Room was not what it should have been. Not as clean as it should be…bathroom mirror not cleaned. Not vacuumed ( found a piece of glass on it). Was told they clean every other day. But all they did was empty garbage can and replace a towel. It said my room was a balcony resort view room…my view was of the roof and parking lot.

The resort rooms are on the small side and they have microwaves available but you need to request (no information offered at check in). They clean only every 5th day but give towels on request. Restaurant closes at 9 PM and very limited choices. But the pool is great and lots to do nearby. It is worth paying for beach view--partial view is basically none at all. The small beach is nice. Best place for breakfast inside is King's Coffee--open early with excellent choices and great lattes.

Loved that this property was walking distance to shops and restaurants. The hotel has a pool and lovely beach. You can snorkel and see turtles and tons of fish. Drinks by the pool were heavenly. Staff was amazing!

The beach was crowded and open to public. There are homeless people camped at the side of the building near the beach which we didn’t feel safe. Too crowded and loud; there’s no place to relax. There is also additional resort fee which it didn’t make sense as there’s only a small poll; the place is more like a hotel than a resort. The front desk staff were not welcoming; barely a small; just check guests in. This is the worse “resort” place I ever stayed at and I will NEVER EVER going back.

It was a great place to stay! Beautiful property! Within walking distance of tons of shopping and eating! Ocean right out the door! Very secure, all doors are locked at night and only way in is with your key. We had a partial ocean view room, half was the roof of the building other half was ocean view but it was still a good view! Lots of history of the island is on display for you to view and learn! Room was quiet, we heard nothing from the busy street right out front! The downside….housekeeping only comes every other day, which means you have to call down to get more towels and empty your garbages, I wish at least they would drop towels off for you. Parking is 35 a night, everywhere is paid parking but I wish the parking was included in your stay, for the price that you pay for the room! Hotel food and drinks are twice the price of anywhere else, 1 min walk and you can save hundreds!
Overall, I would stay here again, the location is what make it stand out!

The hotel is dated and need full renovation.
The location is good but in some areas they allow outside people to use the amenities.
I had a late fight leaving Kona 9:55pm and asked for a possible extension of my stay willing to pay additional charge for the extra hours.
Basically they said they were totally booked so I need to pay full day charge to stay an extra 5 hours in my room. It was a rip-off!
Then, I found out that the hotel was not fully booked like they said.
Front desk staff was not friendly.
Also, they wrongly charged me $73.30 for a restaurant meal. Trying to contact them, but nobody call me back.
Daily rate too high for what you are getting back.

Lots of rules that stifle enjoyment. Local concert took up all of the parking spaces creating a real fun time parking even tho I paid for parking. We won’t stay here again.

First thing I checked in and I had ocean front room and instead they gave me 2 floor room that the view was the first floor roof , I went to guest service and they did not help me at all , I had to request a manager to show them the view of the room I booked and the one they gave me , she then proceeded to help me and gave me the one I purchased, her name was Mailie , the beach in front of the hotel is used by locals and anyone , there is not exclusively like they show on pics here ,I fine to stay here but is way overpriced

Overall positive. Drive-up was easy and door staff friendly. I was a bit frustrated at check-in. I was in the Elite line with a single attendant. There were 3 for everyone else so we were being lapped. Even when there was noone in the standard line none of the attendants helped those of us in the Elite line. Never experienced that before.
Room clean, nice view. West tower, looking over the lagoon. Would suggest doing something with the roof we overlooked; its a bit of an eyesore. Maybe a green roof? Tax break, maybe?
I was given a different room than I reserved: 2 doubles instead of a King. For some reason that was not mentioned at check-in (also a concern) but staff made of for it when I called. Good service recovery; very pleasant individual.
Loved the artwork in the lobby leading to the West wing; great cultural exposure. Parking abundant. Liked the pool and bubbly hot tub!

My partner and I both loved our stay at the Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. There were so many wonderful things that we enjoyed. It was a beachfront hotel, so just a quick walk out of the lobby and you're at a pool with a hot tub and a little beach with a lagoon that opens to the sea. We enjoyed the refreshing water and being able to see fish in the water at our feet. There were also many walkable shops and restaurants; it's very close to Ali'i Drive where all the shops are. We enjoyed lunch at a nice grill and breakfast at a local coffee shop nearby. The views were amazing and the service was outstanding with a lot of aloha. There are also many services in the hotel, like UFO parasailing, which we did and thoroughly enjoyed. There is also a beautiful art exhibit of King Kamehameha the Great.

We arrived at 11:30 am which is too early to check in. However, we were able to get our room at that time. Unfortunately, the room had not been cleaned properly especially the bathroom which was gross. Staff was very responsive and offered to change the room or clean it again. As we had already unpacked (done before discovering the bathroom issue) we opted to keep the room. We were comped all breakfasts and parking for the duration of our stay (10 days). Hotel staff was great during our stay.

Your hotel stands out for its abundance of choices and impeccable customer service. Specifically, the concierge department delivered warm, genuine care with no pretense, no burnout, no eye-rolling, no profiling, and no snobbery. In over 30 years of traveling, this is the best concierge department I have had the pleasure of experiencing.

I was satisfied with the first two rooms during my week-long stay. Unfortunately, the last room had such a strong moldy,musty odor, that I used it only as a luggage hold and for a quick morning shower. Furniture was old, but by fat the worst part was the shower itself: heavily rusted metal frame with sharp rusted edges, including a sharp protruding piece that cut my ankle quite deeply when I stepped out of it.

I did not mention this to anyone until now for a reason. The hotel was sold out the day of my departure, and I did not want to add stress to a busy staff. Only after reflecting on possible risk of harm to another guest, did I decide to share this information in this review once it popped up. I did appreciate the strong aspects of my visit ,and hope this helps your hotel maintain its high standards.

The heavy doors slam shut so you will get to listen to that all morning starting around 5. My bathtub drain was plugged but that was addressed while i was out, although they left stringy hairs all over the tub. Approached the front desk to ask if they had a room for 4 stranded travelers. We were asked bruskly what flight had been canceled. We explained that we were kamaaina and we were stranded because the road had been closed between kona and ocean view. We were once again told bruskly that she had a room available, but we didn't qualify for stranded traveler.And they did not accept walk in business.So we would have to book a full price room online only. So much for aloha! Ended up paying close to seven hundred dollars , including an outrageous forty dollars for parking! The facility and the room itself was more in keeping with a two hundred dollar rate. After checking in and then being misinformed about dining facilities for that evening and the next morning, we went to the drive through fast food joint and headed to our room for the night. All in all, marriott ended up adding insult to injury that stormy evening.

It is a good hotel but don't expect anything special, even for the high price. There is coffee in the room, but only paper cups. The ocean view isn't actually ocean view, it is only partial because your actual view are the other balconies across from you. You have to lean out and to the side to see the water. The beach is nice but has no chairs or umbrellas. You could only rent a cabana for additional $$. Room was clean but the daily cleaning was not that thourough. Closet space was small. Pool area is nice but they do come around and aggressively place drink menues on your little table. I just came to relax and have water though 😃 The weirdest thing is though that they send out these emails before your trip saying \"We're so excited for your stay.. let us know what we can do.. bla bla\" When I actually responded that it's my husbands 50th Birthday and asked if they do anything for birthdays, there wasn't even a reply. I didn't expect much but not even a \"Happy Birthday\" reply is lame 😅 I really liked the ice machine and water dispenser though. It was great to get as much fresh drinking water as I wanted every day. The location is great, too. It's walking distance to everything in town and the Kona Pier is right there aswell. The attached ABC store is super convenient 👌 All in all it is a good hotel but don't expect \"fancy\" or \"special\" even though it's expensive.

The rooms were clean and the views were amazing. We loved the access to the beach steps from our room. The morning staff, especially Matt, were amazing when we realized they gave us the wrong room the night before, he went above and beyond! I wish I could have seen him again. The front desk staff in the afternoons and evenings were very rude, acted like they don’t want any mainlanders there. With rooms had some issues, our last room the shower water was scalding hot unless you left it on for 10 mins before you got in.

If you want a beautiful view, amazing staff at the restaurant, and easy access to an incredible luau and little beach, this is the place for you. We personally will find something else next time.

We paid for an ocean front room 6+ months in advance which we thought would be one of the best rooms. The view from the second floor was the roof top the restaurant and the parking lot. We were so upset that we asked to be moved to a standard room which viewed the side with the tennis courts. I think Marriot should be ashamed for calling that and charging for an oceanfront. Today now we are at a different hotel with a beautiful ocean front view.

We stayed for 6 days and had mixed feelings for reasons above.

We expected more from the Marriot brand. Room and bathroom was small with lime scale on the shower track and old chipped paint on door jams and other areas. The double queen room had a single nightstand between the beds. The website said the room was \"oceanview (balcony)\" which cost more. The ocean could only be seen from one chair on the balcony and that was very limited even when hanging your head over the balcony. Housekeeping was every other day.

The location was very central and walkable to many restaurants and shops. Staff was very friendly. Especially at the pool.

When we got there we were checked in immediately which was nice. They had two options which i wasn't aware of from hotel.com (OCEAN FRONT and OCEAN VIEW) We got the ocean view which the check in lady told us and put us right into a room where you only see the ocean if you walk out to the balcony LOL.

A day in we started to get respiratory issues, if you're at all allergic to dander you may want to consider other places because they do not clean the vents and the vent in the bathroom runs 24/7.

The staff was overall nice however when i complained about my room the lady downstairs (crystal? ) said we could switch but was going to cost us $$$. - I called hotels.com about it and they somehow managed to get the manager to the hotel to give us a call to fix the issue free of charge. We decided to just stay in the room and air it out which helped a lot.

The hotel room itself was ok. The biggest complaint i would say is the pillows suck and you will wake up with neck problems and my husband who is 6' complained at how low the toilets were.

The area was perfect and you're right in the middle of everything.

Everything around you though is about $20-$30 a meal so be prepared to pay.

No complaints. The room was clean and had a nice balcony. Pool was nice and the hotel has its own beach area that’s nice. The hotel was pretty central to a lot of different food places as well Ali’i Drive where there’s a lot of things to do, shop and see. The luau was amazing- however it was my first one so bare that in mind. Hotel guests get a discount as well. We also participated in the parasailing that is offered as well as tried their coffee shop which both were good. There are mini shops in the hotel that you can purchasing items or excursions with. I would come back to this hotel for sure when visiting Kona.
