The Doubletree by Hilton is conveniently located at the end of the main historic district, so we could walk to restaurants and museums. The staff is friendly and the rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable.
We would definitely recommend staying at this hotel and visiting the beautiful city of Kosice Slovakia

The hotel was beautiful. The towels were so fluffy. I know that sounds silly, but I find most hotels in Europe have very thin and rough towels. These were luxurious. The room was nice and WiFi was good. Plug for US razors in the bathroom.

I stayed twice, two nights each time, and it was wonderful. The friendly staff was knowledgeable and multilingual, the restaurant was great, and the available complimentary cookies, fruit, water and lemonade was a thoughtful touch. It's such a convenient walk one direction to the Old Town historic district, and just one block the other direction to the modern shopping mall, food court and conveniences. Excellent hotel.

Despite being part of a well recognised international chain, this hotel struggles to steer from that all permeating, post-communism, Eastern European impression. The dark, oppressively gloomy reception and bar area feel anything but inviting and bar one or two guests, it’s very much a ghost town. Which was surprising considering I was told the hotel was fully booked and as such they were unable to offer me a room on one of the higher floors. So I woke up to a strong smell of fried breakfast at 5am, presumably coming from the casino below?
Unlike the wonderfully friendly serving staff at breakfast, the ladies at the reception desk were somewhat cooler in their interactions.
Speaking of breakfast, it was everything one might expect from the standard European selection, with freshly made pancakes a very nice bonus. You certainly won’t struggle to find a table as only three or four were occupied during my visit on both days.
The room was tiny and the entire stay felt overpriced for the quality of the hotel. Cleanliness was 5*. The biggest surprise was a nasty office chair in my room covered in stains.
As for the positives, the hotel is decidedly in best location in town - the Main Street with the amazing cathedral, fantastic restaurants and cafes and easy access to transport makes the stay very convenient.
Worth noting that if you order anything from the restaurant into your room, the hotel will charge you extra 6 Euros for the privilege, which was a first for me!

Location was great, the room was clean and comfortable, and comfortable bed.
We had one issue with the hotel having only one elevator working, the other out of service, and us being on the ninth floor it was difficult to use to stairs and we had to wait for the elevator a loooong time each time.

One of the best hotels in Kosice

Whenever I travel to Kosice, I stay at the Doubletree on Hlavna Ulica. The hotel is in the former Slovan Hotel from the socialist era; however, the building was gutted and renovated and out to western standards.

Rooms are always clean and have a contemporary design with a comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom.

The staff is friendly and always very helpful.

Overall the staff and convenience were as usual for the standard we have come to appreciate at Hilton and doubletree by Hilton in various countries.
Staff esp.front desk are a great asset to your organisation and always presents a courteous, friendly and approachable demeanour which makes guest stays and queries we may have a pleasant experience.
I lost a silver bracelet during our stay and your staff are kindly keeping a lookout if it ever resurfaces.
On the ‘cons’
Was not safe the parking was chargeable but perhaps it was in small print on the hotel.com site.
Minor fixtures in the room (shower door handle kept falling off, the soap holder in the shower cubicle was hanging, TV power went off like it has crashed a few times.

Great location, convenient for the historic town centre, right next to a modern mall (Aupark). Good transport links - bus, tram, rail. 10 mins from Moldavska business park, 15 mins from the airport.

Great 4**** hotel in Hearth of the city !

Great stay, hotel is located in the Hearth of the city centre of Kosice. Commen areas very good and relaxing. The rooms are in very good conditions. The only negative is the breakfast, the pastries were old and dry, not tasty at all. Whey asked something the restaurant staff was annoyed and not helpful whatsoever but this behaviour for Slovakian's is normal as most of the people have no idea wha does it mean to a good service, and to do something good for custome. Reception staff was nice and helpful. Overall it was good stay. I stayed in this propert several times.

Well located, smart and modern hotel

Smart modern hotel right in the heart of the City. We booked 3 x basic twin rooms which were a decent size and had a sort of walk-in wardrobe which meant lots of space to hang clothes etc. All the sights, bars and restaurants are within easy walking distance. We didn't eat at the hotel but we did have some drinks in the bar which was a bit on the expensive side compared to the rest of the city but that is to be expected. I would certainly stay here again.

Great rooms and amenities, wonderfully kind and helpful staff, good gym, good location. I felt guilty paying so little for an experience better than most $200 Hilton-like hotels in most of the world.

Took very basic, shower only, very small. More Business hotel.

Kosice

Staff was extremely helpful and friendly except the woman that checked us in. We just avoided her during our stay, so we were okay. Nice, updated rooms. Huge bathroom. Beds have very hard mattresses and was hard not to flood bathroom floor when taking shower. Breakfast was good. Great location.

hotel charged for breakfast about $16.00. Have never stayed at a hotel in America or Eastern Europe where I was charged for breakfast. I was never told this. Would have bought food and stored in the refrigerator. Hotel is TOO MODERN. Never figured out how to work the stupid buttons for the lights - 3 sets of them. Not enough English channels. Hotel in Michalovce beats them for English news channels. Why have a tub?? It is dangerous for senior citizens. Took a while to figure out how to regulate the hot and cold water. The former SLOVAN hotel was better than this place., Don't want to stay there again.

Great stay at the old town

the staff was amazing and helpful and the free cookies at the check in was yummy. the room was spacious enough but definetely not 28sqm big as advertised.
The location is right at the old town, easy to go places and plenty of restaurants. The hotel restaurant offer good value for money with delicious food

Easy and comfortable

Staff was friendly. The room was very comfortable and clean. It was small, but since I was traveling by myself, it just felt cozy. The sauna area was very nice and relaxing. The fitness center was never crowded and had sufficient equipment for whatever you're needing to work-out. I ate breakfast at the hotel every morning. It was a bit spendy but worth it with a large selection of really good food and beverage and a very nice dining area.

Great hotel located in the city center.

Overall great hotel. Close to everything in the city center. Staff was pleasant. Rooms were clean.
A few minor things should be addressed however. Difficult to get the right temperature in room. Exercise room needs some attention to repairs and basic maintenance. Food served off of the warming tables at breakfast were barely warm and cold on many days. The spa room had \"relaxing music\" blaring on several nights. Way too loud to be relaxing.

Local construction makes hotel hard to find & check in. Rooms are small but adequate. Bath / shower very high & hard to get in & out Shower door leaves smooth marble floor wet & dangerous to get out with a 2 ft. step down. Food was great at included breakfast

A western oasis in eastern Slovakia

Traveling through eastern Slovakia it makes sense to stay in the centre of Kosice where you have some good historical sites, restaurants and hotels. While I wasn't looking to stay at a chain hotel, the Hilton room was at a good price and was very well appointed. The room was modern and a nice bit of comfort that isn't always found in that part of Slovakia. Parking is next door in a multi-level parkade. Many good restaurants nearby as well as St. Elisabeth Cathedral. Safe, comfortable, quiet and central. Recommend.
