Roberto checked us in and very kindly gave us a bigger room with a second bed. He was very helpful and came and got us as we went to the wrong location. The room was spotless and made such good use of the space. We had a lovely big window that opened right in so we could sit and have our coffee. The bed was super comfy and we had a great shower with great pressure.

I guess we just expected more of a conventional hotel situation with the reception desk, etc. but once I figured out the neighborhood, it was great coffee shop right down the street, Vatican City right there. I really enjoyed the stay.

We had a good stay at Les Chambres d'or. Roberto who checked us in was very hospitable and responded promptly to our requests. Although the coffee machine did not work and the air conditioning was a disappointment, the location of this place is amazing.
It is just minutes away from all the main places of interests including the Vatican City. Would recommend!

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel in Rome! The location couldn’t be better — just about 0.5 km from Vatican City and roughly 1 km from both the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. It’s perfect for exploring the city on foot.

Even though the hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant, there are plenty of great places to eat and shop just steps away. Public transportation is also very convenient, with several bus stops and taxi stands nearby.

The staff were exceptionally attentive and always ready to help with anything I needed. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and well-maintained — a great place to relax after a long day of sightseeing.

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome who wants comfort, convenience, and excellent service!

Like many I wonder about negative reviews for this place: I can only suspect it’s a conspiracy to stop people discovering it and booking out the rooms!
The rooms are beautifully appointing and spotlessly clean. Great storage area with safe, hairdryer, spare duvet, fridge and a big bottle of chilled water.
The en-suite is stylish with a good sized shower with a rainfall head.
5 minutes wall from bus/taxi rank, 10 from St. Peter’s, 20 from Castle Sant Angelo and bridges.
Staff are polite and helpful and if not there easy to contact.
Oh, and value, amazing.

They canceled me out at 4:05 pm and said I was considered a no-show when check in 3-9 pm. I was in touch with them about the first day not showing up because of problems with my airline. I agreed the first day was nonrefundable. But I was in constant communication about the second day arriving approximately 3 pm. She texted me around 3:15 and told me I was considered a no-show. I called and said I was on my way and i was told there was no availability. Within 1 hour of communication I went from on my way to canneled. I told her that check in was from 3-9 on website and that it only 4:05 pm, she didn't care and not to come. That left mus stranded in a country I never been in causing a lot of stress. I had to find another room in another hotel for the same night i had already paid for. I was being taken advantage of the fact that i didn't come from Italy and knew I couldn't do anything about the situation but to gat another room elsewhere. When i checkednwith two other hotel managers told me that a reputable placenwould not have done that and should have honored the check in times, which meant that i should have been able to check in for several 5 more hours before being considered a no show. This placed double dipped by taking my money and giving the room way 1 hour after check in knowing I was at the airport and on my way 15 minutes after check in started. This placed should banned from expedia. I have been using expedia for many years and have never been treated this way.

The hotel is a \"Boutique\" style, which means staff are rarely available, which is a shame. All travellers like to feel welcomed and looked after, especially in the evenings and mornings. Roberto would \"text\", but I did see him a couple of times.
The area is by the Vatican, so not central for most major attractions. My room was comfortable, fridge and coffee maker and a TV. The en-suite bathroom was clean, modern and plenty of hot water and change of towels. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The room was on a quiet side of the building, which was great.
The hotel is situated at one end of a very long road, which was difficult to find after a long journey, with no signage except on the intercom. You're given an electronic key which gives you entry to the building and your room. Inside the card activated all electricity. However when you take it with you for the day, the electricity cuts off, not helpful if you have food in the fridge.
Lots of restaurants, shops close by, which is useful as this is self catering. If a first time visitor, maybe stay more centrally, with more facilities. Very good for a short stay or working visit.

We arranged check in after 9pm and were told to call to be let in once we arrived. Once we arrived and tried to call, the person hung up on us. We tried calling back several times and no answer. We were stranded on the streets of Italy at 1am with no where to stay. We finally got into the place at 7am. We had to change rooms later that day and the room was filthy. Bed sheets were stained and very minimal housekeeping was done. Would not recommend.

The apartment was in a great location, close to Metro and Vatican. In a quite area with local shops and restaurants close by.
It was kept very clean, with it being serviced every day. Had a fridge which had a bottle of water in, kettle and coffee machine. Modern en-suite with soap and shampoo supplied.
Very comfortable bed. Air conditioning.

Due to our plane being delayed by nearly two hours, we missed check in which was only between 3pm & 9pm. We were charged €50 for late arrival!
There was a lot of confusion with check in, having to contact the host via WhatsApp rather than through Expedia app as we were not getting reply’s via the app. Check in was only to receive an email with the entry code to the main building and apartment. It made it a very stressful journey across Rome sorting it all out.

Unprofessional and Rude

My friend and I were cooking dinner when the power went out. We called the manager, who was immediately rude despite our polite tone. She said we had no right to use the stove, even though another staff member had told us it was fine. We asked for help, and I mentioned we’d leave a bad review if ignored. Minutes later, she arrived with a man who quickly fixed the issue.

What followed was shocking. The manager accused us of being rude in texts — fair enough. But the man began berating us, bringing up unrelated topics. When he found out we were Canadian, he said our tone was “Trumpism” and that he hoped to “invade our country” and have us working at Tim Hortons forever. This was completely inappropriate and had nothing to do with the situation.

We’re two young women, and while we could’ve been more polite, his response was bullying and misogynistic. After this, the manager changed her tone, asking us to write a good review and promising to help us anytime — the opposite of her earlier attitude. I wouldn’t stay here again. The staff were unprofessional and the way we were treated was unacceptable.

I booked a room at Les Chambres D'or in Rome from 19 July to 22 July. I was never informed that I needed to confirm my arrival time, and I assumed, as with most hotels, that reception would be available 24 hours a day. Travel plans are often unpredictable, and I expected the hotel to accommodate late arrivals.

On 19 July, while traveling by train, I had poor internet connection and could not contact the hotel. I arrived at the property at approximately 23:30, only to find the hotel closed. When I rang the bell, I was told to wait outside on the street at midnight. I was alone and felt unsafe. I waited for about 30 minutes until I sought help from nearby police officers, who called the hotel manager (or possibly the owner).

When she arrived, she informed me that check-in closed at 21:00. If this rule exists, why was I not notified in advance? She also demanded that I pay an extra €50 because I arrived late. I have never encountered such a policy, and typically, hotels offer compromises or assistance in such situations, not additional fees—especially when the stay has already been prepaid.

The manager was also rude and requested documents I had never been asked to provide before. I did not feel safe or comfortable staying at this hotel and had to find another hotel in Rome around 1:00 a.m., which cost me all of my remaining funds.

If such strict rules exist, they should have been clearly indicated on the website and communicated to me directly via email or messaging apps

Accommodation was convenient - close to Train station/ quiet place/ basic facilities available such as a kettle, mini-fridge, good AC, laundry if you require it, nice staff who interacted with us at the property and changed towels and made beds. several restaurants, shopping area nearby, convenience to walk to several spots. I liked the little supermarket for groceries and water, etc... Grom gelato and crepes were awesome! One negative: Particularly had to enter an unpleasant telephone interaction with \"manager\" who wrongly insisted on charging my card for city taxes (way above what was on my invoice from Expedia) despite my explanations. This was not fun at all. I received the refund after all and Expedia was helpful to resolve it. However not a pleasant experience. Refer to set table for city taxes for Rome for this property and work out the details and the currency equivalent ahead of your trip as I did to avoid any unpleasant surprises. Watch your invoices and insist on a receipt (I was not given one by the hotel despite requesting and demanding one), some properties are not registered with the city and therefore... you can decide. Please ensure everyone understands the currency. It could be significant when you have a number of people in the party and staying for at least 10 days. Other than that, I want to remember the positives which was at least 90%. The staff at the accommodation were really nice, kind, friendly and helpful and I thank them for it.

The property did not have the rooms i booked,the manager as listed in other reviews was very much combative about the reservations being wrong like i did something wrong when clearly by the reservation confirmation it was clear, they were not able to provide the rooms on the same floor as i was traveling with my daughter,which made the security for my family a concern. The attendant at check in was helpful but could only do so much.

The rooms were were not in good condition, access was difficult, the beds were comfortable but thats about all can say was positive.

I would not stay there again and would advise others to book different accommodation.

The location was an approx 8 min walk to St Peter’s square and was in the heart of very good restaurants, and a grocery store 2 min away. The hotel was quiet and we were given the codes to all doors in order to come and go as we pleased. Hotel provided daily servicing. The hotel manager gave her personal contact info to us and told us we could call anytime with any concern. I appreciated her hospitality and recommend this hotel. We will stay there again if we come back to Rome.
