This hotel has a beautiful lobby with a lady playing saxophone at night. It is so close to the nile and there are boats near the back of hotel which they can book for you . I keep asking for Felucca ride but there was always an excuse like there is no wind or the weather is bad but when we were out in the Nile river with a motor boat I saw there were lots of Felucca boat. They should have just been honest if their Felucca is broken/ not working and I can book from other tour operators.
The staff were polite but after paying on check- in after 3 PM we were told the room was not ready. I was not really impress with our room. It was small , outdated and not really clean .( I happened to look down and see the floor while opening my luggage). Our room was on 5th floor and our view is the building construction next to the hotel and a bit of the Nile river. I didn't know you can see the valley of the kings from this hotel ( maybe if I go to the rooftop . And reception lady didn't orient me or mention what to see from Sonesta on check -in).
My teenage son was able to swim in the pool, but the gym is small he said. We stayed in 5 star hotel in Cairo so I can't help but compare.
I'm sorry but overall I can say that I didn't really enjoy my experience in 5 star Sonesta St George Hotel.

An elegant hotel with comfortable rooms and beds. Staff are friendly and service is good. A 10 minute walk will bring you to the river side cornice which is relatively newly revamped.and a further 19 minutes will bring you to the Luxor Temple.

The room was clean and spacious with good furniture and a royal washroom. Staff were friendly, polite, and professional. The restaurants are excellent The pool itself is excellent, the only problem with it tis the dosturbing construction noise from thr adjucant property which disturbs the peace. The Gym which is practicially useless! needs to have much more weights and better machines (some are even weongly deaigned!!!).

We stayed here for 4 nights and everything was great.

Location is perfect, walking distance to Luxor Temple and Luxor Museum and just a short ride (5 min) to Karnak Temple. The corniche is also at a walking distance.

Room was spacious, not too big not too small. Unfortunately our mini fridge was not working, but no big deal. Shower is ok, nothing special. We had a small patio with partial Nile river view.

Breakfast was fantastic with plenty of options. Several breads, fruits and hot food. They also have an egg station. Coffee was great.
We had lunch at the local restaurant Beban twice and one pizza one night. Food was good and prices are similar to tourist restaurants around.

The pool is nice, although we haven’t use it, and there is also a great deck by the Nile, where we watched the sunset!

Staff is kind and polite. Special shout out to the guest relations that went above and beyond to help me with one issue with my flight.

Sonesta, set the standard for our Egypt trip, the staff, the room, the view, cleanliness. Everything was outstanding. We also used the onsite spa which provided an incredibly relaxing experience. The only thing it lacked was the food and restaurant variety around the hotel. Wahid and the other reception staff were extremely accommodating attending to our request where necessary. We highly recommend staying at Sonesta.

Room decoration is old, shower/bath had some serious issues that apparently staff wasn’t aware of it. Some kind of drainage issues that makes the bathroom into a pool when you’re having a shower.
Someone left the music at the pool lounge and it was impossible to sleep.

Our experience at the Sonesta St. George Hotel was amazing! The breakfast was absolutely delicious with plenty of options to choose from. The entire place was spotless super clean and well maintained. The reception staff were incredibly nice, professional, and very helpful throughout our stay. They truly made us feel welcome and taken care of. Highly recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Luxor!

We were lucky to get an early check-in and an upgrade to a suite, which was a nice start. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended.

Breakfast was extremely subpar — very few decent hot options and overall felt cheap, though the falafel was good. We tried dessert at the Italian restaurant (a tiramisu), and it was the worst tiramisu we’ve ever had — frozen and crystallized inside.

The room was outdated, and the AC didn’t work properly. Despite mentioning it twice, it was never fixed. We also requested robes, a fan, and other items that were never delivered. One morning we asked for the room to be turned early, and it never was. Later, when we ran out of toilet paper, we asked the manager in the lobby to send some up — he told us we had to call the front desk ourselves. Again, not five-star service.

At checkout, when I mentioned our stay was disappointing, the front desk clerk simply said “okay” and “goodbye.” That summed up the experience perfectly.

This is not a 5-star hotel — maybe a 3-star at best. The service and attention to guest needs need serious improvement before it can live up to its rating.

I did not use the pool or the spa or get a massage but
PRO:
* Room: I was moved up to the sixth floor, king bed extremely clean, beautiful room with a window of the Nile and a balcony of the street. The room came with a small refrigerator that was a bit larger than most and a hot pot, instant coffee and tea provided.
* Staff: The receptionist, security, luggage assistance we're all extremely friendly provided a map and gave good information on what I needed. There were assistants that came three times to clean, offer amenities, and water each day if needed.
* Stores in the area: thank God there was a pharmacy that provided abdomen medicine and others provided water, snacks, sparkling water etc and a couple of shops that provided trinkets and memorabilia all within 1 to 2 minutes walking.
CON:
* Room: The room/sweet had a large bathtub but a extremely small stand-in shower with shower heads on top, middle and bottom. The room did not come with a microwave. There were 5 TV stations that spoke English, BBC, and four others.
* Room service: hotel provided room service at an additional $30 charge and examine the food before paying (The egg rolls were mushy and cold)

This was going to Beatrice star review but to be fair customer service is actually really good. The reason I’m not happy with this day is because the food at all the restaurants in the hotel is quite expensive and mediocre at best. They should actually look into it. The location is okay looks sure it’s not the most beautiful city is actually terrible, but the Hotel is trying to make the experience better.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Breakfast and dinner were good. We ate lunch in the cafe in the lobby and that was tasty. Also had drinks with live music there at night which was pleasant. I had a great pedicure done in the spa. We used the laundry facilities which was cheap and excellent. Also enjoyed browsing in the stores in the lobby. Only small issue was that ATM is located outside of hotel on the street. So I was a little uncomfortable withdrawing cash there. All in all a great option for Luxor.

We had a great view of the Nile and the breakfast was good enough. I'm not a big breakfast eat a cup of coffee and maybe some bread so never disappointed at breakfast although the only comment I would make is that they need to have more fresh fruit, but that's it

The Sonesta 5 stars are fading fast in my opinion. While the variety of facilities keep the stars in place the quality of them is ignored by the ratings constellation. Want to relive your 1980’s Playboy days then check right in and head to the bathroom where you’ll find a 14-jet tub complete with alternating colour disco lights with operating panels galore (but no instructions). Climb over and in for your shower and when you’ve worked out which buttons to select you’ll be met with an 80’s variable water-heat experience.
Thank goodness for the supplied slippers because the bedroom carpet is now so old, it’s filthy around each of its bedroom edges and you won’t want to place your feet upon its tackiness. Bed? 7ft, dressed with excellent linen and very comfortable. In the partial Nile view room (like mine) I hope you’ll be happy taking it in turns to sit out on the balcony because it’s only supplied with one uncomfortable chair and a falling apart table.
Breakfast is a bun fight when 250 guests are all scrambling to get ready for their cruise or that days tour. Food options are limited. Take the fruit for example. One bowl with sliced red apples, one with sliced green apples, another with red and green slices – mixed! Another still with chopped red apples, one with chopped green apple and, you’ve guessed, one more with a mix of the two. One other bowl featured melon and this is the extent of the selection each morning. The one ‘station’ where hot water is available

We stayed at Royal Sonesta from April 13-16.2025, The rooms were great , the bathroom had jacuzzi and it was not very much in an operational state . Lots of features were not working. May be remove jacuzzi and just add a simple shower ?
Breakfast in restaurant was great in terms of selections but service was sloppy.
The pool was great and the dinner in Aladdin restaurant near pool side was very poor. Cold Bread , frozen butter , lukewarm food. not worth the experience . Staff in Aladdin was Lousy.

I don’t even know where to begin. We have been platinum Orbitz members for years and finally received a free upgrade and it was spectacular! The hotel upgraded us to a Nile view presidential suite. The room was like a time capsule but wonderful. It’s incredibly quiet despite the chaos from the city. The view is wonderful, the bed is wonderful and the staff is out of this world! The hospitality from all the employees was outstanding. The location is great with a short walk to the Nile shops and dining. There’s a market across the street to load up on essentials for very cheap. I would highly recommend a stay here!

This hotel is top-notch. They take very good care of their clients. To be honest, there was a medical emergency due to an issue with the air conditioning in our room, but they brought in a doctor and took care of the situation and even brought in the engineers and made sure everything was fixed. And took care of us to the point where they moved us to a new room. It was the most amazing experience ever. Their food is amazing. Their breakfast has so many things to choose from. You get Uber full, the pool overlooks the Nile? It is the most beautiful a vision you could imagine sitting in an infinity pool, looking over the Nile, I would highly recommend this. Hotel for a night before a Nile Cruz. This way and the next morning you could start your cruise and tour when it's not hot. Staff was beautiful, helpful, friendly.Just highly recommend this hotel
