The hotel is in a convenient location, but unfortunately the overall experience was very disappointing. The rooms were not clean and lacked basic facilities that you would expect at this price point. There were also plumbing issues in the room that remained unresolved throughout the stay.

When these issues were brought to management’s attention, the response was not helpful and the problems were not properly addressed. Both the hotel and Expedia eventually offered a $100 refund, but this does not come close to compensating for the experience.

At nearly $300 per night, the value is simply not there. Given the condition of the rooms and the lack of adequate management response, I would not recommend staying at this property.

Beautiful stay in Trastevere. From the staff to the room, everything was dialed in. It’s off the beaten path, but it was perfect for us. 15 minute walk to Vatican City, 6 minute walk to restaurants and drinks.

Benedicta was the mixologist at the bar. She gave us great cocktails and dinner recommendations.

Can’t recommend Horti 14 enough.

This property was exactly what I was looking for in my stay while in Rome. It was very quiet and the grounds were upkept and very lush. I loved the surrounding area for great food at a slower pace than what you’re going to see in the heart of Rome. Better food too in my opinion. The room was super comfortable, clean and had every amenity you could think of. The complimentary water was a great amenity as well. I would certainly not hesitate to stay here again for any future visits to Rome.

Cons:
- we found the bed too hard and quite uncomfortable. It had no give. For this reason alone we can’t give the hotel 5*
- the duvet was very thin. A thicker/heavier duvet would have been nice for the winter
- we had a room with a sofa. But it was more a bed for an extra person. There was no way to sit on it as it was very deep and there were no pillows or cushions. So it was a big room but without really places to sit.

The hotel is beautiful. The location is great for exploring the neighbourhood. There were some little things that could have enhanced the stay but not a deal breakers. An in room coffee maker would have been great, no wine glasses or glassware in the room just paper cups. Great stay in a beautiful hotel with lovely staff.

Room was very clean, looks like recently remodeled. The staff is incredibly friendly and extremely helpful. My only issue is there was no coffee maker of any sort in the room. Guests do not always want to have to go to lobby or wany staff to get coffee or tea. No kleenex in room also. Change those two items and you would get a higher rating. Again, staff is wonderful!

The location was perfect - so close to the busy streets and nightlife of Trastevere. However, whilst we were only a few minutes walk from it all, the hotel was an oasis of peace. The plants were what drew me to book and the gardens didn’t disappoint. A beautiful setting and decor was the perfect accompaniment.
Staff were helpful and nice to speak with each day, particularly at breakfast.
The food was very tasty with a great range of local and more typical breakfast foods.
The room was decorated for our special occasion which was greatly appreciated. Only small issue was with our door handle that came off, but it didn’t cause any issue and the staff were quick to offer help.
Would certainly recommend booking Horti 14.

Don’t stay here, it’s not worth the price

We went for one night with my infant son. There was no air conditioning because apparently all the rooms are on the same circuit and one person had theirs on heat. It must have been 80 degrees in the room. Also, the shower was clogged and so water went all over the bathroom and bedroom floor - we’re taking gallons of overflow. We had to ask several times for towels - it took 8 full size towels to soak it up. On top of that the hair dryer didn’t work!

We asked for a refund because the stay was CERTAINLY not worth $600 per night but they offered a refund of 15 euro. Insulting.

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in September. The staff were wonderful and helped us arrange transport from the airport & a few other things here and there.

Daily breakfast was a nice treat with good variety, setting us up for long days of sightseeing.

The hotel grounds & location were both fantastic, a short walk to the Trastevere neighbourhood. We felt much more comfortable coming back to this area after spending time in the more hectic / busy areas of Rome. The amazing variety plants around the hotel were a wonderful touch and added a lot of charm.

The beds are firm, but comfortable and large showers / bathrooms facilities.

We did have one or two small issues during our stay, but the hotel staff were able to help us out and resolve them quickly.

This hotel was exceptional - from the beautiful layout of the property with all its greenery, to the huge room with the comfiest bed, the impressive breakfast spread to the friendly staff. Even the resident tortoise was charming.

Trastevere is a really lovely area to stay in and this hotel is close enough to the action but also remarkably quiet and private. So close to the river and walkable to central Rome. Will definitely be back!

I had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel in Italy. From the moment I arrived, the team gave me such a warm welcome that immediately made me feel at home. The location is absolutely perfect, and the atmosphere is so peaceful that even my baby slept soundly through the night. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the staff went above and beyond to be helpful and attentive.

A very special thank you to Ramona — she is truly outstanding and made our stay even more memorable. I can’t recommend this hotel enough and look forward to returning on my next visit!

We got a free bottle of prosecco which we enjoyed at the bar with some yummy snacks and a very sweet bartender. The breakfast was incredible! So much better than anything in the states. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Check-in was smooth and quick, and we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary early check-in. The room was spotless, spacious, and tastefully decorated, with comfortable bedding and all the amenities we needed.

The location is perfect – close to great restaurants, shops, and attractions, yet quiet enough to relax after a long day. Breakfast was fresh and delicious with a wide variety of options, and the staff in the dining area were attentive and friendly.

What really stood out was the level of service – every team member we encountered was genuinely warm and eager to help, making our stay feel special. We will definitely be returning and recommending this hotel to friends and family.

While the property was still under renovations so we couldn’t see the finished product, our room was fantastic and staff was super friendly. Breakfast was perfect as well. Only negative is there aren’t any amenities within the immediate area for a quick bite but within 10 minutes so not bad - location was perfect for quick access to airport and almost no traffic so easy for taxi pick up with dedicated motor court.

This hotel felt very much more like a 3* experience.

For a 4* experience, which this hotel lacked, we would have expected: better breakfast, a bar that stays open past 8pm, and some enhanced facilities such as a bath in the room, spa or a restaurant.

We found the breakfast uncomfortable, as there is always a waiter stood by the food watching you eat, almost like a security guard. Waiting staff should be highly attentive but discreet. The coffee was very poor and the omelette my wife ordered was a mess on her plate and was more like scrambled egg with a few cold vegetables thrown in.

Overall, this is a good hotel and we did enjoy our stay. However, the price/ the star rating needs to be adjusted so your experience is more in-line with expectations.

Horti 14 Borgo Trastevere was sublime in all the ways. Staff all fluent in English and super friendly, attentive and efficient. The grounds felt like a botany oasis, green and luscious.

The breakfasts were outstanding. The rooms very clean, modern and equipped. Location peaceful yet well placed.

I will return without a doubt whenever returning to the Roma area, this is a jewel of a destination and stay.

The location and style were great. The tortoise was a delight to meet. Only issues were the lighting in the room was rather harsh, not that relaxing. Other rooms doors closing with a bang, rooms being cleaned at 9am next door.

No tea or coffee making facilities in the room would have been a plus.

Had a really great stay here! Loved the proximity to Trastevere neighborhood, and was a quick walk to center city area (30 min but there’s so much to see on the way, it goes quick). One thing we didn’t personally love was how hard the bed was; it was hard to get comfortable and woke up quite sore every day. But some people love a firm mattress so that’s just a personal preference.

This hotel is on the “edge” of Trastevere so it’s quiet from the nightlife but still very walkable to the neighborhood. The property is very nice but they are doing construction so a little loud in the mornings/day. When it’s finished it will be even more amazing! The staff were all amazing, friendly and super helpful!

The team at this hotel is welcoming and engaging. They all seem to be happy to be working there and even happier to make your stay an enjoyable one.

We loved the fact the hotel had a lot of open space to relax in. It was incredibly green so it was easy to forget that you were in the middle of the city.

With most rooms facing onto the garden you did hear the occasional group of guests arriving home after dinner. Most nights this is not an issue and it saya more about the guests than the hotel.

Loved the water station which had both still and bubbles. Great to see environmental considerations such as this.

The location is fantastic. Easy walk to amazing restaurants or the many historic sites in Rome.

If we go back to room we would definitely stay at Horti14 again.

We had an amazing stay at Horti 14 for the first leg of our honeymoon! Room was ice cold, the drinks at the bar were so delicious and affordable and the neighborhood was extremely quiet and safe. The staff at the front desk provided us with great restaurant recommendations which did not require a reservation. Would come back here again and again!

We were so pleasantly surprised by Horti 14! When we first arrived we were greeted by the hotel staff who were warm and welcoming. Even though we got there early in the day our room was ready and they quickly ushered us through the beautiful garden courtyard to our room. The temperatures were in the high 90s that day and our room was ice cold thanks to the amazing central air. Our room was huge, modern and spotless and the bed was firm but so incredibly comfortable! The hotel features a rooftop terrace and bar - there is really no view- but it is tastefully decorated and is enclosed with trees, shrubs and vines. Breakfast is served every morning on the terrace and it really is lovely. What we loved most about the hotel, besides the amazing service, was the area it was located in. The old part of Travestere. It is easily walkable through the cobblestone streets and alleyways to some of the hottest nightlife, restaurants and night markets in Rome. We LOVED our stay at Horti 14 and look forward to their upcoming renovations. Would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend! We typically choose larger chain hotels over small boutique hotels like Horti 14 and were nervous we would regret our decision, but it was simply amazing!

If you're looking for a seamless relaxing experience DO NOT STAY HERE!! My husband and I stayed at this property last week and it was shocking. Upon arrival, there was no water at the entire property including no access to sink or toilets. Not a single accessible toliet. The hotel did not inform us of this. My husband proceeded to take a shower and use the toilet and realized it wasn't working. When we reached out to the front desk they casually brushed off on yeah there's no water which blows my mind. Seems they are doing construction and I believe the water was off from 11:30am to 4:30pm. For a 4 star hotel to not provide advance notice or offer accomodations of some kind was shocking. Imagine arriving off of a long flight and not being able to use the toliet or wash your hands let alone take a shower. Thank God we didn't have children or elderly with us. This was extremely stressful and distressing at the time. I will be informing everyone I know to avoid this hotel.

Otherwise, the hotel had average amentities and did not reflect 4 star quality. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
