Pool is heated and has a great view. Staff super friendly and collaborative. Good place to stay. Milnerton beach is steps away and you can find coffee shops and restaurants. It has covered parking. Familiar friendly

I read some bad reviews before coming out but cannot understand any of them really. The hotel is brilliantly situated, always kept spotless and despite the odd tiny detail pretty modern and well kept with great friendly staff. I stayed for ten nights and the only complaint I have is that there was an atrium outside of my room where they held conferences in the daytime that got pretty noisy but that was only an issue because I was still in bed at 2pm with a hangover rather than on the beach or out enjoying the sights. Honestly can’t fault the place 10/10

Overall, I was underwhelmed by my stay at this hotel, which is unfortunate because if not for my bad experiences with staff, I would stay here again.
The cons: The staff at this hotel discriminates against their guest according to skin color. This is said not on the basis of 1 experience but several. As a young woman traveling alone, I shouldn't expect anything less than decorum from the male staff there and the receptionist. They offer preferential treatment to their white guests and disrespect single traveling women of color and strange because …. The staff are also people of color. Single women take caution at this hotel. I was disrespected twice by the front door staff. The shuttle driver would not let me on the shuttle after letting the white guests on because “I needed my name on the list” yet he had no idea if I was on the list or not. As I tried to get on, he’d dance around me to block me from entering. I was then told by one of them that “the hotel doesn’t let just anyone on the bus”. I was also looked at inappropriately by the doorman.

The perks are that you are right next to a majestic beach, the restaurants inside the hotel offer you a beautiful view of the ocean and the sunset, the waiters and chefs and very kind. The food (esp. breakfast) is very good but the cost for breakfast was a rip-off. When I purchased my reservation, I was told breakfast would be $8 or about 120 rands at the time, when I went to breakfast, they charged me $18 or 300 rands instead.

First let me say, the staff here are lovely and very professional, however this hotel is far from a 4 star. I checked in and found ROACHES (several) in by bathroom, and the AC was not working in several of the rooms I was moved to. I had to change rooms 3x before finding one acceptable. Room service is subpar, and i found my bed sheets had stains when they would change the bed. This hotel needs renovation badly. I gave 2 stars because the staff was really nice otherwise it’s a 0. Will not be booking here again.

Hotel location is 20 min from V&A waterfront but they provide shuttle transport couple of times between 9:00 - 21:00

beach is public and not private to hotel visitors
swimming pools at hotel are not big and the wood ground around the pool need maintenance.
entertainers are not available for evening show
for tours i recommend red/blue bus with premium explorer package as it includes lot of entry tickets.
table mountain please only with fast track ticket.
you need special power plug in cape town but you can purchase from V&A waterfront shopping for 170 zar.
cape agulhas is the two oceans point.
gordon beach is beautiful for swimming.

Great staff, proper amenities, good food and variety of selection for breakfast.
Had some plumbing issues, but was addressed immediately. We stayed for 6 nights and some days room cleaning are done in a hurry and some details were missed, but not really a big deal for us.
Some nights were too noisy outside the hotel and disturbing sleep specially after a long day.
Overall we have enjoyed our stay at the hotel and Cape Town in general. I would recommend the place.

Clean room. Food from restaurant and room service was good. The hotel itself looks old and outdated (carpet, walls, shower floor), but the room was comfortable. The room was over the conference room, which had a party the last night of the stay, but was very quiet throughout the beginning of the stay. Staff was polite and the drive to the attractions was reasonable.

What a lovely stay. The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking a peaceful beach and the ocean. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and took care of me during my stay. The bar and restaurant staff, transport desk, reception staff were all great and made my stay one to remember. I would like to particularly thank the lovely Sonia who looked after me everyday at breakast time, and the spa manager who was also super friendly and helped me during my stay. Thank you all. The properties is farther from downtown than appears. The bus takes approximately 45min to the waterfront. Uber is the only other option to get into town. Overall the property is dated and not well maintained. The beds were very hard and the room had several broken/dirty things including the towel racks, the soap rack in the shower, the lamp shades, and mold along the upper tile lining in the shower. The fan in the bathroom also did not work.

The staff however are excellent! Everyone was very friendly and willing to help. It felt special to have people remember you when you got back from a day out and ask how you were.

I do not recommend this property, my daughter and I arrived early evening and to check in they unlocked the door and locked it behind you. This did not give you a feeling of a security. Then we needed to park our rental and a man from inside insisted that he wanted to drive us in our vehicle to the parking lot, we let him in the car but not drive. Highly unusual! Then once inside the room there was no air conditioning or fan blowing, we brought this to their attention and the said give it one hour. We contacted them again, they sent someone and said it was broken. They then called our room and offered to change rooms, we did and the second rooms air conditioning wasn’t working, but the blower worked. At this time it was late in the evening and we had no choice but to stay the night. The rooms were not clean, there was dirt and oil on the headboard and large metallic spangles in the shower. We left early the next morning and after our excursion found another hotel in a safe area and called Expedia to help get a refund. I spoke with the hotel about the refund and they said I had to go through Expedia, and Expedia originally offered a $50 credit and I insisted on getting half of what we paid back. Ultimately, we received half of the money back, The original stay was $360 for two days, at what was called a Luxury Spa Hotel. No pool in site when we arrived and I would not consider the area safe, overall it was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and highly overpriced.

While the property was located on a beautiful beach the hotel infrastructure was definitely outdated but very clean. Food service staff was horrible, dealt with some racism and ordered food that never was received. Property staff was great, but the service workers were not the best. Our toilet had some issues, and rooms very clean but very outdated appliances

The service at reception is terrible- you call them from the room they never pick up - the family suites are extremely small for 4 people and at a cost of over 4000 very expensive- bar staff are very good - did one set of laundry was 1300 for a few items - complete rip off - we do whole bag for 400 in the laundry in the strand - completely over priced- your spa is also completely over priced at nearly 1000 for nails ? It’s 500 in joburg ?

The property is old! Needs new furniture. Staff is nice and polite, especially the restaurants. The food was excellent, although choice is limited. The travel desk is money hungry. They want to charge R280 for the same adapter for around R50 in the U.S. And most hotels don’t demand that you buy the adapter, either. They charge a trip for $10.0 US that Uber charged around $7.00 US. In addition, one needs a reservation in advance.

Firstly the 2 bed apt we were offered was on the ground floor and wasn’t full sea view also the safety box wasn’t working and there were bugs in the room. We asked to be moved to a higher floor that was granted and everything worked. We were very disappointed to learn the V&A shuttles were not regular so we had to get taxis adding to the cost

Staff were very friendly and really helpful. Breakfast was really good and there were lots of different options available.
However, the hotel was quite busy when we checked in, and as a result it was noisy even during late evening as people were walking past our room, etc. There was also construction taking place, which would have been nice to know upfront so as to manage expectations. There were cigarette remnants and a discarded bottle of alcohol on our balcony which was never removed. Bottles of drinking water were provided, but tasted smoky. Overall, it was conveniently located and an average stay.

They are in the middle of a remodel, so the days were noisy. No warning about the remodel. Lower pool and one restaurant being overhauled. They did change a poor room initially, but miscommunicated the late check out fee. 250Rand per hour was charged, not total as verbally stated to me the day before. The room was spotless daily and many staff members were wonderful.

The views from this hotel are absolutely stunning. I recommend the ocean view room, as it has views of the mountains as well. This room is what made my stay here so perfect. If you want easy walking to restaurants and waterfront, this is not for you. But if you are happy to take extremely cheap Ubers to places, please treat yourself to this beautiful hotel. The views from the pool is stunning as well. I personally didn’t regret not including breakfast to my booking, as the other on site restaurant offered cheaper breakfast prices and in my opinion tastier (as I did pay for the breakfast buffet one morning).

Very nice hotel although I had to switch rooms as the patio door didn’t close and it was over the front entrance so was very noisy.

The beds are lumpy, we made the bed ourselves and could not get rid of the lumps. I was assured on arrival that I would not be required to change rooms ( i had a 3 night booking but later added 2 extra nihhts) if i paid for an upgrade, which i paid, however after 2 nights they insisted we change rooms. No body seemed interested that we had been lied too. A waste of money paying upgrade.

I had booked 3 nights , but added 2 nights to this. When we arrived the lady on reception said that different room types were booked, so if we paid to upgrade we we could stay in the same room for our whole stay. However after 2 nights they insisted we changed rooms. A total waste of money. I Didn't what to change rooms i wanted to be in the same room for 5 nights.
Didnt bother me if i had seaview or not, just did not want to change rooms. Crazy.

Not sure how the apartments made the grade of ****. It is in dire need of a renovation.
Bathroom counter and tiles in the shower were cracked. Mildew in the shower. Bedroom walls were dirty and cupboard was damaged.
2 mismatched bar stools in the kitchen.

Pools not heated and water was very cold.

Free shuttle does not have the hotel logo and even though we were early waiting for the shuttle at the V&A waterfront we missed it as we didnt realise it was the hotel shuttle.

My sister stayed at the hotel and she recieved a personalised welcome card and a biltong and nuts tray(she couldn't eat it as it was not halaal). We did not receive the same at the apartments - sharing this to highlight the different experiences at the hotel vs apartments.

No back up power at apartment and no aircon.

The property is right ON the beach. It’s got a very island-y feel to it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Sammy and Asanda were exceptionally hospitable and went above and beyond their duties. The apartment room we stayed in was nice and clean. The master bathroom has some detailing that needed to be handled and the load shedding was a little challenging as they didn’t provide lanterns or flashlights. The main hotel did have lights during those times. There were noise in the middle of the night from the hallways.

The room must have been recently refurbished, as it looked very neat and clean. Laminated floors. etc. etc.
There was a few small niggles.
The toilet didn't flush and only ran slowly when flushed. Then the switch got stuck and kept running
The shower door opens into the shower, getting the door and floor wet when you want to get in. Sure it should open outwards.
Lastly, the generator was right outside the window, and the noise woke me up.

Other than that a very nice place.

They totally mislead on their website about their services. They present a full room service menu - which in fact they don't have. They have a. very limited menu (mostly appetizer/fast food style) that's delivered in take out containers. You can physically go to one of their restaurants and order off that menu - which you then take to your room yourself. Thats NOT room Service. If I can do that, why cant they????? When you mislead to attract customers, you turn them away forever.

The beach was disgusting as it was littered from all the trash from the ocean. Trash pickers combed the beach looking for re-usable items. The ocean water was brown like sewer water. The hotel was nice, staff was great, but the beachfront is not worth booking a stay for if that's what you would like. Our stay was in July--maybe the beach is different at another time of the year.
