The hotel is clean. The staff were friendly & professional. There isn’t always hot water. And they host a lot of events in the evening and on the weekends. So loud music is played. If you are looking for 100% Peace & quiet, it perhaps not the place for you.

The room was clean and the staff very nice and friendly. The hotel is basic and charmless. The AC dripped and there was no safe. We didn't bring beach towels. They charged us a rental fee of $10/day plus a refundable per towel deposit of $15. The towels were just the regular bath towels. This seemed like an overreach for what is usually a standard amenity; almost a scam on foreigners.

The only thing I liked about this property was the quality of the breakfast and the customer service protrayed by a waiter by the name of Rohan.
The dislikes about the stay were the constant lack of water at the hotel, and to add insult to injury, there was a constant lack of hot water at the facility. There was also a mix up of the rooms assigned which caused confusion throughout the stay. The bathroom amenties need to be powerwashed or scrubbed since there is mildew or strain in the shower area.

As a woman travelling alone, I found Tim Bamboo hotel to be safe. Jamaican locals and tourists were present at the hotel. Facilities were average but clean with friends staff.

The staff seemed untrained and crass. The hotel steps itself was dirty for the 2 nights that were there even though there was some there who was supposed to be cleaning. We observed objects on the steps both nights and of course throughout the day. Not to mention the water issues that were just unacceptable and the lack of reliable internet. I’m never staying there again.

Really a Bad Experience

This was the worst hotel experience that I have had. There was no TV service nor available wifi. When I spoke to the attendant at the front desk, she admitted there is no TV service available. This should have been told to guests the moment they checked in so there were no surprises. The bathroom was smelly. Woke up in the middle of the night to use it and there were roaches running around. The shower was horrible. I could not get a stable water temperature. It was either too hot, too cold, or suddenly either. I am just hoping that these comments will help management do a better job with maintaining this property. The only positive for me was that it was within walking distance to the town square.

The staff was great! Breakfast was included with our stay and you can ordered just about anything you want. No long wait for the food and everything was delicious. The hotel is close by local restaurants and the drive to Boston Beach is quick. We stayed two nights and no complaints.

The property is in a close proximity to downtown, the property itself is old and needs some TLC. The water pressure is low and the WIFI does not work in the rooms. It’s 2024, people work remotely, access to WIFI should be an important access. I came to a function but had to do a bit of work. I had to walk around to find a spot to get access to log into work. Totally inconvenient. I remember looking for signal back in the 90’s when I visited Jamaica. It’s 2024, what does it take to have a better internet service.

The breakfast was good, especially the weekend and Easter holiday buffet special. The breakfast crew were all great, especially Ruel, professional, courteous and attentive. He should be the supervisor of the dining area. He is so humble.

The property needs a better system for entry after the front desk closes. We thought we were locked out as we had to knock for someone to let us in. How about a keyless entry, it’s 2024, access is everything, you have to spend money to make money. Thank you.

There was a lizard when I first entered the room but I was like that’s ok because it’s Jamaica but what I wasn’t expecting was a roach in the shower with me. The caps on the water valve to indicate hot from cold was missing. The staff was truly friendly and I have used this property a few times before so to say if you stay there it’s just for a nights rest nothing to stay on property an enjoy.

The staff was amazing. Kenneth started off my check in and from there everything started to go smoothly, Miss Brown and Kedesha was very nice, Mr Williams the food was great, especially on Sunday, and last but not least Milton!!! Thank you so much for making my weekend way better than it started. The location is right, the park, the sea, the town everything is close, just minutes away. The hotel is very clean as well.

My room was a very basic room. A bed and a desk with a chair. I was expecting more...at least a microwave or a tea kettle. There was a TV that offered internet channels, but the internet went down quite a bit and even when it was working, there were more channels than not that kept shutting down. There also no swimming pool which was a big dissapointment.
All that being said, the room and hotel were extremely clean and the room did have air conditioning.
The best part of my stay was my interaction with the staff. Every single peron who worked there was kind, courteous and always willing to help. Derrick, Ruel, Toniel, the cleaning staff....just to name a few, were wonderful. The food was also very good.
Overall, I would definitely stay there again. I now know what to expecr from the room and Im hoping the swimming pool will be ready soon. The fact that the staff treated me so kindly is the reason i would stay there again. They made me feel at home and that is truly something extraordinary that you cant get everywhere.
Thank you to the Tim Bambio family for your kindness and generousity. You are a big part of Jamaica that I miss.

I liked that we were able to cook our own food. The location is convenient. I didn't like that the shower was constantly dripping. To stop it, kept bathroom door closed. This room had no view but it served its purpose to rest, eat and sleep. I'd stay there again. The price was right.

Issues with my stay

I had an issue when checking in I was advised that my room was not prepaid and I was required to repay in order to check-in.I contacted hotel.com that stated my reservation was prepaid and place me on hold to contact the hotel. he was told that the reservation system was down and couldnt be checked at that time. I waited a couple of days and went back to the front desk and was told my room was prepaid and the second charge was being refunded.Issue # check into my room the door would lock and the nice maintence man replace the lock and had a new key wait when we got back. issue #3 if your stay comes with breakfast they ask if you want apple of orange juice. I ask for apple juice everyday and got orange juice so i stop asking and order orange juice and they finally had apple juice on the 5th day. everyone is nice and friendly but it takes more than nice and friendly to have a satisfied customer.

This hotel was not what we expected. First of all, they put us In a room room with a broken mirror. The bathroom was extremely small and uncomfortable with nowhere to really put your items. The ac was very strong blowing right on the bed. They had complimentary breakfast which was good. But there only one real tour available which limited our activities. The surrounding area is not tourist friendly to walk, shop or buy food. It was ok for a one night stay I would say if you want to visit Blue Lagoon which is so beautiful. But for tourist looking to hang out I would suggest going to Ocho Rios instead.

My weekend spent at Hotel Tim Bamboo was quite wonderful. Not only is it located in the most beautiful parish, Portland, the location was accessible. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was very welcoming, and breakfast was simply amazing.

If I could give this property 0 stars I would. We stayed there 6 days and it was horrible from beginning to end. First of all, there was no consistent water from the shower head, only small droplets. Sometimes the water was gone completely. I traveled 14 hours and by the time I arrived, I was extremely tired and sweaty. Can you imagine how frustrated I was when I could not shower. I sent several messages to the owner and on our 4th day, she decided to respond and claimed she would change our room. She never did nor did she ever come to the hotel. I found that extremely unprofessional and rude. Also a part of the ceiling in the bathroom was peeling off and it looked moldy. There was no replenishing of toilet paper, we had to constantly ask. The TV had stopped working as well while we were there. The only good thing about this place was that the air conditioner worked. Also they claim they have breakfast every morning but you have to put an order in every night and even that they got wrong. This was just a horrible place to stay. I would NEVER recommend this \"hotel\". They refunded us a day when we barely had any wayer for 6 days. I took videos and pictures of everything. This place should be ashamed and I can't believe they are still open. Such a lack of customer service ! Please don't spend your money here !

Not worth the money. The cable didn’t work, the A/C in the living room didn’t work. We had to ask for a fan and it took hours to come. Roaches in the bathroom, cobwebs in the cupboard on the glasses and pots. It seems they haven’t cleaned this room since before COViD. So disappointing. I will not be staying here again

The facility was subpar it was old and not updated, water was leaking from the bathroom sink the whole time we were there and we did not have water to shower for a whole day5/21/2021. We had to go down to the desk 4 times complaining before it was fixed and other customers were complaining about the same thing. There is no phone in the rooms so you could not call down to inform them of any issues. Breakfast on the first day took forever to come and they would not feed us until we paid them in full even though when I reserved the room it said I only had to pay 1/2 of the fee because you already took 1/2 the payment from my card.

The cottage we stayed in needs some serious maintenance! The toilet flush is noisy the faucets are loose, one bedroom was missing a remote for the air conditioner. The fridge was not plugged in. Loud music, and after the buffet breakfast some of the guest had liquor bottles lined up on the wall of the parking lot next to our and was drinking and smoking. The staff at check in did not reminded me that I had to pay for the buffet breakfast. I told the front desk that 2 of their guest were vegan TWICE yet when we got to breakfast their were NO plant based meals for us! We had to wait for the chef to prepare it! I/we will not return and we will not recommend anyone to go there!

Walking distance to shops and food. Very good price for a room. Fenced parking. Sometimes conference center is used throughout the day so it can get somewhat noisy, but taken into consideration how COVID 19 decimated tourism I’m happy for them that they found the way to be industrious 👏

I stayed for 3 nights in October. Great weather. The staff there is pleasant and professional. They offer a free breakfast there, but there are also several options close by in town. Basic, but clean rooms. The hotel can arrange tours, but it is helpful if you can find a local driver.

This property needs a makeover...disappointing

The place desperately needs a structural facelift and modern appliances and furniture. The beds are ridiculously small in our room of two beds. The internet sucked and the TV is so small that you may need binoculars to see. It's deceiving looking at the property from the outside, but once inside, reality struck. The bathroom faucet was broken and the warm water did not always work...also, water pressure fluctuated. Yes, it's true, there are ants everywhere and they come in different sizes. I bought a pizza, and by the next morning, the ants had taken over the six slices that we had plans to eat for breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, that prepared by the property fell below expectations. On the two-day stay, we only went for breakfast the first morning. This hotel needs to install a pool. Great location if you want to capture what's good about Port Antonio and its surroundings. For US$120 per day, it was not worth the spend. I would not return, and could not recommend this property in good conscience.

Best Cottage in Port Antonio!

My stay was very pleasant. The Place was Extremely Clean, Staff was friendly and very helpful. A/C in one room was not working properly and the front guest bathroom had alot of Ants. When i called they came right away trying to fix the issue immediately. I loved my visit and I will stay again in the future.

There was an event the night of our visit which should not have been an issue but for the fact that the way the hotel is built, the main event room is adjacent to all the guest bedrooms. With no sound absorption or way to cancel the noise, we were warned that the loud noise and music from the event until midnight. The rooms should not have been made available for booking with the event taking place, since there was no way to cancel the noise despite the event being for a good cause.

We did enjoy the breakfast included and the food was delicious and there was great variety. They had servers who were helpful in selecting from the breakfast options.

The room did not look like the pictures. The place is getting close to wanting a renovation. The wifi did not stay connected for long and the signal was weak from inside the hotel room and the satellite/cable box would not stay steady, so we had to spend over 30 minutes to seat it correctly so that the television would show and the loose cables would not work. The key to the room did not work and I had to ask for help from staff to open the door as you needed to pull and twist the nob while turning in a certain way.

The bed sheet had stains on it and while the room was booked for 3 people, there was one towel - so we had to go and request towels and washcloths.

From Check-in with Annette, through the housekeeping and restaurant staff, the Hotel Tim Bamboo is one of the most friendliest and professional hotels that I have visited in Jamaica. The location is very convenient to town, but it doesn't offer great room views.

We had a wonderful 9 days here. From the check in with Nadia to the ladies who cleaned the room, our service was excellent. Every time we asked for something the staff always accommodated us. At times the water pressure was low, but that’s not the hotels fault, it’s the aging island infrastructure. The hotel was very clean, no bugs even in the heat. The only thing that was a bit deficient was the internet, so we really didn’t use it. All else was great and we will stay here again

Tim Bamboo had NO RUNNING WATER to take a shower on my travel day. After notifying the front desk attendant, he brought me water from an unknown source in a dirty used orange juice container for my use. The television was broken and kept going in and out without any sound.
