Seemed there were more interested in what was happening on Facebook. One last thing was that we booked because the hotel said it was non smoking. This isn’t the case. One guest enjoyed smoking cigars at the pool which meant no swimming or sitting on our balcony until we could breath fresh air. All in all, I would say this is a 3.5 out of 5.

This was our second stay here. We thought it was perfect last time but somehow they had managed to improve it. Our room was huge and extremely comfortable with lots of little extras. The bed was beautifully decorated when we arrived-towel swans and rose petals-and was also very comfortable. There was plenty of storage space, a lovely seating area, a furnished balcony and an amazing bathroom. The artwork was wonderful too. Breakfast was excellent and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for sight seeing and there are lots of fantastic eating places nearby. Our favourite was The Corner, exactly, opposite the hotel. The money exchange booth on the other side of the road gave the best rates too. The hotel even provides a free transfer to the airport. This is a wonderful place to stay in a lovely city.

Firstly, those staffs there were really nice and friendly! They all carrying lovely smiley faces and always show their initiative!
I love the hotel style, rather than the modern design, it was traditional Thai style!
However, the facilities inside the room were “old” too! Those really needed to repair! For e.g.the jacuzzi bathtub was the selling point of the room, however, I should say it was really dirty, the outlet kept spilling out some dirt and tiny metal debris! The water tap on the jacuzzi was loose, and it was easy to come off if someone really use it carelessly! I was really scared there was a fountain came out during my stay! And most disappointed me was the toilet flushing system, once the first flush in the morning, it seems no water refill to the water tank again, I needed to refill the toilet’s watertank by myself before flushing the toilet !
Overall, the environment and the staff were nice! However, those facilities inside the room really really need to repair!

Great Service all throughout the stay!!

The hotel was great. The rooms were big, the bathrooms were huge and had a great facilities and perfected located amongst restaurants. However, the one thing that stood out the most for me was the initiative the team took to go over and above. For example, I requested an airport pick up but unfortunately they weren't there to pick us up, though when we arrived they were extremely apologetic and without me prompting anything, they straight away gave me the money I paid for the taxi. That was great!!! Also, we were leaving very early for our flight (before breakfast open). And they organise pre made breakfast for us to takeaway and call then night before check out to see what we wanted. They just really went over and above and it's this type service why I proudly take the time to give feedback. Thanks again for a great stay.

This hotel has a great location in the old city, but the good feedback ends there. Once inside, we saw that it is an old outdated hotel. Then, almost zero service. It almost seems like the manager quit and no one is in charge. We paid for an upgraded room and got a horrible room. When we complained about it, the staff offered nothing and didn't even try to act like they cared. Breakfast was appalling. While it did have some reasonable looking dishes, things were either cold or items were left out with a ton of flies around and in it, and nobody seemed to care. Then, there was always a bunch of staff in there hanging around and eating. Some without uniforms. Very uncomfortable. This hotel needs a manager and staff training, badly. We were frustrated that it received such high review scores, something happened since then.

Very unique hotel, lots of more authentic details. Wood work was beautiful. The padlock for doors was different. Room was large and had lots of space. The walls were paper thin, bring ear plugs. They could use quiet hours with the jacuzzi tubs, That was not pleasant at 4 am each morning. Could also hear conversations from room next to us. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Pool was very cold. Did not see anyone use it our whole time. Was too cold for us.

1st Timer in Chiang Mai

Had a great stay at the Villa Sirilanna Hotel .Location was great for exploring Old Chiang Mai City .Restaurants and massages just within walking distance of hotel.Tours to the popular site seeing spots available right from lobby of hotel was very convenient. Buffet breakfast include in our stay was great with a good assortment of dishes to choose from even offering a noodle soup cooked fresh at your request .Omelets made to order along with bacon and sausage if you desire. To our dismay we found a couple of great gelato locations in close proximity of our hotel which left us feeling guilty about the calories we where consuming ...but \" oh well \".I highly recommend a visit to Chiang Mai Zoo if you plan a stay at the Villa Sirilanna Hotel .

The aesthetic and wood furnitures are incredible. There’s some visible wear and tear (esp the jets of the tubs) but overall I enjoyed my stay and would recommend. It’s quite and I’m the Old City. They have free airport shuttles during the day and the staff are very helpful.

The hotel is nice and the staff is extremely friendly and supportive. Breakfast is ok, but a challenge can be the noise level, since the hotel is right next to two roads. This also makes relaxing at the pool not really an option. Quite disappointing was the support of the lady responsible for tours and day trips. She clearly informed us several times that everything would be included in our tour package, even listing all single items. Being on the tour it became obvious that she had excluded activities which we were than required to pay extra. Trying to clarify with her didn’t help anything. She seems to be separate from the hotel however the hotel should make sure only quality service is offered directly on their premises.

A beautiful smaller hotel with an old style feel, super ornate wood furnishings, a nice pool,, breakfast buffet with a range of options from eggs, to Thai dishes and salad. Villa Sirilanna is a nice boutique hotel in a great location, walking distance from beautiful temples, many delicious restaurants, spas, and a large night market. Lobby, grounds, pool and rooms were all clean and beautiful. Breakfast offered a nice selection. The staff were the least friendly staff of any place I have stayed in Thailand and seemed unhappy. Aside from less than warm reception and service we enjoyed our stay very much.

We were delighted to have a deluxe room beside the pool. In our opinion, the room was gorgeous with richly carved expresso wood details. There was a jacuzzi tub and a shower stall. The TV was new with some English channels- you will have to surf though. There was a place for you to sit by the pool in the comfort of your air conditioned room and watch the pool. The staff was exceptional even calling us by our names on the second day and watching for our pick ups. This was a treat. We spoiled ourselves and we are glad that we did. This room back home would have been at least three if not five times the price it was in Chiang Mai.

Had one of the ground level suites opposite pool.
One of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in.

Location in the Old City is great, a good base to explore. The room was very spacious and well equipped – but had to change rooms because the air con didn’t work at first. The original room was huge but very dark (with a padlock instead of a proper door lock?!). Hotel had a lovely old feeling to it though.

Service was so so disappointing. No one responded to emails I sent for a airport pick up. Maybe I’m being picky, but I felt the staff were cold, unwelcoming and didn’t try to be friendly. They wouldn’t let me extend check-out because apparently another guest needed it – but if I pay THB 1,000 (£25/US$30) an hour, I can have it. Breakfast lacked choice and tasted bad. I went ballistic when a tour turned up 30 mins before the scheduled pick up time, and a receptionist told me to get ready “more quickly” when I said I wasn’t ready. Staff in need of serious training.

I spent a bit more to have a really nice stay, but I regret choosing this hotel.

Lovely hotel with a fantastic location.
Staff were great. Breakfast was good. The staff promptly rectified a problem with our shower. Complimentary airport shuttle. Couldn’t ask for more.

Best Experience in Thailand!

An absolutely amazing experience at Sirilanna! Chiangmai was the highlight of our trip to Thailand and Sirilanna is one of the reasons. From the friendly, attentive, English-speaking staff, to the wonderful breakfast buffet (best we had in Thailand) Sirilanna was a first class experience. We stayed at high-end hotels our entire trip, Sirilanna being the least expensive, and we felt we received 5 Star/5 Diamond service from Sirilanna moreso than we did from our other two hotels. Beds are cozy, rooms are big and gorgeous, and the location is unrivaled in old-city. When we return to Chiangmai we know where we will be staying...thanks Sirilanna!

Fantastic Location

The hotel is lovely. Room was spacious and very nicely decorated. Small pool and not many sunbeds but we enjoyed having the pool just outside our bedroom door. The towels are placed on the beds and no spares around so you have to ask if you want another. The staff are OK. We spent a month in Thailand and the breakfast here was the worst we came across. The pastries were dry and un-edible. The staff sit behind the counter and do not come to greet you. The hot selection was very poor. There is a restaurant/cafe just across the road on the corner that does good breakfast. Very good location for markets. Free airport transfer. Overall would recommend and stay again but forget the breakfast.

Gem in Chiang Mai

Absolutely loved this place. Full of character, amazing 4 poster bed, Jacuzzi bath tub and huge walk in shower. The pool was lovely, the staff are so helpful. If I come back to Chiang Mai I will definitely stay here again. Brilliant location, surrounded by nice restaurants not sure what else you could want.

The hotel was amazing. Great location in the city with walking distance to everything. Great staff. The pool area is key! We stayed in the rooms right next to the pool. Spacious, very antique and ornate inside. The property is beautiful.

Mixed feelings

The hotel advertised childcare service and when we tried to arrange it we were simply told “ no we don’t have child care service”. When I pulled up the printed information then we were told that it needed to be prearranged. No where was this mentioned on the hotel’s official website as such we were not able to keep our evening plans and enjoy anything during your evening stay in Chiang Mai. This was a great disappointment and the staff’s disinterest in rectifying the situation deeply sullied our experience. No apologies ever extended and and forthcoming would merely be placating us.

Four days in Chiang Mai

We stayed in a room on the ground floor close to the pool - you could hear the tuk tuks in the street but generally it was very quiet after about 11pm. The hotel itself is in a fantastic location, close to restaurants and bars and it was easy to walk around and find places to eat

Good choice for the hotel

Perfect location for touring around in the old town area, close to many restaurants and massage lounges, walking distance to the centre which has more bars, restaurants and tourist attractions, very convenient.

Staff are well trained, very helpful and patient. The room is clean and decorated with traditional Thai wooden furnitures.

Highlight of this hotel is the free breakfast, the quality of food was impressive.

Highly recommended!

Brilliant stay close to all temples

Great location walking distance to all the temples and sites and just off of the main road of the the Sunday night market.
Hotel was beautifully presented, room was lovely and he pool was great to use after a busy day walking around
