I have to admit that the hotel have an easy access to the restaurant and the market and the reviews of the riverfront. But they do need to remodel the room it’s too over dated. Especially the lizard crawling on the ceiling at night time the shower system is also over dated especially with the hot water. You have to turn on the water heater to get the hot water for the water for the shower which I’m not use to. But the staff is very nice.

Disappointed - old facility, low quality of meals

I had stayed there 7-8 years ago and came back first time last month (March 2023). It was bad as it's overpriced compared with the quality of facility (room remained old and no sufficient hot water for having bath, etc.) and services (breakfast is one of the worst one among hotels with this price range). Staff service is okay, but overall I was disappointed. I will not come back there unless their management is changed.

I do NOT like being charged for a cracked glass which i noticed in the bathroom and placed it in the kitchen. Noticed it when we came back after room had been made up. It is not the cost but the principle of being charged for something that i DID NOT do.
Room is fine but please do not charge people for your staff 's error, most off putting. That's one good reason for NOT RECOMMENDING others as they may be charged randomly too....

Was not impressed, the rooms were dated. Fans in the washroom did not work, outlets malfunctioned causing a blackout. The breakfast buffet was ok, nothing fancy, service was slow. Had to ask for the toaster and coffee.

The location of the Himawari makes a visit to Phnom Penh a unique experience. Watching the sunrise over the Mekong and strolling along the river walk in the early morning allows you to see the city come alive. It also gives you a view of all the boat traffic from small fishing boats to ferry boats. The hotel has kitchen facilities and multi bedroom units which are great for families. The included breakfast is fantastic with an incredible variety of international foods. The pool is a wonderful place to relax and swim.

A grand place to stay

Our stay was great. Location is perfect. It is on the river with a grand river walk that we took daily.
All the staff aim to please. Great breakfast, Generously sized apartments that beat any hotel room we have ever stayed in. We will be back

This hotel was our second choice after the first one cancelled on us two days before we arrived. during iour four night stay A large wedding took place on two days, which virtually occupied the lobby of the hotel each time and it’s grounds. The hotel is nicely situated on the banks of the river, everything is within easy distance.

The hotel is a little tired with its interior furnishings,, and needs a lit5le tlc to bring it up to standard, ie curtains, bedding and carpets, bathroom also needs some maintenance

Don't stay here you will be disappointed.

They ran out of red wine and a lot of the food on the menu was not available. The staff was very nice but slow because they were short of staff. I use to stay here often and have not seen it bad like this, definitely in need of new management. It was also dirty and unkept compared to what it use to be.

I always love the Himawari

The Himawari is an amazing place on the River Walk and within reasonable distance to many business and tourist landmarks (like the Royal Palace). It is a peaceful and gracious place, and the staff make the Himawari a special place to stay.

The studios, one and two bedrooms have a complete kitchen to help you on those business days that turn into nights, and the room service is excellent.

In the past, Wi-Fi was a problem, but this has been resolved since my last visit by a transmitter in my room. The staff have always been excellent, and continue in this tradition. They make it a comfortable home away from home.

Room service waiter great. Food deplorable. Half the meal was incorrect. And awful. Buffalo wings with catsup instead of sauce. Not close to advdrtised. Ceaser salad not even close.
The worst part is that i spoke to kitchen manager and his assistant and nothing. They did nothing. A $200.00 night was made terrible by such lousey food.

Had to wait 40 minutes at the reception because according to the hotel, Orbitz has not informed them of by booking. Since my booking has been fully paid, they reluctantly gave me a room.

A decent day

The hotel being not new I was not expecting much but it was less than what I expected. They gave me a room where you have to slam the door each time you opened and closed. You need to tell everyone you were going out and also when you are getting back.
Then come the shower, the shower head fell apart when I have to make an adjustment. So I call the maintenance people, the guy came. Instead of getting on the job he went ahead and try to teach me how to use the tap. It spoiled my day totally. I told to shut his gap and get the job I have been to many hotels and see almost all the taps that there are. Location is good, there were many eateries all about. We had a nice evening walk by the river.

nice hotel but rooms are getting old

it was ok to return to Himawari. I went there for the first time in 2011 and since then, nothing has changed in the room. The wear and tear are now clearly visible.
Nevetheless, it is still on OK place but for how long ?

okay hotel but plenty of room for improvement

We booked a 2 bedroom (1 king and 2 single beds) for 4 people, but was told upon arrival that that room type catered to only 3 people max. Ended up having to pay an extra USD 30 for the 4th person, which we thought was rather scam-ish. Apart from that the room size was good with strong wifi. Gym and pool facilities were great. FD supervisor was meticulous but the other service staff could do with more training to improve their service level.

Conveniently located Hotel

The hotel is located on the riverside giving access to the path along the river away from the traffic. About a 10 minute walk to some bars and restaurants. Good craft beer from their own micro brewery but the service can be slow and the prices are high. Staff were accommodating and generally friendly. Breakfast had quite a wide selection of items and started early enough for an early flight out of Phom Penh. The hotel caters for several functions, weddings, parties, etc. which can make it a bit noisy although not too late into the evening. Overall, quite a good hotel but a little over priced for Phom Penh.

Overpriced and old hotel, but with great service

The staff was very friendly and helpful, but nothing else met my expectations. The hotel is really old, the Internet did not work well, breakfast and meals were not good and the room, apart from being large, was not that great. It was certainly overpriced for what it offers.

It's tired

Over the years I have stayed here many times.it is now a very tired hotel. Lots of staff but no service. They are more interested in socializing. Menus are repetitive. It's very much overpriced for what it is.

This hotel trades on its name, I have stayed here many times however I must say they are complacement. If they trade under a four star luxury hotel they need to employ English speaking staff who understand guests needs (dont mislead and give incorrect information) . The breakfast food is cold the staff wonder around (spring rolls bacon) . Young children residents screaming daily making for a poor enviroment. They argued regarding my payment details 3 hours and even then they told me to come back. I had my copy of details and also a copy of my bank statement. I do not like to complain however this is necessary to improve customer service and public relations.

Ended up with a 1st floor room as hotel was booked solid. Had a view of the tennis court at eye level. See pic. No other room available and although technically a river view room, I could only see it through the chain link fence surrounding the tennis court. Older over head style AC which was very loud. Bathroom needs an upgrade and beds were rock hard. Buffet breakfast was awful! Lacked selection and bread (white only) was stale. Location was good and staff member Lann who tried to help me find a better room was very helpful. Rooms are large and have a small kitchenette and fully stocked minibar. Would only stay here again if under $100 per night.

Nice suite, shame about the breakfast !

Impressive layout and Receptipn, just a pity no-one bothered to meet and greet me when I came in . Got the feeling if I had arrived in a Merc or Audi I may have commanded a little more attention!
The check- in procedure felt a little like Passport Control I.e. Not very friendly!
Nice room/ suite but then I expect that for the money paid! Only prob being I noted they did not replace the fruit or set up the cups after use day one. Bed not done very well either if truth be told!
Breakfast a real let down for a Hotel that looks so impressive. Very basic and not very welcoming staff !
Only the fact that I got it on a good deal makes it possibly worth the money!?
Too many Hotels like this, think they are better than they are because of what they charge!

Great location on the river

We had three nights here and had a lovely visit. The view of the river was excellent, the apartment was spacious and clean and the breakfast was extensive and well presented. When going out it was close enough to walk to many locations, or we could get a tuk- tuk easily. Staff were helpful and friendly and we loved the fact that the foyer was open and airy and not air conditioned and closed off to the world.

Hotel and facilities were fine, as was service. Spacious room and nice to have a balcony. One disappointment was the incredibly loud noise made when turning on the taps. Not really a problem until your neighbour takes a shower early in the morning and it wakes you up. Moved rooms to try and resolve the issue but it seems the hotel is plagued with inordinately loud plumbing! Which is a shame because otherwise it was a reasonable hotel.

Anonymous business hotel without any flair

This is an anonymous hotel without any Southeast Asian or Phnom Penh flair, or personal touch. It could be anywhere on the planet. As a guest you remain a number here (although I stayed for a full week.) The front desk staff is unpleasant and unprofessional: Check your final invoice, they tried charging me with other peoples drink bills. Bar tenders don't know how to prepare the simplest cocktails.The cleaning staff works very hard. Breakfast buffet is very good, rooms are spacious and comfortable, bathrooms are outdated and have bad lighting. Each room has a spacious balcony but no furniture to use it. Poor thinking. Items where stolen out of a pouch on the motorcycle from their \"secured parking\". Not recommended, unless you are a Chinese/Korean/Vietnamese business man staying for one night. The Expedia surcharge on the hotel price is not acceptable. I will never book and pay through Expedia again.

Safe and Clean in Phnom Phen

There's nothing fancy about this hotel, but for the surrounding area in the middle of this city, you feel you’re in a safe and in a clean environment. We got the Executive room with 2 BR’s. It was huge and had very nice old fashion wooden furniture. Breakfast buffet was included and was pretty good. Dinner buffet was kind of pricey and not so great. The best part of this hotel was the staff, they all were extremely kind, and you really felt the need to tip them. Would stay again.

I extended my stay because I was so happy with the service. I was looked after from the time I arrived until the moment I left. Staff saw to every detail - nothing was too much trouble. The up grade to a two bedroom apartment was a good introduction to my holiday. The feather pillows got me in!

nice location but the rooms facing the street are extremely noisy. the windows are too old for proper isolation from the city noise.
if you have the unpredictable chance to have a room on the the right side of the building, then you will enjoy your stay.
unfortunately, being a guest for many years, this is a very rare event, because the good rooms are mostly occupied by long-term residents.

Great for families and tourists.

We stayed in one of their 2-bedroom suites, which had one room with a king bed and another room with two twin beds. The living area, kitchen, and bathrooms were nice and even included a washer/dryer for your laundry.

The hotel facilities were also very nice with their pool, spa, gym, and restaurant. My wife enjoyed a massage and we rented a hotel car and driver to visit the Killing Fields monument, both at vey good prices.

Hotel staff are approachable n helpful. But the room lightings go black out 1-2 days of our stay n it is out of expectation...Bathroom shower the water flow is inconsistency. Toilet flushing systems is noisy n take long time the noise to stop. Certain day need to ask plumber to check the Flushing tank.

Not a pleasant stay...the apartment is not up to its 4 star claimed standard. They gave us an occupied room at first. Very embarassing moment when you walked into a room and there were other occupant there. The hotel gave us another room, no occupant this time which was great but air cons in both of the bedrooms broke in the middle of the night...strike two! They relocated us to yet another room (supposedly the best available room) but again it failed to impress. One of the air con leaked :( ....strike 3!

Shame about the Funeral

The hotel would have been in a good location on the riverside and close to the grand palace however because of the King's funeral all the roads around the hotel were blocked off for 6 days! It was not possible to get near our hotel on some days. The front of house staff had very little English and even less knowledge about what was happening or which restaurants / attractions were open or where to find anything. The maids and breakfast staff however were fantastic and tried very hard to help guests enjoy their stay. Our air-con unit was faulty and took two days to repair which when the temperature is 35C makes the room very uncomfortable and sleep almost immpossible. The plumbing was also not up to modern day standards with the trickle of water from the shower head often changing from cold to scalding hot at random.

Not an enjoyable hotel...but location was good

This hotel seems to have really great reviews, maybe I just had a bad experience? The pictures look nice, but the hotel was dated. Lobby was nice & security was good. I usually don't complain about much, but this was my least favourite stay

FRONT DESK: the guy that checked us in was rude & unfriendly (everyone else was very nice). We were told our suite included a washer/dryer (which is why we booked). When we arrived they wanted to charge $155 extra. We arrived at 5:30pm & our room still wasn't ready & had to wait an hour :(

ROOM: the only good thing was it was huge & had a full kitchenette (appliances were old). Decor was dated & the floor was damaged. The bed was SO hard & pillows were awful. Water pressure was terrible...having a shower was frustrating becuase the pressure kept switching from extremely hard to a trickle every 5 seconds. The room & bathroom weren't clean. Sheets were thin & had holes in them. We requested a river-view room, but the one we got faced the busy street so we were woken up all night with horns beeping & people yelling

POOL: was nice & there were lots of loungers

RESTAURANT: breakfast was good & there were lots of options

LOCATION: this was the best part about the hotel. It's right on the river & within walking distance to lots of restaurants & shops. It's a nice walk along the river & there's lots of activity around. The Royal Palace is a 5min walk. Its a 30 min cab ride to the airport & costs $9 USD

We would not stay at this hotel again
