The rooms at Porters are beautifully kept, spacious and with ample amenities. The location is excellent and our suite was superb for our family. Staff at Porters are always a highlight - going out of their way to help and make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The surroundjng area is loaded with dining options and is a short drive to surrounding cellar doors and scenic spots that Hawke's Bay has to offer. We will be back for our third stay in April 2026!

Poor service

I made a booking but for the wrong date, human error. I rung the property to inform them but they told me they couldn’t do anything because we’d booked through a 3rd party. It was our wedding anniversary and so looking forward to staying here but they didn’t care, mentioned the system wouldn’t allow them to change the date. I’ve always wanted to stay here but due to having no empathy I’d never stay here, How hard would it be to reserve a room for the following night? Shame on you, like life isn’t hard enough!

This is a beautiful hotel, and located in the heart of a the lovely town center of Havelock North. Great restaurant in the hotel as well and wonderful options near by. The staff were very customer service oriented, and were a great help with organizing our wine tour. I'd highly recommend Porters Boutique Hotel for anyone visiting the Hawkes Bay area

Great hotel in a great location.

Had a great stay. Room was very nice and staff were lovely. They had excellent underground parking that was free and are in an area with lots of restaurants and shopping. Havelock North is a great little town. My only suggestion is that they do away with the free guest laundry. The dryers don’t work well and that situation led to bad feelings between guests. I saw numerous conflicts. Better they don’t offer it at all.

The hotel was on special so decided to gove it a crack after looking at it but skipping it for a long time. Fresh, still new, clean and plenty spacious. Underfloor heating, balcony and plenty of eateries close by, my only complaint was the bed was rock hard and every move from my partner was felt. Maybe netflix instead of sky tv but these are only minor gripes. Otherwise, fantastic place for an overnighter or shortnbreak.

A quiet, low key surprise location right in the cbd; which turned out to be perfect to walk back to after a meal and a few drinks. Very cosmopolitan feel, centralised access to Hawkes Bay taonga a-whenua, a-moana, a-awa.

A treat for him & me on my birthday.

Friendly staff & comfortable room. The firm bed was best we’ve ever had. The shower was weak sprayed water over the floor and needed more bathroom bench for toiletries. Had a lovely evening meal at Malo but felt rushed out of restaurant even though staying at Hotel.

Overall one of the best accommodation properties in Hawkes bay, nice and comfortable room, bathroom and bed, slept well considering I normally don't at hotels.

i think the staff can be trained to be a little more courteous and smile when interacting with customers, everyone i bumped into looked very serious all the time.

View is of the roof and courtyard and was bit disappointed there was no bath (but probably an oversight on my part as likely a different room type) for the kids. But generally clean and tidy and would be perfect if I was here by myself for work etc.

The room was amazing, Spacious lovely furnishings. The bathroom looked like out of a magazine. The bed was a bit hard but I do like a softer bed. Could have done with a soft topper. Great hotel.

Extremely clean. However you do pay for a king sized bed which is actually just two single beds pushed together with a rather large and hard line down the middle. If you roll on to this it literally hurts. I was so disappointed as I probably had two of the worst nights sleeps I’ve had in a very long time due to this. That is not at all what I paid for.

Lovely boutique hotel

Welcoming staff on the front desk. Lovely spacious room with quality furnishings and interesting artworks on the wall. Short stroll to boutique shops, cafes and restaurants. Yummy Danish pastries available at the bakery opposite the hotel - ideal for breakfast if you prefer a light meal at that time. Would like to have enjoyed these on our balcony, but a coach with engine running was parked below. Suggest that coach boards passengers in the adjoining carpark to reduce congestion at the entrance and disturbance to rooms.

Had my pre wedding night here with my friend, then wedding night with my husband. Room was nice, specified it was for our wedding so would have loved a room with a better view! Shower made a weird noise - sounded like bees were trapped inside!! Also had room service delivered after midnight and it arrived with no covers/lids on the food - thought this was a bit unhygienic. Overall had a nice stay
