When I arrived at the hotel that was booked and confirmed through Expedia, I was told that my reservation had not been booked and that the hotel was full. Luckily the hosts booked me another hotel so that I did not spend the night in my car! I will NEVER use Expedia again since I have already emailed them about this problem and they haven't even gotten back to me!

The hotel was great. Great location. Nice room. Good breakfast. Parking is a bit of an issue. The free parking lot is an not far but a long uphill stair climb. If you have issues with stairs not sure this would be the place to stay. Your vehicle can drive to the hotel to drop off bags and people, but the driver will have to climb about 150 stairs after the car is parked in the free lot.

Great location good value

Great location difficult to get to by car but Mateo the evening clerk was fantastic he helped us get to the hotel and our friend to hers he found us an open pharmacy he suggested a pizzeria and the second night a restaurant and both were spot on. Clean and tidy breakfast could benefit from an upgrade. Location couldn’t be better. Good value.

Wonderful stay in Volterra

Our stay was amazing, from beeing greeted by friendly Matteo who showed us to our cozy and clean room,recommendations for good Restaurants, quiet nights sleep to a delicious breakfast buffet.( local salami and cheese,freshly baked cakes,fresh fruitsalad,croissants( on and on), to best coffee in Italy).
We loved our stay and highly recommend the La Locanda

Convenient City Hotel

Easy to find if you park in the lower car parks to unload your luggage, hotel just inside the City Gate. Then free car park directions provided by the Hotel. Room was very comfortable at the rear of the hotel, so quiet, only lovely bird song in the morning.

Convient and comfortable hotel

Located on a primary street about 2 blocks from the town center near the Roman theater. Attractive hotel which was convent and a school. Room was large and comfortable. A lot of traffic exits the adjacent city gate in the morning which can be a problem on a street side room if you sleep late. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff spoke English and answered all of our questions.

Lovely hotel

Lovely hotel within the walls of this beautiful city. Staff was very accommodating. Free parking at base of the hill, with a number of stairs to climb up, so plan on the exercise!
There are parking spaces for loading luggage just outside the gate.
We had a room facing the street and had no problems with noise even with open windows, but it is off season.

Excellent and reasonably priced hotel

Look no further: This is a wonderful small hotel in lovely Volterra. Room was spacious and the shower was the best we had in Tuscany! Continental breakfast and fine cappuccino included. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful (especially Jenny!). We would happily return to La Locanda. Highly recommended. (Note parking is permitted only outside city walls.)

Good hotel location near to village exit. Old hotel but very nice room. The breakfast was good enough. Easy access every where. There is not free parking nearby. You have to pay. The free parking was mention at the site is very far from the hotel.

It's all about the location. Could not ask for better, inside the walls of the town. Parking was an issue, no free lot close to hotel and a very small pay lot at €18 per day nearby. Room was small and dated but clean and comfortable. No public areas and included breakfast was lousy. Staff was very friendly but not that helpful. Able to walk anywhere in minutes.

Very nice hotel in wonderful Volterra

This hotel is down the main road in Volterra, near one of the gates. As such, if you are on the front of the hotel, it can be rather noisy at night. The airconditioning was not working while we were there and so we had to have the windows open at night to cool the room (we happened to be there during a particularly hot period in early June.) Other than that I have no negative comments about the hotel. The staff were wonderful, the room clean, spacious and very comfortable, the bath huge by european standards, and the breakfast one of the best we experienced in Italy. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Volterra.

Wonderful staff, great location!

My mother and I stayed at the Hotel La Locanda for 7 nights. We were really pleased with the whole experience. If you are looking for a modern hotel with with insipid customer service, chrome and smoked glass, don't come here. If you are looking for a warm welcome, clean rooms, great breakfast and a fab location then this is the place to come!
Volterra is a walled medieval city, but the history of the town stretches back to the 3rd century BC. There is a lot to see and do; amazing chapels, churches and views from the bell tower- if you can manage the stairs! We bought a ticket that allowed us into 6 of the main attractions for about 14 euros. There is a huge choice of restaurants, and the all important gelaterias. Volterra is very famous for it's alabaster, so be prepared to have a suitcase quite literally weighed down with rocks on the way home. It's worth shopping around, and exploring the little side roads- you can find some wonderful places.

The staff are super friendly and helpful. All ladies, which is a nice touch. Rooms are a little small, but very comfortable.. It is clean and decent. Windows open for fresh air. Bathrooms beautiful with marble counter to accommodate toiletries. Located near an entrance of the walled city with several spots for paid parking. A small hotel which are what I like..thumbs up!

Great Location

We had an unfortunate experience with a leaking jacuzzi however the hotel dealt with it with proffesionalism and speed and moved up immediately - just unfortuante but did not effect our enjoyment. From the receptionist to all the staff they were exemplorary. Excellent experience

Excelente hotel, apesar do quarto de casal standard ser um pouco pequeno. Ótimo café da manhã, localizado dentro centro histórico da cidade. Estacionamento fácil nas proximidades, recomendo deixar a bagagem no hotel e depois estacionar o carro devido a escadaria que da acesso à cidade.

Fantastisch! Een super mooi authentiek hotel op een top locatie. Ontbijt is heerlijk maar vooral het personeel was super. Vanaf inchecken willen ze net even wat meer geven qua informatie etc.
Maar het hotel zelf is een plaatje! Zelden zo’n mooi hotel gehad, echt de Italiaanse beleving.

La dolce vita!!!

Magnifique séjour dans cette ville étrusque. Tout le personnel est avenant et souriant. Et que dire de Oksana qui est toute aussi merveilleuse avec son sourire, ses suggestions et ces petites attentions. Excellent séjour pour notre dolce vita!!!

Um sonho!

O hotel é simplesmente espetacular. O quarto é lindo, aconchegante, novo, bem decorado. Tudo com muito capricho. O café da manhã e dos deuses!!! Uma delicia! O melhor! O atendimento é muito cordial. O hotel é extremamente bem localizado. Só tenho elogios!
