Check in was clunky. You needed to call to get a code, but the confirmation email had one incorrect and one correct number. The free phone in the building listed the correct number but no one answered after numerous attempts. Finally emailed both listed emails to get a response.

Whole building smelled like petroleum.

Room was run down, but fairly clean and safe.

Bathrooms were also rundown.

Kitchen had basics, but don’t expect anything besides free water.

Only stayed one night instead of two. Floors were dirty. Some of our group were uncomfortable staying in a room opposite of where the shared bath and shower facilities were located. The other guests were loud. The surrounding area seemed off the beat and track, but not bad. Parking was available nearby. I did call staff to try to ask about nearby laundry facilities and restaurants. I started by saying that I knew they did not have laundry services, but the person just got upset with me and said \"we do not have that\" and hung up on me. I tried to call back but never got anyone to answer the phone after that. Very rude. Very frustrating.

Misleading pictures and descriptions. The geo thermal pool is a block away and community, not on site and you have to pay. The bathrooms were tiny, dirty and the woman’s room had no lock. Most dispensers had no paper towel and the overall feel was grimy.

Yuck ! Worst place we have stayed in Iceland. Toilet room stuck of mould and sewage. Really weird , mouldy shower. Small room. Bad vibes all round. We hated it so much we cancelled our second night and booked elsewhere, thus, loosing the cost of the room. Complete dive!

We thought this place had a decent room and shared kitchen area, although only one out of the two stoves turned on when my husband and I were cooking. The shared bathroom situation was a bit of a challenge for me since I'm in my third trimester, and to get there I had to go through three doors and a brightly lit hallway in the middle of the night. All in all, it's a good place to sleep if you can get through the night without having to pee.

No front desk for this property. Per the cleaning lady: \"if its not between 4pm and 9pm, staff does not usually respond. Like many others i did NOT receive a message with check in info, but I was aware that they frequently have this issue and called in the morning for my door code. Its time for a chahge in how you handle check in, Riverside.
Rooms were clean. No rug or shoe rack, so lots of dirt and pebbles get tracked in. Spacious kitchen that is stocked with cooking ware. The walls are thicker than other hostels we have stayed, but the front door slams and can be heard through open windows.
We counted 12 rooms, but only 1 bathroom for men. 2 for women. There is an extra unisex one through the kitchen, but the window lines up with the toilet (prepare to moon the neighbors).
Showers do not have curtains, or locks on the door. You have to cross the bathroom naked to retrieve your clothes (unless you want them soaked in the shower with you). Mens bathroom also leaks under the wall, so when anyone showers the toilet is soaked around it on the floor.
Good price, good location, but just missing too many things and a bit too greedy. We would not stay again.

Not enough pots and pans for the size of the guesthouse plus one of the stoves did not work.
In the showers, nowhere to hang your towel, or your clothes.
All of the above are simple fixes that would upgrade the guesthouse.

Stressful check-in. The host was not responsive. They never sent the check-in instruction email and when I followed up via messaging them on Expedia repeatedly, they never responded. We had to call Expedia customer service (which required activating roaming service on our phone) and get them contact the property manager/host and even then they sent the passcode 1 hour after the original start time for of check-in. The stay itself went ok with no particular problem. Overall, a decent stay given its lower price range.

Fantastic accommodation, only hiccup was not receiving the codes prior and that no obe answered on the phone number provided. Another guest provided an email address and the check in eas then quicly sorted.
Suggestion: Please provide a note with email as well as the phobe number for cobtact in the foyer and state that they have an open wifi connection for which allows for email to be sent ( especially for foreign ttravellers.)

The accommodations themselves were nice, but the space likely needed more care than an off-site manager. The women's restroom had two stalls, both of which did not have toilet paper accessible from the dispensers. No other backup toiletpaper was available. No paper towels were available for drying hands at the sink. The kitchen had no dishsoap for the communal dishes. All of these things were brought up via the hotels.com chat to the hotel, and no response was received during our stay there.

The shower areas had a single body-gel/soap product and did not have standard shampoo/conditioner/soap as separate products. Bring shower shoes if you don't want to step on the common shower floor.

The beds were comfortable, room had enough space compared to other rooms we had stayed in in Iceland so it was nice to be able to to open the suitcase and still step around it.

Stayed here for the 2nd night during our Iceland trip on the way back to Reykjavik. The code for self-check in was sent the day before. We were in the exact same room again. The room was clean, the shower room worked well, the kitchen was spacious and equipped with two sets of everything (sinks, ovens, stoves, microwaves, fridges, etc). Spacious dining areas with plenty of tables and chairs. Our room was really warm (June) without even turning on the heater. We actually needed to keep the window open to stay cool. The room had nice blackout curtains as well. A little sink in the room was super convenient. Overall, an excellent guesthouse. Thank you!

The code was sent to us in the afternoon on the day of our check-in. (We read multiple reviews saying they did not receive the code, so we were concerned, but we didnt have any issue!). The room was spacious for four people. Blackout curtains worked really well. The shower room was close by, and there were washers as well (we did not use it). Kitchen was kept clean, and we were able to warm up our food in microwaves, and keep food in the fridge overnight. Overall, a very excellent stay. Thank you!

I had a horrible experience with this place. We arrived late to the guesthouse due to some trouble on our way and couldn’t get in as there was no key left. There was no pin left to get the key.
When we tried to contact on the given phone number, there was no response.
We were left outside on the street in the extreme cold weather with nowhere to go. With great difficulty got another hotel for the overnight stay.

We contacted the reception of the guesthouse the next day and she was very rude and blunt with no consideration to our ordeal.

Although the room is smaill, quite typical in Iceland, it was very clean. It comes with a wash basin. The shared bathroom is closed to the room. You are allowed to cook in the kitchen. The property itself is ideally situated in a pleasant surrounding - by the river. Parking was not a problem at all.

People... who cares

We have stayed in multiple self check in places, so we were familiar with the concept. This place however requires someone to at a bare minimum have a look to the common areas and do some sensible mantainance. The men bathroom, disgrace, flooded thanks to the shower room leaking water everywhere, one of the shower rooms had a holw in the wall were you could easily hide inside, who knows what you can find inside there. The kitchen had no light as 5 out of 8 lights were broken. We saw people arriving with no codes to self check in and waiting in the common area, hoping to get someone to answer their phone calls. The room itself was simple but enough to sleep one night, unless you find hairs all over the bed and pillow in which case, you will spend your time calling for service and get no one to answer.

The owners of this place don't care about their guests, here you will pay without knowing what you will get, and you wont be able to claim anything during your stay.

Most Icelandic guesthouses are converted from old houses and have small rooms up narrow staircases. This building is a purpose-built guesthouse with wide, hotel-style accesses which makes it a lot more accessible for people with accessibility issues. However, it loses some of the guesthouse charm as a result :) so it depends on what you're looking for!

Never encountered any staff on the property, but plenty of numbers in the guesthouse encouraged us to call if we encountered any problems. There are a few different guesthouses on this property and ours seemed to only have 1 male shower room, which I think would be a problem during busier times, but we had not. Small room. Very good location easily accessible by car. Nice new rooms with comfortable beds. Well equipped spacious kitchen. There are no windows in the kitchen/common are a which made is feel a little boxed in. There is only one shower shared between 8 rooms but it was surprisingly not a problem at all. The town itself has nothings interesting to offer. It's a good place while driving around Iceland and we would stay there again as it offers good value for money.

This is a self service hotel with no staff but that didn’t bother me. You have a code emailed to you so you don’t really need to check in. The only issues I had was the bathroom door did not have a lock and the pillow was very weak. Other than that, room was clean, bed was comfy and I liked the kitchen.

Nicer inside than it looks from exterior - clean, modern Scandi style rooms.
Good large communal kitchen
BUT - interior structure is not solid - every time a door closes, the walls shake - and the doors are on strong self closing springs so bang, shake, shake - and as for the main front door, even though it was a long way from us, it makes a massive thump every time it closes.
Then only three showers for maybe 40 guests - we didn't have a problem but it doesn't seem enough.
Only one frying pan in kitchen!
Getting the automated pass code was a hassle - it didn't arrive and they kept saying it must be in my spam folder - just send it again guys, don't make it painful.
No owner or manager ever seen - anonymous check in by number is unfriendly.
Don't get me wrong it's not bad, but could easily be much better

This place is clean and neat. There are no staff on site except to clean the place up, which they do very well. It was very quiet on the night that I stayed there. And the shared kitchen facilities are excellent. You will need to bring your own food to prepare.
And do take a stroll along the river across the street. There is a path that leads inland, where you can see windflowers and birds by the riverside.

Less then 10 min walk to the big bus station with buses to many hike destinations. The shared bathrooms are a little ghetto. One of them don't really have any places to put your towels and clothes... Otherwise the room is nice and clean. The kitchen is well equipped. The space looks nice and new.

The location for the accommodation is ideal for exporting the southern region of Iceland. The accommodation facilities where value for money with common bathroom's and kitchen areas. Room's where small but comfortable with good heating and natural light. Check in and out very easy with door PIN provided in email one week out from booking. This accommodation is great for guest's that are self-reliant and don't want to much fuss. Would return in the future.

Nice clean room that was a good size, no receptionist, you are sent a code when you pay, electronic locks on doors a bit fiddly - especially if you have large hands as they are right at the door jam. Bathrooms could be improved as they were quite far away and only had one shower and one toilet. (male toilet, not sure about the female one!)

Check your bedding and towels!

We arrived and found the hostel Is unwardened, using email to send you your room code etc.

We found that our room had used bedding and towels.

The phone number did not respond. The email simply asked the hostel and room number, after that they did not give us any reply despite numerous emails from me.

After half an hour someone turned up and gave us a clean room which was better.

He left as another couple arrived and found their room was used to and he had to return to give them another room.

Two other young guys thought their room had been used but did not complain, but in the morning said they’d been visited by bed bugs and were covered in bites!

This is a shame as the hostel itself is very pleasant and if the staff did their jobs and the phone number/email was responsive they would have a great business model.

Let down by staff!

It was a great little guest house. Really enjoyed the location. Loved the little sink in room. Pillows were substandard and Would be nice if it had basic spices or a shared pantry that people had left with dry goods. There was no dish soap to do dishes. Very clean, looks like it was very recently renovated. Nice kitchen space. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. No staff at checkin but we didn't have any issues.

民宿外街道有免費停車位，房間乾淨整體CP值很高，廚具都很完善（調味料、油需自備），浴室廁所乾淨，有附毛巾、沐浴乳+洗髮精二合一（吹風機需自備）

Le logement était parfait, très propre, rien à dire excepté l’accueil, qui se fait en self check in mais nous n’avions reçu aucun mail avant notre arrivée et nous avions eu énormément du mal à les contacter pour obtenir le code de la chambre, 30 minutes environ

Muy sucio, el suelo de la habitacion daba asco, pelusas, chicles y macarrones, un asco no se podia andar descalzo. Y la cocina tambien un asco, ningun control de la gente y su uso, y adi estaba... En fin mejor gasta un poco mas y huye de este sitio

Inadmissible. Une chambre sale : des touffes de cheveux par terre, un évier sale et bouché...
Sans parler de la salle de bain pleine de moisissures, sale et avec des traces partout.
Les torchons sont sales, tâchés et ne sont semble t'il jamais changés
