When we arrived we tried to book into the spa but then got told it was full and would not be able to use the spa during our stay which was one of the main reasons we booked the hotel. We got told that we would be upgraded due to the above but this was already done for my partners 30th birthday and was not done due to not being able to use spa (there was a card in the room already - this is how we knew). Breakfast was ok but the selection was poor and due to going a little later there was a lot of items that was not available and had to wait for.
The spa (which we managed to get into eventually) - it was a nice spa, very nice and clean! However the sauna was not hot and the steam room was not steamy.
Overall - nice hotel, spacious room with a view but certain things let down the stay which is a shame as we were celebrating a 30th birthday and had high expectations from a high rated hotel.

Having stayed a few times previously we felt that some elements of our visit were good but not of the high standard we had experienced before. We felt that the decor was looking tired, especially the carpets and there was one corridor on the first floor which was without light, it came on automatically but only after we had passed through the area. We had been looking forward to breakfasting in the hotel as previously this had been a really lovely experience. Had to wait three hours from check in at noon for an ‘expedited’ room to be made available ! Then got a room, albeit a nice room, but certainly not overlooking the 17th fairway as booked ! I then had a self admitted non golfer telling me it WAS overlooking the 17th fairway……… staff at hotels like this need to remember they actually are working and don’t own the place ! Condescending attitudes are horrid in the service industry .Wonr be back ! Fairmont for the next trip

Some areas of the hotel have been upgraded since our last visit including the Spa and it’s a massive improvement.
Staff are friendly and efficient.
We weren’t massively keen on the food in the Jigger Inn. However it was busy so maybe we’re in the minority there.
Overall a very good stay, we’ll definitely be back.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were made to feel very welcome and valued. Check in process was easy. Our room was lovely with a view over the iconic old course. Husband said the view was out of this world and would be to any golf fan. We didn’t eat dinner in the hotel but the bar on the 4th floor was lovely. There was a piano player and the vibes were amazing. Breakfast in the morning on the 4th floor was lovely, one of the best breakfasts we’ve had in any hotel. And the view while having breakfast was even better! Bed and room was great, bed very comfy. Room was very quiet and relaxing. Shower was great. The only thing we found not the best was the size of the gym. It was fairly busy and could have been double the size with the demand. But other than that, everything about our stay was 5/5 and would definitely return in the future.

This is such a comfortable and luxurious hotel. I have no regrets! The spa is great! And I only wish I had learned about the fitness schedule sooner. We were there for 4 days. It was so comfortable. The rooms got dark at night. Cool and air conditioned.

My one issue- Just beware when booking. We booked the Eden King Room and the bed was clearly a Queen. The staff kept insisting it was a “UK King” I’ve traveled all over the UK and have never heard of such a thing. A King Bed is a King Bed. A Queen Bed is a Queen Bed.

The staff at the Old Course go above and beyond. We were staying to celebrate the anniversary of our engagement, when we also stayed here. On both occasions the staff have gone out of their way to make each weekend truly special.
The hotel itself is beautiful with great facilities and an unrivalled location. I also appreciate that they have gluten free bread meaning the breakfast has several gluten free options - in future it would be good if these options were even more extensive (e.g gf granola or pancakes/french toast etc.)

Hotel was nice but we asked for a course view room. We could see the grass but never expected to be ground floor. It was extremely disappointing as this was my husbands 60th birthday and I wanted it to be special. We had people walking by our windows randomly several times a day due to being on the ground floor. The room was also very separate from the rest of the hotel down the hallway to the conference rooms. For the price we paid for a view of the course, had I known I would have stayed elsewhere and saved myself the disappointment and cost.
