My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay here. We had no issues with getting the code to check in. Breakfast was wonderful and room was large, comfortable and clean. The location at the base of the mountain is beautiful. Felt like a gamble with some of the reviews but this was one of our favorite hotels during our time in Iceland!

We were assigned a different room than the one we booked. We tried contacting the hotel staff through multiple phone numbers never answered, through WhatsApp never responded and through hotels.com never responded. So we never got to change rooms. Of all the places we have traveled we have never not been able to receive help from a hotel. Just disappointed.

I just wanted to post because I read a lot of negative reviews before we stayed here. We had no issues with our check in. Our room number and code were sent several hours before we arrived. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was very good with a lot of options. The only thing I agreed with in the negative reviews is that it is quite hot in the room. We slept with the windows open and it was fine. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again!

One of the worst stays. No staff around to help except the 2 people who serve breakfast and make rooms but have no idea who checks in or checks out. Live witness to a family of 4 who couldn't check-in because the wrong room# and lock key were given to them and then no one picked up the phone on any of the lines. It's like a Ghost motel.
Rusty hot water. Shower closet way too small for an adult.
Breakfast is terrible. No eggs. No skyr/yogurt. No fresh fruits.
We got lucky it seems when checking in that our lock box opened. Expedia should remove this property. It's not even worth $100/night but they are charging $500/night.

Also, nowhere on website does it say that breakfast is included! That's great, but we had already prepared for no on-site breakfast (since it is advertised as a no-staff hotel).

This host needs to make 3 major changes!
1. Update your hours of operation with Online Travel Agency (OTA)'s.
2. STOP taking people's money before verifying if they can fulfill they're promise to provide lodging. (If you can take time to send an email to change the hours of your operation than you could have emailed me the code to gain entry after taking my money, thus avoiding a unsatisfied customer).
3. Make themselves available to their guests, especially in cases of emergency. Even Expedia couldn't make contact with this host. \"Free phone in lobby\" simply was not present and \"phone numbers provided were out of service.

After other guests tried helping us at the hotel, there was a general consensus this property had much to offer but was poorly managed. All our other stays in Iceland were idyllic and ranged from campgrounds, to hostels, to high-end hotels. At the very least this host could have some consideration for their neighbors who, I unfortunately had to wake up to ask permission to stay in their parking lot overnight, as they were sold out. Much appreciation to the kind lady at Drangshlid Hotel. I will book with them next time in the area!

Check-in was not ideal. They sent an email that day itself about check-in instructions but we didn't know about it and there was no one around to help or answer questions. It was a guest who told us if we got any messages that we checked or email. Then we had issues with correcting to Wi-Fi as data reception was not great.

Breakfast selection was not great. Would be great if they offered more fruit and salad.

The hot tub was filled with algae and floating cooties, our door handle to our room with nearly falling off, the toilet in the lobby was broken, check-in was hideous. Took three hours never got an email with the digital code, shower head almost fell off, no phone in lobby to contact for entry to room, tried calling the number nine times with no response. Found an employee and was told to go away and use Whataps. Do not recommend runaway and go elsewhere.

This is not actually a hotel. This is a SCAM. We booked eight months in advance of our trip and of course were immediately charged. Then, a day before our trip, it occurred to us that we hadn’t been sent check in instructions. I looked in my inbox and had received only one communication from the owners with an out of service phone number and fake email address. We tried many different ways to get the contact info to check in but after reading additional reviews it became clear we would need to scramble to find alternate lodging which was very expensive. We called Expedia prior to the “check in” and they said they couldn’t get in touch with the owners either so they would give us a refund. Then I notice the next day that refund has not been issued. I call Expedia back and they tell me that the hotel says we missed our check in. I ask if they have literally any proof of that, since I have so much proof of TRYING to check in and not being able to. Expedia continues to reject my refund despite many people having the same experience as me and I have to dispute the charge with my credit card. DO NOT BOOK.

Fine continental breakfast. The hot tub isn’t hot, just kind of lukewarm and as this is Iceland it’s frickin’ cold outside so you can’t really enjoy the soak. 😕 It needs to be maintained consistently at 100 - 102 degrees F or provide some means for guests to add some additional hot water while they are in it. Oh, and while I’m on the subject of hot water, the water pressure in the room fluctuates periodically and the shower fluctuates between quite hot and icy cold every few minutes. That needs to be addressed!

The location is breathtaking; the log cabin style building, gorgeous. No staff except 1 cleaner who looks like they hate life; no front desk, no one to call (though the flyer gives a phone#, nobody answers); no one answered our emails. We arrived early and asked to check in early, no response from anyone; waited 5 hours in the living room until they finally emailed our key code (the building was entirely empty of guests, so no reason to not let us check in early-rude). The hot tub was broken the entire week. We requested they turn up our shower water heat as it was only warm the first day. They gave us a room with a single queen; I booked 1 with 2 twins and requested they give us a different room or a refund. The housekeepers immediately came over and went into the room and split the bed (it was just 2 twins pushed together!!; beware if you booked a queen). The breakfast was alright, and they had a phenomenal tea selection and a coffee machine (that would only spit out about 4 oz of coffee per time which ig is common in Iceland). The windows were absolutely filthy; they should hire a pro to clean them. No sheet on the bed just a blanket and comforter. 1 small tv close to the ceiling that worked. The room above us was very squeaky whenever the other guests walked around. World's smallest fridge that only fit about 2 beers. Price was nice but I wouldn't stay here again given no staff anywhere on or offsite and nobody seemed to care about the premises (gutters leaked)

Booked a room with 2 twin beds, got a single bed, a out queen size. No one there to help, trued messaging several times on Expedia, whatsapp, and calling, no response on any platform, and the phone lines were busy for over half an vout when i gave up. The TV didnt work, and the bathroom was freezing, as the heater in there also didnt work. All matters brought to staffs attention on bkth expedia messaging amd whatsapp, and nothing back from them. Very disappointed overall with the experience, no staff on site to help, just numbers to call or text, which was no response, or busy, almost like they took the phones off the hook and left them off for the night.

This “hotel” is a fraud. Do not book. They supposedly have remote checkin where you call for a code. The number does not work, so there is no way to get in. Then they claim you are a no show and refuse to refund you. This is not the only review like this. Read the others. Hotels.com should remove them from their site. It mystifies me why they don’t. I would leave negative five stars if i could. AVOID.

The property is beautiful and extremely clean. The room we were in had a double bed and a king size bed. They were very comfortable. The bathroom and shower were great. We enjoyed the hot tub. The breakfast was much better than we expected! They had eggs and bacon and many types of pastries and cereal! Excellent stay in a quiet and convenient place. Close to Vik but far enough away to get quiet. A great place to see Northern Lights - but it was too cloudy for us to see any.

Practically impossible check in. If it wasn’t for the wonderful house keeper we would have never gotten checked in and would have had to sleep on the lobbies couch. Called countless times to no avail for someone to give a code to check in. No phone anywhere in the facilities. The hot tub actually had algae in it. The room was VERY small. (Watch your head) Only saving grace was a comfy bed and a nice breakfast spread. Would not recommend.

The rooms were tidy, which was appreciated. However, the check-in process was extremely frustrauted as we were unable to reach anyone during this time. Hopefully, the issues with the check-in service can be addressed for future guests as we were the lukcy ones with the ability to even check in like guests. Overall, there's room for improvement to provide a more seamless experience. The rooms while clean required maintenance like the door to the balcony not functioning and in response, staff members claimed it is what it is without any attempt to repair.

Stayed in room 102. The hotel is a beautiful log cabin design with a lot of neat touches such as the carved bears in the staircases. The room is a nice size with a mini fridge that is only big enough for a couple drinks. Bed was comfortable. The breakfast was great. A large variety of sweets, cereal, fresh bread and even eggs and bacon. Had no issues getting the code or opening the lockbox that held the key. Recommended. Close to Skogafoss and the amazing hike to Kvernufoss.

This property DO NOT HAVE ANY STAFF. The staff only comes in the morning to prepare breakfast for guests. They will emaill you a few hours before check in for the code to your room. Don't worry, if they don't there is a phone yiu can use to call the owners. This is a beautiful property! Surrounded by mountains and waterfalls it is an amazing accomodation! breakfast is amazing! However, there's flies!!! So just beware. The rooms are huge! The kitchen has unlimited supply of coffee,, tea and biscuits! We will definitely stay again!

The facility is in a beautiful location and the staff was very friendly. Parking was also not a problem, although the website states that no on-site parking is available. Breakfast was also excellent.
One area for improvement - the beds are very close to the wall where the windows are. As a result, the drapes hang over the bed and contact the person in the bed, which can be starling during sleep.

The check in process should be better if owner can give precise response. I called and they said we would get codes to check in within 24 hours, but got code in the last minute. This made us very uncomfortable since it is our first time to come in this new place and worried no room.

Also, I booked 3 double twin rooms and only got one twin room. I sent request and no any response.

The cabin was so cozy with the mountain back drop right down the road from Skogafoss, a BEAUTIFUL waterfall with a trail system behind it. There is also a great restaurant next to this waterfall. 5 minutes away from the cabin there is also a great cafe called Taxi Cafe.

The hot tub on this property is awesome. No chlorine, just heated freshwater, and it’s kept clean. Our room and bathroom was cozy as well. Breakfast items were served from 8am-10am. The eggs were powdered, and the quality of the food was sub par, but it was something to eat. There is a coffee machine available most hours.

Some of the downsides, you are only given one towel for bathing, and one tiny refrigerator enough to hold two sodas. The service was terrible. I asked the staff a question on two occasions and they rolled their eyes and ignored me both times. The bathroom window was cracked then glued back together with a window sticker to cover it. Instead of a view of the mountain, we had that.

Overall, would go back again. We had a lovely stay, check in was easy, and the facilities were good.

Pro: Picturesque country setting. Great concept. Clean facilities. Beautiful building. Smelled welcoming like coffee and waffles. Snuggle soft beds. Delightful quiet. Snacks upon arrival. Breakfast was ample and that was a surprise given no on-site staff. Cons: no ice, no way to cool room or ventilate. Attic room had slanted ceilings and it was comical to move around room. If provided another room, or a fan, or available ice to cool down, I would recommend. I do not recommend the slanted ceiling attic room with the huge header log running through it. Other log houses generally use that pitched room for a closet or storage. Too exhausted to pursue recourse. Woke up twice to put wet wash clothes on body to cool down. Had to crawl over husband to get out of bed. Room was a real disappointment.

There is no check-in staff on duty and codes for room keys are sent via messages. We had two rooms. We were given the code for the key to only one room. Despite repeated Expedia messages, text messages and unanswered phone calls we were unable to get the 2nd key until we used WhatsApp to call late on our arrival date.

Once we had the rooms, one of them didn't have windows that openned and a shower with hardware that rattle and moved in the wall.

A beautiful place, a nice breakfast, but just terrible checkin and room quality experience.

This property has so much potential. A welcoming staff would make all the difference. Instead, there is an impersonal check in process with no flexibility. We had an injured party who needed to rest, but we could not reach anyone to inquire into an early check in. We had to wait to be emailed the room number and combination for the key. One of the rooms had a weird smell from the plumbing but the smell dissipated if you ran the shower. Breakfast was however superb.

We were provided a different property down the street on a much smaller cottage with fewer amenities. Zero Communication and Misleading Booking

It seems like the actual hotel/lodge building was sold (?) Or something. We booked a room in the lodge and were instead given a cabin away from the lodge (which was fine but very odd since we were offered zero explanation). Additionally, we were told there was breakfast available at the lodge but it was empty and no breakfast the next day (we were then told we were an hour late even though we arrive for it at 7 when were told to be there). The next day we tried for breakfast at the lodge again and again were told we were somehow late and also a woman told us that it was a private house and \"no longer\" hotel Lambafell. (Someone did come by and deliver some sort of breakfast but it was again very confusing). Clearly some sort of ownership change is happening that they are not communicating to already booked guests? Overall confusing. The cabin was fine except the shower was inconsistent temp (scaldingly hot or cold) and also it leaked during a rainstorm.

However , it appears that the rooms are new- the tv in the room didn’t work (not hooked up to the router?), the shower water temperature fluctuated between very hot and very cold - only the handheld shower head worked. The location does not have on-site management, which was a surprise - you call the management company to receive a code.

Check-in process was difficult, the property did not provide a code 24hrs prior to arrival as stated in their check-in instructions, the lobby phone was not working, and there was no wifi at the hotel. We had to turn on cellular data to contact the hotel directly, and despite asking for assistance with the wifi twice we received no response from the property. The television in our room was also not working and the garbage hadn’t been emptied prior to our arrival. The room had a smell, so we had to keep our windows open all night. The property looks like it has excellent potential, located in a very picturesque spot, and perhaps if we visited during prime tourist season our experience would have been different, but for the price we paid we were fairly disappointed with our stay.

I have to say that the building and its location are just beautiful!
Our room had very low ceilings and getting to the bed I had to bend over and cracked my head a couple times! But I'm sure that's not the case in every room. The only other thing was that the breakfast was nice, but the eating space was very tight for the number of people.

This place is fine. It's not a good value- small rooms, no amenities, not much nearby, no toiletries aside from a shampoo/body wash bottle. The location is beautiful, surrounded by scenery. We were nervous about check-in but emailed the host in advance and received the info needed. Housekeeping walked in on us a day before check out, they need to do a better job of keeping track of guests coming and going. There's water and coffee available at all times in the breakfast area which was great, we never felt unsafe, the area was quiet but the walls inside were thin. Staff was obnoxious while doing their cleaning. Stay here if nothing else is available, otherwise look closer to Vik or for an actual hotel.

The setting in the mountains was beautiful.
While the room was adorable, quite unique, the beam in the ceiling of the room was quite low. I hit my head on it a few times!

The building is unique and very comfortable, the location was a bit hard to find in the dark but easy to get to and the roads were in good shape. The service was substandard, especially the breakfast room and staff. Breakfast was from 8am to 10am but they closed down and did not replenish the breakfast after 9am so if you are late then you are out of luck. The hot tub was luke warm and the bathroom by the hot tub was out of toilet paper which was very inconvenient. For the price there is better out there.

Stayed in lots of places in Iceland over the past 2 weeks. This was the worst. Uncomfortable beds, smallest room, uneven water pressure and hot water.

Included breakfast was surprisingly good.

Very nice property. The breakfast was great. We were exited for the property’s hot tub, however, it was very disappointing because the hot tub was not hot. At most it was 85-90 degrees Fahrenheit. Nowhere near the 104-106 degrees noted on the sign next to the hot tub.

Horrible stay, not worth anything near cost

The bad: Very uncomfortable beds and sheets. The bathroom smelled like sulfur and no soap was provided. The shower temperature was finicky. There is no one at the property to answer any questions or help out. The sound is awful and you can hear all other guests in the building. The hot tub was not hot and it had algae growing in it.

Check-in was ridiculous. The listing said that an email would be sent out 24 hour in advance. It was not. When I called during the specified check in time, I was hung up on. The owner seems to ONLY speak to someone who has called on the phone that is inside the property building.

The good: The location is beautiful. The sheets smelled clean.

No staff to help with queries! Couldn’t get in our room til almost midnight! Phone numbers on the doors are not answered and spent almost 2 hours on the phone with Expedia in the middle of the night to get in. Over priced for what you get but clean and well maintained

It was a nice place, but way overpriced. We enjoyed the free breakfast and easy check in, but were surprised at how expensive it was for limited amenities and a very average room. Would definitely stay again if it were cheaper!

Loved the building, very quiet, no one else in the entire building.
We originally thought that there was some water quality issues or sewage drainage being our room had a sewer gas smell to it. Used the first floor bathroom and did not notice any issues there. After visiting another hotel, realized it must have been the smell of \"minerals\" in the water.

Looked so nice in photos, but in person the bathroom facilities are soooooo dated & rusty. The rooms only have a tiny refrigerator. Just not what we were comfortable staying at, and they didn’t offer a refund, or any discount. The little homes out front were a MUCH better option.

Stayed here 8 years ago and was happy to be staying here again. In a beautiful area with a great hike to a geo thermal pool tucked away in the mountains. Breakfast service and hot tub! Look forward to another future stay here.

Cute hotel at the end of a private drive. We had room 201 and shared with friends of ours. The room was very tidy and spacious, with a lovely balcony with great views. Yes, the bathroom smelled like sulfur but it's common in Iceland with hot water.

The common area was very spacious and was a great place to hang out. We loved the breakfast served in the morning, which was just enough fuel for the start of the day. Unlimited access to coffee and cookies was also a delight throughout our stay.

We enjoyed the hot tub outside, but wished it were a tad bit warmer. Overall, this was our favorite hotel that we stayed at in Iceland. It's private, quiet, has an easy check-in process, nice breakfast, and is very spacious.
