Wonderful stay in the heart of Ragusa Ibla. The location was excellent—within easy walking distance of the main sights, restaurants, and beautiful piazzas that make the town so special. The hotel was charming, impeccably clean, and blended perfectly with the historic character of the area. The staff was welcoming and attentive, and the room was comfortable and well appointed. We only stayed one night, but it was the perfect base for exploring Ragusa Ibla. We would happily stay here again on a future visit.

Just magnificent! Everything about this hotel was spectacular! Our room was stunning and spacious. The private terrace was a bonus. Our morning breakfasts were delicious, and the service was impeccable. Highly recommend this hotel. A special treat was Michel. He took great care of us and told us how to make our stay perfect!

Service at breakfast was good and food good too, they even remembered my birthday with a cake! Unfortunately a/c in room not working and it was very warm. We opened the door but the street noise at night was full on so soon had to close it. Not as restful night and we had askwd for a quiet room!

Reminds us of The Plaza NYC

Outstanding hotel, while immediate entrance looks questionable the furnishings in the guest quarters on the 2-3rd floors are like a museum. Rooms are spotlessly clean. An unusual surprise in the new part of Ragusa.

We had a lovely stay at the Relais Antica Badia. The team were just fantastic in keeping us comfortable throughout our stay. The breakfast was amazing and the little daily cakes and evening chocolates made it special. They even did a small breakfast birthday cake for my wife. The hotel location is good with lots of nice restaurants within a 5 minute walk. The location is also good for accessing Ragusa Ibla via the steps. The local bus station to Modica and Scicli is also an easy walk. We thoroughly recommend a stay here and would certainly stay again.

This hotel is unique. It has so many old and antique rooms for guests to chill. There is free cigars that you can take to your room patio or the rooftop to smoke. The red room is stunning, it is where the breakfast is offered. Our room has very high ceiling and is spacious.

Very nice stay in Ragusa! The location was convenient to new town sites and walk to old town. The bathroom was huge!! Not too much street noise and right across from a beautiful church. We even received turn down service. Breakfast buffet had many options and was in an elegant room. Very clean and safe property. Parking can be challenge but we did find a pay spot nearby.

The hotel is a lovely property. It’s an old building so some part of the roof is low.

We had an issue with our AC but hadn’t changed room but was offered a drink and the a la carte breakfast from the hotel, they also comped our spa visit.

The spa wasn’t that great the steam room never gathered enough steam to feel the effects but the sauna was working well.

The local area is good, a few bars and restaurants, but please book on a weekend as we couldn’t get a place on a Saturday anywhere. You can walk to the old town but be prepared it’s extremely steep walk.

The staff are super friendly and couldn’t do more to help you.

Total would recommend the stay as a great stop over to see the town.

Very nice and stylish place, a mix of all the new Dry across the cathedral on the newer part of Ragusa, about 30 minute walk from the core of the old town. Really nice service, they booked us a table for dinner. Breakfast was really good, though if you like warm dishes, that were none. Definitely highly recommended. Wonderful experience at this hotel which is in a renovated palazzo. The front desk staff were wonderful and friendly, especially Marisa who recommended the zucchini pizza at the restaurant around the block. The room was fine, very comfortable bed. The morning breakfast was laid out the grand ballroom and there were many options to choose from in the buffet. We felt very well cared for from start to finish. Our only regret was that we were just staying one night. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Highlight of my trip around Sicily

The hotel is gorgeous, a palazzo right in front of St. John the Baptist. The breakfast rooms are absolutely beautiful, surpassed only by the breakfast, with several made to order items like eggs Benedict. Also the little cannoli, stuffed by the staff right before you bite into them, are to die for. All the staff, on all areas of the hotel, was incredibly helpful and attentive. Will absolutely book again on a return trip, and probably for more days than I did this time around.

We spent 4 nights at the Relais Antica Badia and used it as a base to explore Ragusa, Noto, Scicli, Marzamemi, Modica, and even managed to fit in a winery visit thanks to the wonderful staff at the front desk. (All day trips are highly recommended.)

The room (Room 205) was amazing with a lovely balcony overlooking the Cattedrale di San Giovanni Battista. The bed, bathroom, and finishings were terrific - the nicest hotel on our travels so far. Breakfast was BIG and excellent quality - too big so we wanted to save room for other meals and had coffee at Caffè Italia instead, a lovely place across the road.

We had aperitivo and dinner at the adjoining restaurant, Ciano, which is not to be missed! It was the best meal we had in Sicily so far (we're serious foodies). Definitely Michelin quality inventive food where every dish Is gorgeous, packed with flavour and very inventive. Every dish is like opening a present. And how often do you leave the restaurant having made friends with the head chef, sommelier and wait staff! Awesome!

Parking on site worked well for us, but there's also a lot around the corner.

Honestly, this visit was a real treat and we highly recommend staying here.

Lovely hotel in a converted Baron's palace in a good location although expect to walk down a lot to restaurants and other attractions in the town centre. Taxis are always available for between 10 and 15 euros if you prefer. Excellent and helpful service throughout.

Room had a lovely Jacuzi but no walk in shower so for that reason I would ask for a different room next time.Also some beautiful sitting rooms for relaxation.

Whilst this is a 5* property,it leaves a lot to be desired. The rooms are quite small and dark and there is little storage space. The breakfast for a 5* hotel was poor. Parking at €15 per night is a bit expensive. I also did not like the staff wanting to do everything for me as if I was incapable. I would have preferred to ask for assistance should I have needed it.

Charming 18th Century Palace!!!

We greatly enjoyed our recent stay at Relais Antica Badia, a charming hotel above the old city of Regusa. The staff was both attentive and helpful with suggestions and recommended some wonderful restaurants in close walking proximity. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with great beds and large bathrooms, and nice amenities. We chose to use their parking service for 15E per day, and it was well-worth the convenience of having them park the car and bring it to us within a few minutes whenever we requested it. I will mention that the walk (all downhill) to the center of the old part of Ragusa was long and very steep with many steps once the road ended, but we did it going down and then got a taxi to bring us back!

Ragusa is a delightful little town, hotel is by the church and trendy restaurants. A walk downhill to historic area so plan a ride back on the bus if you're not up to the return. Beautiful hotel, felt like a Renaissance castle.

Although hard to find, once inside the grounds an extraordinary old palace beautifully restored and preserved. The common rooms are like living in Versailles. Our room was small but nicely appointed. Staff was wonderful. Breakfast and WiFi included. Parking on grounds for 10 Euro/night. Only negative was hotel was in the upper city and the historic old city was 3-4 Km away.

Hotel staff very helpful but Management needs to review what it is aiming for. Breakfasts are miserly other than for loads of cakes, tarts and pastries. Kettle to make own tea but have to ask to get water and selection of cheese, fruit etc at a minimal.
Has the potential to be really good but needs to see what other Hotels offer for the same star rating

XVIIth Century Palace converted to Hotel

Excellent stay at a XVIIth century palace built after the 1693 earthquake that devastated southeastern Sicily. Beautiful interiors and exquisite rooms for breakfast make you feel like Sicilian aristocracy. Nearby restaurants are exceptional and just down the street. Just across the street from the upper town's main square and San Giovanni Battista Basilica. Leisurely and picturesque 30 minute walk to older center of Ragusa Ibla.

Mr. Ottaviani at the front desk was amazingly nice. Good conversation about the town from his local perspective, dinner tips, and curious information. Furthermore, we got to the hotel with a flat tire ( we popped it on the way to it over sicilian country roads) and Mr Ottaviani called the tire shop, who was waiting for us the following morning and in 7 minutes fixed replaced the tire at a low price and we were ready to leave.

The hotel is simply gorgeous. the breakfast rooms are themselves a treat, and the food was outstanding.

Hotel is an old palace opposite the cathedral in Ragusa new town. The rooms are delightful and the service excellent. Breakfast was average. Limited hotel parking through a very tight archway!! Parking in the area surrounding the hotel is not good. Take a cab to visit Ragusa old town, which is breath-taking and worth the effort.

,Excellent hotel. The staff was great. Well located in the new Ragusa. walking distance to ibla via a panoramic walk that takes about 20 minutes and is beautiful, a must see. Ibla is a beautiful town.
Ragusa was an excellent place for us to stop and tour around Modica, noto and villa Amerina and also on the way to Taormina or Siracuse.
If I visit this part of Sicily again I will definitely stay at this hotel again

Helpful receptionist (male) and so good to help with luggage. One receptionist gave us wrong directions to a restaurant - entirely the wrong street, wasting lots of time trying to find it and it was by far the worst meal we had during the whole week, Breakfast rather frantic as the staff were too busy and took ages to bring coffee etc to our table, and we had to keep asking for replenishments of fruit, bread etc. Our room up 2 flights of long stairs which we found tiring but room large and comfy esp. beds! Hopeless plastic 'cups' in bathroom for water which always break, we find! Why not real glasses, please?

Very good, except the dining room was closed for dinner. I am not completely sure if it was because it was a Monday or there was an emergency. In any event, it made for some problems since everything seemed to be closed that night and we had difficulties finding a place to eat. Other than that, the hotel is superb. The decor throughout is appropriately baroque, yet modern. The staff was excellent and helpful. Breakfast in a gorgeous setting with sumptuous, gourmet faremore than made up for dinner.

Gorgeous hotel & fantastic staff - all 5 STARS !!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely historic hotel and rate our overall experience a 5-star in every way! The rooms are beautifully decorated and cleaned twice a day. The staff were all fantastic. All our needs and questions were attended to in the most kind, caring, and professional manner. Breakfast buffet was served in the lovely dining rooms with a wonderful assortment of foods. The is situated along one of the main streets in the historic Baroque section of Ragusa - across the valley from Ragusa-Ibla. There are small restaurants in the area, a tourist information center a block away, a grocery store 2 blocks away, various other shops etc. The ancient stairs (approx 300 stairs !) down to Ragusa-Ibla can be found less than 1/2 of a mile from the hotel. There is also a city bus that runs the route to Ragusa-Ibla and back, as well as taxi services. We feel very fortunate to have picked this excellent hotel in Ragusa from the HOTELS.com website. Our stay there is one of our best memories in our trip to Italy! Many sincere thanks and much appreciation to Ignazio and Michele and the entire staff!!!

Wonderful staff, very helpful, though they tried a little too hard to sell us on the hotel restaurant as the best place in town to eat. Rooms are a bit funky - ours felt somewhat "goth" and did not seem particularly clean. though ;linens were clean, a short walk in the room while barefoot left the bottom of my feet black. Didn't inspire confidence.
The hotel, a former home, is a bit mazelike.

Beautiful palazzo in modern Ragusa.

Greeted by surly receptionists who didn't even ask for our name, but said, first of all, "10 euros for parking". Treated us as if we were unexpected even though we had a confirmed reservation for 3 nights. Whenever we asked for basic city info, the receptionists were unhelpful, chatted on their cell phones, and clearly uninformed and indifferent. No wi-fi in room (ever!), they shut off all air conditioning throughout night and early morning). Elegantly decorated room that faced out on noisy courtyard (7 am loud noises every am), nice breakfast, get there early, food runs out (cold scrambled eggs) and variety of day old pastries. Beautiful palazzo but overall experience makes it a 3 star, not a 5 star.

Restored old palace with a unique atmosphere. Great location right across from the cathedral. Better to stay here than in Ragusa Ibla which is nice during the day but dead at night. Beautiful restoration, miserable local knowledge

Hotel is located in beautifully restored pallazo, breakfast room is sumptuous. Breakfast less so although it improved noticeably on our third day. Stayed in "hibiscus room" which is closet-like with no windows but not claustrophobic due to window in second room which looks over hotel car park and is very quiet and a mirror wall. Staff is astonishingly inept at recommendations. We were sent to a "gelato place" which actually only had ice cream bars, a restaurant that we couldn't get into because we needed reservations, a chocolate shop that was closed, another restaurant that was closed. This was all from different people so it was not due to some instinctive dislike from a single employee and seemed instead simply stellar ineptness. We would stay there again. Location is right across from duomo and tourist office which was very helpful and about 2blocks from the pascale gelatoria, pattiseria, chocolateria and aracine place which is definitely worth a visit.

(The website could do with more precise instructions in English after one has entered the town, currently there are none). Breakfast excellent as was the dinner in the indoor restaurant. Would propose that the hotel reception provide a map of the city on arrival pointing out the good restaurants, sights and shopping in the local area and explain the layout of Ragusa (ie Ibla, the steps etc) or point visitors in the direction of the tourist office which we found on our last day very close to the hotel. If you are driving, keep to the main roads and do not try the side roads unless you drive a very small car!

Fantastic hotel, great value for money

After a last minute change of plan we left Catania early and booked this hotel in Ragusa - it turned out to be the best decision of the holiday. I would thoroughly recommend the hotel - a real gem of a find. We got a taxi from the bus terminal to the hotel as it's about 20min walk.
Set back a bit from the street, through a stone arch, Antica Badia Relais has been beautifully restored and decorated, pure luxury within the rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and the most opulent surroundings in which to have breakfast. It was amazing value for money too, a great way to end our holiday.
The hotel is easy to find, on the main street of the more modern part of Ragusa but easy to walk to the old town (though we resorted to a taxi on return rather than climb the steps, about €10 during the day or €15 at night). Would definitely recommend to others without hesitation.

• Hotel Review: Hotel and staff are fantastic. It was live staying in a elegant palace. The room was beautiful. They hooked us up with a local taxi driver who maded our stay extra special with his professionalism, promptness and always delivering excellent customer service. He truly enhanced our experience in Ragusa and is Over the top!!! The hotel is a hidden gem.

Location storica molto accogliente, situata in centro a Ragusa superiore.
La nostra camera aveva tutti i confort necessari, gradito il letto king size.
La colazione TOP composta da torte e prodotti freschissimi e preparati sul momento.
Tutto lo staff è stato veramente gentile e ospitale, la citta di Ragusa merita certamente una visita ! Da consigliare

Pour avoir fait de nombreux voyages en Italie, et pour avoir fréquenté plusieurs hôtels lors de ce séjour à Palerme, Agrigente, Syracuse... nous pouvons affirmer que cet hôtel est le meilleur où nous avons séjourné et pour le meilleur rapport qualité prix.
Nous avons reçu un très bon accueil, ainsi qu'un excellent niveau de conseil. La chambre et les communs sont très agréables, le petit déjeuner top dans un très belle salle du palais, service attentionné et impeccable. Nous serions ravis d'avoir à nouveau l'occasion de séjourner à nouveau dans cet hôtel.

Hotel molto elegante in palazzo storico in una posizione strategica per spostamenti e per andare a Ibla anche a piedi (ma c’è anche uno shuttle nelle vicinanze).
