It was a good stay but there were some issues. The property is very well located, it is pretty and overall comfortable. The room was very clean. The Bed was comfortable and they had pillow menu. There is a nice small lounge with candies and hot drinks but the reception. The staff was good. However, no iron in the room, and upgraded room with the view( payed extra fo it) had a view of th parking lot. The breakfast is not worth the fee in my opinion - over easy eggs were terribly overdone and overall this was not a fantastic selection for the price. Also, the lobby restroom had a strong moldy smell and I think it was not cleaned frequently enough. But the rooms were very clean and there were no issues - ok to stay but there were some small issues as above

Overall rating this hotel poorly for a number of reasons.
First and most importantly the beds. Mattresses were way too soft or overused and sleeping there started causing back issues by day 3. We did ask the staff and they were helpful trying to fix the situation and although it improved (they changed the mattress pad) it was still uncomfortable. So if you don’t like soft or sunken mattresses I would avoid.
Second is location. Location is fine in terms of how close it is to some tourist attractions but it is one the outer edges of the “nice” area and the neighborhood feels less inviting. It’s good if you want a bit of quiet but not ideal otherwise.

The good: Staff like always in Japan was amazing. Rooms are cute and pretty, albeit small. Property is overall clean and cozy.

This is a great boutique hotel close to a main shopping and restaurant area in Kyoto. Also just steps to the subway line. If you get a room on the Main Street it can be a bit noisy at night.

Apart from the hotel being a lovely and pleasant stay, I really appreciated the coffee in the lounge. There is a Nespresso machine there where you can make your own coffee even when breakfast isn’t being served. This was very helpful to me because I had to leave before breakfast and I was really appreciative of this small but big convenience. They even had little cookies to have with the coffee and this fabulous tea flavored candy that I enjoyed later in the train. Thank you for that. It made me really happy.

The location was excellent, easy to walk to many sights, shops, and restaurants, yet quiet enough to relax after a busy day.

This was honestly our favorite hotel stay, and we would happily come back again.

My dad and I had a wonderful stay at the Dhawa Yura. Our rooms were very comfortable and quiet (slept really well!) and the staff were very helpful. Lovely breakfast and spa. And the location worked perfectly for us - lots to walk to and right by the subway and Keihan line.

Where to begin, they're part of the Banyan group so you expect a level of service and luxury and Dhawa Yura did not disappoint.

A beatutiful hotel and space in general. Every single part of this hotel is planned and well thought out. From the entrance, to the complimentary mini lounge with tea/coffee/candy.

Rooms were good, while not massive, but not tiny compared to other hotels. The bed was HUGE, and a smaller tatami mat area acts as your mini chill lounge section. Amentiees are top tier with everything available, including facial kits, pyjamas, pillow menu, and immaculate in finishes and maintenance.

Breakfast was good too. While they dont have much halal options, there is a fair share of vegetarian dishes such as eggs, fruits, salads, rice, cereals, yoghurts and some breads.

Front desk service was warm, friendly and very helpful with our luggage transfers.

Hotel location is perfect. Literally next to the Sanjo metro station, and about 5 to 10 minute walk to the shopping district, 10 to 15minute walk to the gion historical area and also short walk to the musuems.

Highly recommended for location, service and value for money.

What stood out was the service, from the manger Jimmy greeting us as we arrived to all of the front desk staff. Winnie and Timothy stood out for their hospitality and warmth. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the restaurant staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was fine for my wife , myself and our 7 year old son . Great shower after a busy day of sightseeing.
Location is 3 minutes from a train station that can take you anywhere.
I would recommend staying here and if we were to return to Kyoto sound stay here again .

I had a wonderful stay. Hotel rooms seems newly renovated , larger than usual Japanese hotel rooms. Very comfortable mattress, they even supply buckwheat pillow at your request. Breakfast is very tasty and has multiple choices, including traditional, European and Japanese options. Stuff is very helpful, they even helped me to arrange the transfer of my luggage to Kyoto. Centrally located and walkable distance to many tourist destinations. Metro station is next door.

What a beautiful hotel! wonderful staff, double twin bed room was enough space for 2 adults, small gym but functional and served its purpose, train station is right next to the hotel
Next time in Kyoto, we will definitely stay here. Loved our stay. Our only “complaint” is we only stayed for one night, we wish we stayed longer

Very cool hotel in a great location - truly felt like a hip boutique hotel but with all the amenities (and more) of a large chain. Staff were all incredibly nice and helpful. I travelled with my wife and 2 year old. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel. It was located right next to an underground station which made it convenient coming from Kyoto Station. We requested a crib upon arrival and the staff quickly assembled one in our room free of charge. We had the king bed with extra room, the extra room was definitely needed to fit a crib. The breakfast was quite good (~$35 CAD) we ended up going all three days. It was located within walking distance of a lot of the shopping and dining options. Will stay again if we ever come back to Kyoto.

This is an excellent hotel centrally located in Kyoto on Shijo (4th street). It is just on the east side of the Kamo-gawa river. It is a clean very well run hotel with a spa and bar within the hotel. Buffet style breakfast is included. It is walkable distance to the famous Gion district (Maiko and Geiko area). It is also walking distance to the famous shopping and restaurant region on Kawaramachi and shijo streets across the Kamo-gawa river bridge to the western side of Kyto. The hotel has bicycles to use if you want. It is a great central region from which you can get guides to tour the Kyoto region. You are also walking distance to the subway which can take you all over Kyoto as well. Rooms are a bit small but well maintained and modern. I did not see a gym, if you are interested in working out during your trip, but all the walking through the temples and shrines will make up for any lack of a gym. For this reason, Japanese are typically more fit than the average American due to their more rigorous activity walking throughout the day.

Grill 54 is absolutely amazing! The service, the food is all very top quality, we loves the atmosphere with the mini bamboo forest as well as the samurai armor set in the bamboo, the front desk staff we're extremely friendly, helpful and gard working, overall i highly recommend this hotel as well as the location is close to the Kyoto station sooo much shopping and absolutely amazing food!

We loved this hotel. It was easy to access various areas of Kyoto with trains/metro/buses all on our doorstep. It was also walking distance to Gion. The staff were wonderful and let us check in super early. The rooms were comfortable and stylish and the cocktails in the bar were lovely. The Nest had tea and coffee whenever you needed it, which was fab. The hotel was beautiful and welcoming after a hot day of sightseeing. Would stay again if in Kyoto.

The Dhawa Yuri is in a great area close to unlimited dining options and great shopping. The hotel is quiet, clean and comfortable. The staff (like all hotel staff we have encountered in Japan) were friendly and very helpful.
We definitely recommend this hotel for sightseeing in Kyoto. Many important sites are easily walkable from the hotel while all others are reachable by public transit stations which are minutes away from the hotel.
