Great location. We were “upgraded” to a small room on the premium floor that was smaller and less well appointed than our friends in a regular room on a non-premium floor. Our room had a vinyl floor that had stains on it, no storage space for clothing, hardly any space to walk around the bed and nowhere to store 24” suitcases without having to step around them. Ask for one of the larger rooms!

Clean room, comfortable, and exceptional staff. The hotel itself was very clean on the inside. The hotel staff are incredibly helpful, they explained how luggage shipping services work, and did the shipping process to one of my next hotels

One thing I was surprised about was the amount of trash and litter outside the hotel in the surrounding areas I think from over-tourism (which is out of the hotels control).

Overall highly recommend this hotel, it’s in a central and great location, and it’s clean and comfortable

This hotel was the perfect location if you’re ready to shop and eat in Kyoto! Right in the heart of it all and walkable to pretty much everything. The staff was amazing and assisted with our luggage transfer to our next location making it easy and super efficient. They had great amenities that you could grab from reception and take to your room. Highly recommend!

Welcoming drink is coffee, coffee….. that’s got to be the most unwelcoming offering I’ve ever had.

Only one set of PJ’s was provided for two people occupancy, had to ensure they removed charge because of someone else’s mistake.

The breakfast made up for the idiotic excuse for a welcoming drink, pancakes were a different story.

Mediocre location to enjoy Kyoto. Expected a higher level of quality and enthusiasm.

Employees are not as respectful to travels from outside Japan.

Wow! This was truly the best hotel we have ever stayed in! It was pur first hotel in Japan, so we're not sure how it compares to other Japanese hotels, but as Americans the service and ammenities here absolutely blew us away. They have everything that you need. The location is fantastic. The room was very quiet, despite being in a busy, lively area. We needed urgent medical care during the trip, and the staff found a place and called and made the appointment for us, and we received top-tier medical care as well. The one small ossue is I wish they had more laundry machines, as there were only 3 for the whole building; but we only had to wait about 6 minutes during our stay (January), so it wasn't too bad. They offer a full set of ammenities and a variety of free coffee from a machine in the morning. Comfortable beds. Extremely clean, everything worked well, luggage transfer service was excellent. 11/10 stay here!

The room we had was clean, size was exactly as expected for a hotel in the central part of a large city. It was known due to its central location it would be a little noisy at night, but it was manageable and we both managed to sleep soundly all nights of our stay.

Location is great, bed isn’t very comfortable, very thin mattress. There is a horrible smell from the toilet which caused my partner and I to become ill and having to leave early. After reading more reviews I see this is a common problem. I would not recommend this place for comfort, but would recommend it for location.

Laundry services are very good but be aware if you choose wash and dry you'll also have to pay extra for more drying because one lot of drying won't actually fully dry anything. There are only 2 machines on the floor I stayed on so it's hard to get access. It would be nice if they had a little clothes line in the bathrooms so you can hang dresses to dry but they have a lot of amenities such as irons, steamers, trouser presses and ironing boards which is fantastic

The location was perfect for us . We loved that we were within a few blocks to the Nishiki market, Takoyakushi-dōri and walking distance to Gion and the train station. You walked out of the building to lots of stores, restaurants and activity but our room backed onto a temple so was very quiet at night . The facility was clean and the reception very helpful. The room had linoleum not carpet easy cleaning. Room size was decent. We had a twin room and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

This is a wonderful hotel. Walking distance to temples, Gion district, the subway and the local food market. Check in was quick and efficient. I would suggest upgrading to the larger rooms - it is worth it. Another suggestion - don't be afraid to take a cab/Uber - prices are reasonable and it is impeccable service.

Let's start with friendly staff, check-in went smooth, all toiletries self service next to the elevator. Room is clean and spacious, as a matter of fact the biggest one among all the hotels we stayed in Japan.
Perfect location on the main shopping districts, Nishiki market is only 2 minutes walk, subway and train stations also within minutes walk. Lastly, plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from.

I rarely write reviews but have to for this as the property and the staff were amazing. I used to be in hotels and the upkeep on Hotel Musse has been amazing. Ie still looks and feels completely new. It was so quiet - despite being in the absolute thick of things. It is right on the main shopping strip - also right beside the Kamo and Pontocho alley and in bw 2 stations. Breakfast was great and the drinks machine in the lobby was a nice touch. there is a family mart right next door + a chemist + everything. Non hotel related but pls note that Kyoto is not as well serviced as Tokyo by subways and busses form the main mode of local transport here, so a lot of the time taking a taxi is a better saving especially of limited holiday time and also money. Also most retail shops and a lot of restaurants and cafes etc close at 8pm here so be mindful of this when planning.
