The apartment is very well maintained has a fridge and cutlery, a microwave.
Close to the harbour.
Easy accessibility to the room with the code.
Many restaurants near by if you want to eat outside. Bonus and Kronos is also walking distance. Staff did respond and allowed me early check in because of the weather.

Price is indicative of property. We self checked in with a code but staff was responsive via Expedia messaging. They upgraded us to a Deluxe room with a microwave, which was appreciated. There is no staff onsite. The property was recently updated but it's modest; the towels are past their useful life and the dishes and cutlery had not been washed properly.

The property did not meet our expectations for the following reasons:
1) There was no free parking available between 4pm and 10am, unlike what the property description said. They sent us an email saying they have free parking at a certain place opposite our apartment, but when we went there the parking was already full, so clearly they have less spaces available than they have apartments, and it's first come first served, so we had to park in the P2 area which is not free.
2) The walls are too thin and we could hear a lot of noise coming from the neighbour unit waking us up very early in the morning
3) The bathroom light is sensor-activated, but once it's on, it will stay on for a good 20 minutes with no way of switching it off. This can be very annoying when someone is trying to sleep. Even closing the bathroom door doesn't always help and a lot of light comes through in the bedroom anyway.
4) The two \"bedrooms\" (i.e. the proper bedroom and the living room with a sofa bed) are connected at the top (the wall between them is only 2/3 high compared to the ceiling) so there is also zero sound insulation between the two sleeping areas.

We had a good 2 night stay in February, and enjoyed the facilities provided. The insulation of the room wasn’t fantastic and we woke up with puddles of water on the window seal. This must be a recurring issue as there was some mould on the curtains.

These apartments have potential to be perfect but lacking minor things that ruin your stay. Firstly, great it offers parking with it being central, good location with plenty of things surrounding to eat, explore and shop. Easy check in (emailed to you prior but no one about should you have any problems). First impression - apartment large, great facilities, comfortable and everything you needed should you decide not to go out. Large bathroom with walk on shower, sofa and tv, dining table, fridge, microwave etc. however quickly noticed how dirty it was. Crumbs all over the counter and in drawers, sink dirty, bathroom around toilet filthy, cupboard door missing, screw on floor and one in cupboard, towels solid, small and had a funny smell so we used our own.

Nice place but a few things to be aware of

The rooms themselves were fine, and modern, but we got kicked off the wifi hours before the checkout time of 11 am. Also the walking areas surrounding the property and parking lot were littered with garbage and the exterior of the building looked low-rent. Nice place overall, but building management need to do a little more work on a few things.

Disappointing Stay in Akureyi

Parking situation wasn’t as advertised - I had to park on the street, and the room was extremely bare bones. I ended up bringing my own towels into the room since only one was provided. Was in a good location and was pretty clean, but otherwise a disappointing, uncomfortable stay. I was glad I only booked one night at the place.

We enjoyed our one-night stay at Lava Apartments. Very clean and easy to access from the main road (with free parking). The hosts emailed our access code, which worked fine. Room was large and clean and very comfortable. Right in the heart of Akureyri. Would definitely visit again.

The pillowcase was dirty, hair remained on the bedsheet. The electric pot also had water left, so it was uncomfortable to use. There were four lights on the ceiling of the living area, only one was normal, one was missing, and the other was gloomy, and the other was blink, so the whole light was not available to use.

The room I got was a loft ( slanted ceiling). I am a taller person, so this was not convenient. The mini fridge was located in the low slant of the room. The shower is extremely tight. You could only open one of the doors partial way because it hit the sink.
We did not receive a bath mat. There was a hot water kettle in the room, but the lid was broken so it would not stay closed during boiling or pouring. This is a burn hazard.
Unknowingly, the coffee cup I used had a crack in it and my coffee leaked all over the top of the nightstand. What a delight. There was no sugar included in the coffee basket. And only two packets of crappy instant coffee. All of the doors to all the rooms slam. No one works the front desk because everything is automated now, so none of my complaints could be addressed and resolved.

Great location in Akureyri. Contact-less check-in, you are sent the information by email before you arrive. There is parking at the back of the building but you need to carry your luggage around as there is no direct access from the parking lot. Large room, well appointed. Kitchen with microwave, lots of places to hang your stuff. Easy to walk to restaurants, bars and cafes in the town center. We stayed two nights and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Great location, walk-able to stores and eateries. Our room was very small. Only one window in the roof-it did open and if you were on the side of the bed by the wall you could not stand up straight due to the sloping ceiling. You had to walk stooped over to the end of the bed to stand up. We looked in the open doors of the other rooms and they did not have this same problem. I would stay here again but not in this room.

Lava apartments was centrally located in Akureyri, easy to find and within walking distance of many restaurants and the harbour. There was free parking behind the building. The apartment was small but comfortable and very clean. The building and apartment locked with a code, so felt very secure. When we arrived, the company answered the phone immediately to give us our room code. We were not able to adjust the heating and found our room very hot. Overall, it was a good, central place to stay while we explored Akureyri.

One of the worse hotel I’ve ever been ! And for the price I’ve paid 144 Euro, you could do much better. This is self check in hotel, no staff is available on the premises. We booked a twin room. It was on the 2nd floor with no elevator. Was not mentioned in the site. The room is new but so tiny, there was a twin bed, a folded chair, tiny refrigerator in a hall in the wall and a tiny shower. No place even to put our luggage. It was a room under the roof so even to go to my side of the bed was impossible.

Self-serve check-in is great and easy. Room is clean and cozy. When window is closed, the room is very quiet.

But since there is nobody at the counter at night or in very early morning (when we go out for tours), it is relatively hard to find somebody to help if needed - e.g. extra towels, blankets, shower gel (we got nothing when arrived so we used the hand-washing soap instead), etc. The hand washing tub is very small. It is better to have some shelves for us to put stuff on.

Told to park behind the building. Part the dirt lot was an alley, part had a no parking tow away zone. Only safe place to park was directly behind the building & the 3 cars there took up all the space. Had to park in a tiny weed patch behind the business next door between alley and fence, worried all night about being side swiped or towed away. Requested a room that did not require stairs to get to so they put us in the attic requiring many stairs to get to. We could only stand up in less than half of this very small room. No window, only way to get air into the room was to open the skylight. If open & it rained anyone on the bed would get wet & it did rain. Very uncomfortable all night. Very small bathroom. Only two bath towels & one of them looked like it had been used. No hand towels or wash clothes. No soap in the dispenser. Phone number on booking confirmation was 2 years out of date. Former owner said he sold out 2 years prior. Only positive were the 2 folding chairs in the room. Cannot imagine how anyone would consider this an apartment.

Very comfortable apartment unit in the center of Akureyri, and it’s really close to everything! You can walk and see the town from there with no need of driving, the restaurants and shops are very close. It’s a self check-In apartment building. The parking is all the way in the back so you need to walk around the buildings to get in which might be confusing if you arrive at night.
