Wonderful stay at Lamphu Tree House

We had a wonderful stay at this tranquil oasis along the quiet canal.The food at the restaurant was very good. The staff attentive and friendly. The rooms are clean and well decorated, however quite small. The beds are a bit too firm for my taste. The pool area has a nice set up with lots of shade creating a perfect environment for kids and adults alike. Great location!

Great option for a peaceful, quiet stay

We had reserved a room with twin beds but when we arrived, they said they only had rooms with one bed. After quite a lot of discussion and insistence, they eventually found a room with twin beds. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. We love the location, in a quiet leafy neighborhood. Walking distance to several nice cafes like Velodome coffee and Gaginang roof top bar.

We loved Lamphu Tree! Very nice employees, so much so they even mailed our computer to us that we left behind, all for 200 bhat! Great location but far enough away from Khoa San Road that you could relax. Great value and overall would definitely stay again!

Very tired rooms. Tatty old air conditioning unit, ran only freezing cold. Shower room tiny with shower that leaked (they did repair it when we informed them though) mouldy shower curtain and extremely dirty floor mat in shower cubicle. The sink was in the bedroom, which was also small so a very odd arrangement. There was a balcony but no table and chairs to sit outside. So having a balcony was not worth the additional cost.

No tea and coffee making facilities in the room. They were provided but only in reception.

Amazing hotel. This is a great choice to be close to all the big sights on Bangkok without breaking the bank. There are many restaurants, convenience stores, laundromats, stores, and bus stops within a 5 minute radius. There is half a flight of stairs up to the elevator which might be an issue for people with mobility issues. Wifi also became sporadic at night which could make remote work difficult if you need the internet.

This hotel was a perfect location in Bangkok. Super quiet after walking around Bangkok in the heat. Great to cool down in the pool and drink a cold beer on the patio. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. Luggage could be stored in a secure location.

it has characters, cars can 't get to the entrance, got stairs to go up to lift and its only for second floor, so more stairs to climb if you are on first floor, not for elderly with heavy luggages, no kettle in rooms for tea and coffee, only in entrance hall so you can have them in opening next to pool or launge. staffs were all pleasant.

The hotel location is great, tucked down on a quiet canal but within walking distance to Khao San Road.
The staff are welcoming and helpful. Our room was clean, the bathroom is a little tired but functional. The only negative is that the bed was very hard which wasn't great after a long flight!
Breakfast was great - lovely pancakes, and the restaurant food was also great.
We didn't go in the pool but it looked clean and inviting and has a lovely little decking area.

With a little TLC, this place could be great.

This hotel was soooo close to being top shelf. Location right on the canal was great and the neighborhood was very walkable. The decor was charming and very Thai. However, there were numerous small things that could have easily been improved and would make this a great hotel. There were 9 electrical switches and in our 4 night stay we never did determine what they actually did. We never did get the ceiling fan to turn on. There was only one place to sit in the suite, and it was a rattan love seat with a very hard cushion and was very uncomfortable. The elevator stopped between floors and so no matter what floor your room is on you are going to have to walk up a half flight of stair. Our room was on the top floor, so had to walk up a full flight of very steep stairs, down three stairs to the roof, up two stairs to our room and down two stair once we entered the room. Not a problem for us, but might be an issue for some. Most disturbing of all was the waste bin. There was only one in the room and it was in the bathroom. It was very dirty and unhygienic looking. Compared to the staff in the hotels we had booked in Chiang Mai and Khon Kaen, the workers here seemed to be uninterested in assisting guests.

Location was great, easy walk to the Grand Palace. We didn’t have time to use the pool but it looked nice. The breakfast was good. All of the wood paneling created a fun treehouse vibe which was nice. The room and bedding were all clean, however is do wish it was a little more comfortable. This was a basic budget hotel. Walking distance from
Khoa San Rd. Taxi driver found it hard to locate as it is on the banks of a canal. Staff friendly and helpful. We had a rollaway bed for our 3rd child and rooms next door to each other as requested. Allowed late check out (for additional cost). Didn’t try the pool as it had a slightly green tinge to it. Breakfast was included and was fine.

We had a very comfortable night here. We checked in very late but were taken promptly to our room which was clean and comfy. We only stayed one night, but they stored our luggage after check out the next morning while we explored Bangkok. They even allowed us to shower in the pool shower before our evening flight. The location was convenient.

We had a brief one night stay and the hotel fulfilled all our expectations. The hotel was not as modern as we had hoped but the Thai decoration really added to it’s character. All the staff were lovely and helpful, WiFi worked no problem and morning breakfast went down well. Don’t miss the banana pancakes and fruit! We didn’t use the pool but it looked nice. A basic stay but it suited all our needs.

The location was fabulous! So much to do and easy to get to temples, great restaurants, other activities. The Family restaurant next door is fabulous with great inexpensive laundry service. The pool was great for hot afternoons and evenings. Beautiful lounging area. We happened to be there for the Kings ordination and got a great upgrade since our room couldn’t be rented out during that time since it faced the canal. I love this place! Great bargain for a nice hotel.

Very nice budget hotel - for £50odd per night for 3 people you can’t expect much. But it was very nice, excellent breakfast (really really good!), great dinner and drinks, pleasant staff. Good pool.The location is odd for taxis so make sure you print off the map on their website. We stayed on the main building and I heard less good things about the second building.

This is a nice budget hotel. Staff are really friendly and the breakfast and dinner were ace. The rooms are small but mostly everything is fine. I gave less than all stars because there was a fair amount of mould in the shower, the aircon pipes and the bathroom in general, and that’s yucky. But overall for the price, its really a great find. Nice pool too.

I didn’t like that we were not well informed about the different activities we can do while staying in Bangkok. For instance, someone mentioned that the train market was closed, but then I found out it was open and I had no time to go anymore. Other than that, everything else was really good.

We booked a room in the annex, which was quite nice--updated, spacious room. The main downside was being a couple blocks away from the main hotel, where the front desk, breakfast and pool are located.

The location was ok; it's in walking distance to many sights in Bangkok but tucked away in a quiet canalside street that has a mix of hostels and local residents.

A hidden oasis in a noisy city.

The location right on the river front is ideal to get away from the noise of Bangkok yet it’s close to the activity of the Street market with excellent choice of restaurants. Convenient to visit the temple and palace and other places of interest, The staff were very attentive and anything we asked for was given within minutes. We chose the corner superior room on the 5th floor which gives an excellent view of the river. The room was spacious and comfortable with a good shower. Bed comfortable and sheets changed daily. Breakfast was high standard with fresh fruit, good selection of Western and Thai food. Endless supplies of coffee. The food menu is reasonably priced and it’s pleasant to sit in the garden overlooking the river. There is a pool, which is an added attraction, but it is mainly in the shade all day and there are only two loungers available and some benches around the walls. This is our only disappointment but we did have a double balcony which got the sun all of the day which we could use. The hotel organised a taxi to the airport for 500 Baht.
It’s the second time we have stayed here and we would absolutely recommend it and it is good value for money.

Lovely little guesthouse. Staff was great and the restaurant food was very decent—especially if you have just arrived in Thailand and aren’t up for street food and markets right away. Buffet breakfast was very good with a mixture of western and Thai dishes, including yoghurt, fruit and cereal. The room I stayed in was fair sized but well laid out for 2 bags and a closet to hang a few things. Hotel is located on a canal down a little soi, taxi drivers struggle to find it. On the hotel’s website they have a map with Thai directions, print it out and give to your taxi driver. Only (small) shortcoming is that the towels are getting a bit rough. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to any one who wants character and comfort but do not want to pay $100s a night.

We love the White Monkey!

Modern building, very clean and nicely decorated Ikea style. Staff is very sweet and helpful, booked a tuk tuk for us to visit some of the sites. Hotel is located in a quiet street but minutes away from the markets, the temples, and all kinds of interesting streets with lots of shops. Our room was spacious and spotless. The beds could use softer mattresses (especially the cot for our teenage son). Big fridge in the room. They also lent us an electric kettle. Breakfast was simple (hard boiled eggs, bread, butter and jam, bananas) but enough.
They also have free bicycles but we did not dare venture into the traffic.
We highly recommend this wonderful hotel with a boutique feel. And Phetchaburi is a great little town!

A little oasis in the old part of town.

A little oasis, in the old part of Bangkok, authenticity hits you in the face as soon as you walk down the path, mixing with the locals, as they go about their daily lives. It was good to arrive (all jet lagged) and be able eat dinner at the hotel restaurant at reasonable prices. I should add also that Kitty Cat cafe, almost next door was brilliant for authentic Thai food, extremely good value and service. Some bars in the area will try to charge you more than listed so watch out for that. Our room was in the second building so it didn’t feel like a hotel experience and was very private, which we loved. Being in the fifth floor we had a great view of the canal and around and was quiet room. They also allowed us to leave our luggage after check out and offered us use of shower and pool too. All in all a very good stay!

The pool was very refreshing in the humidity. The breakfast buffet was fine and did they change some of the choices each day.
The room was quite small but sufficient for us. The bathroom was a tad dated. The air conditioning worked very well. The bed was hard, which we didn’t mind. We found that most beds were hard to very hard in Thailand.

Our stay there was wonderful! The hotel was clean and well maintained, the food was delicious--the breakfast buffet was especially enjoyable, and the staff could not have been more helpful! The location is great, but it was sometimes difficult for taxi drivers to find--but the staff helped with that also by providing directions in Thai on a note you could hand to the drivers. Mixed review on the hotel room itself: bed is comfy, bizarre assortment of tv channels, and a rancid plumbing smell emanating from the bathroom during night and morning (so bad we held our nose to use the bathroom as quickly as possible). Location is decent but not great (within walking distance of the night market but that's about it). The staff that welcomed us was helpful but the gentleman that checked us out claimed that we hadn't paid our airport transfer taxi (which we did) because his colleague hadn't written it down. We left him to sort that out to go to our waiting taxi (a souped up race car that broke all kinds of speed limits and driving rules---had we not been in a hurry we would've been afraid).

The room, breakfast and staff were all fine, but the stand-out for me was this hotel's location...
Situated alongside the canal, and back from the street, it was spared much of Bangkok's perma-hum (from traffic, etc). Plus, it opens up canal-side life and there's a great Thai massage place just around the corner.
Kao San Road is a few moments in one direction, far enough that you can take it or leave it. The end terminus of the public canal boar is a few moments in the other direction (along the canal) providing fast and scenic access to the central city.

The hotel was in a great canal side location with a shaded bar on the ground floor which was a nice spot for a drink. It's not a luxury hotel but is convenient and well located; the staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed walking to Rambuttri and Khao San roads and to a local restaurant for dinner. This was a final night stop en route to the airport the next day and we didn't need a large or smart room; I would highly recommend as it's good value for the price.

Seclusion in the city

Overall it was a nice place to stay and we loved that it was tucked away down an alley off the road giving it a sense of seclusion in a busy city. Only compliant was the bed was a little too hard for us, but otherwise it was great.

Quiet location. Terrific breakfast with so many choices. We ate dinner here one night and it was great. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. Excellent location within walking distance to many attractions- 15 minutes to pier, 30 minutes to palace. Night market was close by, but not a lot of restaurants. Around the corner was a Cat Cafe which my daughter loved. Only negative was that there seemed to be a leak at the base of the toilet so the bathroom floor was always wet and the solution was to replace our bath mat. Nice pool and lobby area. I would stay here again.

Nice room near koh san road

Pros: Most of the staff was helpful; room was clean; included breakfast was quite good; easy walking distance to koh san road; near grand palace and wat pho.
Cons: Room a bit small, bed a bit hard, far from public transport.

nice quiet hotel

Lovely hotel peaceful leafy location close to canal. Close to kho san and the sights but away from the manicness. Arried very eary couldnt check in to room but was given a free breakfast luggage storage and use of pool etc. Helpful staff. Overall excelkent value for money and great location.

Do not stay here

This hotel was next to a canal so the mosquitoes were a pain in the evenings. The hotel was noisy due to thin walls and people slamming doors, not to mention some sort of hammering below us constantly. The shower was mouldy and ran out onto the floor all the time, the air conditioning was mouldy (it probably has NEVER been cleaned) and all of us got a cough while we were there. The beds, pillows and towels were very low quality. Would not recommend staying here as the place is rundown and generally dirty. We did not find the staff to be very helpful either.

Good location by a canal

Well located in a typical canal Bangkok alley. Great breakfast by the pool. We booked a top floor room with a balcony and a very nice 270 degree view of the city.

Family of seven, three generations.

We were a family of seven, three generations ages 12-75. We all felt comfortable here and the family atmosphere helped the 12 year old cope with a long trip, food he did not know, and a language he did not understand. He loved the pool too. Staff were terrific, breakfasts were good and the one dinner we ate there was very reasonably priced and good quality. Easy walking to many activities such as Grand Palace, markets, restaurants, laundry,. There really is not a negative other than not much hot water for the shower. We would certainly recommend to others.

Great stay!

My husband and I had a great stay! When we arrived (at almost midnight) we were greeted by a friendly staff member who lead us up to the desk and gave us a lovely welcome drink and showed us our room. Check in was simple and quick. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The bed is firm. Air conditioning swiftly cooled the room and was not loud. Since this hotel is off a walking path in front of the canal there is less road noise. I liked that. I also really liked how residential the area was. I think the only tourists around were from our hotel. It's not a far walk to any of the big attractions. We got a SIM card from MBK and used google maps to guide us. The food at the hotel restaurant was pricey and just okay. I did really like the chicken skewers with peanut dipping sauce, but did not like the Pad Thai. The pool is not heated, so you cool off quickly after a day out. The breakfast was great! I love banana pancakes. All the food in the breakfast buffet was very nice and it was hard to not over eat. We always had a good experience with the staff when we interacted. They were very friendly. We never had any problems with the wifi. highly recommend staying here if you want a quieter place that is near the action!
