It was horrible my key was never activated I came back to the hotel after midnight I was able to get inside the building but not into my room. My phone was dead. And I went all the floors seeking for help. And for 3 hours I was not able to go inside my room. Me and my mom that is 79 years old were really scared. It was a horrible experience

⭐ Very Disappointing Stay – Would Not Recommend

My stay at Star Vatican Rooms was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The attitude of the hotel staff was unprofessional and unwelcoming. Instead of being helpful, they were rude, dismissive, and seemed irritated by basic questions. Customer service was clearly not a priority here.

The room itself was outdated and poorly maintained. The TV service was practically useless—old, limited channels, and barely functional, which is unacceptable in this day and age. Overall, the room did not feel comfortable or well cared for.

The checkout process was another frustration. The checkout time felt unnecessarily strict, and there was no flexibility or courtesy offered whatsoever. Rather than a smooth departure, it felt rushed and unpleasant, adding to an already negative experience.

Despite the convenient location near the Vatican, the unfriendly staff, outdated amenities, and lack of hospitality completely overshadow any positives. I would not stay here again and would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable or welcoming stay.

The staff was also saying very unkind things in Italian..

Location - great for people Visiting the Vatican & accessible to Metro and buses, restaurants are all
Close by as well. We felt safe walking around the area.
Room - a bit run down, looked at under bed (thought we dropped something) & saw dust accumulation & seemed never vacuumed under the bed. I like that they do tidy the room everyday & bed is kept clean after a long day. They just need to scrub a the bathroom more to prevent mildew accumulation on tiles.
Breakfast - had to walk (about 6-8 mins.) to a nearby cafe/bar. They have American or Italian breakfast options, went for American bf and loved the freshly squeezed orange juice they serve there.
Communications- theougj WhatsApp and provided details about property and access.

The hotel is well located; however, a few details leave much to be desired. For instance, the bathroom sink is not cleaned daily, and guests may have to request basic items such as toilet paper. Housekeeping staff sometimes fail to replace empty rolls, even when new ones are provided. On the last day of the stay, there was no shower soap available. Used coffee cups were not replaced with clean ones, and there were no refills of sugar, coffee, or tea. In some cases, the bath mat was not changed, suggesting that the bathroom floor might not have been cleaned regularly. Overall, the housekeeping team appears to lack proper training and attention to detail.

Overall hotel was good, location easy to get around Vatican City.
When we dropped off luggage’s before checking time, coming from the port took us about 3.50 hours to get to Rome, wanted to use toilets and he said NO, instead he sent us to use toilets at the Metro station he didn’t care
for 2 women in an unknown big city plus we had to paid, get change to use the toilets 👎

We use other ratings and reviews to book so when we saw this property we decided to book. Quite disappointing. The location was good and central. We had two separate rooms
Bathrooms were dirty and covered in mould. The shower head had barbs of growth on it the other was broken and water sprayed out everywhere. They did fix this after we complained but not the mould. The rooms are not sound proofed and if you’re unlucky to get the room near the main entrance every time someone enters the block the metal door slams. We had to go and buy ear plugs to help. The shower in one of the rooms was so small even though I’m a UK Size 12-14 I had to enter shower sideways. Beds were made but no clean cups and no spoons for the full 5 days we stayed. Breakfast is not on site as described but in a local cafe which is fine as long as they are open if not tough luck. Rome was amazing but would not book this accommodation again.

Neighborhood is nice with many locals. We were at Via Germanico rooms, small but modern furnishing. Bathroom initially smelled really bad like sewer when we walked in. AC would have some problems staying on. Not much space to lounge besides the bed inside the room if you wanted a break. No hooks to hold towels and hand towels in the bathroom. Bathroom shower caddy had black discoloration looked like mold. Bed was super soft but in an uncomfortable way.

We booked this property because it was supposed to be very close to the Vatican museum, for that it was about nine minute walk, which is great but nowhere to get a hold of the people in charge on a limited time frame. Very poor direction and check in was a joke. This place has 3 buildings with the same address and hard to find the correct one you are staying in. I had to help a young girl that had arrived there with the same address but a different b and b name on her contract . No costumer service at all
Ran out of toilet paper and they were telling me to basically go find it in one of the rooms outdoor.
Picture looks way better than reality.

Check-in was at a different location than our room, about a 5 minute walk. Received a message that fee needed to be paid in Euro, but told credit card was preferred when I was checking in. Needed two different keys when entering building where room was located and only given one set for our group of 4, making it difficult when we split up. Site says free breakfast is included, but there was no mention of free breakfast when we checked in. Checkout is supposed to be in person to drop off keys at same place as checkin, but no one was around at checkout, so had to leave key with cleaning staff member.

Unfortunately, the communication with the reception was poor. Also, it is not suitable for disabled people. There’s hardly anyone at the reception to help as there are many stairs inside the building.

Great location, a couple blocks from St. Peter's square and Vatican. Very close to Metro station, bus stops , dining, shopping. Room was clean and quiet.
Only negative thing was that it is not possible to check in before 2pm and the site listed to store luggage is at the hotel that manages the rooms and it is a cab ride away. These are rooms in an apartment building on a lovely street/neighborhood.
Once you are in room with door codes and key to front door it is great. Checkout is easy, just leave front door key in room and then you can leave anytime. Towel/cleaning every day if you wish.The 2pm time listed to check-in is correct with no wiggle room. You supposedly can arrange for early check-in, but do so days before you arrive. There is no one onsite except 2-8pm except cleaning from 12-2pm. My advice is to alert the property a few days before if you need early check-in. I only emailed the day before and it was not soon enough. We finally got in room an hour early but only because the cleaner was there and helped us call and translate. Next time I will alert them days before if I need early check-in so can have codes before I arrive. Would definitely recommend it, just believe the times they list for check-in. There is not any wiggle room for showing up early. Also, begin a dialogue through Whatsapp with Star Vatican before you arrive, it will save you frustration when you arrive. Except for check in frustration, it was wonderful experience.

La llegada es complicada puesto que son apartamentos con sistema de clave , a pesar de que llame 2 veces a preguntar si había alguien en reception o lobby porque llegaba tarde en la noche y me dijeron que si había las 24 horas y en lo que llegamos al sitio contratando un taxi me cambiaron a otro edificio que tuvimos que caminar 2 cuadras por el cambio de último momento !!!! NO HAY LOBBY , todo es por WhatsApp . La habitación quedaba a nivel de estacionamiento por lo que en las mañana un ruido infernal de los carros y motos !!!! Y hay zancudos …..

We loved this room and the location, but checkin was an issue. I found the address, but could not figure out how to get in the building. Someone finally came out of the door and iv was able to go in. The reception lady was super nice, but the room was down the block and around the corner. There is no reception area if you need something or have s question. Other than that, this was a great place. The room was spavious with plenty of room. It felt very safe. We had a key to open a door onto the street, another key to get into the building, then a code to get into a hallway, and one more code to get in the room. Very close to the metro, restaurants, lots if little shops. We walked to the vatican museum.

One of the worst properties I have ever stayed. I stayed for 2 nights but should have stayed none. At the beginnig they send you a text message by whatsapp asking for passports and the time of my arrival. I arrived at 6 pm like I mentioned. There was no one, I had to stay out in the cold with my gurlfriend with all our luggage until someone gave ys access to the property. They don’t tell you how ti access the property. Once inside I called and texted the number they gave for service. According to them is 24h, 39 3791049866. I called the guy, he is not italian. I couldn’t understand his accent , he was super rude. He hanged the phone 4 times. I have american phone number, calls like that in another country and international are expensive. This guy was saying he would open the door and never did! He kept hanging the phone until i told him not to hang up on me again, he talked for like 15 seconds and hanged up. The thing didn’t end up there, these guys decided to change the code for my room the second night without telling me! I arrived ans had to wait around 2 hours until the guy gave me the correct code, the same guy and of course he was jot answering and hanging up on me when i was talking. These is one of the worst experience that i ever had, the second night was -5 celsius and my girlfriend had to stay out in the cole because this guy was telling me the wrong code. He called me later to tell me the correct code because he was saying it was a 9 but it was a 6. TERRIBLE

It is hard to tell what you’ll get in Rome since hotels operate in residential buildings. We only stayed one night so it was fine but I would not return. Location is close to Vatican and other areas and convenient to bus and Metro.

Cheap and easy to get to Vatican City. You can not leave your bags here after or before your stay. There is another place you can but it’s another 20 minute walk. There is no front desk so you can’t come down anytime and ask for assistance. They did give us an emergency number if you needed anything. Says free WiFi but didn’t work for me. The signal was nonexistent. Clean place and easily walking.

Overall my experience with Star Vatican Rooms has been very pleasant; the location is excellent because it is blocks from the Vatican City and very close to most of the attractions to visit. Also, around the hotel there are some restaurants of different prices and types of food. There was always hot water; every day the cleaning service came, changed the towels and made the beds.
What I think should be improved is the quality of the sofa bed in the junior room. We were 4 adults, two of us had no problems because the double bed was very good but the other two people were not very comfortable on the sofa bed, the mattress was not good.
If I return to Rome, I will definitely go back to Star Vatican Rooms, but I will make sure that there are four beds for adults.
I recommend this apart hotel, to stay and to visit Rome.

We had 4 of us (2 adults plus 10 yr old and 12 yr old) and this was a great two room option at a really good value. The main bedroom had a door separating the living area with pull out bed. The ac was a mini split so had to consider that when blocking off the rooms. Nice bathroom. They already had the bed out and sheets on it which was great. It was very convenient to the Vatican and Castle Santa Angelo. It was on a street (not a main street) so will get some city noise. Several restaurants were within easy walk. Things to watch out for. The room we had was at a different address (though close to the original one). Mattered just because I had to update the transport services from the airport etc. Also note that since it is a satellite location you need to be able to check in during the stated window and you can't store your luggage. Overall though, I would definitely stay there again given the value/ location.

Toilet leaking water, I notified the management but nothing was done about it. Towels were very wet old and worn out, light in the hall way was flickering. Overall property not well maintained.
