Blinds broke when I closed curtains. Curtains do not provide privacy from parking lot. Bedside lamp switch did not work. Toilet dripped constantly. Heater/AC sounds like 747 revving up. Bed comfortable enough. Free hot drinks and cookies. Adequate for single night stay, but overpriced for what you get. More like Hotel 8 in style. Outdated facility on its last legs. Staff friendly enough, but no one was around at checkout.

Overall, my experience at the hotel was satisfactory. The room was tidy, the amenities met expectations, and staff were courteous. The only issue I encountered was a leaking pipe under the sink, which caused a puddle of water collecting on the bathroom floor. I had to step over it when entering the bathroom. I recommend maintenance check this to prevent further inconvenience. Otherwise, the stay was comfortable.

this motel is in the quaint town of Shakespeare which is a short distance from Stratford which was our true destination for theatre going.
It had ample parking and a clean room. We had no need to interact with any staff except for checking in.
Room had heat and air which we never needed to use.
Free morning coffee was available.

If you want to stay somewhere that is very, very, very basic while visiting Stratford, then this will meet your requirements. There is no sense of comfort and fortunately we were only there for one night. The front desk experience was poor, we were not even informed of a wifi code so we expected it to be in the room, but it wasn't. Breakfast is from 7am to 9am closing far too early if you are looking for a restful break. No shower gel or body wash in the bathroom, just super thin soap and a couple of shampoo & conditioner sachets. Both the bed and pillows were uncomfortable and part way through the night my head was hurting. This was our first and last visit to the Shakespeare Inn.

I had such a terrible allergic reaction to the room I had to leave after half an hour. I did not buy cancellation insurance, so I learned my lesson and will never book a hotel this way again. I am allergic to cats, dust and mold. There were all three allergens in this hotel. The bedding hasn't been updated since the 1960's. Although the carpet had been removed and replaced with laminate, there is still carpet as baseboards that has been there since the 1950's. It was worse than the Bates motel. Bad energy. Old food was left in the fridge in our room. Awful, horrible, terrible worst ever hitel experience.

Staff was friendly and accommodating for a main floor room. Room was clean and tidy. Bathroom was well stocked, many of the other things could be updated. Bathroom light flickered and fan was loud. Microwave didn’t really work and bedding was older and mattresses as well. Tv worked fine and we had a restful sleep, with a coffee /tea and cookies included and available down the hall which was nice was nice

Rooms are pretty basic but clean and has a fridge with a tiny freezer. It was very quiet! They offer coffee and cookies in the cafe from 7-9 am. Friendly staff that double check that the room is clean before you go in. Very reasonable and only 10 min from Stratford

This is a really inexpensive hotel. Wouldn't stay there again. Easy to get to on a main drag. Easy access to Stratford very few dining options close.

If you want fancy and like to be pampered this is not the place for you.
A great basic hotel that I would stay in again!

This hotel/motel is run down, and has definitely seen better days. The owner or manager (I'm not sure which) was very polite, but the moment you walk into the lobby it has a very strong smell. Nothing has been updated in a long time, so things are getting quite shabby. Upon arriving at our room, the door was open and the tv was on. We weren't sure if someone else had the room, but were told it was ours. Some things were clean, but others were obviously not (carpet not vacuumed, hairs on bathroom floor, mould in the grout around the bathtub, etc). I went to the front desk to ask something around 11:00pm but it was all locked up for the night and no one was there. The photos show a \"restaurant\", but there is no restaurant at this hotel. We stayed here after going to a play in Stratford. Another time I would just drive further to find a better place to stay, probably for the same price.

We had a wonderful stay. It was an easy 10 min drive to the theatre we went to in Stratford. The room was very clean, well maintained, and the AC worked perfectly. We also appreciated the coffee in the morning. What really stood out was the hospitality... The management went above and beyond by surprising us with balloons and a thoughtful setup in the room for my mom’s 70th birthday. It really made our trip special.

We liked the Shakespeare Inn but …

We booked a Queen sized bed, but we were given a room with a double bed. We did not complain.
We did not understand how to work the TV, but the lady came at my request and got it to the channel that we wanted.
The day was very hot and the room needed A/C which it had but I was surprised that I had to set it up, as opposed to it being already set up for us.
There was a frig which we did not use. There was no microwave but we did not want it anyway.
There were only 2 pillows on the bed. I should have asked for more pillows as we like to have one between our legs when we sleep. It was late by the time I noticed so did not want to disturb the family running the Inn.
The password for the internet was there and worked.
They have a room with tea/coffee and Dad’s cookies that everyone can access. Would I stay there again? Yes, but I would not accept the double bed, and would ask for more pillows.

Very tiny room. Noisy wall mounted heater that came on and off frequently. Had to turn it off to get some sleep and put up with a cold room. No in room coffee maker or microwave. Small tv. Some self service instant coffee and cookies available in morning in another room. Appears to be no one there and no access to the rest of the inn much of the time. Won't be back. Better options in Stratfor for similar price.

The room was very small also the bathroom was so small the door opened up at was against the bathtub. There was only 2 small towels for showering. Also the tv only got 1 station no wi-fi or satelite. The bed was only a double when I paid for the extra queen size. I will not being staying at this motel again not very pleased for the price. Also the hall was very cold and that cold came under the door which had a gap and made the floors very cold in the room.

Our room was very bare-bones, but it was extremely clean. I was quite comfortable. My husband thought the pillows were too hard. Next time we bring our own pillows. Plenty of hot water and the heat worked fine. We would stay here again. Easy on the budget.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, very quiet and the staff very friendly. There was a very, very high smell at reception from burning incense, very nauseating. There was no smell beyond reception. The Lock was not working well to initial room, could not open the door to the room with the key, a different room was offered right away. The door, around the side entering the building to the rooms was also not working properly. The inside of the lock came out with the key, we had safety concerns, not sure if the lock could be picked easily, or even if the door was secure. Space between the toilet and the sink very limited, the washroom door touches the toilet when opened, if you are a big person it will be tight. Not enough space between the shelf above the sink and the sink, if you are a bigger/taller person. Could have a clock in the room. The motel grounds was clean and maintained well, quiet area, 15 minutes from downtown Stratford.

The room was quaint and nice. Has a nice 70's-80's feel to it. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming.
The shower curtains are old and probably need to be changed. There was a dead bug squished against the wall. The fan in the bathroom was very loud. But over all still a nice place.

Water not up and running for shower and toilet. Seems controlled by timer: water runs for 3 minutes, then stops for half a minute. Cafeteria, or common room for tea and coffee, microwave, ice, hot water - is closed. Says open 7-9 am - not true. Just a small room is provided for such things. Hot water machine not working. Outside is nice, at gazebo, lawn.
