We reserved the Deluxe room with king size bed. We called Thursday to confirm the room. We told them over the phone, we have 2 dogs. We were not given the room reserved. We were given a room with 2 single beds. The vending machine on the property was out of service. The lamp in the room was not properly assembled and would fall over easily. The staff was very unhelpful in our request and slightly apologetic about things.

The room was accidentally booked by a small child playing on my phone. I called to explain the situation to the hotel and they said there’s nothing they could do but I should contact the third party (hotels.com) and they should be able to help me out. I contacted hotels.com who then contacted the hotel again to ask for a refund and the hotel refused. I’ll remove this hotel from any future trips that’s for sure.

My room was double-booked with a suitcase in the room. The office was at another location, so I had to call. When no one answered I left a message. But no one ever contacted me and several hours later the other party showed, was surprised, and took her suitcase. I bolted the door after that.

Very dated room, very dated procedures. Would not recommend this motel to anyone.

We left instead of staying a second night

The office was closed for renovation so we had to check in at the property just up the road. The included breakfast was a stale, packaged pastry that I got at check-in. Booked a double queen room but the beds were just full size. Both my kids hurt their feet on the exposed tack strip on the edge of the threshold into the bathroom so we covered it with a towel. The shower curtain was on the ground, the shelf in the shower had been ripped off, showing exposed concrete, and the inside of the bathroom door was missing a bunch of paint (likely from a pet that was locked inside). We were planning to stay 2 nights but decided to just drive home after a long day of river rafting rather than stay a second night. I will say the grass area and garden are quite pretty.

The handicap room #1 is not very accessible. No room around the bed for a wheelchair. No bars in the shower. Shower head is on the opposite wall of the bench seat. There is also no removable shower head to wash person. The water does not even reach the person. Our second room a/c did not work. They brought in a fan and said that was all they could do. The staff was kind but the actual rooms were not great. One plus is the pool is clean and beautiful.

Great price but unsafe

I was traveling for medical reasons. I needed a place to sleep for the night. I chose this hotel for the price and boy did I pay. In most ways this hotel was fine, but… I cut my foot badly on a staple sticking out of the floor in front of the bathroom door. There was black mold in the bathroom on the walls above the shower, and my coffee pot did not work. it still had the coffee and water in it from the person who was in the room before me and they tried to make coffee and it didn’t work for them either. I wish I had taken pictures now, but I was hoping to get a resolution from the owner when I checked out and I did not, so here is my honest review.

Kind of happy but maybe not.

The motell was under renovation and the office was closed. We had to drive to the other hotel up the road just a few feet away. When i checked in they did not have the King bed we asked for at the hotel i requested that was close to the pool but the offered us a room with two queen beds at the same price so we took that. The AC worked but it was realy loud so when it would come on every 10 minutes it would wake you up. There were construction workers staying there and at 5 am they were out side tallking very loud and they had their stereo up with the doors open not to mention the backup beepers. When there is a parking lot on the other side of the property the could make as much noise as they want.

The room door did not lock. Big gap at the door jamb. Literally did not lock. Pushed it open as I went to slide the key in. Had to change rooms. The breakfast (as advertised included) is one danish and “coffee in your room” as the woman stated at the front desk as she handed me the danish (did give me 2 of them;). She and her husband were very kind and moved my room and said that someone stayed on that room the night before with no problems.

This property was older which is no problem if the proper maintenance is done. The ice machine did not work, the pool had a pad lock on the gate, the office was closed for renovations (which were not currently being done) and you have to travel up the road to another motel to use their office. On the positive side,the a/c was cold and since we ended up in a wheel-chair friendly room our shower was nice and roomy. Good location but we would not stay there again.

Unfortunately we had to leave because the overwhelming scent of the cleaner/disinfectant that they used was making me feel sick. They claimed was using what they had to for the regulations, however they were using way to much...Ive stayed in motels before and after this and none smelled like this. Including the one we ended up staying at instead of. The room wasn't vacuumed good and there were crumbs in the entry. The curtain was broken and as I tried to move it I found the backside covered in dust and grime. The pillows were so wrinkly they looked like someone slept on them...its cheap,..for a reason.

My reservation was at Mother Lode, but when I tried to check in, the office was closed and a note to call a number for assistance. The number was to another hotel up the road. I went there, had no choice but to check in. Rooms smelled so bad, electrical outlets in bathroom didn't work, no wi-fi, hardly any TV channels and no pool. Switch and bait!!

The only good thing about this property is that there is a large grassy area for my dog to go potty. They (both the hotel and EXPEDIA should tell you that there is not just a $50 dog deposit but also it costs an additional $25 per day! Ridiculous! For $500 for 3 nights I could have stayed in a nicer location and hotel! The seals around the room door were not there, we could hear everything and feel the cold air coming in, there were ants all over the bathroom... when I told the manager, she left me a can of ant and roach spray! The beds were super soft and lumpy and the AC blew cool air, not cold at all, luckily the nights were still pretty cool there.

There was a horrific odor like dead animal very strong when we arrived. It was so bad guest from another room was it the parking lot complianing to the manager. When we went to the office to check in there was a note saying office closed for renovation please use office at hotel next door. When got back in pur vehicle past the smell of the dead animal. And at check in complained we didnt wish to stay where the smell was the lady said no problem we could stay here. We said thank you however the price of the room was higher than my original reservation.

This is a quiet place to stay for a very economical price. We just needed a place to sleep for one night and it served its purpose. A couple of outlets did not work and the free breakfast was in room coffee and some pastries in a box available at the front desk (which I only found when I was checking out). But if looking for a no frills cheap place to stay, this is a good choice.

The motherlode motel is actually closed so you have to go to the neighbor property by the same owners the Gold trail which is just behind it. I was given a rate of $118 total for the room and then when I went to the Gold trail I was charged $153. Looks like a bait and switch type of situation. The motel is just the bare basics and it's not near the downtown area so you have to drive to find food. Very disappointed overall even though it was a pleasant room to stay in. I was definitely over charged for what I was promised on Orbitz.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is right near the entrance to the Apple orchards and Carson street.
Please pay attention to the pricing when booking, the higher pice is for the newly remodeled room. I did not know that upon booking, but the owner was happy to accommodate my request for the remodeled room.
We would definitely stay here again.

We were supposed to have One room with 2 beds at the mother load motel.. Due to the fis through the fire they asked us ask if we could take 2 separate rooms each with a single bed We were not told that it was going to be at a sister motel that they have And the rooms were so small he'd barely fit between the bed And the TV It was very cramped. I understand that the needed rooms for the firefighters but these rooms were not worth what they were charging at all $160. We had stayed at the mother load be for and it was fine but the sister lodge gold trail motor lodge was awful

We checked-in around 2pm. We left without going into our room. We came back at around 3am and our keys did not work. We rang doorbell for front desk service and the man came out shortly telling us that he gave our original room away because other people in large groups wanted to stay in close room proximity. He then told me to go to a different room because he “replaced” me. What if I had my luggages and belongings in there already??? What if I was in the room already, possibly showering or sleeping? The front desk SWAPPED my room out per other customer’s request without asking me! Luckily I was not in the room at the time, because something ugly would have happened along with a lawsuit.

The hotel owners are terrible and treat everyone like they are criminals. As we were recently evacuated due to the Caldor Fire, we needed a local hotel to stay in. However, the owners take advantage of the people that are evacuated and charge them extra for basic things. Also, their pool, which was the reason we booked the place so that our kid could at least have some fun, was closed for 2 while days while they “put chemicals in it”.
We originally booked the Mother Lode Inn, but they put us in their Gold Trail Lodge portion of the property. Bait and switch.
Travelers beware, try National 9 first if they aren’t already booked, very friendly there, just don’t stay here.

I never got my refund back from my pet deposit of $100. The room was extremely hot even though the air conditioner was on. It could not cool off the room. It was advertised that the room was at the hotel with the pool. The receptionist wan Toto put me at the other hotel with no pool and charged me another $35 A $ 100 room cost me double and it sucked!!

I want to start with first off I was 2 hours late checking in (stuck in traffic) and the woman working there was the nicest person I've encountered in customer service. She was patient and kind even though she had to stay up late waiting on us. The room was awesome afordable AND pet friendly. Big comfy beds for a hotel with the nicest pillows and the water pressure is awesome! Definitely recommend!

When we arrived the room smelled stale. There were scratches on several walls with scuffed paint edges. There were 4 people staying and only 2 towels. When we called up front for additional towels only 1 was brought to the room. Heater was loud and ran all night. Microwave would not start. Towel rack in bathroom was falling off the wall. Toilet paper rack was broken. There was no dead bolt lock for added security on the door. The room had an adjoining door with the room next door. The handle on that door was loose and didn’t lock well. Also we had several issues with the card reader for the door that kept not reading the card. We had to insert the card several times before the door would open. Plus the desk and 1 chair in the room was disgusting. The desk was against the wall with 1 filthy, filthy chair. We had to eat our meals on the beds. I took a video of the room once we arrived as I always do of any broken or not clean items. They were also remodeling the front lobby but never notified us that we had to register at the motel up the road. It wasn’t until we arrived that we saw a note/sign saying to go to the next motel.

The mother lode motel was under renovation, so they moved me to the gold trail next door. I’m sure the hotel is the same quality / caliber. The family who runs it was nice. The room was very small but clean enough. The value was not there however. I could have stayed at the best western down the road for $10 more.

The Mother Lode Motel is not fancy, but it is clean and comfortable. The rooms have been refurbished and I believe the beds were new. It sits off of the freeway, but it's very quiet and enjoyable. Very close to Apple Hill and also a short drive to Tahoe. We have stayed multiple time and will stay again when in the area.

Very simple furnishings but neighbors had tv on ALL night! The motel was not worth 90$.

After driving over 12 hours, the last 3 which were in a snow storm, I had an unplanned stay over at this hotel. I did not find the typical friendly customer service upon check in, which was a poor start to a much needed stay. When I inquired about where the “breakfast” that was included with my stay and was informed that there was a coffee maker in my room and there woukd be sweet rolls in the tiny lobby. The room was very cold when I arrived. There was a plentiful level of dead insects deposited in the sconce light. While I could tell the old hotel had been remodeled, I have stayed in much bicer places for less money. Thumbs down.

When we got there, there was a large pile of cement slag next to the boarded-up office. The entries to the rooms looked like the stucco was being removed. There were some construction vehicles and some private cars in the lot. We waited for someone to come out of a room and asked where the office was. It was at the motel next door. They really should have told us or had a sign posted. We went to the next motel and they offered to have us stay there. It looked way better. It was clean with the only problem being no toilet paper holder. The \"breakfast\" included, however, was a small breakfast pastry in a plastic bag, the kind you can buy in bulk at the grocery store. They could have at least said \"continental\" breakfast. The discounted rate for a room with a king bed was approximately $101.30 I'm assuming because it was near Apple Hill and on a weekend. There was a large TV, a frig and a microwave. The kid loved that. We might go again because it was close to Apple Hill but some signage would have been helpful and an accurate listing of the \"breakfast\" would have been more forthright.

Expensive and mediocre

This place has potential. But it feels like you are paying a premium for that potential. It's under renovation. Bathroom tile, paint, TV are new. Bathroom fixtures were old or broken. Carpet needs to be replaced. Was surprised at an unpublished $50 deposit for a non-smoking room. Motel owners were very friendly and the office had an aroma of a delicious curry.
