After an incredibly disappointing experience at another property, finding Jamaica Palace felt like discovering a hidden gem. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine hospitality, and the difference was immediately apparent.

The property is absolutely beautiful—peaceful, impeccably maintained, and surrounded by breathtaking views. The grounds are lush and meticulously cared for, creating a relaxing atmosphere that made it easy to unwind despite the stressful start to our trip. Every area of the property reflected pride of ownership and attention to detail.

Our accommodations were clean, comfortable, and exactly what we expected. Everything was well maintained, and the overall experience restored our confidence after what had been a very difficult situation.

Beyond the beauty of the property, the staff made us feel valued and cared for. Their kindness and professionalism turned what could have been a ruined trip into a memorable one.

Jamaica Palace truly was the saving grace of our vacation. If you're looking for a peaceful, picturesque property with outstanding hospitality and stunning views, I cannot recommend it highly enough. We are incredibly grateful to have found it and would not hesitate to stay there again.

The property is very outdated. The pool area was nice but no bar was open, no service. Never took a hot shower. Luke warm water with old plumbing. Spacious rooms was the only plus. Front desk staff was not attentive to guests. It is what it is. No one went above and beyond.

It's an ideal location in Portland to access the beaches and other historical sites.

Employees were extremely helpful courteous; notably the dinning room servers may need additional training to help strengthen the skills

The property is beautiful but needs updating. Most importantly, the beds need updating. The bed felt like we were laying on wood. It is so hard and painful to lay on. There was an empty room across the hall with a much softer and more comfortable bed, but the manager would not allow us to switch to that room without paying an additional $120 a night. The hotel has 80 rooms and less than a dozen were occupied. We ended up getting extra pillows to sleep on, but it was uncomfortable. Had the manager been a little more accommodating, we likely would return to the hotel. The breakfast was delicious and the restaurant staff were friendly. However the hotel is empty and has no entertainment or anything to do if it is raining.

We stayed at Jamaica Palace and overall the experience was very disappointing despite a few positives.

Check-in was okay, but things went downhill later that night when there was a nationwide power outage. The hotel generator did not kick in automatically, and when it eventually did, our room’s AC still didn’t work. We later discovered that other guests had AC, which made the situation even more frustrating.

When we raised the issue at the front desk, we were told the ACs do not work on generator power. Because the room was extremely hot and uncomfortable, we had to request a room change just to be able to sleep.

Another inconvenience was the lack of basic amenities in the rooms, such as a hair dryer. We were told we had to request one from the front desk, only to be informed they were short on dryers but they gave us one to borrow.

Breakfast was inconsistent. Day one was good, but day two was disappointing the French toast and eggs were not enjoyable.

After electricity was restored, we were even asked if we wanted to move back to our original room, despite it raining heavily at the time. The expectation that guests would move in those conditions was very poor service and showed a lack of consideration.

During breakfast, staff repeatedly asked for room numbers, which felt unnecessary and interrupted the dining experience.

Overall, the property has potential, but the service standards and guest care need significant improvement.

Breakfast is on point and with a wide choice. Room was clean and smells clean too… Great location to pop into town or to Boston beach…

Ensure what is advertised is accurate on this site.

Omlettes were good. Would have liked more local fruits that were available in the area. Male server was exceptional...name starts with D, may be Damanique?

The staff was excellent, breakfast was filling, property clean. Check-in was arduous, but the front desk staff was pleasant and made every effort to alleviate the situation. Note that there is a two hundred dollars refundable incidental charge that can either be paid in cash or held against a credit card, it cannot be held against a debit card as I learned the hard way. Expedia does not explicit provide that information. Overall it was a good stay. Quiet property, beautiful view from the balconies, lovely pool deck with a Jamaica-shaped pool. Close to the town and many eating areas.

Great hotel in a stunning property with really friendly staff at reception. Had an issue with bathroom shower which sprayed onto the wall and then the floor - apparently a result of bath/shower design so the staff couldn't help.
Otherwise had a great stay with good food, although the restaurant was pricey. Would stay again though.

I checked out the hotel a day early and they refused to refund my money they told me I booked through Expedia so I have to reach out to Expedia and Expedia is now telling me the hotel doesn’t want to refund my money for the night I did not overall the hotel is in a good location close to all the other beaches and rivers but the rooms need updating and bug control they have roaches that’s why i checked out early

Room service was super slow, breakfast delivered to room in takeout box instead of crockery and silverware. Couldn’t get coffee until 8:15am as coffee not ready. Room service wasn’t available for breakfast as short staff (apparently only 2 staff working). Lunch in restaurant took over hour and a half to 2 hours when only person in restaurant dining. No normal chair in room to work from laptop and none available in hotel. Front desk very rarely answered phone, to keep calling. Hotel could do with providing kettle in room so guests can make coffee themselves. Hotel should be DOWNGRADED TO 3 or 4 star. Very disappointed, would not recommend!!

Everything’s exceeded our expectations. The rooms were very spacious and the bathrooms were upgraded. The bed and linen comfortable and soft and the staff were amazing.

That Jamaican breakfast was awesome and the servings ample.

Everybody should try those chili wings on the lunch menu - simply dynamite.

Yes the room was very clean the staff was amazing and it show that the owner is on top of is biz it was a hurricane and they where prepared we had light hot water they told us the ac will not work so they gave us fan which did a great job it my go to spot whenever am in Portland love the pool the property clean lots of beautiful fords beautiful sea views amazing staff thank you to all the staff we appreciate you awesome service and I have to also big up the chef’s because the food was really good

My stay at Jamaica Palace Hotel was absolutely wonderful from start to finish! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service. The check-in process was quick and easy, and the staff made sure I felt welcomed and informed about everything the hotel had to offer.

The room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and incredibly comfortable — the bed felt like sleeping on a cloud! I especially appreciated the little touches, like complimentary bottled water, plush towels, and the amazing view from my window.

The amenities were top-notch: the pool area was clean and relaxing, the on-site restaurant served delicious food with great variety, and the breakfast buffet was generous and fresh each morning. I also loved the convenient location — close to shops, restaurants, and local attractions.

But what really made my stay unforgettable was the staff. Everyone I encountered was friendly, attentive, and truly went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed.

I would highly recommend Jamaica Palace to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway. I can’t wait to return!

Beautiful property, the gardens surrounding the property are immaculate. This is a classic old hotel with art work in abundance everywhere, classic period furnishings are priceless. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was sumptuous. We had dinner there twice and the food was delicious. You should visit to see the art of the great Ken Abondano Spencer in a part of Jamaica brimming with natural beauty.

After booking online and arriving at the hotel we were told we had to pay a holding fee of USD 200. In this day and age we thought this to be very inconvenient and archaic. Of course when we tried paying this holding fee, the machine would not work for some of us and for others it ended up charging the card twice. Checking in took forever and a few of my friends had to change room because of sparkes flying from the light in the room.

Breakfast was ok and the staff we encountered in the morning seemed more knowledgeable about the operations. The beds were comfortable.

The Jamaica Palace Hotel is beautiful and the staff we welcoming and friendly. The rooms were adequately sized. The landscape and pool are gorgeous. It was a challenge to do early check in but the staff were able to accommodate us. The cons are there’s not any dining options nearby. It requires a drive 20 mins out to find food. The hotel doesn’t provide snacks or a little cafe for quick meals.

I booked two identical rooms and my friends room was noticeably smaller and not the same design on the wall so that was a bit meh but the stay was still great. Beautiful property, very nice pool. Complimentary breakfast that came with my stay was excellent. The room key was missing and the front desk person was nonchalant but again I only stayed one night so I didnt press the issue. When in Portland I would definitely stay there again.

This was my first time in Portland Parish, ao I wanted to stay close enough to town, so I could access the markets, restaurants, and other ammenities whenever needed. I read a lot of positive reviews about Jamaica Palace, so I decided to stay there. It was a lot more than I imagined. The old, colonial styled buildings were very well kept and elegantly adorned with paintings and sketches. The restaurant was very big, and it was set up in a sophisticated manner. The grounds and surrounding vegetation were well manicured. The staff was quite friendly, which was no surprise. The food was excellent, and the entire area was very peaceful.

We stayed at The Jamaica Palace Hotel during our road trip to Portland. The service from Ronnie & Simone was professional, friendly and welcoming. The room was as described in the hotel profile and couldn’t ask for any more. We had a look around the property and it has amazing views of the Caribbean Sea. The gardens and swimming pool are well maintained and beautiful too. I would like to say a special THANKS to Elizabeth for promise of mangoes on our stay. I hope to visit again on my next trip to Jamaica. Thank you

What I like most about this property is the staff, they are amazing. The friendly greeting at the gate by security to the warm welcome at the front desk (especially Tisha) and the gleaming smiles from the breakfast staff to start your day. Ms Elizabeth is always with a pleasant smile whenever you ran into during a walk. The property is very clean and housekeeping team always seems eager to keep such cleanliness intact at all times. However, the property is very dated, the rooms and bathroom would be so much brighter and lighter with an upgrade. Overall this place is one I would recommend if you need a quiet place to stay outside of town but not too far away. WiFi service was very good I got plenty of work done including zoom meetings.
