Excellent location. Close to 1000 shops!

It's right in front of subway exit. Turn to the street on the right to find yourself bask in restaurants and shops. Turn to the left to get Japanese style souvenirs. Straight ahead a beautiful temple exists. Everything is within walking distance. The hotel itself offers traditional way of living. Wear your yukata lent from the hotel. Drink as much ocha tea as you want. Bathe yourself in the hot tub. Minus : no wifi in your room.

Japanese style hotel right across from city hall

This hotel is 30 feet from one of the subway exits. I was on the inside so my room window looked in to the court yard of the Honnoji Temple. My room was big but very very simple. Not many amenities. It has two public bath area that are common in Japanese hotels, one on the 3 floor and one in the basement. I would rate these slight above average. Tea was provide in the room and in the hallways. Internet only in the lobby. Internet was fast enough to do phone calls from. I had no-issues or problem.

This hotel is in a fantastic part of Kyoto. It is A great experience with a well equipped onsen. The staff are very helpful and found a way to ship and store some of luggage for an extended period of time. The staff are wonderful

It doesn't have communicate between agency and hotel because we got the problem when we arrived .we had inform to agency but the problem still happened.The hotel doesn't try to help customer but they give a choice \"cancel or pay more money\" that mean we have no choice.if we pick \"cancel\",we have to find the hotel when we arrived that impossible.if we pick \" charge \" we have to pay that mean we didn't plan this budget before.they just said they understood our feeling but \"no action\".

Traditional Japanese, central location

First it's important to realize this is a ryokan style inn. It's great for experiencing some Japanese culture but comes with some inconveniences.

First you are sleeping on the floor on some comforters and a blanket. Some people are ok with that, others might not be. The good thing is the room was quite large considering you are in Japan, and there are enough comforters and space to fit a group of 4 in there if need be. Also comes with a kimono and some tea.

Tradition also dictates that you bathe in a communal bathroom! Might be interesting at first but gets annoying fast, especially as it's not open 24/7! Luckily they have a private shower you can request if needed.

Location was really good. I was tired my first night I arrived in Kyoto so decided just to check out the area. Turns out you are right next to some strips that are dedicated to shopping and tourists. Just shops as far as the eye can see!! Also a pretty good udon and tempura place right next door. Be aware that stores and restaurants in the area tend to close relatively early at around 9-10pm. (In tokyo things seemed to stay open later) The hotel also uses keys and not cards so you drop it off each time before you leave the hotel which is a bit tedious.

Overall I'm glad I got to experience a semi authentic ryokan, but I wouldn't do it again and I recommend if you decide to try it, there's no need to stay for longer than a few days. The hotel itself is good for what it's supposed to be!

Great location, traditional Ryokan style

This is a Ryokan style hotel with tatami mats in main room, toilet in small side closet, and sink in room. Shared baths on the basement floor were clean and very comfortable. We spent two nights, mid-week during Cherry blossom season. Very convenient location to major shrines and temples in Kyoto area. Staff are friendly, main desk staff speak some English while room staff typically do not.

Hotel is right next to Tozai subway exits 2 and 3 on south side of Oike Dori (street) across from Kyoto city office buildings (city hall). Honno-ji shrine is behind the hotel and can be accessed from three paths nearby. There is a good underground mall connected to the subway station with restaurants and shops including a nice grocery. Plenty of shops and restaurants within 5 minute walking distance.

Some things to be aware of:
- There was no A/C in our rooms on the 6th floor and with outdoor high temp around 20 degrees C the hotel rooms were very warm
- As noted by others, hotel lobby is very smoky. If you don't like smoke it can be uncomfortable even passing through
- WiFi is only available on ground floor (lobby), but you can stand outside the main door and get a good signal. Nice for those who want to avoid smoke

If you are expecting western style hotel rooms this is not a good fit, but if you are up for a more traditional Japanese experience it is a good place to stay.

Great location and value for money. Almost center to everywhere we wanna go, from temples, to palaces, to shopping, by walking, trains or buses.
As we were travelling with 2 children, not many hotels in Japan can accommodate 4 in a room.

Traditional Experience

A great place for westerners like myself to get a taste of traditional Japanese living. Staff were fantastic and spoke English very well. Only downside is that the free WiFi is only available on the 1st floor and not in room. Also no yakutas that fit for fat guys like myself.

Great stay

This place was very awesome, clean, great service, and spectacular room. Wireless in the lobby worked but the lobby has a strong smell of cigarettes. There is no Internet in the room. Just out the back of the hotel is a Temple, Honnō-ji, I think. Anyway, its very cool our room looked out at the front of the temple. In the early AM some monks-priests(not sure) came out in a line chanting. At night if you open the window you could hear the drums playing.

An excellent place to experience authetic Japan

Our family of 4 had a Fantastic stay in this traditional Ryokan in central Kyoto! Tatami room (with bath & shower), public bath, and of course, food and tea. Services here were subtle and pleasant. Location is super, connects to the historical Honnoji Temple, close to all sightseeing and shopping places one can think of. Some reviews compliant about hotel's curfew and unable to get in after 11pm. In fact, in the lobby and every guest room, there's a note included in the Hotel's Handbook that politely ask guests that if you decide to come back latter than 11pm, just let the front desk know before you leave, \"we'll be gladly open the door for you at any hour\". Regarding the typical small rooms, many previous reviewers mentioned that besides the traditional Japanese Public Bath located in the badement, there're no private showers, only shared showers on each floor, this is not correct. I believe it depends on which rooms you get. Our room (#601) had a toilet, washing room, a soaking tub and shower. Small but very comfy. Upon examining the hotel diagram, I realize all x01 rooms have no next door neighbors at all - utility room on the left, service preparation room on the right, which could be the reason why we got it giving that we checked in with two happy kids! The only area that may help is the hallway carpets could be improved with some new carpeting.

Lovely Japanese Ryokan Hotel

Hotel Honnoji has the feel of a efficient large hotel with the charm of a traditional ryokan. Our room was very big with a nice view. Perfect location for all of Kyoto and the subway entrance is right outside. Shared bath facilities were extremely clean and well maintained. We really enjoyed our stay but the only downside was the smoking in the hotel lobby which is where the free wifi is available.

We'd wanted to experience a tatami room in one of our stays in Japan so picked this hotel as Kyoto was proving a bit pricy and difficult to find twin rooms in. The rooms were quite small but very standard Japanese style with futons and a low table. The hotel itself seemed a bit 1970s and could do with decorating and there were quite a few stains on the walls in our room. Be warned that this hotel only offers (gender segregated) public bathing facilities so if you're not the sort to strip off in public this is not the place for you as there are no bathrooms in the rooms (there are toilets though). The staff were extremely friendly and helpful

Interesting Weekend

The Hannoji hotel is not for everyone but I had a great time at the hotel. I was traveling alone and was looking for a more traditional hotel experience in Kyoto but couldn't afford the really high end luxury suites offered by the other hotels. At the Honnoji, I got to experience sitting and sleeping Japanese style and got to have my own little tea ceremony in the room. My room did not have a shower and I got to use the very clean public bath in the basement. My room was on the 5th floor, overlooking the old city offices building, relatively large and clean. Overall, the location of the hotel is perfect. Within walking distance of many shops, eateries and unknown cultural landmarks but also very easy access to metro. On my second day, I rented a bike and explored, highly recommended. You can get a bike delivered to the hotel (for a small charge) or you can just go the street corner and rent one.

Nice place in a good location

We ordered a family room for four people and got a very nice Japanese style 12-tatami room with four futons. The room was very nice, with everything you expect from a Japanese hotel, including small-size yukata for the children. There was a small table, a refrigerator and free hot/cold tea/water in the hall for breakfast in the room. There was also a Japanese bath in the basement. The location was ideal, next to a subway-station and very close to e.g. sanjo bridge and the many shops and restaurants nearby. Nijo castle and the imperial palace also within walking distance. The only thing we didn't like was that the staff was not very accommodating in letting us enter the room before 1500. We were there first at around noon, and went for lunch. when we came back about 1445, the children were a bit tired and it would have been very nice if they would let us into the room, but we were not allowed. We understand normal check-in time is 1500, but are normally met with a little flexibility from the hotel. Nevertheless, a good hotel in a good location - especially if you are interested in a traditional feeling (sleeping in a Japanese style room with futons).

No frills, and unappealing from outside. Room was nice, with everything i needed including a cotton dressing gown, fridge, hot water for tea and a small snack. The large communal bath was very nice and relaxing.

Terriable hotel. Worst of my life

First of all , the room is Very dirty. No service what so ever. If u want to come back after 11. U have to let them know first. Otherwise u will be lock out. But usually for travelers, we don't know the city too well. It's hard to tell when will I be back. Because it's like a traditional japanese room. Usually normal hotel will set up ur bed and take away in the morning. But here I didn't get any staff help. Most of the hotel rooms has no shower. But the price is crazy expensive(compare with the quality of the hotel) Please don't look at the hotel pics. The room looks so different. Location is the only good thing. And remember ur checkout time is 10. And they don't have shower in the room.so for who like to take shower in the morning. U d better wake up super early. This hotel is very noisy. Due to the thin wall. Don't hope u can get sleep after 6. Noise comes from everywhere. Upstaris, the next room or outside of the room. and staff will smoke in the hallway. The staff will go in ur room when u r sleep. That's the worse part!

外観と部屋の写真を見て迷わずに、予約完了！

実際に入室すると和室特有の香りと和菓子とお茶（お湯がすでに用意されていた！）で、友人も大変満足して、とても有意義な宿泊ができた。

비즈니스 호텔 처럼 좁지 않고 일본 전통 다다미 방식으로 침대를 싫어하는 나에게 좋았음. 목욕탕이 있어서 좋고 지하철역에서도 2분 내 거리. 가격도 저렴하여 좋음

로비에서는 인터넷이 되나 방에서는 인터넷이 안된다.
밤 11시에 문을 닫는다. 야경 촬영이 어렵다.

別館に案内されたのですが、本館から非常口にて一旦出て隣の館へ。あいにくの雨で、本館地下の大浴場まではスリッパはダメとの事で履いていた濡れた靴で向かい、また履いて別館の部屋までの移動。さすがにスッキリしたとは言えない…

便利な立地

バス停からも近く飲食店もまわりにたくさんあり寺町通りにも近いので
夜散歩がてら出かけて夜も楽しむことができた。
大浴場があり23時まで入れるので出かけて帰ってきてからお風呂に入ることができた。1Fにはカフェもあり隣にコンビニもあるのでとても便利。
京都に来ることがあったらまた利用したいと思います。

飲み屋街へのアクセスがよい

入り口が会館となっていて入るのに迷ったが、ロビーは小さいが落ち着いた雰囲気、受付スタッフの対応も丁寧。室内は清潔で広さもある。目の前に市役所のイルミネーションが広がる。隣が配膳室だったので朝の音が少々気になった。

出張にも良い。

今回は出張で行き、たまにはと思い、和室のホテルを選びましたが、とても気に入りました。
チェックインが夜中12時を過ぎましたが、事前に連絡をしていたことでスムーズに行きました。
コストパフォーマンスがよい。
立地もよく、大浴場がある和室はよい。

교통 편리 가격 대비 굿

방에 샤워시설과 욕조만 없을 뿐, 훌륭한 세면대와 화장실을 갖추고 있어서 불편함은 없었습니다. 오히려, 무료로 제공되는 대중탕에서 편안하게 목욕을 할 수 있었고(가족이 동시에 목욕할 수 있으니 시간도 절약됨), 가까운 거리였지만 대중탕까지 가는 길에 호텔에서 제공한 유카타를 입어 볼 수도 있었습니다. 밤 11시 이후 주 출입문이 폐쇄되는 점이 있었지만, 저희는 어린이를 포함한 가족 여행이라서 밤 늦게까지 돌아다닐 일이 없어 이것 역시 크게 불편하지 않았습니다.

유서깊은 사찰인 혼노지를 뒤뜰처럼 끼고 있어 잠시 휴식을 취하기도 좋았고, 바로 옆 재래 시장 아케이드는 교토의 가장 큰 시장인 테라마치 시장과 니시키 시장으로 연결되어 쇼핑과 식사에도 장점이 있습니다. 건너편은 교토 시청이었는데, 밤에는 불이 꺼져서 야경 자체는 훌륭하지 않지만, 도심임에도 불구하고 주위가 조용하여 편안하게 잘 수 있었습니다.

밤늦은 시간까지 활동하지 않는 가족 여행객에게는 가격 대비 훌륭한 호텔이라고 생각됩니다.

너무 만족스럽습니다. 추천!

진짜 부족함이 없는 호텔이었습니다. 다른 비지니스 호텔급 가격인데 좋았습니다. 비지니스 호텔에서 기대할 수 있는 기대치에서 최대인 것 같습니다. 여행 다녀보신분은 알겠지만 욕실이 작긴 합니다. 근데 중요한 점은 료칸형식을 가진 호텔이라서 침대가 없이 자리 펴고 자는데 이불도 깨끗하고, 아래 까는 것도 두꺼워서 불편하지 않았습니다. 일단 공간도 일반 비지니스호텔 보다 넓은데다가 침대도 없어서 더 넓습니다. 캐리어 펼자리도 없는 곳도 있는 걸 생각하면 여기 정말 좋습니다. 방마다 크기는 다르지만
지하에는 목욕탕도 있어서 따뜻한 물에 몸을 담글 수도 있어서 좋아요. 직원분들도 친절하고 좋습니다. 여기에는 샴푸종류랑 면도기, 빗만 구비되어있어서 칫솔이랑 샤워타울, 수건은 가지고 내려가셔야되요.
근데 제가 2일 묶었는데 첫날 늦게 일어나서 그런지.... 방정리는 안해주는 것같아요. 그래서 수건 카운터에 직접가서 달라고 그러긴했는데 그것 빼고 모두 대 만족입니다.
바로 앞에 지하철역 있고요. 아래층에 우동에 날계란 깨서 간장뿌려먹는 집 있는데 엄청 맛있었어요. 지금도 생각나도 또먹고 싶네요. 튀김이랑 주먹밥 하나씩 더 먹어서 한 800엔 나왔던거 같아요. 옆건물에 편의점 있고요. 걸어서 한 5분정도 거리에 24시간 수퍼마켓도 있어요. 구글맵에 '슈퍼마켓'이라고 치면 검색됩니다.(이름 fresco) 여기서 물이랑 과자 라면 같은거 사시면 편의점에 사시는 것보다 훨씬 돈 아낄 수 있어요.
아무튼 참 만족스러웠던 호텔이었습니다. 다음에 교토에 간다면 다시 머물고 싶습니다.

美中不足

我們入住當天中國客很多，在浴場泡澡習慣很差，導致池水滿髒的，下次不會再考慮入住。房間倒是滿乾淨的，附近也有免稅藥妝店跟全家，丸龜製麵可以吃，離地鐵站以及公車站也近，前往二条城一下子就到了。

the downsides are most rooms are not ensuit (attached with toilet) and the CHN staff do not seem familiar with couteous Chinese conversations, the upside is it's a traditional Japanese room with meals served in Japanese style, which I don't normally get the chance for it unless I stay in a hot spring area. Overall this could be my choice if I visit Kyoto again.

価格相応かな

修学旅行で使われることも多いとのことで、部屋の内装はかなり痛んでいた。
風呂もいくらか年代を感じさせるものだったが、掃除はキチンとされている印象。

โรงแรมบริการดี มีออนเซ็นบริการ เดินทางไปมาสะดวกเพราะหน้าโรงแรมมีทางลงสถานีรถไฟฟ้า เลย เดินออกจากโรงแรมเลี้ยวซ้ายไปไม่ไกลก็จะเป็นย่านช๊อบปิ้ง ห้องพักเป็นแบบเรียวกังนอนสบายมากใด้บรรยากาศ โรงแรมอยู่ตรงสี่แยกหาง่าย

仕事で滞在しました。古いつくりでしたが、清潔感があり、立地も抜群に良かったです。ホテル入り口が交差点かつ地下鉄からの出口の前にあるので、迷うことはありませんでした。京都市役所の正面です。
部屋に風呂はありませんが、畳部屋なのでのびのびとできました。次回も利用したいです。

ビジネスで利用しました。

ハイシーズンの京都のため市内にホテルが無く、宿泊料金も倍近くになっていましたが、まずまず快適に過ごせました。別館だったので、フロントの方に部屋まで案内していただきました。

Bonne situation mais un peu vieillot

Parfaitement situé dans un quartier animé, cet hôtel un peu vieillot offre des chambres familiales avec futons sur tatamis. Les salles de bain ne sont que des cabinets de toilette sans douche ni bain. Heureusement il y a le bain collectif qui permet de se laver matin et soir (attention aux horaires d'ouverture!).

交通位置很方便

第一次入住和式房型，非常喜歡～大澡堂讓人可以好好舒緩一下多天疲累的雙腳，若有機會希望再來，未來房間能有wi-fi就更棒了=)

立地も良く手頃で広めなホテル。

広いのに安いし、立地もよいのでとてもよかったです。拠点としては最低限がきっちり揃っているのでつかいやすいと思います。特に安いのがよかったです。ネーミングも直球で好きです。

Excellent location

excellent location, down the hotel there is subway. Near to Kamo River u can find a lot of traditional restaurants. The price is okay still though a bit experience. Very convenient to tourists spots and the city. I love it. They clean the room every day. And we have to take the shower in public bath room. It is nice Japanese Style but some may prefer private bath room still.

Für den Preis leider zu wenig

Der große Vorteil des Hotels ist seine zentrale Lage. Auch an dem Zimmer war nichts auszusetzen (ich hatte die etwas größere Variante gewählt). Das alleine rechtfertigt leidet aber nicht den (in meinem Fall) verhältnismäßig hohen Preis. Als ich bei meiner Ankunft nach einer Zumutung von Mahlzeiten fragte (gehört in einem Ryokan ja irgendwie dazu), erklärte man mir, dies sei nicht möglich mit der Begründung es ließe sich zeitlich nicht einrichten. Auch das japanische Bad war im Vergleich zu denen anderer Hotels im westlichen Stil auch eher funktional und lud nicht zum verteilen ein. Das Englisch des Personals war eher unterdurchschnittlich und wirkte bei meiner Ankunft eher unzufrieden auf mich.

ロケーションいいです

初めて滞在しました。ホテルの昔ながらのつくりなのでしょうが、お掃除が行き届いていて快適でした。部屋の広さは、広すぎるくらい。お風呂が共同と少し手間ですが、大きなお風呂のほうがよかった気がします。ロケーションは、まさに本能寺！市役所の真ん前。通りのにぎやかさも防音対策にて気にすることなく過ごせました。ホテルのスッタフの皆さんは、とても親切に対応していただき、また泊まってみたいホテルの一つです。

位於京都繁華中心區, 交通方便之選

酒店提供和式房間, 面積較普遍西式酒店房間寛敞. 部份房間沒有浴室, 要到公眾浴池洗澡, 對這方面有抗拒的人, 請特別注意.
酒店位置距離京都地鐵東西線站僅數步可及. 若搭乘阪急電鐵由大阪至京都河原町站, 步行10-15分鐘可到酒店, 沿路經過新京極通, 錦市場, 寺町通等購物及美食中心, 交通極之方便.
酒店員工態度友善有禮, 酒店價錢合理, 如到京都主要想遊覽市中心及東山清水寺等地方, 我十分推薦在這酒店住宿.

河原町御池に近くて便利な旅館。

ホテル入口は河原町御池の交差点近く。別の催し物会場入り口に着いたところ、スタッフの方が丁寧に案内してくださいました。部屋は和室。年期は入っていますが、清潔な旅館で、ゆったりできます。深夜23時以降に戻ってきた際にも、入口のスタッフの方が温かく迎えてくれました。気の置けない方とのんびりするにはいいホテルだと思います。新しくても狭いビジネスホテルよりはるかに落ちつけます。

程よい感じ

和室でゆっくりできる雰囲気でした。
湯沸し器がなかったので、魔法瓶のお湯を使いましたが、少しぬるかった。
便利な場所なので、お勧めてす。
