We were in D.C. for a long weekend getaway. We arrived at The Hamilton 3 hours before check-in time anticipating to have our luggage put in the luggage hold. We were pleasantly surprised to be told that our room was available. The lobby area was beautiful, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our room was a reasonable size, and very clean. The hotel is very conveniently located - 1 block away from the closest Metro Station (McPherson Square) and blocks away from many of the areas we were heading.

Giving the site an “ok” rating because of the location and the historic atmosphere. The staff were nice.
The rooms are small. The “Queen” beds were definitely double beds only. The beds were also very uncomfortable. The bathroom linens were old and threadbare. The only accessible drinking water was one fountain in the lobby. Not all of the elevators worked and they were not labeled as such. It would have been nice to have a coffee bar or something. Not worth the price at all. Disappointing.

While the rooms are lovely and the sheets were immaculate, I needed help with three things - 1) the front desk had to send an engineer to help me set up the Chromecast (there really was an issue, but the engineer came up at 930 pm and solved it) 2) the shower head was old and was not providing sufficient water flow and was malleable enough to where me trying to clean the openings was just squishing them (the showerhead wasn’t just cleaned, it was replaced by the time I got back to the room, but that tells you about the state of the hardware), the shower curtain was dirty - and again, they replaced the single-layer one with a replaceable liner fabric one (which tells you you have to ask for a clean and a modern liner and a shower head that works because they won’t update it on their own), and the repair team left two sharp items on the floor as a failure of sweeping the floor after the repair. I brought them to the front counter and other than an apology there was no effort to remedy this (they asked me if I needed medical help after stepping on it). So, it’s nice…. But you have to ask for basics. They’ll come through and help but they’ll still miss the mark. I’d stay here again but I’d adjust expectations tremendously.

A complete hit-and-disastrous-miss stay — both in hotel facilities and customer service.
After a long day, I returned to the hotel hoping to take a warm shower and rest for the next day. Unfortunately, my bathroom had no hot water at all, even after trying for more than 30 minutes, and the shower pressure was weaker than a car windshield washer.
The maintenance staff sent by the front desk appeared unfamiliar with the issue and unable to resolve it. Instead of fixing the problem, the bathroom was left in worse condition — the entire floor was covered with dirty shoe water, and my personal bath towels were used to wipe hands and tools without permission. The staff then left the room without explanation or resolution.
By this time it was already past 11 PM, and I had to go back downstairs to explain the situation again. The front desk seemed reluctant to believe the issue and showed little initiative to come upstairs and verify it themselves. Only after considerable discussion was I finally moved to another room.
After 2–3 hours of unnecessary stress and exhaustion late at night, I was finally able to end the day. Choosing Hamilton Hotel turned out to be a deeply disappointing and exhausting experience, and unfortunately, I would not stay here again.

The room and amenities in the room were old. The mirror has dirty spots on it. The shower switch was very tight and hard to twist. The shower was also very outdated. The hairdryer was very old and looked very used. Although the bedsheets were very clean and neat. The valet workers have no responsibility at all. Me and my family waited in the hotel lobby for thirty minutes, before we had to ask if our car has arrived. Our car was already parked outside around the corner of the hotel, but they did not let us know the car had already been parked outside. The valet workers already seen us waiting in the lobby for thirty minutes, but chose to not let us know. We only found out our car had already been outside after we directly asked them if the car was ready. We were going to tip, but after they deliberately decided to not tell us even though they saw we were waiting in the lobby as well as outside the hotel, we feel they did not deserve the tip.

Hotel informed us at check in that they were losing water from 10pm-6am the next morning. By 7am, still no water. Told us that the city “just” told them about the service. But all other businesses on the block has door tags notifying businesses.

One of our room had shower issues all weekend. Would not recommend this hotel or their staff.

Sabrina went above and beyond making sure my weekend stay expectations were met. Had an early issue with water main on public street which affected room. Sabrina made other accommodations on site, including extra perks to justify water issue. The Hamilton definitely will get my business again based on overall stay, along with the exceptional customer service provided.

The overnight stay in DC at the Hamilton was typically fine for us except the city had worked on a water main nearby supposedly from 10pm to 6am. The front desk informed us that the water would be off and had set out notice pamphlets. There was no water still at 7:30 in the morning as we were getting ready to leave. Definitely an inconvenience. A special shoutout for Kevin at the front desk who was calmly and methodically trying to deal with the guest complaint mayhem by himself.

Overall my stay was decent, but the aesthetic of the hotel wasn't my favorite. It was in a convenient location, and I was able to walk everywhere. The food on site was very disappointing to say the least though. I also was charged extra fees that I had been previously told I wouldn't have to pay. The communication from staff just wasn't the best. The room felt a bit outdated but it was clean.

While the hotel was clean and secure, the staff very pleasant and helpful, I found the room to be a little tired and in need of an update, especially the carpeting. It would be nice if there were more than one ice machine too, though the filtered water dispensers were a nice touch. Just enough of a negative that I wouldn’t give it five stars, however it was an overall good experience and I would not be averse to staying there again.

I am not a breakfast person so I did not partake in this amenity, they do have a restaurant on site that was warm and inviting, I would highly recommend the Butternut Squash Gnocchi. The staff at the Hamilton were friendly and helpful.

Convenient location and reasonable cost with exception of overnight parking. Advertised as $69.00 (already high) but in reality you will pay over $100.00 with fees, taxes, taxes on fees, valet tips, etc. for the “convenience”.

Other than parking racket, the Hamilton Hotel was great! Some elevator pranksters, but it was New Years Eve so perhaps to be expected. No noise outside room in hallways or adjoining rooms so that was very welcome and appreciated.

House keeping was pretty basic, room was very , very dusty and house keepers were in & out, no vaccuming & no dusting.
Front desk were polite and the lobby was cleaned well & smelt fresh always.
Ate in the restaurant once, messed up my stomach, wouldn’t recommend. Stayed 11 days, not recommended for long stays, shorter stays better.

The hotel looks really good in pictures but when you arrive, you realize that is not the case. The lobby area was ok. The check in process was quick and easy. However, the hotel is outdated and needs to be refurbished. The bathroom was gross, it had mold and the towels looked more gray than white. The plumbing system not the best. One of my family members used the bathroom and they needed to call the front desk to get it plunged. In addition, they apparently had a big party downstairs and there were so many people there that you couldn’t even go up or down the elevator. Let’s not even mention that these party people were smoking weed in the rooms and we had to smell it everywhere. If you are going to have a party like this then you should be more considerate of people with families. The one thing I can say was amazing was the kindness and helpfulness of the front desk staff. Other than that, I would not recommend this hotel until the rooms are updated. As for myself and my family, we will not be returning to the Hamilton Hotel.

The hotel itself was very nice and in a good location. I stayed in New Year’s Eve, and the problem was there was a massive party in the ballroom. The people attending this party were stating in the hotel and were having parties in their rooms. They were loud and there was a smell of weed throughout the corridors all night. The people attending the party had no regard for any of the other guests and were being loud and obnoxious. The guests were going up and down the lifts meaning it took 15 minutes to get up to your room. I really did like the hotel, however, we should have been informed of this party and we would have stayed elsewhere. I understand it was New Year’s Eve and I’m all for celebration, but having to get up at 5:30 am in the morning meant I didn’t really get a good sleep.

I spent a couple of days at the Hamilton with my family and what literally stood out was the kindness and the sensibility of the staff. James at the reception welcomed us warmly and provided us immediately with the room even though we were there way earlier. I have appreciated that type of kindness. Moreover, James specifically put himself on the front line for any specific request I had and his professionalism is what a great Hotel should always prioritize. The cleaning ladies on our floor have been very thoughtful and kind with us, always smiling! Last but not least, the staff at the Sophia restaurant, from the bar tender to the hostess, I have appreciated the professionalism and the service they provided every time. Thank to all of you for a great weekend, my family will definitely remember this experience on their way back to Italy!
