We stayed at National 9 for a week and I cannot say enough how wonderful the staff was. Bright, cheery, and helpful. The rooms were clean and nice, and you honestly can't beat the price. Great water pressure, too! Highly recommend.

probably was the worst I've had . it is dirty it has rip carpet and I just can't describe it. They'v hav eeery small refrigerator it's unplugged when you get there along with the heater and the microwave will you plug it in you have no real contact except for the phone with the person. They had a new system or they TV so you just couldn't get one channel to another with that clicker install. I will never stay there again

We were stuck in horrible traffic in a storm so we had to turn around. We were able to snag this room last minute. Front desk person was very nice. The room was sad. Thin little blankets, thin little towels. Found out in the morning it's on the edge of town and near nothing. Would not stay again. The picture of the hotel looks so nice. When you pull up it's like a run down motel. Kind of funny but sad.

Thank goodness I fell forward. Complained to management. Not sure they will fit it since it is clear it had been this way for along time. Also the internet did not work. Complained and nothing was done.

Check-in couldn’t have been easier. Check-in staff was a pure delight! Room was safe, clean, comfortable. Convenient to restaurants, downtown Placerville (super cute and fun!), coffee. We came for Apple Hill fall fun and this hotel was great for our family of 4 doing a quick and budget-friendly family mini-trip. Will definitely be back.

I have stayed at this hotel in the past but it had been years since I had done so. Should have been a red flag when at 3 in the afternoon the check-in lobby was closed and they required people to use the night window to check in. In hind sight I believe it may have been for their security. The room appeared clean and orderly if not old and in desperate need of a makeover, I turned on the AC unit (that was covered in ducktape to hold it together) and left for the afternoon. The room should have been cold when I returned at 7:30 but instead it was stuffy and hot the AC was still running but putting out very little cold air. When I went to take a shower I found that the bathroom door would not close and the hinges were all loose, it appeared it had been fixed before with the kind of screws being used. The shower was at full pressure and you you could only control the temperature. When I turned to the bed I have to say it was one of the most beat down old mattresses I have ever been on, I could feel the individual springs in the mattress. That night at 10:30 there was screaming yelling and cursing in the parking lot with some kind of altercation that was loud enough to wake me from the 2nd floor. The room did not cool enough to be comfortable until 2-3am. In short it is worth spending a bit more to be in both a better part of town and be in a comfortable room.

The only problem was the tv was not working and I couldn’t connect my phone to it without the actual remote for the tv not just the cable remote. But I stayed in the exact same room before, so all I would have needed to do is ask for it and I know the staff would have given me the remote with no problems, it was just inconvenient.

During the middle of the day after my first night, I returned to the room and found the card key inoperative. The manager said that the computer wiped out the cards for all rooms, and she had to re-program mine.
The outside window at the back of the room had a very thin curtain, so the morning sun blasted into the room and woke me. A better curtain would be a big improvement.
The hangers were looped around the dowel, so they couldn't be removed. Clothes had to be stretched over the hangers to get them on and off.
For some reason, the microwave and the refrigerator were both unplugged. The TV powered on with the remote, but the Dish receiver had to be manually turned on. The a/c worked well.

Mold Issues...
Stayed here for one night after we had car trouble during a trip and this was the only thing available last minute. The staff were friendly and helpful but these place needs major repairs and upkeep. Several things in the room were broken, but the biggest issues to us was the mold in the shower. We were exhausted and just needed a place to rest our heads. We check the bed thoroughly for bugs and tried to get some sleep. Will not be coming back here and I would caution others.

I have stayed in nicer budget hotels, but for an overnight stay in Placerville it was completely worth it. Coffee machine and fridge in room. I took one star off because the room description said two queen beds and I got a room with 1 double and 1 full. Not even a single queen. Wish I at least got what I paid for.
