Die Bilder des Hotels auf Expedia und die Realität stimmen absolut nicht überein. Das Hotel (Zimmer und Poolbereich) sind in einem katastrophalen Zustand. Zwar ist die Lage toll aber der Zustand von Zimmer und Pool verderben einem den Urlaub so richtig!

Relaxing stay in Taormina

Lovely staff at Hotel Piccolo Giardino made our stay very relaxing. Breakfast in garden with resident cats, restaurant on site and roof top terrace for sunbathing. The location was perfect only one minute from the high street Corsa Umberto. The only drawback was the bathroom was rather tired and the shower was in an awkward place, not good for those with limited mobility.

The property was very well located and you could pop right out onto the main shopping street. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. However this hotel is in need of some maintenance. The bathrooms smelled of mold. The room was also not the cleanest. There was also trim ripped off around our door. Parking is also super inconvenient. However, I think that is the case for most hotels in the area. The free breakfast was also not very good.

We thought the overall stay was okay. We had two major issues including our safe that was not working that we reported the first day and nothing was resolved. The second issue being our AC was making all kinds of loud noises whether it was on or off. When we reported this to the maintenance staff, nothing was made of it. Made the nights at times unbearable. Would still recommend the stay, but our experience was poor at times.

We stayed in a family room. It was clean and beds were comfortable. Good air conditioning. However, there wasn't enough storage for clothes, so we lived out of our suitcases. Bathroom was dated with shower over bath, poor water pressure and temperature kept changing by itself.
Breakfast was buffet and great variety and plentiful.
Location great, close to the cable car and just off the Corsa Umberto for great choice of restaurants and shops.
Staff is what makes this place, they were amazing, full of knowledge and so helpful.

Horrible! Booked 4 rooms for 3 nights in heart of summer and they had no air conditioning in rooms from 8am to 10pm. And they lie and mislead public by conning them into believing that their system was “down”. Bathrooms were dirty with mold and paint/tile chipped. Drains clogged so showers flooded rooms. Toilet flushers popping off walls. They advertise smart TV’s but connection was so weak that not even basic cable available. It’s in a great location, had a pretty pool deck, and decent breakfast but that’s about it! Whole place was one giant false advertisement

Catfished! Very upsetting

Upon checking into the room, I was immediately struck by the poor state of the accommodation. The room contained visible mould — both in the main area and bathroom — along with cracked and damaged bathroom tiles. These conditions are entirely unacceptable and far from the standard that was marketed and paid for.

Despite this, I attempted to make the most of my stay and assumed this may have been an isolated case. I then visited the hotel pool, only to find it in an appalling and unusable condition. The pool contained deep-rooted algae, raising serious concerns about the hygiene and safety standards upheld by your property. When I brought this to the attention of your staff, I was informed that maintenance might attend to it the following day — further confirming that no adequate routine maintenance is being conducted. (No maintenance ever came) This is not only disappointing, but entirely unacceptable, especially considering access to a functioning pool was a key factor in choosing this hotel.

Additionally, the room provided did not include the balcony that was clearly listed and paid for at the time of booking. I was informed that a \"proper\" room would be available on Tuesday — several days into my stay — which defeats the purpose of the reservation entirely. We were moved and the room was somewhat better but over was very disappointed in my experience. Only credit I can give is the staff were very lovely.

Nice little hotel with pool. Though changed hands last Nov so restaurant and bar not yet open. Management, upon our request, changed our room to a larger room which was really great of the. Breakfast simple but plentiful. Staff (all). very friendly and helpful. We have stayed at this hotel over 6 times now 2022/23. 2024 they were booked and this year 2025. Was great to get back to a place you can call home. Good bang for the buck, or Euro! I would like to personal thank the management for making our stay and wonder week in Taormina! I stayed at Hotel Piccolo in Taormina and unfortunately had a very poor experience from start to finish.

We were first placed in Room 108, where the air conditioning unit was leaking, the balcony door wouldn’t lock (which felt unsafe), and the shower backed up with visible mold. We also noticed that walking barefoot in the room left our feet completely black — clearly, the floor hadn’t been cleaned properly.

We were then moved to Room 401 on the top floor, but the elevator was broken, so we had to carry our luggage up several flights of stairs. That room smelled strongly of sewage, had urine left in the toilet when we arrived, and the shower gurgled loudly for long periods. Again, our feet turned black walking around the room. After showering, my girlfriend developed a sore throat and wheezing, which we believe was caused by poor air quality or mold.

Despite raising these issues with the hotel staff, they refused to offer any refund or take responsibility. With no real solution offered, we ended up booking another hotel across the street for the rest of our stay at our own expense.

Taormina is beautiful, but this hotel was a major letdown. Poor hygiene, unclean rooms, and a complete lack of support from staff — I would not recommend Hotel Piccolo to anyone.

Hotel was right off the main street so convenient but during dinner service it was very loud with musicians and chatter. Not a big issue as it usually quieted down by 11pm.
The lift was broken and we were told at check-in it should be fixed that day. When we checked out 4 days later it was still not functioning and we had seen no one working on it for days.
Hotel uses very strongly perfumed cleaners. We had to ask that they not clean our room as the smell was so overpowering it was making us sick.
Breakfast was ok.
Room is very basic with no storage, and very small, even by European standards.

Our stay here was terrible. The room was not as advertised. The bathroom was dirty with mold inside the shower, the shower did not drain properly so ended up standing in our own waste water. Some of the staff were not very helpful with our concern and basically told us there was nothing they could do. The outdoor pool area was worn out with a broken ladder which is dangerous.

The only shining light was Vincenzo at the front desk who was very helpful.

I would not recommend staying here.

Property is well located in the main town and all staff were friendly, helpful and amazing.

Breakfast was ok but plenty of places to go out and get something nearby.

Views from the hotel were great as well.

Negative points:

Pool area especially the decking area needed some repair and maintenance.

Room was ok but shower had no pressure and kept running hot and cold while using it. Also shower could have done with a better clean.

Lift was out of order for a couple of days.

Other point to note:

If you like a firm mattress you will sleep well in the beds.

We had a wonderful time at Il Piccolo Giardino - the hotel is in a great location with direct access to the pedestrian streets of beautiful Taormina. The cable car to Mazzaro is also only a 5 walk away. The hotel staff were so lovely and accomodating and provided us with information and recommendations. We enjoyed the simple buffet breakfasts. The rooftop pool is small but offers a nice view and a place to cool off the in the summer heat. If you have a car I would recommend using the valet service, which gave us a small discount on our parking but was also super convenient as the car was only ever a 10 minute wait and we didn’t need to walk/climb the stairs in the heat. We are returning to Taormina next year and would definitely consider staying here again.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in after traveling to over 20 countries. Shameful service. I booked the balcony room on Expedia and the photos all showed the water from the room. This is the reason why I booked the hotel in the first place. When I arrived, I was given a key for the 1st floor and was very confused because the view could not be like what's shown in Expedia from ground level. I ended up being right and the view was of the inner courtyard. So I basically paid extra and wasted money for no reason. With that said, DO NOT SPEND EXTRA ON THE \"balcony\". On top of that, I left a \"room in use\" sign on my door and the maid still opened it while I was In the room. I went to reception and complained about this and was gaslighted and told that I had the sign on the \"Enter\" side, which is completely false, I would never do this. The person at reception was very rude about it and kept insisting that I was in the wrong. Next, I closed the sliding door to my bathroom one night and the door just locked by itself, so I had to call reception to unlock the door. Thank god I was not on the inside, otherwise, I would have been stuck in. Lastly, when I checked out and tried to pay the city tax, the woman at the front desk told me that I can only pay in cash and this was explained to me at check in and written on the reservation. IT WAS NOT EXPLAINED TO ME AT CHECK IN AND IT WAS NOT WRITTEN IN THE RESERVATION. So I had to go take out cash at an ATM for this.

Hotel Piccolo Giardini is a lovely small hotel up 3 flights of stairs from Corso Umberto I. We had a wheelchair user with us and were able to access via the rear entrance on Via Giovanni Bosco where there are 3 or 4 steps down but there is a stairlift and a lift to all floors in which a wheelchair will fit. Rooms are bright, clean and comfortable. Rooftop views wonderful. Pool small and very cool but welcome on a hot day. The piccolo giardini is a charming refuge. Staff are friendly but this is more of self service as no bar or restaurant open all day.

Positives included the hotel being in a great, central location - walk straight out of the hotel into the pedestrianised area of Taormina.
Breakfast was also good, with a selection of fresh fruit, hot and cold food that you can eat either inside or in the garden. And the staff were friendly and helpful - reception available until midnight and out of hours emergency number provided. They also booked a taxi for us on our last day.

Negatives include that the superior double room we booked was fairly small although the balcony was a good size, and the small bathroom was internal to the room with no window. Being internal meant the shower was a bit mouldy and the bathroom also wasn’t very clean when we arrived. We told reception about this and it was addressed but still wasn’t as clean as I would really expect a hotel bathroom to be. We had stayed in two other locations in Sicily before this hotel and both rooms were much cleaner.

There is also limited control over the air conditioning - temp can be set but not fan speed etc. it would have been nice to have an individual air con unit in the room that we could control.

I was traveling alone and meeting friends who were staying at beach. I liked staying in town so I could be more active and explore which I was able to do while also visiting friends at Beach Hotel. Positives about Picollo: location…very friendly and accommodating front desk staff pretty good bkfst. Cons: elevator broken most of week I was on 3rd floor. Bathroom/shower cleanliness. Power went out randomly in room and I had to adjust with circuit box. Frig didn’t work. No place for clothes. I adjusted cause it was a nice trip but it would have been more comfortable otherwise. Shouldn’t be the case even for this class of hotel

In theory, this hotel could be great. Aside from the thin walls and uncomfortable beds, it’s in a great location and the staff is very kind and personable. Unfortunately, we had other, avoidable, issues that made our stay unbearable. Our room was infested with small flies and mosquitos that we spent an hour trying to get rid of because the window was left open by the cleaners late at night. The bathroom had black mold covering the walls and left us both coughing and feeling sick whilst in the room. When we requested to get a refund after the first night due to the health hazard and switch to another hotel, they said no but moved us to another room. This room was also infested with mosquitos and had mold on the curtains. Because of this, we had to sleep with masks on to prevent us from coughing while we were in the room.
I would not stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to anyone going to Taormina.

A summer break in central Taormina

We booked four nights in the Junior Suite with seaview mid-August. We loved the central location, right in the centre of town but yet on the roof terrace by the pool it was peaceful and relaxing. The terrace has an amazing 360-degree view. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and a good breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Taormina.

The room temperature 27C (the entire building stays at that temperature) was too hot for sleeping so we had to open our door and the noise from outside kept us awake. We were also told we would be on the 3rd floor and when we arrived they had us on the 2nd floor. It is discouraging to be promised something and then switched.

The hotel is situated right in the heart of Taormina town. It was well run and staff were efficient and friendly. Arrival with a car is a bit tricky as the road behind is narrow and a dead end. The food was good at breakfast . A simple buffet. Good bar in the evening lovely peaceful garden. Pool is very small but good just to cool off, roof deck area is nice.

The hotel is well located, very comfortable and has a small pool area on the roof with sun loungers and amazing views. Eating breakfast in the garden area was lovely, the breakfast food was good and the coffee was excellent. The only downside was there was very little storage in bathroom or bedroom, so nowhere to put out bathroom products and no wardrobe or drawers other than some hanging space on a rail and 2 tiny shelves. But it didn’t detract from the stay, it might have done if we were staying more than 2 nights.

This small hotel has the best location ever, nestled close to the centre of all the buzz but calm and quiet. The roof top area and pool is such a treat, an oasis in the heat, small but perfect.

Sure, breakfast could be better but honestly? Who cares. It’s a fab wee hotel.

Ideal location just off Corso Umberto, close to shops and restaurants. Very nice rooftop pool in which to cool off, peaceful garden area and nice rooms. Pleasant and helpful staff.
The light breakfast included was a little disorganised due to a lack of staff, but adequate, and there is always the delightful Mennula bakery just below the hotel

The mattress had a big stain, the room smell bad, there was no help for the luggage, even though the street exit is several steps up from the reception and to reach a taxi you have to walk 30yd on cobblestone streets

Lovely stay

We enjoyed our weeks stay at Il Piccolo Giardino. Our superior room had all we needed and the terrace afforded a lovely view of the sea and the Greek Theatre. Breakfasts were good and being able to sit in the quiet garden in the morning was excellent. The pool was a bonus with spectacular views across the town to the sea.
The only downside for us in our stay was the noise that came from the restaurant on the steps by the hotel which played loud music from midday to well past midnight. Making a quiet glass of wine on the terrace not so quiet!

Was a good stay but the breakfast was a little cut back from past stays. We had a nice room though this year we went a little earlier and with the pool above us it was tough trying to sleep in with everyone moving the pool furniture around (dragging it across the floor). Though we will be back next year, our 5th time staying here, location is great staff are wonderful and it's nice to be welcomed back by the staff and that they remember us from the previous visits. Next time I think I will try and get the annex building and give that a try.

Alessio at reception was very helpful and friendly. Couldn’t do enough. Rooms were great and location even better. Only thing was that the pool was a bit small and shallow. Otherwise would stay again

The property is grossly overpriced. The breakfast was horrible. The rooms are filthy as are the bathrooms. Overall a horrible experience.

The hotel is quite difficult to find when travelling by car but the valet car parking service was excellent. The hotel is very well placed for the centre of Taormina
