Enjoyed the stay. Room was very good. A little dated. Room service not so good. Never topped up coffee milk etc. sundries which you had to pay for were missing which could have lead to being charged for something we did not have. Had to remind reception twice of this. But would stop there again as overall experience was good

It’s my second stay at a Malmaison and I have the same critique as last time: it’s trying hard to be a hip hotel, which is fine, but they don’t really seem to know what to do when you come in with a kid- they kindof make you feel like you’re in the wrong place. The room was comfortable though, and the food delicious.

Special birthday, welcome lovely, parked right outside. Requested river view - kindly provided however discovered scaffolding and mesh covering completely the building obscuring the view. Room comfortable, large bathroom and quiet. Cannot comment on their food as we out elsewhere in Dundee. Malmaison is iconic and pretty much ticks the box.

I stayed for 9 nights and would definitely come back. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was perfect for my long stay. The bed and pillows are extremely comfy. The hotel is in a super handy spot! The train station is literally across the road and the bus to Edinburgh airport stops right out the front. Dundee itself is fantastic and has all the shops you’d need.
The only negative things I can mention are there are no clothes washing facilities for longer stays, the rooms can get a bit noisy on a Saturday night, but I slept with earplugs and it was fine and parking is extortionately expensive. There is a washing service available, but it’s also very expensive.

The twin room was tired and dark - brighter bulbs in the main lights would be a big help to find things as the walls and furnishings are all dark too! It was cold on arrival, the heating had to be switched on at reception and then made so much noise I had to turn it off to sleep. This was an ongoing issue I was told - so why let the room? Clean bathroom, just nowhere to hang anything.

Was in room 214, room was noisy due to being directly above bar which played loud music until 2am. This room was also immediately beside entrance to floor so lots of foot traffic outside door coming and going causing noise. Further more the room appeared to have a lot of noise from the buildings pipework as there was regular loud drainage noises every mins through the the day/night.

Room clean but pillows too soft and unsupportive... Mattress and duvet comfortable.

Due to not returning to room until after 11pm and the us having unpacked etc we chose to tolerate issues rather than ask for a move. At check out when staff member asked if stay was good issues were reported with minimal apology voiced and then she asked if 'otherwise, your stay was ok?'. Not good enough.

Booked a cosy double but when entering the room given all you could hear were fans from outside the window, looking out you could see the fans too, we then went to speak to the reception staff who thought giving me the room next door may have made a difference but infact the noise from the fans was worse, she stated it’s because you booked a cosy double, I replied saying it shouldn’t matter what room I booked I shouldn’t expect to be awake all night with fans running outside the windows! Apparently she upgraded us to 319, the room was no different with the smallest bathroom I have ever been in and I stay in hotels a lot with my job. On a plus side the breakfast and breakfast staff were lovely.

Hotel lovely staff very friendly the only drawback for me was the tv. I didn’t go to watch tv but like catching up with the news etc but as I have a hearing problem I couldn’t as you could not put the subtitles on. Seemingly you can’t change the settings to allow this. Why I don’t know as you can easily put them off and on with the subtitles button.

Everything about the hotel appeared fine it is absolutely stunning, but it’s an old refurbished hotel and the floorboards creek badly. It’s impossible to move about the room without waking your roommate The toilet cistern also made an unearthly noise. Overall a very disturbed sleep. My room was huge and luxurious. Good shower, blackout curtains. 2 hours late checkout for £15. The airport bus leaves right from front of the hotel, and station is a 3 minute walk. V&A Dundee is only about 5 minutes walk. Only issue was the heater in my room didn't work.

The first room they put me in was a dungeon…. I literally could not see the sky through the dirty window facing a brick wall. I begged them for another room, as it was thoroughly depressing. They were full that night. The next day they put me in the most beautiful room one floor up. It faced the river and was deeply satisfying to my soul. I come to Scotland every year to visit my mother who has Alzheimer’s, So to come back to the depressing first room was just the worst. Sadly, when I returned to the second room after visiting my mum, I discovered the whole fourth floor AC system was broken. So they had to move me again one floor below. Louis and Brian were very helpful in upgrading and moving me. I was grateful they still gave me a river facing room, but it was not nearly as special as the one I just left. The rest of my stay was OK. I got the breakfast included option, which was nice. The staff in there were lovely. The facility itself is in much need of a facelift. The wallpaper, lighting, carpet, and fixtures are all very tired. There was lots of visible dust. I probably won’t go back there again. I think I’ll get a city center apartment next time. Whatever you do, DO NOT book a cozy double - which was what they called the dungeon room. Nothing cozy about it. The best part about the hotel is that the edinburgh airport bus literally stops right outside the front door.

Beautiful room with a lot of space, high ceilings, sumptuous decor and a touch of local pride. I had a room with a great view, a luxury bathroom and all the trimmings. A huge, comfy bed let me get a good night's sleep. Staff at reception and at breakfast were welcoming, friendly and efficient.
I also really like that I can so easily walk to this hotel from the train station.
I've stayed here on several occasions and it's been consistently excellent. I've stayed in several other hotels in Dundee and think the Malmaison is the best option.

Good value for money, but overall felt a little dated and in need of some TLC. Huge room with a comfy bed, but on a main road and very noisy (literally at the main airport bus stop which is in operation all through the night) with ineffective air conditioning and an over hot bathroom. Check in and restaurant staff were pleasant but the front desk attendant when we left literally couldn’t have cared less and barely looked up. Ok for one or two nights but could be better.

The decor inside the Malmaison is unique an interesting. The staff is kind and helpful.
The beds are comfortable and the showers are nice.
The food selection is good for breakfast. We did not eat there for dinner, so I cannot speak to that.
If you are traveling to Dundee, this is a good and convenient option.

The hotel is in an excellent location, close to the train station, and there is a car park across the road. The staff were friendly, particularly those in the bar. The room was clean. On the negative side, the room was noisy due to neighbouring pubs and the breakfast, while decent, was not worth the price.

Malmaison Stay with 2 dogs excellent

First time at Malmaison with 2 small dogs. Room was a suite and only had booked a standard double room. Absolutely beautiful with bath and Jack and Jill shower facilities and sinks. Extra room to side with circular couch bed and flat screen TV . Staff very helpful. Unable to take dogs into Brasserie restaurant but are in for stairs bar and food brought to table. But more difficult at breakfast but eventually after explaining unable to up and down lift with breakfast we were allowed to sit in conference side room with dogs which was adjacent to buffet breakfast room. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Disappointed as had mould on shower head

We have stayed at the Malmaison in Dundee several times before and really enjoyed it.

Unfortunately we were disappointed with this particular stay on 4/5/25 we were allocated room 521 -:
1-: It was a small, dark room which looked out onto the wall of the next building which is very close.
2-: The shower head had black mould on it which is totally unacceptable.
3-: The wash basin was leaking from underneath it.
4-: The heat in the room was unbearable and uncomfortable, so much so we hardly slept.
The food we had was excellent as was the service from staff in the dining room and in the bar area.

The staff at the hotel was very welcoming and I was lucky enough to be able to check in a but early. My room was very spacious and clean. The TV had chromecast which was a nice surprise. My room service breakfasr was lovely as well. My only complaint which is minor ,is that while the bathroom was massive, the shower was tiny and awkward to get in and out of with the folding door. I will definitely be back to this hotel.
