The hotel’s location is close to the Metro station. There are restaurants around, some are pricy and some are alright. The hotel does not have an AC, which is common in a few parts of Switzerland. I can barely sleep at night since people from the streets and around the area are shouting, laughing boisterously in the wee hours of the night, that is every single night I was there.

Among the staffs, I commend the Asian student who works there from 4pm-9pm. Very friendly, helpful and always smile.

No, I do not recommend this place.

Renovations were cool and roof top terrace had a wonderful view. Very nice and helpful staff working there.
But, parking was not onsite as stated and with construction in the area it was very confusing on where to go. With no a/c we had to keep the windows open which would have been fine except that it was extremely loud until 3am due to the location. If you go in the summer bring earplugs!

This hotel is across the street from a pub that played extremely loud music and it was like a rave until 3:15 Am. There is also no air conditioning and so the windows had to stay open. We did not sleep at all it was so loud. Also our room looked nothing like the pictures posted on Expedia and there was a bald light bulb in our room and a hole in the wall

The hotel is perfectly situated in the old town, but in the summer you need to think twice before staying there. We were on the third floor which is essentially the fourth floor and it was possibly hot at night. There is no air conditioning and there was no good way to get Crossbreeze in the room.

Very Centrale placed- good, clean accommodation with stunning roof top views. Some decor a little tired and right within busy area so expect some noise from bars located nearby in the evening. Recommend staying for comfortable short term stay. You also get a free public transport pass for the duration of your stay which was invaluable. Thank you.

Our small family of three stayed here for one night. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, and let my husband and son hang out after check out while I searched for cough medicine.
Location is terrific if you like cities! We had a wonderful dinner at a nearby Eritrean restaurant and walked to L’Hermitage museum the next day. It’s not a luxurious space but that’s not the charm. We loved it and would stay there again.

Very, very small room and bathroom with outdated style bed.
No airconditoner.
When you open the window for some air during summer, you hear loud people down below singing and talking until 3 am from a Cafe/ restaurant across.
Then by 9 am was the loud ringing of the church bell every 15 minutes for few hours.
Parking is about 3-4 blocks away if you have a car.
Hotel lobby is very tiny.
Location is just few steps from McDonald’s.

Great location. Very limited check in times was an issue. The big problem was that the heat radiator in the bathroom was on full heat, with no way to shut it off and no front desk help at all. It made the stay very uncomfortable even with the window open.

The location was central and just a 2 minute walk to the metro station and only a 12 minute walk to the Lausanne Gare (train station). Within walking distance to a couple of good halal eateries. Very easy to get to from Geneva airport. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a lot of variety and and the cherry on top was that you could eat in the balcony with nice views of the city. The free bus/metro pass to get around the city was a big plus. The room was spacious and comfortable and the staff very polite and hospitable. The washroom was a fair size too though the shower was a bit too small for my liking. Will definitely stay again next time I visit.

Don't expect too much. Rooms are plain and a little cramped, but it's clean and the fixtures are fairly modern. The staff I thought was excellent. Super quick, easy, check-in. She gave me the wifi passwords and a public transport ticket without me having to ask. Breakfast is nice and always included.

Good location, some issues

My first impression of the hotel was a great one - friendly and helpful staff, great location in the middle of everything, breakfast included. However, there were some definite down sides. First of all, I could often smell cigarette smoke leaking in through the ventilation system, and as someone who has asthma and is very sensitive to cigarette smoke, I find that to be a major problem. Second, the hotel had neither air conditioning nor nets on windows, so I had to make the choice between being hot (since I was there in the summer and it really was quite warm outside) or letting in mosquitoes by opening the windows at night. After catching some mosquitoes in my room, I gave up on the windows and turned on a fan that the hotel provided, but the fan was noisy and not terribly effective, so I really did not sleep well there.

This is a very good hotel. It is perfectly located in the centre of town, as it is very close to all forms of public transport, landmarks, restaurants, bars, and high street shops! Breakfast is served on the 5th floor, and you can sit out on the balcony and enjoy the view!

Be careful while booking this online!!

I booked this hotel online on 1 Jun aroung midnight for a 2 night stay of 14-16 Jun, 2016 for an amount of Rs. 45,092 as on the expedia booking confirmation. I chose a higher rate for pay at Hotel with a free cancellation. On 2 Jun early morning, the hotel had charged my credit card for the first night. At check-out on 16 Jun, the hotel charged me Rs. 49, 665 with an assurance that the charge of 2 Jun would be reverted in a fortnight. This was for the stay ONLY. They used some exchange rate of their own. Now today (27 Jun), I get another alert from the bank they appear to have charged CHF15 on my card.

I am still awaiting for the bank to revert with how this amount was charged.

BE AWARE before choosing this hotel!!

Can't wait to stay at the Crystal again!!

We had a wonderful time at the Crystal. The location can't be beat!!! It's in a nice area and we always felt safe walking late at night. It's very close to the metro and bus station and so easy to find with the hotel signs on the street. It's next to a Coop department/grocery store, pharmacy (in case you forget anything) and other fantastic shopping including clothing, chocolate shop, and restaurants. Old town and musuems are just a stone throw away. Easy walking distance!!! There were 3 of us and we had a clean, good size room that including a sitting area, comfy beds and with a view of the cathedral. The breakfast was hearty and fueled you for the whole day!! You have a choice of coffee, tea, juices, hot cocoa, eggs,breads, meats, cheese, fruits and cereals. The staff was the best part. They were all so friendly and very willing to help. When we go back, we will be staying at the Crystal!!

Basically you get what you pay for. Only there for 1 night and being very tired from flight high end amenities were not required as all I wanted was clean and quiet so hotel was exactly what I expected. Clean but small room by N. American standards. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Remember this is Switzerland and hotels are very expensive.

This is a basic hotel..no frills. The room itself was small for 3 people, very small. The room was clean and basic. Self parking was a little walk from the hotel, but it was noted as off site. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, there was space by the metro stop that was scary! The place was filled with homeless, meth heads. Absolutely scary!! Yet, Monday morning, was a different scene with students, business people and food carts. I always had an uneasy feeling of constantly looking over my shoulder. The resturant, Bruxelles, across the street was lively and good food. Because of the small walkway, noise was a factor all night. Breakfast was typical Euopean fare and actually pretty good. Danella was an angel with morning coffee.

Difficult to find. Hotel has 1970's look and feel, very basic. Room overlooked very noisy street with noise all night long, no air con so room was hot and bed uncomfortable. Very tired looking and basic interior. However staff were friendly and breakfast surprisingly very good.

Lausanne itself is disappointing, the wealthy lake front area is great but the city centre is on the decline with, drugs being dealt in the street (in the square near the hotel) and a lot of unpleasant characters around in the evening and lots of beggars. Plenty of areas to keep out of after dark.

The Hotel is more ideal if you are staying there for business than Leisure. One needs to bring the luggage up through the steps to report to the reception. The first night was uncomfortable as it was hot and there was only one pedestal fan available for all four of us. The next day one more pedestal fan was provided on request. The Breakfast was horrible.Even the boiled eggs were cold everyday.

There was no AC, and it was way too noisy to leave the window open. The room was stuffy and this hotel was way too overpriced! I stayed in 9 hotels throughout my travels through Switzerland and this was one of the most expensive and most uncomfortable. I payed as much for this as I did for a 4 star hotel in Zermatt.

Quite a distance from the train station. So , if you have luggage, take a taxi. We walked fast for a solid 20 minutes (with no luggage) to get there. Scrupulously clean so great job by cleaning staff. Good fast wifi ( in public areas only). Location is five minutes from fantastic shops and restaurants and old Brittany quarters st georges and st malo streets). Heaps of room in the studio...mattress needs changing so sleep could have been better (i am fussy about my bed) but location is quiet at night.

Old town Lausanne hotel

This hotel was in a great location to explore Lausanne. If you are driving it is a little scarey coming in because the town is very hilly and the traffic is heavy. The hotel is on an alley with a no entry sign posted but a call to the desk assured us we could pull in for a short time to unload. The parking is a couple blocks away in a garage so the car is fairly unaccessible (parking 20 Swiss Francs/day) however you wouldn't want to drive in Lausanne anyway and the public transportation is great. The desk gives you a free pass to the metro and buses. The hotel is a little dated- carpet is not clean and needs replacing. The breakfast room is very nice with a balcony to eat outside. There is a good selection of bread, fruit, yogurt, and you can boil your own egg. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The beds are hard and the pillows are very small. The room is small but typical for European hotels. There is a refridgerator to store a bottle of wine and some cheese.

Overall I had a pleasant experience, however this is not your standard hotel-chain venue. Rooms are pretty small (make sure you get one with a view of the street instead of the back), and the entrance looks like it is in the middle of some renovation work. If you don't mind a smallish room and a non corporate atmosphere, it's a good place to stay - the staff is very nice and eager to help, breakfast was nice (especially when taken outside at the terrace). The location is pretty good, lots of shopping around and a few decent places to eat. Overall, for Lausanne given its high hotel prices it is a good hotel.

Very centrally located in the heart of the city of Lausanne. Easy and quick access from the train station. A Few block from the Old Town Centre, The Lausanne Cathedral, Museum of Natural History etc.

The front desk service very helpful and friendly.
Nice amenity of free metro/buss card for entire day.
Breakfast, ONE of the BEST I've had for a long time in any hotel.
The only flaw that I want to point out was the worn carpet. But otherwise the room was clean.
The space of the room was a typical what I expect of european hotels. Not large but enough for two people to feel comfortable.

I FULL heartedly recommend this hotel and the location. I certainly will return to this hotel if my travels take me to Lausanne again.

Perhaps best suited for the tourist trade in summer months, I used this property during a business visit ti Devon. It is well maintained and the staff is very helpful. Even during winter months the restaurant was crowed every night.
Expect small rooms, (#12), and thin walls, but a pleasant experience at a reasonable price.
Less than 5£ taxi ride from train station. 20 minute walk to town center (bus and train depots).

A conveniently located hotel in the centre of Lausanne, especially if you are only staying for a day or two. 15 walk from the train station (although you need to be fit enough to walk up incredibly steep roads!). Situated on a relatively quiet shopping area, but not the nicest area of Lausanne. A great location however for jumping on the local buses, which take you directly to and from Ouchy (lake side). Friendly staff and locals made this a pleasant stay. Hotel doesn't look great from the outside but was very clean and comfortable. A great breakfast (with great views from the roof terrace), which will save you lots of money, in what is an incredibly expensive city to eat in. Would stay here again.

Very convenient to city centre

The location of the hotel is right in the heart of the old town which is very convenient to visit that part of Lausanne. The bad part is that it can be a little noisy, especially if the UEFA football championship final coincides with the night of your stay.
For a family of 4, the room was spacious and comfortable which is a rarity in my experience.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Beautiful city!

Hotel Crystal in Lausanne: Centrally located

I was extremely satisfied with the service, location, and amenities provided by Hotel Crystal in Lausanne, Switzerland. The rooms were clean, there were several computers available for internet access, and the location in the middle of the downtown area, just blocks away from the new M2 metro line, combined to make a remarkable stay. In addition, the breakfast served in the morning was easily the best breakfast I have ever had at any hotel, with fresh croissants, cheeses, sausages, eggs, and juices and jams. Breakfast was often a high point of the day. Overall, I would travel back here in a second.

Additionally, I met several guests that had actually grown up in Lausanne and were visiting friends, and they mentioned that they always stayed at Hotel Crystal for many of the same reasons. Even the locals use it!

I would strongly recommend this location to anyone interested in staying in the Lausanne area or needing a base of operations for exploring the canton of Vaud at their leisure.

old world charm in an old world neighborhood.

Don't stay at this hotel if you want a modern, slick establishment; this place is all about old world charm in an old fashioned setting. The views from the top stories, especially from the terrace during breakfast (which was very good), are gorgeous. The room was spacious, and was well-equipped to cope with the two small children accompanying me. The position is brilliant; just pop down the little laneway where the hotel is situated and you have gorgeous boutiques (and even a major department store) lining steep cobblestone alleyways. Charm, charm, charm. My only complaint is that the staff are not oozing friendliness, although they do deal with queries competently enough.

Great family hotel, we stayed in a 4 bedded room, double in one room & bunk bed in a separate room. The welcome was great, very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was enjoyable on the balcony.

A good stay -- location is very good, hotel is clean and in decent condition. Breakfast was very good. My only major complain is that the wireless internet charge is excessively expensive (30 CHF per day).

Value hotel in excellent location

A terrific location; Excellent shopping and dining nearby. 2 minute walk to the Riponne metro station gets you access to all of Lausanne. 10 steps from the hotel is the Co op store with a full grocery shop on the lower level, and a cafeteria style restaurant on the top floor with an amazing rooftop patio offering a million dollar view of the city.

Good value- would stay again

The hotel was good in service, convenience, location, and a good value. The breakfast also had a good variety of food. The room was pretty descent- nothing too fabulous- but clean and had everything you need. The check out time of noon was also nice and not too early!

Hotel Crystal with parking facility and breakfast

Very well located close to everything, with parking facility at a cost near by (quite difficult to find though).
Clean, quite,helpful and always smiling staff, nice breakfast, computer with printing facilities for the boarding pass.
