The caravan park is in a great location - right near the beach and esplanade; our cabin was a bit old but spacious - I’d recommend that you opt for a cabin that isn’t in the “duplex-style” - every time your neighbours move or talk, it feels & sounds like they’re in the room with you!

We were in a quiet area of the park. Everyone was very respectful of each other. The bird life was amazing & it was very convenient to be able to park & enter the cabin from the roadside rather than driving through the park.
The staff were very accommodating & changed a blown lightbulb very promptly on Easter weekend.
I would recommend this park to anyone for friendliness, access to everything & the cabins.

Property lacked privacy. Blinds for the front glass double door only went 1/2 way allowing anyone outside to see straight in of a night. If you had the light or tv on you were viewable to outside. As it’s a cabin the room was also your bedroom so yes everyone could see into your bed. Not good enough in this day and age. We left one day early because of this.

was amazed at just how nice this park was. The only small negative was a couple of long hairs in the shower. To be fair though, every place we have stayed on our recent travels had this same issue. Would not say it ruined any part of our travel though. Would rebook this park again.

Great location, easy access to everything comfortable stay with our 7month old in the cabin. Fantastic friendly part of the world to escape too. Only thing is having a crawling baby you tend to see things from their height and the amount of dust under the bed is kind of unsettling but nothing a good vacuum and mop can’t fix. Would stay again, and will be recommending to friends and family into the future

A gem of a place

We loved Discovery Parks, Tannum Sands and after just 2 nights we didnt want to leave. The staff were super efficient and friendly, the park was very well maintained. Its just a 600m walk along to the SLSC where they serve lunch and evening meals. The walk along millenium Esplanade up to the mouth of the Boyne River is very pleasant. Supermarkets/shopping a little over a kilometre away. We would definitely stay at this gem of a place again, if we were ever to pass that way again

I received a very nice welcome on arrival. I got the key to my cabin and park information at 1pm. I’d booked a Budget Cabin with external En-suite (shower, toilet and vanity basin) which was a locked room at the end of the carport and attached to my cabin.

The cabin was spotlessly clean, very well stocked, large and comfortable. Plenty of cooking facilities, large fridge/freezer. Air conditioning was on when I walked in so the cabin was nice and cool.

Only thing I noticed was there were no coat hangers in the wardrobe, but luckily I’d bought a couple from home.

The park was quiet, well maintained, and great location. I’d happily recommend this place for a holiday in Tannum Sands.

The location is great. Secluded from the main area, couple minutes stroll to the water and a great swimming area for the kids.
The cabin was quite run down. Ceiling joinery was too short, creating holes, bathroom door didnt shut due to swelling at the bottom, needed a full repaint and lots of wear/rot to door frames.

Beautiful location with that really classic holiday park feel. Lots of places to meet, good facilities.

The room we hired was a budget cabin. Expedia showed this as a four adult cabin and the picture was very different from the actuality (showed large communal area and a bunk bed). Park staff gave us better information but it was too late to change the booking. This made for a very 'cosy' weekend. Can you work with your internet booking agents to make sure the pictures are accurate.

Lovely location and a really nice place to stay. We only had a budget cabin but it was great - my ONLY negative was the 2x single beds were fold out futon single chair beds and were awful (not sure you would even call them beds?!) The room needed bunks or something!
But we loved having the ensuite, and the kitchen was awesome with a full sized fridge. We would definitely stay here again. Service was 10/10 :-) and very friendly and helpful.

We rented two cabins this weekend. A delux and a standard. Both were very clean and well presented. Both cabins had pretty much all we need for our stay. The only thing I can think of that the cabins lacked was more crockery & cutlery. There were only the exact number of plates, knives, forks etc to match the number of beds. Eg. our delux cabin slept 5, but there were only 5 plates, 5 sets of knives & forks etc. This made it difficult if cooking and had nothing left to dish up on to before serving. Oh, and some salt & pepper would have been very much appreciated with the tea & coffee area. But only very minor things. The staff were LOVELY! The grounds were well maintained. Very handy location. Wifi was down, but due to a storm a few nights before, so can't complain about that. Tannum Sands itself does have very poor phone reception in places, but, that just made it easier to put our phones away for the weekend and enjoy each other's company. We have stayed here before and will stay again.

Coastal over night between Mackay and the Sunshine

Had stayed here before (in a better cabin) so just assumed the booking was for similar lodgings. I was travelling with my two small children and like to overnight here as it's close to a great park, the beach and it's affordable. However..., the cabin had a locked bathroom 'outside' and set apart from the main cabin which is a nightmare with small kids. The cabin itself is difficult to access with suitcases etc when your vehicle is parked in the carport (there's no other option really) and the outdoor setting is virtually impossible to use as your vehicle again blocks access. The lounge beds are excruitiatingly uncomfortable even for children, the television reception is woeful and I got a little 'wigged out' at the number of small roaches I had to flick off my son whilst he slept. So..., no, not overly impressed - will be sure to book a better cabin next time should I be game.

Everything was there except there wasn't any mobile reception which made it a little awkward. The park was very relaxing and quiet even though it was in school holidays and there were a fair amount of people it was private.
