The Fontana Hotel has an excellent location, right next to a big shopping mall and surrounded by many restaurants and services, which makes it very convenient for visitors. The staff is friendly, helpful, and attentive, and that was a highlight of our stay.
However, the hotel is definitely in need of major upgrades and better cleaning standards. We noticed pieces of lime in the hallways and empty Coca-Cola bottles near the elevator that stayed there for quite a long time without being removed. The rooms are spacious, but the A/C barely works, and the bathroom is tiny with a slippery shower floor, which can be unsafe. Also, there are very few plugs in the room, making it difficult to charge devices.
The potential is there, but improvements are necessary to match the price and the otherwise great location and staff.

This hotel has been a well known hotel for many years and it is sad to see that it has had it's better days. The hotel tries but it is dated. The old, dark wooden furniture makes it very outdated. The phone in our room did not work for 2 days which becomes an issue when you have to take an elevator and walk to the lobby to bring up any issue or have questions including room service, not enough towels were left in the room, tissue box was empty for the 4 days of our stay, It is a bit sad. There are newer better hotels and this is simply not worth it. Sorry, just being honest. We will not stay here again.

Beautiful place and amazing staff, everyone is always willing to help. However, my experience was soured with the hotel charging me twice for the stay, I've tried talking to the front desk, expedia has tried to contact the property but unfortunately nothing has been resolved. I've been forced to submit a claim with my bank, just the hazzle to get my own money back makes me not want to stay again at this place due to this inconvenience.

This is a great option in the northern part of Bogota. We feel very safe at La Fontana and love the interior patios. Great location right across from nice mall, Unicentro. Very good food too. Rooms are dated but it’s part of the charm - like the Paradores of Spain.

First and foremost I am a faithful customer for the all the Estelar hotels in Colombia. On Monday was in Barranquilla service was especular. Then I visited Santa Marta, was served by the most amazing Server. Unfortunately, yesterday my flight was cancel at 4:00 am, therefore I was so extremely sleepy. I politely requested an earlier checkin. First they said to keep checking if room was ready. Every 30 or 40 minutes I would check, with front desk, and they said no, in professional manner. Requests were made after noon.
Most of the staff was polite, however the front desk clerk that worked yesterday, that had glasses and tall, was unpleasant, he spoke to me in an condescending way and he spoke in high tone, reflecting he is in the wrong profession. No patience and not a good person.The gentleman with blue eyes, finally took my passport, and gave me my room. They did not accept my passport prior, so I could off been in my room promptly by 3:00 pm. Instead I was in my room at 3:30 pm, with their nonsense process. I saw families getting their room by 2:00 pm. At Estelar Hotel in Barranquilla , they always made accommodation for me.
Hopefully management can investigate the matter, and also offer discount or compensation for the inconvenience for my family and me. Keep in mind I rented 2 rooms for only 3 people. Hopefully in the future management can make better choices of good employees, that have empathy and respect, and show kindness. Thanks Alma Moreno

However, that never happened and after a long flight I was unable to get dinner for me and companion. Very disappointed by the poor service and lack of care displayed by the hotel. You are across the street from a safe large high quality mall with food court and many restaurants and coffee shops. Easy to pick up a taxi or an Uber ride. The hotel entrance is gated and manned by a guard 24 hours, The hotel has a typical Colombian architecture with great breakfast three in house restaurants and nice bar by the lobby. The hotel was clean and had a few places to eat, a nice courtyard. The coffee shop was very good with kind service. I recommend skipping the buffet breakfast and just ordering a la carte from the coffee shop if you want higher quality and more responsive service. Overall the place feels dated, reminded me of a high end Radisson from the 1980s, wood panelling, low ceilings in the lobby etc, but they keep it well maintained...1980s time machine
