This was a great hotel as long as you know what to expect. The room was small and there is no TV. I knew this in advance, so not rating down for that. The beds are VERY firm, so if this is an issue, this might not be the hotel for you. We only had one night here so it was tolerable. Staff was very friendly and there were some amenities like the sauna that we didn't try out so can't speak for those.

Parking was available at the hostel. I would definitely stay here again as it was very clean, quiet and adequate accommodations of showers and common space to easily move around. The privacy of my bunk was great and ability to have an outlet and light inside the bunk, and a locked drawer was absolutely appreciated. Lived this place!

First time in a hostel, didnt know what to expect but i was pleasantly surprised. It was quiet and the rooms were clean. The showers were not very clean and the breakfast had very few options so im glad i didnt pay for it.

This was a great value and a great place to start our Iceland adventure. The friendly staff greeted us with lots of information and a smile. We arrived early (late morning) after a red eye flight and the staff helped us find a place to eat and worked on getting us into our room as soon as possible. Room was basic but clean and in great condition. We had private bath and everything worked well. The area in front of hotel is a little industrial but there is an adorable horse farm behind the property and this is what you see from the room and from the hotel restaurant and terrace. The on site restaurant and bar had great food and service and made our first day very easy. They also have a nice breakfast buffet in the morning for a charge. If you have time to shop, there is a grocery store walking distance and communal kitchen facilities (at least for storage of food). Not sure about cooking. We had a car and did our own thing but it also appeared possible to book tours and activities through the hotel.

We truly had a wonderful stay at Midgard basecamp! The staff were fantastic, the room was comfortable, the amenities were amazing(special shoutout to the shoe drying station) and the restaurant was delicious. We will gladly return next time we are in the area.
Ps: we also booked a guided tour with them and it was a truly fantastic experience and a highlight of our trip, we can't recommend it enough!

This was an amazing hotel. It is perfect for persons going on excursion/trip. The rooms are simple but the beds are comfortable. They have a hot tub outside, which was more than welcome. The staff is very nice and accomodating.

The first to say is that Midgard Base Camp does not feel like the stereotypical hostel that one imagines. This starts with the lobby area that has a fun and cozy setup and the restaurant and bar area. Also, the room options are more than just a shared room with bunk beds and community bathrooms. Those do exist but we stayed in a private family room with a private bathroom. There is a hot tub and sauna that we also used. Gina, the hostess, is very fun and provided us with good information. The location fit our needs for our tour of the South of Iceland. There isn’t much else around this area to stay and Midgard offered a good option and is also close to various food options. We would definitely return.

We stayed in a private room which was a bit small, the worst part was the stomping that we heard consistently above us from 7pm through 1am. This was very frustrating as we are light sleepers. We did not get the rest we needed. I understand its a hostel but I am just unsure how there was so much constant activity until after midnight. Not sure we would stay again.

The property has a great view of Eyjafjallajökull on a clear day and is within walking distance of the local grocery store: Krónan. Parking can be a challenge and is often full during the evening. I would recommend creating dedicated parking for guests who are spending the night there.

This location was our FAVORITE of the 4 different locations we stayed during our recent trip to Iceland. We were a family of 5 and I was nervous about the bunk arrangement but it was PERFECT! The bathroom facilities provided privacy as well. But the BEST part of the location was the STAFF who were amazing! They were so friendly and clearly enjoy working together. The atmosphere is relaxing - we spend the evening playing cards in the main room and had a blast. The food was FABULOUS and FRESH. We even spent time speaking with the Chef. I would stay here again without hesitation and would highly recommend to anyone.

Great place to stay! This is by far the nicest hostel I stayed in while in Iceland. The rooms are great- I love that they have privacy curtains on all the beds and huge lockers. The hot tub and sauna are a massive bonus, especially if you’re doing Fimmvorduhals and Landmannalaugar while you’re in the area. Showers and WCs are great, tons of them and roomy. Plus a small kitchen that gets the job done! Staff are also amazing, I couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Midgard was a great base for us as a stop off after some adventures a long the south coast, and off again to explore again the next day. We'd highly recommend this hotel for anyone either looking for someone to stop off, or even for a longer stay to base yourself for a few days. It is ideally located to easily reach all along the South Coast.

Friendly staff! Booked room with private bathroom and the room was spacious and modern. Great facilities including a shared kitchen , hot tub sauna and laundry. For the kids there is a tv and foosball table in the lobby with a ps4 to entertain the kids. On site restaurant and bar as well. Family owned business with super friendly staff.

Friendly and helpful staff. We ate adventure burgers in the restaurant which were divine. We spent a nice hour in the hot tub (very hot) and in the morning we used the guest kitchen to make sandwiches and coffee for the day. Quirky!

Pretty popular place as both hostel and guest rooms. Large and modern common spaces to hang out and cook. Laundry for $10 total, one machine but it was available. Our private room was quite large. Didn't pay for breakfast, it looked fine, the Kronan down the road had some pastries and sandwiches for cheaper.

The window curtains had huge gaps so it was very bright as soon as the sun came up. And horrible shower curtain so the water floods most of the bathroom, standard for Iceland.

MIdgard Base Camp was an awesome place. Great place to use as a base for day excursions. Food was a little pricey, but thats par for the course for Iceland. Accommodations are clean and in very good condition. Staff helpful and friendly. N1 station nearby with excellent convenient store located inside.

You cannot find a better group of people. They went WAY over and above. I had hoped to visit Westman Island but the ferry website was difficult to understand. One of the employees use to live there and made all the arrangements for us to travel there the next day and wrote step by step directions. The Midgard Chef served a dinner to die for. He was kind enough to show my son around the kitchen and even got us reservations at a Michelin star restaurant on the island. Wish we had booked more than one night here. Can't say enough about the place.

We had a great stay! The view was lovely, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were really nice snd welcoming and showed us around the place that felt very homey. There is a hot tub and sauna on the roof and well equipped clean guests kitchen.
