We loved our stay at the Pingviman Hotel in the old town area of Chiang Mai. This was the first hotel we stayed in and it was a beautiful, smaller, boutique style hotel with traditional Thai elements with lots of wood and antique furniture. It was about a 15-20 minute walk to the main area with all the restaurants but we love walking so that was perfect for us. We loved the staff. They were very kind and helpful and the rooms were huge and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was smaller than we anticipated but had enough options for everyone. My youngest loved the Thai tea from the coffee and tea maker. We would definitely stay here if we are ever in Chiang Mai again.

Beautiful large room in a lovely atmospheric boutique hotel in the Old City. It had a nice tranquil vibe. Everything was clean and well-cared for Staff is excellent and attentive. Breakfast had a good array of choices though the prepared dishes were so-so; there was always a person making eggs, which were good. The Tv in the room was semi-useless for anything other than connecting your computer, if that’s something you care about. There is fitness room with a couple of treadmills and creaky bikes and room to stretch. Overall a really pleasant stay.

This hotel is immaculate! It’s a welcome oasis that encapsulates all of the beauty of Thailand. The food and drinks are amazing - especially the breakfast buffet. Everything is perfectly beautiful and clean. The pool area is especially stunning. The koi pond was the most amazing surprise along with the sweet black kitty cat who let me pet him from the pool! It’s within walking distance to the Tha Phae Gate and multiple temples. Just a quick drive or Bolt to the flower market among many others! This must be one if not the best place I’ve ever stayed. Thank you Pingviman for an incredible experience. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

We had our first visit here in 2019, only 3 years after it had been built, so it was very new and beautiful. The experience was heightened by very attentive staff. So much so we longed to go back. Six years later, we have just spent over a week here, and although it is still lovely, it feels a tad unloved compared to before. This might be due to time and age. The bicycles they had to offer guests to use for free were so lovely back in 2019, but they no longer offer these. Nor is the room service menu visible as the restaurant is now only open for breakfast The restaurant breakfast is still hearty, but much like the rest of Chiang mai, now heavily featires pork. Although this might be welcome for Chinese visitors, not so great for Muslim guests.There seems to be either a pork day or a chicken day. The chicken days are full of exciting things to try for breakfast. The range of other breakfast items is really good and there are two coffee machines, one which offers hot milk too. Our executive room with pool access was lovely, and probably the best rooms to go for are the ones away further away from the breakfast area. All in all a lovely 4 star hotel, well situated at the corner of the walled city so easy to walk to the Wua Lai walking street market open every night. The restuarant Lookbua is a gem for authentic food prepared with love, and very close by too.

The property had very nice Thai architecture but was not kept up, but it still has a lot of beauty. Sloppy paint over beautiful stained wood. Fountains/doors not working. Loose toilet seats. Unclean shampoo/soap bottles. Limited TV channels. Staff kind and helpful. I would recommend staying, but they should take care of these things.

Rooms were old and not cleaned throughly each day. Main door to each room was locked by a padlock!
Free shuttle was a very dirty small car, that looked as though it had never been cleaned.

We had to cancel our plans to Thailand due to COVID. All hotels and airlines were willing to work with us in some way or another except this hotel. They refused to help but gladly took our money. They wouldn't take any of our calls or calls from the Expedia rep that was doing his best to help us. I understand the current situation is not their fault but they way they handled the situation was not professional by any means. Severe lack of customer service.

Traditional Thai style decor with a fantastic central courtyard with a pool and ponds filled with koi and cute tiny frogs. Very helpful and friendly staff. This is a small hotel so the concierge doesn’t arrive before 9 am to arrange tours, but was helpful when there. It is a short (10 minutes or less) walk to the magnificent Wat Phra Singh. Complimentary breakfast included Asian and western dishes, yogurt, and an omelet bar. Highly recommend!

A gem in the old city

This a real gem of a place to stay in the old city section of Chiang Mai. Nice breakfast in the morning, down the street from the night market, lots to do within walking distance and a really friendly staff. The rooms are oversized, clean, have spa tubs and are bug free. Spending time in the warm and beautiful pool is a treat at the end of a long day.

Pingviman was an absolute delight to stay at. The hotel itself is beautiful with a pool and palm trees in the inner courtyard. My room had beautiful hardwood floors, a balcony, and a jacuzzi bath. On top of that, the hotel is within walking distance of the temples in Old City - I found my way there just by taking a walk in the area. The service at Pingviman was awesome, and the room service and laundry service were extremely affordable! Can't recommend this place enough.

Stayed here for 3 nights but wish it had been longer. This is a lovely boutique hotel in the old part of the city. Great location with a park just around the corner. The style & character of the building is beautiful. As soon as we arrived we felt immediately relaxed. Very spacious bedroom with balcony overlooking the pool. This area is like an oasis of calm. We only used the restaurant for breakfast which was adequate. Shuttle service to & from hotel is excellent. Would definitely stay here again if in Chiang Mai.

What a great, unique place to spend a couple of nights. Once you step inside off the busy street you're not in a cookie cutter hotel but instead a wonderful, tranquil environment. The rooms are amazing and there's a nice pool. We did a couples massage there on site. It was an incredible two hour Thai massage at a very low price. Breakfast was good, staff friendly. Make sure you take advantage of the included airport shuttle.

The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. They were happy to help with any needs. The hotel was within walking distance of some food places and bars. The rooms and ensuites were very spacious. The bed was very comfortable.
It may be down to personal choice but the location wasn't ideal for us as we in hindsight should have stayed closer to the night bazaar and street food options. Was a tuk tuk ride away to see this.
We also only scored the hotel as ok as the rooms were attractive but the sound proofing very poor - we were on the top floor and could hear noise from below, next door and the road. First night my husband really struggled to sleep with the noise. The balcony doors don't seal fully so noise travels easily. We could even hear easily the bleeps of the safe in the next door room being opened!
Our other complaint was the breakfast - it was basic and in places not good quality. With a 4star hotel i would expect table service for tea/coffee but it was self service. The juice was cheap tasting and the orange not nice. With it being orange and mango season you would expect better. Also the range of fruit was poor, some days only melon. Really i expected mango, orange, banana, pineapple, etc widely avaliable.
Personally I would not choose to stay again in this hotel. After the reviews I read at booking i expected more.

Accommodations were beautiful. Staff, less so. Very inflexible and difficult to deal with. We stayed there with 3 teenage daughters, one of which was sick and they were not accommodating or helpful.
They seem to have a set of rules and allow for no deviation from those pre-set guidelines.
We have stayed at 3 other hotels this trip and none were as indifferent or inflexible as Pingviman.
Over all rating- accommodations great, staff- not so great.

First time to Chiang Mai

This was a great place to stay for our first time in Chiang Mai, walk a couple blocks and you are at a temple! The breakfast was nice and room was as pictured. Grounds will well taken care of and staff was very nice. My only complaint is the rooms has a musty smell but I think it comes along with the humidity. Also if you just want to lay in the sun... the walls and trees make it so there isnt alot ofdurect sun by the pool.

The staff was incredibly rude and unhelpful when we had an issue with renewing for another night. They were not courteous from the moment we walked in, ignoring us instead of helping with check-in and dropping my laptop bag on the ground and not apologizing. The breakfast in the morning was mediocre, with a small selection characterized mainly by low effort and low quality. The room was okay beyond the fact that they have an old fashioned style phone as the only in-room phone and it didn’t work meaning we had to walk down to reception for every request. Was so bad that we chose to switch to a different hotel for our second night. Definitely don’t recommend.

Hotel was lovely and the staff were amazing. Only one thing let our stay down, the last night we were woke up by running water. This was someone having a shower (perfectly normal) except the drains must have been right in our air con vent as all we could hear for about an hour was running water. The hotel is made out of a lot of wood which is lovely, It would be good if guests were advised not to wear shoes whilst in the room and this makes a lot noise.

Very very noisy cleaning staff, from 03:45 hrs onward. Approached the receptionist but nothing changed. We don't expect to go on holiday and have to survive on 4 hours sleep each night. For this reason alone I would not return. If you go don't stay in room 1302.

Had no idea this good.

Amazing hotel. Couldn’t have been better. Location is great! It sounds fake but we really loved this place. I mean really loved it. Poll , rooms, staff, breakfast, all great! Rates too. Go to this place!

Beautiful, uniquely styled hotel. Large exec rm.

From the street entrance to the intricate wooden carvings in each room, this hotel is beautifully Thai. Rooms surround a shared pool, but retain a very calming aura, as well as providing covered balconies. Bathroom in Executive room was huge! Easy to access tuk tuks or walk to several restaurant options within old city. Breakfast was good mix of western & Asian offerings.
