The hotel has sewage issues. My room smelled. Airco is not working, only hot air! Had to sleep with the window open and getting waked up at 4.30 by early morning prayer from the iman at the corner! Breakfast is below average and no cook at the egg station. After various complains they pre cooked the omelets or a waiter tried to fry some eggs my 5 year old does better!

I was utterly disappointed that the cell phone signal, as well as their wifi signal, was almost non-existent, whether in-room or in the lobby. For a three-day business trip, this was a major disruption in my work. Breakfast was so so without the traditional Turkish Ayran drink. Despite the fact that I was keeping my towels off the floor they kept changing it with no regard to environmental considerations.

DO NOT STAY - If you're going from US or EU....

This hotel is not 5-Star as it's listed. DO NOT STAY in this hotel. The rooms does not have independent AC. There is a center unit that is turned on from 12:00 - 07:00 PM only. An it does not work. The staff are unable to understand any English. We had to change the room, but still could not sleep at all due to the heat. We had to leave the windows open and also the door to the room for air to move. Bathrooms are old and doesn't drain.

Very old smelly. Mould stains in bathroom with Flakey crumbling ceiling .
Bedsheets pillows old uncomfortable. Also the aircon filters didn't seem to be clean either .
The carpet in all of the building was so dirty it seems as though it's never been cleaned or changed since the building has been built. They try to mask the smell with spraying air freshener which makes it worse and toxic.

Feedback was that the hotel was not the greatest however very convenient location for getting to meeting - within walking distance. Rooms even though booked as non-smoker contain ash trays and smell considerably of stale cigars i.e. hotel does not stop guests from smoking in their rooms.

One of the Best Hotels I have ever been in

This hotel exceeded my expectation. Great room, great lobby, fantastic breakfast, very kind staff.
I stayed there for 2 weeks and I loved every single moment of it.
The hotel is in a perfect location. Very close to Kizilay (10 min with taxi which will be around 12 TL), and then you can go anywhere from there. There is also a subway station right next to the hotel. Also, a big market (MIGROS) right across the street.
The only complain is that the staff don't know English, but you can communicate with them and do your things.

I chose this hotel as it was close walking distance to where I needed to be for a meeting, and was suggested by the company.
I found the front staff to be friendly and pleasant and the place to be reasonably comfortable. I utilise one restaurant which was generally empty during my stay so staff were attentive and food was quite good.
As for the room, it was comfortable but after housekeeping cleaned it, the need looked as though I did it myself and the first night I was there I found a hair on the bed making me wonder if the linin had been changed. Whereas in other places I've stayed the beds were smooth and tidy, here it looked like I'd been using the room.
Room service is 24 hours but never answered and I had to get the front desk to try a few times, then the order was brought partially correct.
Fortunately it was a cold time of year because the air conditioning only blew hot air, and this was a complaint I read of in other reviews.
If you can overlook these few issues some of which might be random occurrences then it's not bad for a short visit to Ankara.

decent hotel 5 minutes walking from the Mausoleum

we stayed here on our first first to Turkey. The location is across from the metro station which we did not take advantage of. There are several local restaurants across the way. We visited the Museum and Mausoleum here on our way to Cappadocia.

Hotel need to rearrange their customer service

The hotel looks fantastic in photo. It has a good location, near a railway station and subway. Its proximity to Anitkabir (mausoleum of Mostafa Kamal Ataturk) is a great advantage for the travelers.
I stayed two nights there with my partner. It was not a good experience for us. We felt that we were not greeted properly and the staffs in the reception did not give much attention to us rather than doing their usual duties. I felt, may be, they do not bother much about the customers.
1.I felt sick when I was in the hotel. I asked for their help. They did not give much attention to that. Finally, I found a hospital for me with the help of my insurance company. Even they did not bother to ask about my well-beings after I return from the hospital. My insurance company called me through the hotel phone but they failed to reach me and later they contacted me by email. I think the staffs are very much formal, they are not used to do anything for the customers beyond their assigned duties. Being professional is good, but too much professionalism is harmful when someone really needs an emergency help. I think this hotel need to rearrange their customer service policy.
2.When I was checking out at mid-day I was told to pay an extra 30 TL laundry bill. I felt surprised. I have not used the laundry service there. The cashier (receptionist) took 30 minutes to verify that laundry bill while I waited there near her register. They put someone’s bill who stayed in this room before in my bill

My business partners told me it was the first 5-stars hotel in Ankara. I think from that time nothing really changed in this hotel - interiors are pretty old-fashioned. Good location, friendly staff, large and clean rooms, very nice breakfast (you can sit in the garden). Right on metro/bus station. Unfortunately the pool was not operating and the gym was very poor.

This hotel is excellent both for tourists as well as business trips. Weekend city excursions are very close by and there's a choice of restaurants lined up close by. Staff is very helpful and polite. Just the shower area could have been a bit better and laundry services could have been cheaper.

This hotel is in a good location. Nearby are lined up nice restaurants, supermarket, and even the weekend city excursions are reasonably close by, so it also appeals to a lot of tourists whom kept coming during my stay. The staff is warm and efficient. Just watch out for the laundry bill as their laundry services are costly.

Reasonably priced hotel in very good location

I was happy with my stay at Barcelo Ankara Altinel. The price was excellent (although it did not include breakfast - not an issue for me) and the room was very spacious. The location is good, very close to the railway station and the bus terminal to the airport; but it is a bit of a walk to the new centre of the city. There is a metro stop next to the hotel that makes moving around in the city very easy. I have two minor complaints. First, my room was not cleaned on one occasion. This may have to do with some mixup with my reservation but it was an omission. Second, on my first night there was a lot of noise coming from some kind of event hosted inside the hotel. The noise stopped at 11pm but it was very audible, even inside the room. Overall, however, for the price that I paid, the hotel was very good value for money.

Great location shame about room service

Fantastic location next to the metro, Havas (shuttle service to the airport) and Ankara Gar (train station) are all within walking distance. You can walk to the city centre (Kisilay) with shops and restaurants on either side. You'll be spoilt for choice. The staff were nice and polite.
However, the room was not cleaned daily and would be cleaned after 4 pm most days on request. The cleaning took 5 minutes which comprised of emptying the bins and wiping the floor with a detergent while I waited outside the room.
The swimming pool was out of order with no alternative arrangement or warning which was annoying since it was one of the reasons for choosing this hotel.
It is a 4 star hotel at most but has potential to be really good - maybe this review will help them improve the service.

the room was really small and you had almost no space except bed and the did not do house keeping well, they forgot to replace shampoo!! and housekeeping used to knock the door to see if you are not in room to clean the room! and the drainage for shower was not working well and the workers could not speak english very well. the only good thing was that they workers were trying to be nice and help you!

Stayed four days at this Barcelo, in three different rooms. In general, the hotel is in poor repair and is staffed by under experienced and questionably managed staff, some of whom are not quite rude but do border on sullen. First room smelled of mildew and mold with windows that did not open. 2nd room also had windows that were in poor repair and did not open with a broken room safe that failed to open after closing (I did test it). Staff seems challenged by reservations made over the Internet. Both locating and extending them. Breakfast had a lot of variety, but in general food quality was poor and with some items borderline stale.

Low rate balanced the room out and while that compensated for the poor repair, in general the staff tips the balance against my staying here again.

Located in an area that isn't particularly interesting or inviting, this hotel does what it says on the packaging. It provides a 4* star service and is accessible to the metro and very close to the Havas Bus station which most people use to get to/from Ankara airport. I'd have preferred to be closer to the centre, but for the price/ standard of rooms, it was worth staying there. I.e. comfort of room/ bed is fairly important to me. I found the bed comfortable and I liked that the floors weren't carpeted but rather parquet.

We did not expect this hotel to be more than a 3-star, based on reviews from Tripadvisor, so this hotel met our expectations. The hotel is a bit worn but we got a good rate so we felt that the hotel is adequate for what we paid for. It was clean, good size, and decently located. The reception desk was friendly and helpful. The hotel is near a few of the tourist sites. If you are looking for a clean, good value hotel, in a good location, but do not mind that it is old and worn looking (3-star european standard), I would recommend it.

Barcelo Ankara Altinel

This hotel it the oldest 5 start hotel in Ankara and it was taken over by the Barcelo chain. The hotel didn't go any mayor renovation than just the change the name in the building. The only nice place is the lobby. the rooms are dirty, the tv was not working and even after 2 phone calls no one came to fix it, until our self made it worked. The tub was clogged and when taken a shower you ended up with the water up to your knees as it takes forever to drain. When requested extra towels no one sent it to us and we have to go and asked to a housekeeper on our floor if we can have one.

Even the lobby is not comfortable with all the security and the metal detector at the door making lots of noise.

Only the staff at the reception were rude and not interested in providing a good service in particular the night staff.

The buffet breakfst is ok but is not fair, that anyone can walk in and eat without anyone checking if it was included in your room or you have to pay for it. Also if you get up for a second service they waiters don't even bother to check if you are done. They cleaned our table twice even thought our coffee cups were full and very obvious not finished.

I all a bad experience for the price. There are nicer hotels with better locations.

The good think is just beside a subway station and just around the corner from the entrance to the Atatürk Mausoleum.

Onun dışında odaların anahtar kartları devamlı bozuluyor odanıza giremiyorsunuz, uğraşıyorsunuz, güya odalar renove edilmiş ama eski görüntü devam ediyor, renove edilen odaya yattığınız yere yakın priz olmayan dünyanın hangi oteli kaldı acaba??? Otel Ankara'nın en eski otellerinden, çocukluğumdan beri bilirim ama maalesef bunca sene aynı kalmış. Her şey çok çok eski, otelden çok müze gibi. Mobilyalar, aksesuarlar her şey. Zamanında güzelmiş ama artık değil. Hiç beğenmedim asla tavsiye etmem. Duş aldıktan sonra banyo göle dönüyor. O kadar paranın yarısına çok daha modern ve konforlu bir sürü otel var Ankara'da. Fakat 15 1 Hill restoran harika otelle alakası yok. O kısmı tavsiye ederim. Ortam, yemekler, mezeler, personel on numara.

Otel restoranından yemek istemedim ve dışarıdaki favori restoranımdan yemek söyledim. Yemeğimi alacakken kuryeyi gören otel çalışanı dışarıdan yemek söylemenin yasak olduğunu söyledi. Sanki yasadışı bir şey yapıyormuşum gibi koşarak asansöre gidin dedi. Bu kadar basit bir şeyin sorun edilmesi çok rahatsız ediciydi. Dinlenmek için geldiğim otelde yemek siparişi için koşmaya mecbur bırakıldım. Ankara'ya tekrar geldiğim zaman sırf bu sebepten dolayı tercih etmeyeceğim bir otel olarak hatırımda kalacak. Halbuki böyle bir şey olmasaydı her şeye 5 yıldız verecektim (banyodan gelen yoğun gider kokusuna rağmen).

Fiyat farki odeyerek cirner suit olan odayi aldim fakat ida girseldekilerden cok farkliydi olumsuz yonde.resepsiyona bunu belirttigimde idamin suit oldugu soylendi ailemin yaninda daha fazla itiraz edip moral bozmak istemedim gorsellerdeki suit odada konaklamadim

Anitkabire ve yht garina cok yakin

Suit odanin konumu ve buyuklugu cok iyiydi. Bir ara odada su kesintisi oldu ama saniyorum genel bir bakim calismasi vardi. Prizler ilginc sekilde yanlarindaki dugmeden isik acildiginda elektrik verecek sekilde calisiyordu. Ancak kahvalti salonunun tasarimi ve kahvalti icerigi oldukca iyiydi. Otelin genel yapisini ve profesyonelligini begendim
