Chambre à l’étage de la réception avec vue sur le parking arrière. Lumière ouverte la nuit, on voit les gens passer directement sur le parking si la fenêtre est ouverte, on a l’impression qu’ils sont dans la chambre. On aurait préféré une chambre vue montagnes, mais ils doivent privilégier les clients qui réservent directement avec eux et non avec Expedia !

Perfect terrace view

This hotel is very well done and sits on a hill with it's terrace overlooking the view. Everything you need is right in this place. The staff were so wonderful, the room was large and so comfortable. Both breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were delicious.

Overrated and overpriced

We booked a standard double room, which looked nice in the pic here. We got a dark bedroom under the roof with a tiny skylight plus a meeting room that had be turned into a lounge. It was big but soulless and depressing. We asked to change to a standard double but this was refused unless we paid 25% extra. Very rude receptionist who showed no customer service at all. Plus the bed had rubberised undersheets so it was like sleeping on a plastic bag. Don't waste your money. Stay elsewhere.

Due to easyJet delay of four hours from London we missed are train from Munich HBF to Berchtesgaden which meant we could not stay and lost out on hotel and train tickets staff were very helpful that night trying to work something out but it was not to be. but I stayed there previously and it it was excellent staff very helpful and accommodating and polite would definitely stay again

Nice hotel, great restaurant with included breakfasts as part of stay.
There was construction going on around the hotel which made parking in and outs a bit challenging
WiFi was terrible and kept dropping no matter which hotel site you connected to
Whilst irritating, I suppose the reason for being in Berchtesgaden is to take it all in. All in all I would recommend

A few ups and downs

While a good choice overall, we did have a few issues.

The room we were first given (#57) faced a parking lot with a light sensor, so every time there was movement, the lights flooded our room, making sleep difficult. This could be easily resolved with the installation of blackout curtains or some type of shutter.

The noise level in this room was also a problem, with early morning trash collection and snowplowing.

The entire ground floor was overly warm, necessitating us to sleep with the windows open (in December!) We noticed the front door wide open on a few occasions, evidently to cool the area near reception.

We asked to be moved, and were given room #61, which we declined, as it had the same light and noise issues - rooms 56-61 all face the parking lot.

We moved to room #117 on the first floor - we were charged an additional 10 Euro per night - a fair price for a good night's sleep, but interestingly enough, the higher priced room was actually smaller than those on the ground floor, as the space dedicated to the balcony (useless to us in December) was taken from the space of the room.

This hotel is located a steep walk up from town and a VERY steep walk up from the train station. We walk just about everywhere when we visit Europe, but we needed a taxi to get us and our luggage to/from the hotel from the train station.

Overall, we liked the hotel, and we had two very good meals in the restaurant.
Service was excellent.

Beautiful hotel in Berchtesgaden

My husband and I stayed here two nights in August. The hotel is a bit of a steep walk from town, but totally worth it. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. The breakfast was included and was a wonderful traditional European breakfast (cold cuts, boiled eggs, granola, and yogurt). The view from the breakfast lookout is fabulous. Overall great hotel!

Staff were welcoming and friendly, from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Everything (room, bar, restaurant) was good value for money.

The rooms were clean, though could do with a bit of an update. The wifi was extremely patchy.

Good location - about ten minutes walk to the railway station. It's a steep upwalk walk, so worth paying the €9 taxi fare if you've got cases. The free bus pass they gave us came in very useful.

In terms of friendliness and bang for your buck, the place can't be beaten. I would absolutely stay here again.

Horrible Customer Service!

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in September of 2015, during a ten day trip through Austria and Germany. Of all the hotels we stayed at through our trip (a total of 8) - this one provided by far the worse experience! The location was good, and the hotel room itself ok, but otherwise I can't say anything positive. Unfortunatly, this was a room that we had prepaid both nights, or we would have moved to a different hotel. We were put in a room in what felt like a basement corner. Their was no elevator to this level which made it great getting suitcases up and down the stairs was fun. Then we came to realize there was no wifi in the room - it was available, but to have access you had to stand right next to the door - if I tried to sit on the bed and check emails the signal would be gone. Obviously, that is not the end of the world, but the way that the staff handled by questions about it was by being rude, telling me \"It is only YOU that is having these issues\" and then proceeded to follow me down to my room to verify as if I was lying about it. Thinking I would have better luck with a different staff I asked the next day as well and was greeted with the same annoyance over having to deal with anything that required a little effort, or for them to put their cigarette down in the back room and help a customer. There was no mention of a solution or offer on a resolution, just it is what it is. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

EXTRAVAGANT FEEL a cheap price!

The hotel is located is an AWESOME spot on top of a hill and has the look and feel of a resort. It was a pleasant surprise to discover everything this hotel had to offer. Large restaurant, HUGE room and wonderful bathroom- all at a very affordable price. I truly felt like I was at a ski resort. The rooms have a very modern, luxurious feel to it. It is a hop away from the center of town by bus, or a 15-20 minute walk. Would definitely recommend it for a solo or family getaway.

If you arrive by train, the nice folks at the Tourist Information (across the roundabout) will show you on a map the pedestrian path shortcut to the hotel. It is, as other reviewers have noted, uphill.
Once you check in the hotel, they give you a tourist card that gives free local bus transportation (the nearest bus stop is a couple blocks from the hotel), but the local buses (839 and 841) are daytime-only, and only hourly, so one has to pay attention to the schedule.
Downhill, it took me 14 minutes (via the shortcut) to walk from the hotel to the train station. I did not time uphill!

Outstanding location! The hotel has a restaurant(upstairs) and bar(downstairs). Parking wasn't an issue. The staff was very helpful. The only issue was the room temp - there isn't any A/C (no one in the town has A/C - it's dead quiet at night) We just left the windows open and the room cooled off at night. The hotel is just above the downtown area - up the mountain. It would be a little bit of a hike if you didn't have a car. If you drive, there is plenty of parking downtown. There is underground parking by the visitor center.

Hotel is old, not well kept, dated, kind of loud, in not such a good area, does not look like in the pictures, personnel not very nice or accommodating. They Repaired a shower 3 rooms away banging for hours after they told us it will take 5 minutes. Refused to give us another room without 80 euros extra. English is not very well known. It is a 2 star plus, with indulgence definitely not a 4 star hotel.

Nice hotel, but room might not have a view

Room had no view- more on that below. Other than that, room was nice, shower had good pressure, breakfast was very good, location was great, bar downstairs was good, bartender was very friendly and gave great service, receptionist was very helpful and friendly, and the hotel was directly on a historic walkway above the town. The walk way gives some history of the area, some good views of town, and in general is a neat route to walk on your way to dinner in town. WiFi was a little slow but do-able, with good connectivity in our room.

No view issue: Apparently, on Hotels.com they only list the cheap rooms- ie rooms without a view. We were told upon arrival that for an additional 40 Euro per room they could upgrade us to a room with a view. I explained that the room we booked online appeared to have a view and that I felt mislead. The receptionist went to Hotels.com and saw that they only had the cheaper rooms listed, that it appeared to have a view, and agreed to give us one upgraded room without paying the additional fee, (we booked 2 rooms). So, a compromise was reached that worked out pretty well for us, but it was a bit of a hassle and certainly misleading. I didn't like showing up and finding out they expect us to pay an additional fee to get what we thought we'd already agreed to. Other than this issue, the hotel was great.

Berchtesgaden has an awesomely cute little Christmas market and this hotel was just a short 10 minute walk away! Excellent staff that took time to research our questions and give us amazing help! Christina made the stay with her caring, helpful attitude! Showers were hot with very good water pressure.

They tried to make it special for us

We had indicated in our reservation that this trip was for our 25th anniversary. They put a special bedcover on the bed and left a bottle of champagne. However, the smoky smell in the room was overwhelming; so we asked for another room. They moved us nextdoor. They did move the champagne to our new room but we lost out on the special bedcover by moving. We did appreciate their attempt at recognizing our anniversary, though. Room was small but adequate. Food, service and ambience in the restaurant was good at dinner and breakfast. Outstanding mushroom soup, salad bar with various salads, and wiener schnitzel at dinner. Full range of breakfast items. Would stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, but if we go back to Berchtesgaden, we may stay somewhere in the downtown. The walk to the Kronprinz was not that long, but it was uphill.

Almost good enough

There was much to like about this hotel, and yet I would choose somewhere else to stay if ever I go to Berchtesgaden again. The hotel offered WiFi throughout the facility, but the signal was strong enough in my room only in the toilet, and my cell phone was constantly losing the signal, requiring me to log in over and over again. Some parts of the hotel were served by an elevator, but our rooms were not, and we had to lug our bags down a flight of stairs into the basement. My room was spacious, though, and perfectly clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the view from the hotel restaurant's terrace was magnificent. We enjoyed the restaurant's food at the excellent complimentary breakfast and at dinner. There is limited parking outdoors in front of the restaurant, in addition to parking in an underground garage. It's hard to tell from hoteldotcom's photographs, but the hotel sits in a tightly-packed neighborhood on a steep hill overlooking the town. It's an easy walk into town, but not so easy coming back up the hill. So I guess the best I can say is that I didn't hate the place at all, but next time I would try to do better. And hey, you might just love it!

This hotel is beautiful, clean and with an excellent location. However, it seems that if you book through Hotels.com you will not get a prime room. Almost every room has a balcony, but we were shown a lower-level room with very limited views and no elevator to that floor. Frustrating to be in such a paradise and not enjoy it to the fullest. I recommend this hotel, but be sure to insist on a room with a view.

Great View - Great Value

We enjoyed the hotel. The restaurant and hotel grounds have a spectacular view of the mountains. Everyone was quite friendly and helpful and spoke very good English. Ample parking available. Would certainly stay here again if in the area. We drove into Salzburg one evening and it was about a 30 min drive.

Lovely hotel. Staff was wonderful especially font desk associates who were able to give us lots of information about surrounding area. We first checked in and had a room facing the car park and then went back to the front desk and inquired if there were any rooms at the front of the hotel. We ended up paying a little extra to have a room with a balcony and a view of the valley below which was spectacular!

This hotel is fabulous. Walking distance from downtown while still feeling in a private setting. The staff was wonderful. The room was fantastic, except for the limited TV service, but if you're watching tv you're truly missing out. the views are incredible and pictures can't do them justice. One of only a few hotels that I hated leaving. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and I'll probably return in the near future.

The hotel was terrific! The front desk helpful as I could not get on the Internet to check mail. Super breakfast buffet. That meal takes care of you the entire day. Decor and atmosphere tops! Berchtesgaden is so photogenic but not with low clouds and rain. This was unusual as it is sunny this time of year. Would definitely stay here again. A car is recommended to see everything as the town is on hills and is spread out.

Located close to town center and fabulous views to the mountains. As mentioned by others you must get and pay for a room facing the mountains. When we were there the temperatures were c. 33degrees C - there is NO air conditioning; fine in the Winter!! The decoration is a bit tired and the rooms are small but very clean and comfortable. The buffet dinner - we were late - is poor value for money. Breakfast - included - is ok. There are better hotels in the center but they lack the views and are more expensive.Fair.

Very nice hotel with beautiful view from our room. Room size was good and very clean with balcony. Restaurant, restaurant service was a bit slow and it must be said the size of the entre meal was extremely large. Breakfast was buffet and very nice. A very friendly hotel on the whole but did find reception persons somewhat cold and impersonal when we arrived. Unfortunately the hotel suffered an electrical blackout during our stay, but the staff did an excellent job of ensuring all guests were able to have breakfast.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay

The hotel is in a lovely location and has stunning views. The staff there are warm, welcoming and very attentive. The room was clean, comfortable and very well laid out and had a no smoking sign on the door. We had spoken to the hotel before our arrival and requested a non smoking room. The bed was really comfortable and spacious. We were situated at the back of the hotel with double aspect windows so it was lovely and bright. The bathroom was lovely and large and had a good shower. The restaurant had panoramic views and the food was excellent with generous portion sizes. Off of the restaurant is a terrace area so you can eat in or out or just simply relax out there and enjoy the views any time of the day and have a drink or afternoon tea and cake. We did not try the bar downstairs but will be on our next visit! We were given a bus pass for the duration of our stay which covers the local buses which was brilliant!

Not a place for the English speaking traveler.

The room was small, beds were small, but we did get a baclony room like we requested. We ate dinner there but the service was not very good. We walked through the restaurant and I made eye contact with a server. We decided to eat outside and sat there for 12 minutes before anyone came out to see us. The servers did not speak any English nor did the menus have subtext under the German descriptions in English. We made it through the ordering process with my basic German. The food was hot and delicious when it arrived.

Hiker's delight

The hotel staff was always friendly and helpful. The breakfast-dining room has a view of the area that cannot be beat. The buffet was always well supplied with a fantastic variety of foods, fresh and plentiful. It is a very difficult walk from the train station to the hotel. If you are older, I am 70, take a taxi from the train station. It is only @ 8 euro and well worth it. The hotel lends you a bus pass good for all city buses so getting around is very easy. BUT, you still have to climb up that hill from the bus stop. The hotel bar was super. Good food and great beer at very good prices.

My only complaints are, the light bulbs in the room were only 15 watt each and there were only four lamps. That made a very, very dim room. I had to stand by the open window during the day to read anything. My room was on the ground floor right next to the parking lot. So close that I could actually touch the car parked next to my room. At night, the headlights of the cars entering and departing the parking lot would light up my room, more than compensating for the 15 watt bulbs. There is a motion detector in the parking lot that turns on lights if any cars enter or leave or anybody of anything walks in the area. This would have been great if I were trying to read but NOT at 11 PM.

All in all, this is a nice hotel, BUT, do not get a room on the ground floor next to the parking lot!

Nice hotel, great bar!

The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the main area of town.
It was a little difficult finding it at first.
It looks beautiful from the outside.
Plenty parking outside & in the garage.
The reception was pleasant & easy.
The room was clean with TV & clean en-suit with shower.
Only problems with the room was - no kettle for tea & coffee and the double bed was two single beds pushed together.
The resteraunt is nice with stunning views.
Breakfast is plentiful, cold meats, cheese, rolls, pastries, cereal, fruit, hot sausage, bacon, eggs, toast & lots of tea & coffee - perfect start for the day!
Downstairs is the bar, the only bar we could find in town, which was visited frequently for nightime beer & schnapps. The food in the bar is great aswell.
Downside is the bar menu is not in English.
My wife is a vegetarian and so this was a problem, cheese salads & chips was her options, although the whole of south Germany is very much a meat eating & fur coat wearing place.
Everyone there was friendly.
A real nice hotel, could do with some modernisation in places, but perfectly quaint in typically bavarian.
A pleasure to stay for a week.
