Set in a historic house in the center of the Colonial Zone, adult-only Casa Sánchez is one of the one of the top 3 small hotels in Dominican Republic on Tripadvisor. The hotel has been beautifully restored and has a pretty swimming pool with a swimjet machine, and a separate roof-garden with a jacuzzi and bar.

The location is in a quiet, safe, street, within easy walking distance of all the historic sites, bars, restaurants and museums of the Colonial Zone. The hotel has an amazing reputation for service, the front-desk is open 24/7 with English-speaking staff.

Breakfast is freshly cooked for each guest, and guests can choose from four breakfast menus including vegan. All bedrooms have air conditioning, hot water and free wifi.

One of the greatest places to stay in Santo Domingo. Been here many times and I will not stay anywhere else. Place is close to many historical landmarks. The Santo Domingo nightlife around this place is also great! Shout out to Victor! Who’s usually there late nights taking care of the clients! Everyone there is amazing! The room was completely different than what was represented in the photos of the “signature suite” we left the same day because we felt the room was gross and very disappointing. We asked to be moved and we were not given the option. We asked for a refund and were denied. It was such a disappointment and it ruined our anniversary trip.

The people in the front desk were super, super nice, but when we got there it seems like the room we were supposed to get wasn’t ready so they tried accommodating us in a smaller room when I had payed for a bigger one. It wasn’t till I brought it to their attention that they moved us. There was black mold on the walls and in the bathroom shower heads. The bed we slept in was quite literally two twin beds put together so there was a separation between my husband and I. There was a ceiling fan but the AC never worked during our stay, (not sure if the power was really out but they kept a generator on that made a lot of noise and they kept turning it on and off during the nighttime), and the only window in the room was very small and provided 0 privacy for us if we left it opened for some breeze to enter. Also it was not very clean and I never received the two complementary drinks we were supposed to get, in fact, when my husband went to claim them, they charged him for them. Overall, the place is very different than what it looks like in the pictures.

Well let me start telling you guys this. I’ve been in Santo Domingo so many times due to my fiance whom has to stay there for awhile so i ve been in so many places.. that been said this cozy hotel gave us anything and everything we could hoped for.. HOT WATER fof god sakes! Lol and nice pool hot tub on the terrace, very friendly staff and excellent location.. rooms are so authentic and beds are sooo comfortable.a/c and fan in rooms and everything works! We loved it and hopefully we will stay there upcoming months as well. Highly recommend you guys won’t be disappointed I guarantee that. The pictures are real and exactly shows how the hotel looks like

I have mixed feelings about this hotel, it has one of the best guest book, it shows they care about their guests, and the hotel is in a beautiful old house, high ceilings, nice yard, lots of space for social, group activities, but on the other hand, it seems lack of maintenance in the room, at least the room I was in, wall sockets are old, my charging plug kept falling off，the hair dryer didn’t work, no lamp on the night stand, all small things, but shouldn’t happen in a Boutique hotel, I hope the changes are on the way, overall, I still like this hotel, the location is great.

Habíamos reservado dos camas y solo nos dieron una y un sofá. Vimos una cucaracha en el baño. Las calles alrededor son sucias y no son las más bonitas pero solo caminas 7 minutos y está toda la zona colonial de restaurantes y bares. Tiene una linda piscina y un jacuzzi en la parte alta. Por lo demás, el personal es de lo más amable.

The place was charming and very close to the main tourist area. Just don't walk the wrong way, because it gets sketchy pretty quickly. The staff was great and went above and beyond. Unfortunately there was an issue with the electricity in the building---it seemed to be an city infrastructure issue, and there is nothing the hotel could have done to prevent it. They actually moved us to another hotel for our last night, and they handled everything with professionalism and grace under difficult circumstances.

Very relaxed energy

I stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights. I personally liked this hotel a lot!! The structure it seems to be two old colonial homes repurposed to be a hotel. This hotel is not in 100% top shape but I personally like that cause for me it gives it character. I'm very artsy and relaxed and feel this hotel gives off those chill vibes I needed while I stayed here and the decor really made my artist heart happy.

The staff here is fantastic and of course the area is historical so the buildings are old. However, the ceiling fan in the room kept dispersing dried paint particles all over the room, so I would wake up and see them all over the sheets, on the floor. I mean, it can’t be healthy. So unfortunately I will not be staying there again. Great location and staff though. Breakfast was ok, and pool was small. Area is pretty safe due to a lot of police presence.

About two years ago I visited this hotel but was staying in different one they gave us a tour and it was very well kept so I booked to stay on this trip. I was not even able to stay one night as the room was not well kept at all with wallpaper coming off the walls, shower not clean and blinds in room were terrible. Within 2 hours of checking in I went to the front and let them know it would not be possible for me to stay and ask if they could offer any part of refund since I was staying 4 nights I was told since it was booked through Expedia they would not offer anything. To make sure my review is honest the cancellation policy was 3 days before arrival so they were not required to give me refund. I walked and found another hotel and moved within 3 hours of check in.

A Santo Domingo gem for authentic hoteling

We wanted to stay in the Colonial Zone in a Dominican owned Hotel rather than in a worldwide Hotel Franchise.
We have done this before in another Hotel before and this hotel was very one-of-a-kind. The room was very clean and the mattresses were very comfy. We booked a Superior room and I would recommend it as a minimum. I did see the standard room and they are lovely too but of course smaller. Our shower water was there and hot as needed. You know what they say about Dominican water: It's hot and arrives slowly. This hotel has beat two other 4 star hotels in that regard.
Every room in the hotels has its own code lock where you set the code yourself. The safe is your room, but the only thing I would suggest is to have a decent safe in the room. However, the property seems very safe as the entrance doors to the hotel are coded. There are two separate entries to the hotel as the superior room side is separate from the other main hotel. You can go through either door. Breakfast is included and is simple but sufficient and nice. At least three options and they will gladly accommodate you. Whether you are on a budget and want a great place to stay for your money or whether you want something authentic Dominican and support the local people, you will not be disappointed. You are literally in the Colonial zone in walking distance from everything i.e the Christopher Columbus Cathedrale and restaurants and shopping all around and abound. 100% recommended

Overall, the hotel was cute, and vintage, so you get the vibe of the Zona Colonial.
It's like 8 min walk from the main park and the popular restaurants, which means the area is quiet.

What we didn't like was the fact that the AC wasn't working at night, and it was really hot.
Staff told us that the power was out and they were working off the generator so basically they couldn't do much. In my opinion, if something doesn't work at your property, let the guests know, find a solution to accommodate your guest, or don't book those rooms. That was disappointing and it's the reason why I wouldn't go back.

Love the esthetic of the hotel; and the fascinating history about it.

However, there’s a lot to do in order to improve.. the property is not well maintained. Dust and spider webs visible everywhere. in cabinets, lamps, ceiling fans. the blower or outlet didn’t work, the iron if you need it you have to ask for it. the safe didn't work. The closet doors didn’t close or open properly; it had to be lift to move the closet doors. Both of the knobs broken. if you don't have Netflix or something similar there is no TV not even local channels.

Check-in was a mess. on their system they had a different date for check-in and check-out. But I had purchased a package Flight & stay together; so we know what that means.. their mistake not Expedia.

I paid for two particular rooms with doble beds and got something completely different.. very disappointing

Staff was friendly, and Thank God I had so many excursions that I didn’t spent much time here. Nonetheless, I wouldn’t consider staying here again more less recommended. Sad because This hotel has such a wonderful history and beautiful aspect.

Great position right in the center of Zona Colonial, room was spacious and clean. With the hot temperature in the Dominican Republic, the swimming pool was perfect to refresh! The staff was very friendly and welcoming giving us precious advices about how to get around!
If I can give a little suggestion, the property needs minor renovations and maintenance. It would be also nice to have a breakfast menu (in 3 days we got 3 different descriptions given by 3 different members of the staff) so to clearly know what it's included and what not.

Our stay at casa sanschez was nice. The location is perfect and very close to everything in the colonial zone. The looks of the property are also nice and everything was clean. I do have to say that you can hear everything because you are in a neighborhood so if you're a light sleep I would suggest to bring earplugs. The staff was amazing and super friendly. My suggestion is to work on amenities in the room. Im a coffee lover so maybe a small machine would be awesome. Than again there is coffee available downstairs near the pool all day.

The common space in this hotel is lovely, breakfast was good, and the location is good. However, the \"Superior Room\" was basic at best.

The staff were friendly and helpful, although some of the problems we had with the room were never fixed. The shower did not drain and the water temperature and pressure were very inconsistent (either burning hot or freezing cold). The safe was broken, and they replaced it, but it still never worked. The bed was quite hard. Nothing luxurious about the room.

Overall, it was fine, but overpriced for what it was, and I would look for a different hotel if I return to Santo Domingo.

It was a pleasure staying at Casa Sanchez hotel . The room was very spacious and clean . The bed was so comfortable that even if I slept less than the recommended 7 hours , I still felt well rested. There was a nice pool and jacuzzi to enjoy . A bonus to my experience at the hotel was the professionalism and hospitality of the employees . There is a positive energy felt with every single one of those working at the hotel . I would not hesitate to go back !

The hotel could be nice but it is not clean. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. The shower was nasty with hair and everything. Not even a little dirt, it was disgusting. Also Wifi does not work consistently and the TV had no signal for more than a day.

Wow! Love the Pool. Actually theres much to love here! I would say this a \"boutique hotel,\" but the best boutique type hotel I've ever seen. Friendly staff that work extra hard to make sure you're comfortable. Breakfast very good and food (& drinks) available at other times good for the most part. Lastly, except for difficulty taxi driver had finding hotel I loved the location. Walkable to best area of city (\"Colonial\").

This is a comfortable, friendly inn on a side street near the main pedestrian mall and a few minutes' walk to the heart of the lovely old town. The staff is wonderful: cheerful, helpful, and honestly interested in their guests' welfare. The place itself is quirky, relaxed, and gay friendly. The pool is basically decorative, as others have noted, but the sun deck area on the second floor is a great spot to hang out. I saw other people taking advantage of it all of the time as well, but it was never crowded or loud. While the arranged transport to the airport is not cheap at $40, that seems to be the going rate, and it was certainly convenient.

It is a real labor of love to maintain an older property like this one.

The staff was very attentive, overall it was ok, what i didnt like was the charge i had to pay on alcohol that i brought from somewhere else, they want you to buy what they have much more expensive and they dont have a full bar , so your choices are limited. You have to buy what they have or bring yoir own but they will charge you for that
