Didn't have fitted sheets, Alien travelers blaring hispanic music loudly outside till midnight. What mattered was shower was clean, two flat sheets on bed were clean. No rug or carpet but floor was clean. Loud train blaring horn at night is right next door. Again music next door in the morning, I could hear there conversation and laugh through the wall.

A very comfortable old-school motel in downtown Gilroy. Nothing fancy, but you don't choose a motel for that purpose, and it was quiet despite being on the main road. Check-in was very efficient and the gentleman let us check in early. Soap was provided but not shampoo, so bring your own. Fantastic restaurant, Longhouse, located next door - wide variety menu of down home food with hearty portions at very reasonable prices. Would definitely stay here again.

They were never in the office. I had a ring the doorbell so many times and wait until someone came out. I never got a receipt. I felt like every time we asked for something it was so inconvenient. I only had one towel in the room go get more towels I had to go get an iron, and they were never in the office. One of the beds was so dirty and smell like pee. It was horrible.

I loved staying here! I needed a little vacation for a few days so the Kings Rest was a good pick. The owner man working the front desk was very kind. I had read some reviews before & they had said it was dirty but I don’t agree. It was very clean & my expectations were met. Yes you can hear people but that is only if they’re loud! If you turn on the AC/Heater you’ll be just fine. I would love to stay here again!

I can not make this stuff up. I showed up to check into my room & it was a disaster. The 1st room she gave me a key to smelled so bad. With all due respect it smelled like a homeless person had lived there for months. I couldn’t last 1 minute in that room before requesting another room. I don’t know why she would just try to pawn a smelly room on to me but I wasn’t having that. So I requested another room and then she gives me a key to a room where a couple is literally sleeping in the bed. That was too much. Now I had all my red flag sensors on. I would have found a different place there but I had already been billed so I proceeded to find a room for my short stay. At last, she gives me the key to the room right in the middle of the 2 rooms from before & it is a normal small motel room. I went on to go to work as a filmmaker and the whole time I was working I was wondering whether someone might have accidentally received a key to my room and stole all of my stuff or my clothes. I will not return & this place gets 2 thumbs down from me.

The room was dirty when we arrived. Trash was not emptied and there was empty beer cans in the refrigerator. Towels had some big holes in them. There are no lamps so you have to keep the ceiling light on. You have to pay to use the ice machine.
The beds were comfortable. Location is close to many things so that was nice!

Unfortunately, there was a chair in the room with food and grease on it. I called the front desk and they took care of it immediately, however it made me uncomfortable about what else might be dirty in there. Also, not the motel's fault, but there was a screaming child right next door to me that wouldn't stop yelling and crying at 8am; he was in complete crisis mode, and I'm not sure if anything was done about that.

We really enjoyed our stay at Kings Rest. It was clean with hard floors instead of carpet. They provided extra pillows on request. Recently renovated bathroom. They didn't provide shampoo and conditioner, but we had our own. Fridge and microwave! And a great diner next door. We stayed here a single night to be closer to the Renaissance Faire in Hollister. Would stay again.

I'm surprised about all the positive reviews about this place. When I stay in motels like this I only want two things - a shower and a bed. Unfortunately this place did not deliver on either of these things. Yes, there was an actual shower and bed, but they were both disgusting. Half the towels were so stained it looked like a mechanic's old rags, and the other half had hair all over it. The bed sheets were dirty (dirt and crumbs in them) and stained, and the bed was so uncomfortable. It's also very loud and I could hear cars throughout the night. This place was disgusting and I would suggest finding a different place.

Queen room was really a small room with a Full size bed. Bed was extremely uncomfortable. I ended up with a lot of back pain. Toilet was crammed into a narrow, uncomfortable alcove in the bathroom. Walls are thin with little sound insulation. There were stains on the comforter.

The only downside to our room was that there was no lock on the bathroom, the shower was a little cramped, and they didn’t have any “do not disturb” signs to put on the door, but other than that, it was a really nice stay! The employees were very nice and eager to assist, and for the price, it was great! The beds might be a little stiff for some, but I thought they were fine. Everything was quite clean! If I had to stay here again, I absolutely would!

Staff was very nice, but the clientele staying were insanely loud and rude. One person knocked on our door whistling \"Linda are you in there\" then kept knocking on other doors until they found Linda.

We arrived late and were very exhausted from driving and awoken several times. We checked out early since there was no possibility of getting the sleep we needed.

there was no dresser drawer to put clothes, no closet,bathroom very small,everything on a timer light would go off/on at anytime, heater would come on for 1min, turn off would not come back 45min, bar across street, about 130am, people would party in and on the street till 230am or more,running across street in to motel parking lot, would like to have some type of refund do to our experience, it was raining and they were still partying in the street! ALL IN ALL AWFUL!!!

I think the main reason I liked this property so much is because I really liked the owners. KK & his wife were the coolest! 😎. They are very kind and caring people and you can feel that they truly care about their guests and that made me feel safe and I was able to get a really good rest there. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean and the grounds were well kept and had pretty flower beds at each pillar of the building. There was a pretty good restaurant right next store that I walked over to when I got hungry. There is ample parking and you can park directly outside of your room (which I thought was great). All in all I recommend this motel to anyone in the Gilroy area in need of a basic, safe, comfortable and clean room ran by two very nice people. I myself will definitely be staying again the next time I’m in that area again. 😊

Extremely pleased with the cleanliness, which brought us here. Everything seemed great until Saturday night. Very noisy. Thin walls. Won't go into what we heard next door at 2:30 in the morning. Backs up to a sports bar. When we returned at 6 p.m. from our day out on Sunday, they were cleaning our room. At 6 p.m.? The shower had just enough hot water to keep it from freezing you. Couldn't even get warm out of it. Sunday night was much quieter. Sorry, can't recommend.

Look, the manager is really nice and was really great. He was really helpful and kind. But, unfortunately it does not cover up the fact that this is an old weathered motel that just falls short for the price it costs. Small rooms, paper thin walls, no continental breakfast, only cheap bar soap (no shampoo), old bedding and furniture and noising street. I knew this was the cheapest option in Gilroy so my expectations were low already, but it even fell short of those expectations.

The room is tiny, really tiny, but clean; except for one disgusting stain (looked like blood and semen) on the underside of the bedspread. The shower has a misting head which some people love but I find difficult to rinse some body areas. TV has no volume, I guess to not disturb neighbors but so low it’s hard to hear. No ventilation in the bathroom. The window curtain blocks the air conditioning vents. There are no power outlets by the headboard and the motel had no extension cords. Good luck if you use a CPAP or other device while you sleep. We had to go out and buy some. The refrigerator works well and was well defrosted. If it’s the only game in town I’d stay there again, but not my first choice by any means.

Garlic and a bed ... what more do you need?

Okay ... We didn't realize that Gilroy was the garlic capitol of the world. This motel sits right in the heart of Gilroy so all you smell is garlic. Not that it's a bad thing but for me, I wanted steak the whole time I was there.

We booked this place for location and price and we got what we paid for. The room was very old and used looking. Now mind you, I am not a hotel/motel snob, if I were, I would never have booked it. But this place does test you a bit. The AC had that weird old AC smell. Yes the rooms are clean but if you are a clean freak, you may want to clean it again.

It's fine for 1 night, a place to hang your hat, sleep, get up and more on.

Decent Budget Motel

A good, family-run budget motel in Gilroy. We stayed here for a night while traveling north to south. KK made us feel welcome from check-in. We appreciated the good Wi-Fi and well-lit parking lot. The walls were a little thin - we clearly heard a couple \"having fun\" next door throughout the night. The pillows were also a little thin and small, although upon request, KK happily brought a much larger and comfier pillow to our room. Overall, a decent budget motel.

As others have reviewed, it is an older property, but very well kept. When we arrived late on a Saturday night in August, we noticed a taco truck parked across the street with many people around it and also a sports bar directly behind the motel. We were worried this would spell bad things for our night ahead. We were pleasantly surprised that even though we were the closest room to these, all was calm and quiet. A plus with being an older property is thicker walls instead of the paper thin ones at some of the newer properties we have stayed at. Bathroom recently updated and decent LED tv. No special extras like coffee and such, but was not expecting anything but a clean quiet room to sleep in and that's what we had. Overall, very impressed with our stay and was an excellent value!! So much better than some nasty value chain motel (M6)...

Manager was extremely friendly, pleasant, and accommodating. The room wasn't clean though, the water pressure in the shower was terrible. The tv worked, the fridge and microwave worked, so that was good. I was pleased to see that there were a lot of security cameras, that made me feel safer. Every other motel in the area was near triple the price so we booked here, you get what you pay for, and it was a good deal! Very nice staff though!

Booked a room with a queen bed. At check-in, the clerk (a barefoot man in pajamas with no robe) tells me I have been 'upgraded' to a room with two beds. Two double beds instead of a queen is not an upgrade. This is an old style roadside motel, very dated, but clean. The soap they provide is not as nice as many places I've stayed, but it gets the job done. There is a fridge and microwave in the room. The television would not work. The remote seemed fine as a red light appeared when the power button was pushed, but tv wouldn't come on. The ice machine requires quarters so be prepared for that.

the room smelled like bug spray. thankful that I had a cold and couldn't smell anything, but my husband was able to smell it, and he has a higher tolerance level than i do. if i was able to smell it, we would have definitely changed rooms. they did not offer any hot water, nothing. my problem with hotel/motel rooms is they don't vacumn the corners or under the bed. it was very very dusty. there were also ants in the bathroom. i guess the bug spray didn't help get rid of the ants.
