Trash is taken out and beds were done everyday. It’s in a pretty good location surrounded by stores and some good food spots. Laundry machines are ok, but dryers need more than an hour depending on load size. The staff were nice and helpful. Elevator is the only problem honestly, I understand why it would do it but anytime you’d want to leave to go outside, or go straight to your room, it always stops at the second floor and if you’re constantly going in and out of the hotel like I did it gets old real quick. But besides that a really good place to stay at.

The perfect location. Steps away from all the shopping & dinning places. Also easily accessible by bus to a few tourist attractions. The room was a great size with comfortable bedding & amenities. The tv was a feature that shows you nearby attractions & how to get there ! Staff was friendly and easy to communicate with. Definitely a great location for a 1st timer in Kyoto. Check out a bar called the “Snack Bar A-55” minutes away walking distance from hotel. Glad I booked here.

Clean rooms cleaned every day. Breakfast was okay (tempura, rice, chicken stew type of dish, salad, yogurt, pineapple, banana, grapefruit, pancakes, breads, juices, coffee, no sashimi sushi :(. Walked away full every morning! Natto if you like that. Nice central location to Nishiki market. It’s a very busy area with many shops and restaurants. Nice sundries as you walk in (brush, toothbrush, cutip, hair clip, razor,). Travel light if you want to go to/from Kyoto station.

The hotel is in a great location. Easy to trains, food, and shopping arcades. The rooms are very small. It is difficult for 2 people to put away their clothes. The water is always warm. You will have a hard time getting cold water. You may have to ask for help with the tv. Access to Japanese channels were not obvious. There are apps on tv for hulu and youtube, but Japanese hulu is a different account than US. The beds and pillows are bad, so be prepared to sleep on cardboard. Toilet paper also very cheap. But there is a bidet if you can tolerate it. The breakfast buffet is a good price, but you will get sick of the same thing every day. No breakfast meats on it. Adjoining rooms was a good feature if you have kids.

Came to Kyoto for a few days to explore the city, Osaka, and Nora. This hotel was very well located on a main street, but was quiet enough in the rooms themselves. The staff was very friendly and the amenities were in the front desk area so you could take as much as you needed. The rooms were a good size for a room in Japan.

Hotel is right in the most action-filled areas of Kyoto, but as soon as you enter the lobby, it is peaceful. We had a party of three adults, so we booked one of the adjoining set of rooms, providing the luxury of two baths. Breakfast had good variety of Japanese and Western items, not quite as refined as other comparable hotels during our trip, but quite enjoyable. Pro tip: the coffee machine in the lobby next to the breakfast room makes better coffee than the one in the breakfast room. Overal, great visit. Would recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was a good size - ideal for not feeling cramped on top of each other, and just felt a tad more luxurious than the other two hotels we stayed in during our Japan holiday. This hotel is on the main street but you couldn't hear much noise from floor 5. The staff were really helpful and friendly - check-in was easy, so was check-out. We didn't have to pay a separate bill upon arrival for visitor tax despite being from the UK. Luggage forwarding you need to fill the form in a day earlier than you might expect as they need to do some checks on the phone and if you are in a rush it could delay you. Only negative was the TV wouldn't remember us so each time we watched youtube we had to sign in - minor inconvenience. Within walking distance of a few stations, convenience store 2 shops up. Got some breakfast bars for skipping a day service for the room which was a nice surprise. Would highly recommend.

Air conditioning was great the staff efficient but there was a language issue since I do not speak much Japanese. Hotel is close to market great shopping also close to gf restaurants. Near a bus stop. Also Short walking distance to larger shoppers stores. The only drawback is the for two people the room was crowded and it took a while to charge electronics.

Our stay was excellent from start to finish. We booked a Hollywood Double room and were pleasantly surprised by how spacious and immaculately clean it was—especially by Kyoto standards. The room felt modern with a touch of traditional decor, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed for travelers.

The location was absolutely ideal: just a short walk to both Nishiki Market and Pontocho Alley, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the city, dining, and shopping.

Breakfast each morning was a highlight of our stay. The buffet offered a delicious and extensive selection of both local Japanese dishes and Western options, with something for every taste.

Even the little details stood out—the provided pyjamas were exceptionally comfortable and added a nice touch to the overall experience.

We would gladly stay here again and would highly recommend Hotel Musse Kyoto to anyone visiting the city.

The location of this hotel is top notch - central to everything. However, it really needs to remove the smoking lounge on level 2 as the WHOLE second floor and the lift well stinks of cigarette smoke. Remnants of that smell flow through the hotel, so it really makes going out of the room a bad experience. We also found the rooms to be very small.

This was my second stay at Hotel Musse Kyoto, and, as before, my experience was excellent. The front desk staff are always warm, helpful, and efficient. The room is well-appointed and laid out, with enough room for me to. open my suitcases. It's the most comfortable bed I've slept on in Japan so far. The location is extremely convenient, and I enjoyed the Japanese and western breakfast options. I will stay there whenever possible.

Great location. We were “upgraded” to a small room on the premium floor that was smaller and less well appointed than our friends in a regular room on a non-premium floor. Our room had a vinyl floor that had stains on it, no storage space for clothing, hardly any space to walk around the bed and nowhere to store 24” suitcases without having to step around them. Ask for one of the larger rooms!

Clean room, comfortable, and exceptional staff. The hotel itself was very clean on the inside. The hotel staff are incredibly helpful, they explained how luggage shipping services work, and did the shipping process to one of my next hotels

One thing I was surprised about was the amount of trash and litter outside the hotel in the surrounding areas I think from over-tourism (which is out of the hotels control).

Overall highly recommend this hotel, it’s in a central and great location, and it’s clean and comfortable

Only one set of PJ’s was provided for two people occupancy, had to ensure they removed charge because of someone else’s mistake.

The breakfast made up for the idiotic excuse for a welcoming drink, pancakes were a different story.

Mediocre location to enjoy Kyoto. Expected a higher level of quality and enthusiasm.

Employees are not as respectful to travels from outside Japan.

Wow! This was truly the best hotel we have ever stayed in! It was pur first hotel in Japan, so we're not sure how it compares to other Japanese hotels, but as Americans the service and ammenities here absolutely blew us away. They have everything that you need. The location is fantastic. The room was very quiet, despite being in a busy, lively area. We needed urgent medical care during the trip, and the staff found a place and called and made the appointment for us, and we received top-tier medical care as well. The one small ossue is I wish they had more laundry machines, as there were only 3 for the whole building; but we only had to wait about 6 minutes during our stay (January), so it wasn't too bad. They offer a full set of ammenities and a variety of free coffee from a machine in the morning. Comfortable beds. Extremely clean, everything worked well, luggage transfer service was excellent. 11/10 stay here!
