I had stayed here a month previously and been really impressed. However, things were not up to scratch this trip - the \"24 hour\" room service failed to pick up the phone for 15 minutes so exhausted, hungry and jet lagged I went down to the front desk to place an order who took me into Element Restaurant for them to take my order. They assured me the food would be up very shortly. An hour later, no food and still no one answering room service - went back down to restaurant and they had completely forgotten to put in my order!
Another night later in the week was sat at the bar waiting to order a drink and food - 3 staff made eye contact but then carried on with their stock take and talking amongst themselves instead of coming to serve me, very rude.

Really satisfied with this stay. The area is lively and walkable to the metro, many restaurants, cafes, and hawker centers.

The hotel room is spacious, clean and zen. Shower pressure is remarkable and the toilet has its own room, which is nice. If there’s a downside the lobby is part of a bar/cafe and many tables were marked as “Reserved” so you’re not sure if you’re allowed to sit in them. it feels like it’s available to the public and not exclusive to hotel guests. The gym is also minimal but adequate to get some workout in.

Overall highly recommended for the price point as well.

A great hotel in Singapore!

My wife and two daughters and I stayed at the hotel for four nights and truly enjoyed Singapore. Adhraf, concierge, gave us excellent suggestions for our four day stay from eating places, sites to see etc. On the business side of the hotel, Raymond was excellent and also helped us with restaurants etc. There are two of them certainly added to a wonderful stay at the hotel. Also, the hotel is located in the middle of several restaurants which really makes it easy to go out and eat and not take a long time getting to the restaurant. Excellent food!

problems for the price.

the staff were great, but the room is flawed. i stayed in a premium executive room 1412 . I have stayed before, but this room had some issues. It's a big room, but has annoying problems (for the price).

The water is generally highly erratic.... the basin is alwaysn cold... The shower is quite cold at certain times of the day, then really hot at other times of the day. The stupid \"pretty but useless \" shower tap, fell apart, but is quite erratic in its use, and doesn't seem to do much... not change cold water to hot, nor hot water to cold. Even when standing under it, the temperatuyr changes by 5 degrees for 5 seconds, then suddenly returns. Quite spontaneous and without warning. It's weird and annoying. Close to dangerous when it suddenly gets hot...

The bed in this room is like a concrete slab... OK for China, but noone else. Silly pillows where one is too little but two is too much.

The aircond is also highly erratic. hot/cold... and the controls are weird and non-intuitive.

This was enough to make me pick the Oasia next week when I return and in the future. Their club rooms are same price and WAY bettter.

nice hotel with great service!

We spent 2 nights at the Amara Singapore. The location is good. It's near Chinatown and hawker food centers and the MRT station. The staff was very nice and informative. Thank you Riozuan at the front desk for giving us detailed information about taking the MRT and with maps and labeled the stops and what to see and do and he had ice delivered to our room instead of us looking for the ice machine. The rest of the staff were very attentive and prompt in meeting our needs. We needed extra towels and pillows that they brought up promptly.

Reasonable hotel in central Singapore

Good location and great service. Housekeeping left a bit to be desired - room wasn’t vacuumed and there were two toenails and a hairpin on the floor when I arrived. Bathroom also had dirty water dripped down the wall and side of the bath, and these were not cleaned off during my four day stay.

Noisy pool, tired hotel

Really tired hotel. Was probably the place to be 15 years ago. Worst part was the pool, really looked forward a relaxing time during the hours of day when temperatures were hot, however 3 building sites right next to hotel with constant drilling making it impossible to relax without head phones or earplugs in. Thank god room was quiet. I appreciate it’s not the hotels fault for the building sites next to it but as a costumer it’s disappointing to not have a relaxing time by the pool when you’ve flown nearly 14h to get there.

Isn’t the best value for money, could have pay slightly more and stay at Marine Bay instead.

The only positive of this hotel is its location.

Would have given a better review if it hadn't been for the mix up. Distinctively remember paying for the breakfast buffet when I booked my stay; but as we got to the hotel they couldn't find our breakfast booking in their system - - hence it was forfeited. Horribly unfair on our part. Money wasted.

We also put in a request for 2 single beds but as we got to our room there was only one large bed in its center. Had to go down to the lobby once more and they gave us another room. In this new room the safe to hold valuables wasn't working. Regardless to say, it was pretty disappointing with all these little things going wrong, not to mention all the wear and tear of the room adding to the overall disappointment.

The hotel boasts a convenient location, nestled just a short stroll from a variety of restaurants and in close proximity to Chinatown. The staff are notable for their attentiveness, friendliness, and helpfulness. Our stay was generally enjoyable as a family.

However, the breakfast buffet could benefit from a wider variety, as it tends to become monotonous. Additionally, the pool area could use some modernization.

Very dated hotel with lovely outdoor pool

On arrival it looked promising, nice entrance, however no one greeted us as the taxi arrived, or helped with unloading luggage.
Huge foyer, but an absolute waste of space, having no comfy sofas/coffee tables to relax or meet people or colleagues!
Checked in, given key card & directions- no one offered to assist with luggage at all, not what you expect.
Room on 18th floor was dull & very dated, so we asked to move.
17th floor at front was much lighter but still very dated with black furniture and a desk fixed to the floor in the the only walkable space.
Bathroom was awful. Enter through kitchen cupboard type double doors, offering zero privacy to a fairly spacious but badly designed use of space. Tiny triangle shape shower with fixed head that you could barely turn round in, never mind actually wash. Terrible lighting for ladies wishing ti make-up or do hair. Beds were very comfy, but also very high, and the lady that cleaned the room was very pleasant & professional.
Breakfast was very mediocre, resembling a school dining room, with little choice of food and the cheapest sliced bread.
The only saviour was the lovely older chef who made delicious fluffy omelettes on request, and was very helpful. Other staff were inexperienced and clearly not up to standard. The club lounge had no atmosphere.
The best part was the lovely pool, which seemed to be fairly new & a nice place to relax at the end of the day, but we never saw the pool bar tended or open at all?

Stayed in premium executive room. It was a nice hotel and room but the arrangements and placements of little things are weird to me.
For example, there were no drawers for clothes with all those empty spaces-only hanging rack with very few hangers; the hanging hook for used towel is on the other wall of shower; hair dryer cannot be used in the bathroom as the plug is only for shaver; the lighting in the bathroom sink or the dressing table which is outside of the bathroom are not so great so putting makeup on was a little difficult; there were stairs to get to my room floor after getting off the elevator- don’t know why they thought it was a good idea to place those stairs when guest have heavy suitcases.
I was a little puzzled with these arrangements as I’m not used to it compared to all those hotels I have stayed from the other countries.

Overall, the staffs were great, hotel is in a very nice convenient location, and it was clean. I would stay here again because of these reasons.

They might be in the process of updating rooms, but my room was not updated. All furniture was chipped, tiles stained, bed hard as a rock. I messaged their WhatsApp to ask when room service started, they never answered. I called the front desk, no answer. I called room service, no answer. I went downstairs and asked the front desk when room service started, they told me 6am. I asked about the menu, they said there was a QR code in my room. Searched high and low, zero QR code. I called again, they said they could do it until 6:30am. I went without. They texted me on WhatsApp a day later saying room service started at 9:30am.

For the hotel rate a night you expect that:

Towels will be left in the room when room is cleaned but it wasn't on my 2nd day

Operator didn't answer when press 0 so i had to go down twice

Lines were long as only one staff was checking customers. I feel sorry for staff that they are understaffed

It took forever to check in

I've travelled extensively to 50 countries often using Expedia but this was the first rating I have had to give given the disappointing service

Amara can do much better for customer service, cleanliness and check in timeliness

Disappointing stay. The rooms are not clean. Was put in a club room and it had stains on the bedsheets and trash in the bins… then moved to another room on the same floor and the bathroom and shower had hair all over it… not sure why both rooms were subpar - especially in the covid era
As for the club “privileges” - service was NON EXISTANT for both cocktail hours. It’s almost like the staff was pissed anyone showed up and the food/drink offerings were underwhelming.
Breakfast was the worse. The buffet is really underwhelming- you’d expect more options but it was below average in offerings and good luck if your vegetarian. The buffet was flooded with so many people at once that everything got dirty and mixed . They don’t have enough buffet options or spacing. Staff was indifferent as well but I’m assuming it’s because they are severely understaffed
I had heard amazing things about this hotel and club options but honestly - one of the worst hotels in Singapore.

Checking in was good, receptionist Siti was very fast.
Mostly it's just in room problems I been facing.
This time, they missed out one of the glasses in the toilet. There was no iron and had to call to request. Table top was very dirty, looks like it hasn't been wiped from the previous guest.
Bathtub drain is forever not functioning (happens to almost all of the rooms I've stayed)
Found a strand of hair on the duvet before even lying in bed and the hair colour and length surely not familiar.
I even stepped on a tag on the carpet floor which doesn't belong to me when I just checked in.
Cleanliness is very poor.

The good and the bad

Pros - Check-in was fast on a Sunday afternoon. Housekeeping staff was prompt when I reported that the chair in the room was dirty. The other staff also was fast when I reported that the room smell awful. Breakfast is okay, not so outstanding just okay. Price for an overnight stay is considerably cheap for a 4-star rated hotel. The room including the bath room is quite big
Cons-When I entered the room, the smell was quite awful, quite old wood smell. I can say the room is not thoroughly clean, the sofa with ottoman looked dirty with stains. The staff tried to wiped it off (thanks) but bec of the stains it looked dirty. I understood that the hotel might be short of manpower however I believe they can do better to clean the room.

We were there for our anniversary. They were so kind to extend our check out time. However, not sure because of Covid short of staff or what, the room is so dirty, the table got dust, mirror was dirty. And I found my bed got hairs. The room is spacious, but the TV is a bit small. For the breakfast, I was quite angry. It was ala carte buffet. After main course being served, my drink still not being served, waited for another 15mins. And the appetizer came after 1 hrs while we chased them for a few times. The appetizer supposedly came as the first course. And funny thing was the couple came later than us being served appetizer and drink within 10mins, I thought this should be the standard lo.

Average stay, nothing spectacular

Room Service for extra pillows was terribly slow. Had to call thrice. It's frustrating prebooking of pool can't be done before hand, prior to check in. Also, breakfast spread felt limited and timing of slot given was not adhered by any one. Wait to get a table as well as wait for food was all slow.
