First off the lady at the check in was not nice at all. The guy at the restaurant was extremely nice. Then my room was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING and small it was a room under a stairway straight out of harry potter. The room was covered in these black wing fly things. Like all over they didn't even spray the room before I came. I got there and they literally told me to spray it myself. I have asthma and I could not spray it before I slept. To be fair to them the location and the food was good. But the price of the room if I paid a little more I would have gotten a better hotel. The door to the room is a glass sliding good with a curtain if it is not closed anyone can see inside. The bathroom door is a sliding door that doesnt even work. So if I am sitting on the toilet and the curtains are open anyone can see straight inside. HONESTLY, for the money I paid it was not worth it and it was DISGUSTING! The size of the room i could have probablyh lived with even the not working bathroom dog and glass sliding door. BUT THE BLACK FLY BUGS THINGS !! THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE!

Had a wonderful 10 day stay at Chantauvent. Behind the hotel is Blue Bay beach, one of the best beaches in Mauritius. Great opportunity to snorkel and see marine life. Some decent restaurants nearby and airport is only 10 mins away. Staff were helpful and friendly and the room was in good condition

Amazing 4 days

We had room 6 with a bed and large enclosed patio with a clear view directly on to the sea. Couldn't be closer.
The ladies looked after reception, cleaning and dinner service very well. The chef's chicken curry really good. Pizzas at the cute Spot cafe in the garden room section of the complex are a must for anyone in the area.
The guy who controls watersports ewuipment very helpful.
4 given for condition as the sliding windows and patio entrance door of the seafront room we were in has been weathered, which is understandable. Nothing to put one off being there for that amazing position and at a reasonable price. Absolutely wonderful snorkelling within 5 metres of water directly in front. Bliss.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The place is infested with ticks and cockroaches, with stray cats living in the roof above the kitchen. The first night I was here I woke up in the middle of the night with my eye bleeding because a tick that had attached itself to my eye lid, from the bedding.

The room I stayed in had an ant infestation in the bathroom, there was black mould on the shower curtains and there were also giant cockroaches in the room. I asked for another room at checkin but was told this is what I’d paid for!

I tried to get help one evening after i found a massive cockroach, but this place closes at 9pm, and despite the website saying there is reception & security there was no one at all available. I phoned and text every number I could find, and rang doorbells, but you are completely on your own here between 9pm and 8am.

I also got sick after eating lunch here.

The manager and the director are both aggressive, and when I complained he asked me how I should fix his roof, or what other pest control I suggest he use, like this was my problem to fix. I was told as I’d booked a cheap room I got what I paid for!!!! And they wouldn’t refund me because I’d probably still write a bad review, like that’s the reason you should refund someone in this situation.

Speaking with some locals after I check out they alI confirmed it’s a super old hotel with many problems, don’t be fooled by the apparent charm of the pictures.

This is a fantastic little guest house. The location is in a quiet residential area on the beach. One side of the hotel (beach side) faces the Indian Ocean and, across the road, is the garden side. Both sides have their charms. The garden side is quieter than the beach side due to the sound of the strong winds from the ocean. This is a place for those who value calm, quiet, serenity and nature. The staff are incredibly kind and I felt very much at home. Karine (the manager), Wendy, Aurélie, and Nyoulian who work the reception were all very kind and accommodating. I have special dietary needs at breakfast and the cook made special food at no cost just for me.

A peaceful haven.

Welcoming staff and good service throughout. The room was spacious and light with fridge and simple kitchen facilities. The shower room was modern with plenty of hot water. The balcony was well used by us for morning and evening relaxing.
The views from our room were amazing - the bluest sky and sea and white coral sand. We were lucky to have a sea view room.
Chantevent has a pleasant garden on the entrance side with some sitting areas. The terrace on the beach side is shady in parts with loungers, tables and chairs and access too the beach.
We ate in the restaurant on our first night. There is a set Mauritian meal of three courses for 650rupees. We enjoyed a smoked marlin salad, dorade in a sweet and sour sauce and a banana split dessert. Breakfast is buffet style with a good variety of items.
Chantevent could do with a little attention such as a coat of paint but I recommend it for a peaceful stay with easy access to all that the south-east of Mauritius has to offer.

The hotel is on the beach. Blue Bay is great for snorkelling and the guesthouse can provide equipment. Staff are very helpful, caring and accommodating. This is a guesthouse, not a hotel, so don't expect hotel facilities or rooms. As a guesthouse it is outstanding. Great beachside location, comfy rooms, nice garden. I would certainly stay again. I felt it was good value for money. One thing to note, there is nowhere in Blue Bay to exchange money and there is no cashpoint. If staying here change money at the airport before you reach.

Cosy Guesthouse on the Beach

Great location right on the beach and in the South East of the island close to lots of snorkelling and other sights.
The ambience of this guesthouse is absolutely fantastic. Lovely gardens and cosy inside. Its name means the singing wind in French.
For the price this guesthouse has good amenities.
Seaview rooms are in the main building on the beach, with the restaurant in the middle. The other rooms are across the road. They have a nice garden and there is a pool over that side too. The food was good at the restaurant. Need to order before 4pm for 7pm dinner.
Unfortunately hot water wasn't always available in all of the rooms. We stayed there in July 2018, in winter and they said as the water was solar powered there wasn't enough sun to get hot water in all of the rooms. As no water at all came out of the hot water tap we think it was due to some maintenance / renovations that were happening elsewhere. As we had two rooms at any one time, we just all showered in the room that did have hot water.
The staff are very helpful and friendly.
Its 15 minutes from the airport so a great place to start and finish your trip, and very convenient for catching flights. You do hear the planes go over head but its only for a few seconds, maybe 3 times in the morning and 3 times in the evening. There are many more planes, not sure if they take a different route or we just didn' notice.

This was the worst hotel experience I have had in probably forever. Despite what many reviews say on travel sites, this place is a dump. The room was filthy. It smelled of mold, had ants everywhere, the shower backed up and the pipes burst. Also the beds were very comfortable, we had but one paper thin blanket to sleep with, and the towels were dirty, When we had called to change rooms, no one was there to answer and the front doors were locked up. I will give them the benefit of the doubt since it was 9 pm. Furthermore, breakfast was pretty gross. It included some week old browning fruit, warm milk for the cereal, and slices of bread. What a disappointment.

I would understand the poor maintenance if I was staying in a cheap hostel, but this is unacceptable for a hotel in the $100 upward range.

Lastly, I reached out to management 3 times about our stay and never received a reply. I realize this place is well-located and convenient, but I would pay a little more and get a place that cares about their reputation.

Can’t wait to back for longer in January!!

I was visiting my husband who is an ex-pat living and working on Mauritius, about 75 minutes north of Blue Bay. He had heard that is was one of the most spectacularly beautiful
parts of Mauritius. So off we went. We arrived after work so it was dark. We immediately wished that we had not shaved some time off at this special place. Francois greeted us at the door and put us in the room we had booked for our 30th wedding anniversary. It was Number Two. For being within a small guesthouse, #2 was ultra private. The bed was fabulous, the room had a kitchenette (we didn’t use) and private outdoor sitting area with our own view of the beach. We arrived at 7:50pm and by the time we got to the dining area, dinner was over. Our loss again. So we walked two doors down to a very large resort (which shall remain nameless so that this gets published) and had a super disappointing meal. Woke up for THE MOST AMAZING sunrise and had a great continental breakfast of tropical fruits, fresh breads, many choices of cereals, boiled eggs, and a deluxe coffee machine (so lattes and cappuccinos). I love this kind of place- it is run with such attention and care, I felt like an insider having chosen it. It was low key, had its own very little rocky beach. Steps away, a man was stationed to offer boat rides to the marine park for snorkeling. We did that (~500 rupees/person). We wished we had stayed both nights. We will definitely go back. If you don’t like large resorts, it is ideal for solos/couples

The only negative about the hotel is the planes as it is right under the flight path but they don't fly after about 21.00. There are only a couple of places to eat outside of the hotel and and both are expensive especially the little kiosk and the food is terrible but the restaurant is good.

We arrived at about 6pm and were expected. Our Garden Room was excellent, and breakfast the following morning was also good.

The wind direction meant that the aircraft flight path was directly over the guest house, so noise from aircraft taking off was loud, but as the airport practically closes down about 11pm, not a problem.

Highly recommend dinner (or lunch) at Le Bougainvilleir Restaurant, only a few metres from the Guesthouse. We had a great dinner and the total cost was about RS 1350 (about $50 Aust) for two, including drinks.

In this paradise place, the room quality was good, breakfast was good but not so diverse, the staff was very helpful and nothing bad to say apart from the fact that the location is near the airport and you hear the noise of the planes. Conclusion: great value.

Great value guest house near Blue Bay Beach

Excellent value guest house with rooms on both sides of the beach road. The garden rooms are cheaper and very quiet - just no sea view and across the street. Rooms have ceiling fans and AC, small fridge, kettle, hit water in the shower. The main beachfront part has great views of the sea and good beach walking - lots of rocks but plenty of sand also. Turn right on the beach to walk toward Blue Bay public beach.

I hesitated to book the breakfast but was glad I did - baguettes with cheese, fruit and fresh yogurt and granola, boiled eggs, real coffee, and all sitting with a view out to the sea. If you are starting early and have a car you can easily save the money on breakfast and eat in nearby Mahebourg. There are not many restaurants within easy walking distance - but it's worth a walk to \"Blue Bamboo\" for lunch or dinner.

The Blue Bay public beach is 3 min walk and is beautiful. Public buses pass frequently to take you to Mahebourg, which is definitely worth a visit - try \"Les Copains d'Abord\" restaurant there for lunch.

The only negative I had was that the neighborhood was experiencing power outages while I was there -- my 2nd night no power from 7 PM to 1 AM. Not the hotel's fault but just bad luck. Wish they had a small generator for those occasions. Highly recommended!

Relaxed stay with great snorkling at doorstep

Lovely guesthouse, good food, amazing snorkling in the crystal clear water right in front on the property. Travelled with a 4 year old who had a great time building sandcastles on the beach.

The pool was a good size to play in but a bit run down.

All in all just what we were hoping for.

The hotel never replied to my emails or my phone calls it was hard to contact them.
The room had a mildew smell and my room was overlooked for cleaning.
The front door was often locked at breakfast & there was no one to let me in so I had to wait till someone heard me knocking or saw me waiting. There was little around in the way of restaurants for dinner.

We booked this place for our first night, after arriving in the evening, because it was close to the airport. It is in fact only a few minutes from the airport. we arrived late and were awaited by the manager. Reception was average. The units we got were well appointed, clean and cozy. We had a basic kitchenette. The accommodation was not one block away from the beach (where a stray dog stole one of my flip-flops :)). A basic breakfast is served consisting of cereal, fruit, bread, cheese and pastries. The main house is on a rugged beach, and Blue Bay is just around the corner.

The highlight was walking out the back of the guesthouse and be snorkeling in coral within minutes - and the guesthouse provided the mask and snorkel for free. The continental breakfast buffet was also very good. The standard room with sea view was very comfortable and the quality matched the price. Overall very good value.

Acceptable if you can not find any other hotel

I spent there 1 night while travelling arround Mauritius. With the price I paied you can find much better place. My major imressions are: misgovernment, everage cleanliness, very basic room, too much resort rooms built at a really small area which means little privacy, almost no car park. For me acceptable but only for one night while on the road.

Well, it's cheap, but not cheap enough for what you get in my opinion. It may be ok for an overnight near to the airport, but it's still a 15 minute drive... so not that close. The place is getting kind of old and worn down. The included breakfast is pathetic. There was almost nothing in the \"studio\" room, including no tv, no cooker, no tea or coffee, no face towel, no phone, etc. There was literally 2 fork, spoon, knife in the kitchen, a few pots but no cooker? strange. Microwave saved the day. Couple of coffee cups and trash bins. Oh and there was a bed thank god. Bed was very hard. Beautiful view on the sea, and staff pleasant to deal with. There was also a kettle in the room, but again, no tea or coffee, sugar, creamer. Had to ask staff for a single tea bag for the next morning and they wanted to charge almost $2 for it. Finally they changed their mind about the charge, but really??

The surrounding neighborhood is nice, but it's a village so there is no supermarket nearby and only one Restaurant. The rooms are Nice, wifi is Bad.
Breakfast is unspectacular, some cereals, Marmelade, Toast and Fruit Salad. Eggs will be charged extra. There will also be a dog with its flees joining you at breakfast...The service is average, staff isn't that friendly and not very helpful, except one young guy named Etienne. The most positive aspect of our stay is propably the sea view while having breakfast and that blue beach is only two minutes walking distance!!

it's still just ok

this stay was better than the last one (2 weeks prior). Top marks to the happy and friendly staff. We had a different room and it was quite a bit nicer than the last one we had. Possibly it was newer (?) We at least had a hot shower unlike the last time. We were also allowed to leave our luggage in a vacant room for the entire day while we were out; even though we weren't staying another night. Dinner was actually pretty good. Breakfast was pretty average as it was the last time

Smiling and friendly staff to greet you on arrival. Rooms are spacious. It's right on the beach which is nice. Close to the airport but mills away from anything else. Breakfast was a let down- a bread roll with jam and a couple of pieces of fruit. This needs improving on.
No security for our luggage after having vacated our room to go for a walk. Overall ok if you're on a limited budget.

Séjour catastrophique. Douche inutilisable : pression faible, eau glaciale ou brûlante sans transition. Chambre collée au resto, donc odeurs de cuisine et musique à fond toute la journée. Matelas moyen, sol gondolé, et insonorisation inexistante — on entend tout des voisins.

Le seul point positif : l’emplacement, juste à côté de la plage.

Séjour agréable dans une guesthouse au bord du lagon avec accès direct à la mer. La plage publique est à 2 pas. L endroit est calme. Les chambres sont toutes différentes, la notre était spacieuse et lumineuse. Équipée d un frigo, bouilloire et micro ondes, café et thé ; par contre juste du savon pour se laver les mains, pas de gel douche ni shampooing. Le petit déjeuner est excessif pour la prestation.

Die Unterkunft ist deutlich in die Jahre gekommen, das wäre nicht so schlimm wenn die Sauberkeit dafür stimmen würde.
Was ich als sehr unangenehm empfunden habe war, dass drei sehr ungepflegte Hunde beim Essen rumspazierten. Sie saßen auch an den Tischen und haben gebettelt. Der eine Hund hatte lange Haare, total verfilzt und sämtliches Gestrüpp im Fell. Sehr unappetitlich

Die Unterkunft ist ok, und j ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen. Die Küche in meinem Zimmer war fürs Kochen nicht geeignet. Die Zimmer im hinteren Bereich sind eher durchschnittlich und relativ laut, vorne mit Meerblick gut. Die Terrasse ist gut mit direktem Zugang zum Meer, ein bisschen wenig Liegegelegenheiten. Zum Schnorcheln ganz ok, mehr auch nicht. Mein Fazit: gut für 2 Nächte, mehr nicht.

Einfache Anlage, direkt am Meer, in Flughafennähe

Zimmer mit tollem Meerblick, ältere Anlage in einfacher bis mittelmäßiger Ausstattung. Klimaanlage vorhanden. Anlage befindet sich in der Abflugschneise des Flughafens. Die Flugzeuge überfliegen das Guesthouse in einer Höhe von etwa 400 - 500m. Daher erhebliche Lärmbelästigung bei jedem Flugzeugstart (wenn, wie überwiegend, Richtung Osten gestartet wird). Wir haben das Zimmer nur für die letzte Nacht genutzt, um eine kurze Anfahrt (ca. 15 Minuten) zum Flughafen am frühen Morgen zu haben.

Das Hotel ist rustikal aber dafür sehr gemütlich. Es ist keine Schickimicki Unterkunft, dafür sehr authentisch und sehr sehr freundlich! Die Preise sind sehr fair und das Essen schmeckt sehr gut!

Nous n’avons pas eu d’eau chaude durant notre séjour!!! Juanito a gentiment trouvé une solution pour un soir mais nous trouvons cela inacceptable au prix que ça coûte! Seule compensation des boissons offertes mais nous sommes en hiver et ce n’est pas du tout agréable de se laver à L’eau froide après une journée à la plage…

Les photos sont trompeuses!! pas mal de travaux en cours et tout est vieillissant! manque cruellement d’entretien que ce soit dans la chambre ou à l’extérieur. Dans son jus!

Un grand merci au chef Hansley repas très bon et copieux . Petit déjeuner correcte mais peut mieux faire pas assez de choix.

Le spot café est sympa on peut y manger et boire durant la journée (snack) mais les soirées sont un peu bruyantes. Merci à Daren!

La plage de Blue bay juste magnifique! Le parc marin une belle découverte!
John et Kavi les chauffeurs de taxi devant l’hôtel sont super sympas!

Agréable séjour mais nous nous attendions à mieux au niveau du l’hébergement le Chantevent…quel dommage!

På det hela taget ett bra och trevligt boende med fantastiskt läge nära strand och marin park samt nära flygplatsen.
Rent och fräscht rum.
Hjälpsam men lite förvirrad och rörig receptionspersonal.
Bra frukost.

Sehr freundliches Personal und schöne Umgebung. Leider ist das Guesthouse etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Mein Zimmer war etwas kühl eingerichtet und ich habe mich nicht richtig wohl gefühlt. Leider hatte es in meinem Zimmer sehr modrig gerochen auch die Handtücher hatten diesen Geruch. Ein Haartrockner wäre ganz gut, da durch die Feuchtigkeit so gut wie nichts trocknet.
Die Unterkunft hat super Potenzial, hoffe es wird genutzt ;-) Das Frühstück wurde mit Liebe zubereitet, jedoch empfand ich den Preis hierfür etwas hoch. Die Unterkunft liegt super praktisch direkt am Strand und am Flughafen. Der Preis für die Übernachtung war ganz gut.

Basic, near fine beach, airplane noise

Very basic and small rooms, no TV. But the setting was fine.
Irritating with planes flying directly overhead starting or landing at the airport: nowhere are you informed about that!
Public beach closeby is very good.

Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und die Lage der Unterkunft ist super. Der Strand vor dem Guesthouse eignet sich hervorragend zum schnorcheln. Auch das Abendessen im Haus war sehr gut. Beim Frühstück gibt es Verbesserungspotential. Es ist ein Traum, hier auf der Terrasse zu sitzen und aufs Meer zu schauen.

Face à la mer, une route à traverser,pour se baigner ,un masque, un tuba et on est dans un aquarium.
Mais il n’y a que ça à faire…si on n’aime pas trop la mer, il vaut mieux éviter. La cuisine du soir est répétitive. Dîner à 19h…
Tout est assez vétuste, mais tout fonctionne ! Même la Clim.
Lunette des toilettes cassée et recollée.. plaque de cuisson datant des années 60. Le personnel est charmant et aux petits soins. Il y a des oiseaux qui vous mangent dans la main .
Si on est pas exigeant sur le confort c’est le paradis.

Sehr sympathische schöne Unterkunft. Total naturverbunden mit vielen Bäumen, Blumen auf der Terasse und man blickt direkt auf das Meer. Das Personal ist super lieb und zuvorkommend. Wir fühlten uns wie im Mauritius Paradies angekommenen. Ich empfehle ein Zimmer mit Meerblick. Wir waren 10 Tage hier, haben von dort viel unternommenen und genauso waren wir viele Tage einfach in dieser schönen Unterkunft und haben es dort genossen. Ganz klare Empfehlung für diejenigen denen das Ambiente wichtiger ist als ein klassisches Hotel.
