This is a lovely hotel. They have done a great job of keeping it very private and pretty but you’re still near all the action! We loved this spot and I highly recommend it. Staff were helpful and very friendly.

Stayed for five nights in a deluxe room. Room was very clean and the staff were great. Couple of negatives the layout of the swimming pool does not give much room to pass the beds without risking falling in the pool. There is no pool bar that we could find and no restaurant after breakfast time. Given a drinks voucher on arrival but nowhere to redeem.
In the room itself the floors are very slippy (to the point of being dangerous) and the mat they use makes it even worse. There is also no light by the wardrobe – needed a torch to use the safe. Water in the room was always lukewarm in the bathroom.
Really good location but unfortunately would not consider stopping here again.

IF traveling to Chiang Mai make sure one of the nights you stay in the Old City lands on a Sunday night. Biggest night market in Thailand. Amazing experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This hotel was in a great location, tucked away down a side street in the old town. Easy to walk to restaurants, temples, markets etc. Our room was comfortable with a nice balcony overlooking the pool area. The pool area was quite small and shaded by trees. We didn’t use it during our stay because we were doing other things. Breakfast was ok.

Beautiful property. Exactly as advertised. I love how each room overlooks the pool lined with palm trees. It creates a very peaceful and comfortable stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Also, there are some upscale shops and restaurants nearby which is very convenient.

The room was extremely hot when we arrived because the air conditioning only turned on when we inserted our card key. Additionally, there was no elevator, so we had to climb three floors every time we needed to reach our room. The breakfast options were limited and quite basic. On top of all that, they charged 300 TBH when we requested a crib.

Hotel is in a very excellent location - walkable around almost all of the old town. If you’re there on a Sunday (and you should try to be!) the night market is very close by (so close we couldn’t be dropped right at our hotel by our airport taxi! Not a huge problem. Was a very short walk from the night market gate).
Room was huge and had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. Other reviews had mentioned the floors could be slippery which I thought was a strange comment but they weren’t lying! If you have socks on it’s easy to slip so if you have mobility issues or travelling with elderly companions perhaps keep this in mind. (In bare feet not a problem. The floors are lovely and clean just slick!).
Staff at the front desk was great. Breakfast was ok but our last morning we went down the street to a cafe as we were a bit bored. Had an amazing meal there. Chiang Ma has no shortage of great places for coffee and brunch!

location was very good, good size room and bathroom, good shower, breakfast was ok. Only one huge disadvantage for seniors, the hotel has 3 floors but no lift. Unless, the hotel will guarantee you a room in the ground floor, I would not take the risk of getting a room in the upper floors. Strange, a hotel of this category would operate without a lift.

The floors in the room are very slippery to the point of being dangerous. I slipped in bare feet on a dry floor multiple times.
The shower is either cold or boiling and changes between the two constantly.
The breakfast is poor, low cost items with little choice. Out of 6 days we skipped breakfast 4 times.
Great location but definitely not worth the cost. Better options are around.

The rooms were very clean the whole hotel was spotless. The staff were very kind they allow us to have a late checkout which we really appreciated. The whole resort was wonderful. I would recommend this place to anyone and I would come and stay here again. Through out our trip in Thailand this was the only hotel with properly working hot shower.

We really enjoyed our 5 night stay. The hotel was centrally located, and our room, pool, lobby, etc were all great. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast restaurant was nice, but, unfortunately, the food contained in the metal chafing pans was cold as the heat sources were not lit. This was the case for our entire visit. Very disappointing.

Property is in convenient location. Rooms needs some upgrades. In one of our rooms, we had issues with hot water and sink tap was leaking as you open, other than that ,stay was comfortable. The property is in a convenient location, which made our stay easy and accessible. However, the rooms could use some upgrades. In one of our rooms, we experienced issues with the hot water, and the sink tap leaked when opened. Other than that, the stay was comfortable overall.

I had a lovely 3 night stay on a solo trip. The staff were lovely and very help when I needed support with an urgent matter.
The breakfast was fairly standard. I could have used a proper coffee cup rather than a tea cup but that is a personal preference.
Only minus was that I had to take an 8 am meeting outside for better wifi. While I was sitting outside they sprayed for insects and i had to quickly move indoors.

Charming but flawed

Viangluang is an oasis of calm in Chiangmai. It's cozy, and spotlessly clean and has a lot of nice details in terms of decor. It is not a \"resort\" per se, and it can seem quite small (especially the pool area). The breakfast is nice but nothing spectacular, but the staff did provide options if what was presented in the buffet was not to anyone's liking. It's unfortunate that hot showers are not available. Not so bad given the warm weather, but surprising all the same. Also unfortunate that the pool doesn't open until 10 AM. Impossible to have a morning swim.

This was a one night stay to enjoy the Sunday night market and a few Temples on Monday. IMO, it’s a 3 1/2 star hotel. Staff were super kind and the location is fantastic. Room was average size, average quality with walls that were a bit thin. Breakfast was included and average as well. It met our needs for our intentions. For the price and the location I’d stay again.

Loves: our room was very spacious, we had a lovely balcony that overlooked the pool from the 2nd floor, the staff was friendly and helpful, location made it very walkable yet quiet, close to restaurants and shops
Misses: the bed was not very comfortable, the floor is quite slippery in socks so be careful, the pool deck was very narrow making it hard to walk between lounge chairs without falling into the water

Really lovely resort type accommodation in the middle of Chiang Mai old town.
Rooms are a generous size with a very comfortable bed. Other amenities include a mini fridge and coffee making equipment.
The hotel grounds were well kept with lush gardens throughout. The pool was nice.
Breakfast was good.
The hotel is in a really good location right next to the Sunday night markets.

The hotel is great in general, some of the design choices are weird. Lets start with the floor, it is too slippery, socks slide and also the rugs. Bathroom was wrongly setup with shampoo and soap in the opposite side of the shower, trashcan next to the toilet blocking access to seat, finally in my room the hot shower would stop working properly, I didn't even have time to complaint because of activities and only strayiung 2 nights.

Gem in the Heart of Chiang Mai

Amazing stay at a beautiful location with the BEST customer service. One of the ladies at the reception desk literally walked us to a local cleaner for laundry services, where she translated / did the talking for us to the service we needed. She then walked us to the edge of the Sunday Night Market. I wish I could remember her name. She deserves a huge shout out. Everyone greets you with a smile and are very warm. The location is great. It is a short walk to anything and very close to the Sunday Night Market. The hotel itself is excellent. It has an awesome pool, delicious meals, and spacious and comfortable rooms. The only regret we have is that our stay was not longer. It was beyond enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel.

I was traveling with my partner for his birthday and this was our second stay in Thailand. The staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly. The property was very clean and the air conditioning worked very well, really important when it’s so hot outside. The surrounding area was right in the heart of everything. We walked to the temples, markets, restaurants and everything was basically at your front door. We would highly recommend this place and cannot wait to come back again soon! They made us feel so special and welcome. The restaurant makes delicious food and fruit smoothies are incredible and so refreshing. The pool is nice and small so it crowds quickly, but there is so much to do in the area you won’t even miss it. They surprised my fiancé with a cake for his birthday it was such a special place and we were lucky to stay here. It will hold a place in our hearts for sure!

Beautiful sanctuary nestled in heart of Chiang Mai

Beautiful hotel! We arrived in Chiang Mai on the sleeper train at around 7:30am and our checkin was not until 2pm but the hotel were very welcoming and allowed us to store our bags, get breakfast and change our clothes so we could head out for the day until our room was ready. When we did check in staff helped to carry my bags to our room (there is no lift and we were on third floor). Staff also offered to support with booking of tours and we asked for some recommendations on the best white water rafting excursion as there were a few options, they didn’t know which was best but helped us call around providers and were very jovial and helpful. The room overlooking the pool is spectacular, so beautiful, comfortable and we were tempted to extend our stay because we loved the hotel so much. Breakfast was standard and again staff very helpful and attentive. The bed was really comfortable to sleep in and aircon worked great which was a relief as Chiang Mai was especially hot during our stay. Location of the hotel is ideal, it’s adjacent to the main walking street but is tucked away and so serene and tranquil. Definitely include a Sunday evening in your stay if possible to enjoy Chiang Mai’s Sunday Night market. You turn out of the hotel and walk two minutes down the road and find sprawling foods, clothes and goods market that goes on street after street. Viangluang Resort really made our trip to Chiang Mai so special and we would definitely recommend.

I stayed at 7 different hotels on my Thailand trip, and I can say that this was one of my favorite hotels. It’s absolutely gorgeous with lovely amenities and without being a massive size hotel. The staff is helpful. The breakfast was delicious with Thai and western options. The pool sitting area is small, but not a big deal. The pool area is beautiful with lush landscape. But most importantly, my room was gorgeous and extremely clean. The bed is very comfortable, and I loved that the bathroom had both a tub and a separate shower. The decor is just lovely. I enjoyed sitting out on my balcony hearing the birds and viewing stars at night. The location is in old town and is a quick walk to the main roads with plenty of food and massage options. I can’t wait to go back.
