DO NOT STAY HERE! DISGUSTING!!

The room was absolutely disgusting! There was food in the fridge from previous people, the TV remote was sticky and coated with who knows what, insects in the bathroom and there was a smear of stool on the toilet seat. Almost everything in the room was broken. Drawers without handles and were literally falling out of the dressers, holes in the walls and the toilet paper holder was partially gone so the paper was just sitting on the top of the toilet. The Wi-Fi didn’t work and the beds and pillows were hard. Also, there was someone going up and down banging on the doors of rooms early in the morning making sleep impossible. My sister and I felt like we were going to get a disease staying in that room. Stay away from this place!!

Overall, it was an OK stay for one night, small room, not a lot of accommodations. For $130 for one night is pushing it though. The room was fairly clean, but smelled heavily of cleaning materials. Owner also called me the day of my reservation and asked me to send my credit card over email which is not a good approach. Lots of homeless nearby as well.

For the amount of money that this motel cost, it was disappointing. There were no hangers or hair dryer until the office was contacted. There was no place to put suitcases except the floor. The soap was the size of a silver dollar. There was no \"service needed/no service needed\" tag for door. Had to have staff come to room to show how to use temperature control remote. Our room was in a section of the motel where all the workers were staying-so lots of trash, boots drying out, large trucks,etc. And the \"Free Breakfast\" consisted of the coffee in our room and a packaged sweet roll in the office.
We would not stay here again.

Chose this hotel as a place to spend the night that's close to where we were coming to see the local races. Place is a bit dated but it's very well kept and clean. The staff that owns the place is a couple that were on site. They were friendly and nice. Would recommend as a good place to lay your head for the night if you need a inexpensive place to stay.

If you're looking for luxury, this is not the place for you. The rooms are TINY. The carpet and furnishings are completely old and outdated, and the rooms reek of old cigarette smoke. The bed is really hard and so are the pillows. There's also the bonus of having some resident crack heads in the room next to you, there's a sign taped to the door telling you so. The floors in the bathroom were filthy, i used a towel to wipe up some water, and towel turned black. Also there as no breakfast as advertised, and the ice machine didnt work If the place were cleaned up, carpet ripped out and replaced with LVP and old furnishings tossed, it could be a really cute inn to stay at. The price was good and it was located close to my destination. The ower/staff very friendly. But to have to climb over the bed to get to the bathroom is a lottle ridiculous.

This is not a bad hotel, the comforter on the bed takes you bad to the 80s so it has that nostalgic charm, but the place is very clean and rooms are in a great renovate condition new paint, and so on. Bathrooms are nice and big and clean as well. dont let the exterior of this place fool you, for a motor inn, it is 8.5/10

Their per policy is not listed on this site. I paid extra $25 a night but they told me upon check in that they have a strict no pet alone in room policy. So you pay and extra fee to have the dog in a supposed dog friendly hotel and then they expect you to take the pet with you every time you leave the motel. The place is also in dire need of repairs and renovations. It was not very clean and was damaged. Missing towel bar. Moldy strip at base of shower. Threadbare curtains. Doors damaged. Furniture aged and shabby. Mattress was very old.

The room was clean as far as we could tell there was only one wash cloth,the shower had plenty of hot water and pressure was great maybe to good it sprayed and splashed out of the shower which makes the floor very wet a few more towels could could help mitigate the wet floor. Overall it served the purpose the bathroom fan could not be run because it squealed so bad.still though for the price it will do.

The Gold Trail Motor Lodge and the Mother Lode Motel apparently now have the same owner. We booked with Mother Lode but ended up next door with a room in the Gold Trail Motor Lodge. For being so close to the freeway our room was remarkably quiet. The bed was comfortable, the shower was immediately hot and the water pressure wonderful. The place was clean. There is room for improvement-- dresser drawers needing handles, wall paper section needing glue . . .
Would we stay there again when passing through the area? Absolutely. The room was definitely good enough. What was outstanding? The delightful couple who ran the place. They are friendly and a pleasure to deal with.

Check in was very easy. The lady was very nice at the front desk and when I had a little trouble with the lock, her husband was able to take care of it immediately. The place was quiet, clean a very comfortable. I got to park my truck right out front. The town was very close, if I had needed it, but, I had everything I needed with me. I love their set up of the yummy coffee, mini fridge, microwave and tv and definitely an awesome air conditioner!!! I stayed for 2 days and nights. I would definitely come back here next visit !!!

Found it a wee bit tricky to find my room, but I got it sorted out easy enough. The area seems to be a little more sketchy than I'd typically like, but honestly it's not bad. It's right off of hwy 50, so it's amazingly convenient.

The office staff were so polite it was refreshing. They do close the office at 11pm, so no late check ins.

The room itself is very clean, and the bathroom is newly renovated and shower works great. The AC works wonderfully.

Rudest man working the front desk we arrived at 11:35pm rang the bell for front desk where a man came out and informed me there closed office closed at 11:30 refused to check us in. After complaining he rudely checked us in. It was no where posted that the office closes at 11:30. Will never stay here again!!!!

It was quiet until night time when everyone around you wanted to party. Got woken up at 3:00 AM to the next door neighbor partying loud and not caring what time of the night it was. Bathroom had tiny soaps to use that barley even worked. The sink and shower knobs turned around over and over until you got the temperature you needed.

Placerville Visit

Property appears to have been recently renovated. Our king bed room had the awful wall AC unit removed (they are always noisy and blow right over the bed) and installed an upper wall Mitsubishi air handler that was whisper quiet and kept the room very comfortable. A Kohler brand toilet in the bath with a soft close seat and cover that form over the seat to allow you to sit on it without the cover sliding sideways. Ammenities were simple, coffee maker, fridge, and microwave, wall mounted TV. Room was quiet, despite being near the freeway.

We had 3 rooms total, and Room 20 was very oddly small, A queen bed almost touched the dresser/TV and was diffcult to maneuver in the room, The highway is very noisy but uncontrollable we understand, but overall we had no major issues.

The room only had about 12 inches between the bed and the dresser. The door to the bathroom was in the way of walking around the bed. In the morning there were ants in the bathroom. Not very clean.

Nicely kept place, but problem with hot water

The Gold Trail and next-door Mother Lode motels are managed as a single property. Our room was in the Mother Lode motel. It was nicely remodeled, though in an older building. Two issues worth mentioning: we didn't get a written slip or \"cheat sheet\" with wi-fi password info when we checked in, which required a phone call to the office (at the other motel.) And getting password info by phone is difficult at best. I finally gave up and drove back to the office so I could get the correct password in writing. The other issue: I might have misunderstood how to use the unlabeled single control lever for the shower, but never could get any hot water. Didn't get any from the sink, either. Managed to shave with cold water, but had to give up on the shower.

As bad as the accomodations are, those who stay here are even worse. Prior to our arrival a prior occupant of our room (or so the story is told) stole the light bulb out of our only lamp, stole the battery out of our smoke detector and apparently stole the copper wiring from two electrical outlets rendering them useless. We were greeted by a trollette who left us with the impression that our presence here was an annoyance. If your intention is a longer stay at the Mother Lode you'll be pleased to know they have provided an extra roll of TP and don't expect breakfast or much more than two cups of coffee. It is way overpriced and a loser.

I made a last minute night time reservation because of a snow storm over the Sierra passes.

I arrived to the hotel around 12:20am. The concierge was not able to locate my reservation from Hotels.com. At first, he told me that he had no space and that it was too late to check in. After 5 more minutes, of showing him my confirmation info and pleading, I was able to get a room. However, I had to pay again to check in. Will be requesting a refund from Hotels.com.

The room was clean, but needs maintenance:
- bed side light did not work
- a couple tiles were missing in the bathtub/shower
- both towel racks were broken

Overall, served it's purpose for an emergency stay, but be forwarned.

First of all, this isn't a 5 star resort. It was everything I could hope for in a cheap motor lodge, meaning the front desk was super nice, the room was clean, and the price was cheap. My two daughters and wife needed a place to crash. There weren't any strange odors, random hairs in the sheets or bathroom, and we didn't wake up with flea bites. It would be fine for people to stay at for more than \"crashing a night\" too as there are plenty of fun things to do in the area.

The property is clean and I would consider it above average for this star level. We had a slight issue with our check in but it wasn’t really their fault, more on my bank’s end, but we were able to resolve quickly and easily. We discovered our remote control was missing and the management team was readily available and we had one within minutes. The staff are just so nice.

There is a mini Mart back down the street, because it is a one way street part of the way, to get to the minimart you need to cross back under the freeway--use a navigation app. Also, on the other side of town there is a good 24-hr taqueria: it is a 20 min round trip but worth the drive. Can't beat the trees and how beautiful everything is as far as nature. One hour to Tahoe.

Overall you get what you pay for. Cheapest hotel in town so dont be expecting much. Luckly had nice neighbors. Owner is not the friendliest and sent me a very rude message over my review of hotel. Not the cleanest and room pictures are not accurate by any means. If you can swing the extra $15 stay at the Best Western or anywhere with atleast 3 stars. Pool closed to covid. Breakfast is a free Danish pre packaged. Wifi given doesnt work or show. Woke up to one day no electricity. Wish I had been able to see room before paying. CHeck in is at 4 but doesnt mean you get room at that time. Ours was not available. Just means you can pay at anytime per owner. Will read reviews more carefully before booking online ever again because of here. Overall if you dont mind a dirty room and some sketchy room and service and need to save a dime this is your place. If you can dont stay here. We couldn't even use the bed and blankets as not changed and used our own. A learning experience for sure. Hoping not to get another mean message from owner over giving my honest opinion.
