This was a very comfortable stay for our last night in Iceland. The room was a little small compared to some of our other hotels, but we had a big surprise when we opened the door at the window to find we had the fourth floor balcony that looked out over the city. That was a huge plus and a very nice surprise. The breakfast was one of the best we had at any of our hotels. The staff was very courteous and friendly. I’d say the only downside was the they didn’t have any conditioner in the bathroom. Which overall isn’t a big deal, but this was our only hotel over the week that didn’t include that in their bathroom, which would’ve been nice.

Check-in was busy, parking garage is great no scraping windscreen, bed and pillows comfortable, although overall room size was a bit small, struggled with room size and suitcases etc, bathroom toilet roll not in best place kept knocking it off, no controllable heat, only a fan available no heat, breakfast was fantastic lots choice fruit, waffles, skyr, chia pudding toast etc. good location for closeness to many attractions

This was our first stay of our trip. Our room was ready early, which was very much appreciated. A big bonus for this hotel is the parking. We were able to easily park our rental and then walk around the area. The staff was great and the breakfast was much better than expected.

I loved this hotel! Everything that you needed and more when you’re in Iceland! Location was perfect, close enough to downtown to walk a couple blocks and be right in the center of the city but just far enough out to be not in a crazy part too. Also very close to bus pick up locations for all excursions! The parking lot being attached and breakfast included was perfect for long days touring around. Staff was extremely helpful and nice whenever anything was needed from questions about Iceland to talking at the bar. Only downside of the hotel was the walls seemed very small - for example you could hear the noise from doors closing in the hallways from other people as well as cars/busses in the street if you have a street room, besides that I would 100% stay here again when I come back!

The stay here was perfect. The hotel is close to the main shopping street (if that rocks your boat) as well as within walking distance of the harbour, concert hall, the Hallgrimskirkja and the darker bay area for watching the Northern Lights.
The rooms are comfortable and spacious with an excellent shower. One of the real highlights is the breakfast. Superb variety: muesli, granola, crèpes you can make yourself, lovely breads and pastries, porridge, coffee, fruit juices etc. The garage for car parking is free and under the hotel so when it's minus 5 outside your car is protected from the frost.
Wouldn't hesitste to recommend.

Hotel is located right at the start of the Main Street with restaurants. Good location.
Room is cold. I didnt feel the heater on. I think the hotel is a bit old already. Breakfast selection not as great as Storm hotel.
Excellent location to bus stop 9 and eateries though.
Overall hotel has a dark and dim concept.

This is like a motel 6 in quality and staff. The rooms are tiny. Staff is not helpful and some simply ignore your question as though you are not speaking to them. Breakfast is very crowded (we had to wait for a table) and supposedly available until 10:00. They began removing food at 9:30. Coffee was the only item on the breakfast offering at 9:55 and it was removed promptly at 10:00.

Lastly, this hotel is about 3/4 mile away from where you want to be.

Location was good. Free parking was rarely available. Breakfast was average, Kea property in Selfoss was excellent, so we were disappointed. Everything is painted gray and black and very dark. Not appealing at all and very run down. Bathroom was clean but very small. Shower has no door and too small for that. Water everywhere. Hotel needs a face lift and new furniture etc.

The hotel sends out an email message before arrival asking about room maintenance i.e. whether you want the room \"made up\" or not. We indicated that we wanted our beds made every day - that was totally ignored. After complaining at the lobby desk for the two following nights, we finally got the room done on the third night. In other words, the room was not cleaned three of the four days and only receiving new towels once. The room decor was very spartan with little or no normal hotel accommodations such as shelving, comfortable chairs, amenities, decent lighting, safe. Even the television on the wall was positioned poorly as it was parallel to the length of the bed. The reception desk staff was pleasant but none of our requests had any impact e.g. room cleaning, failed to make \"wake-up\" call, did not fix broken ceiling lamp. The shower stall was open concept with no enclosure such as a shower curtain or door - water sprayed all over. The breakfast was generally good but with little hot food available. The hotel location was central. In general, both the room and the hotel standards were not reflective of the high hotel price.

The property was nice and clean. The breakfast had good options and was delicious. My only complaint is having to use the key for power. I don't like the door having an alarm and making me feel like a criminal just for opening it. Sometimes I need to charge some electronics during the day when I'm gone and I can't do that there. Guests pay a premium to stay there. It's not right to be stingy with the power. Also, fridge might be nice too.

This hotel is up to the standards of other Keahotels in Iceland. Just fantastic!!!! You know you are getting quality. The room was spacious, the bed sheets cozy and soft, clean room, and even a fan. We had a shared balcony across the floor outside from our room with fantastic views. I could see the church all lit up at night laying in bed. The breakfast was amazing with lots of selections. But even more important to me was parking in the city. They had a large garage to park in which was an amazing find in the city and the reason I stayed here. It was really nice to be out of the rain when we arrived and to repack our car and luggage in a covered space. Its right in the heart of downtown and walkable to all the shops and church.

Nice place and good location, just around corner from one of the main tour bus stops (number 9 stop). Great breakfast. The only thing is, no USB port for charging your phone. So if you’re coming from the US, bring an adapter for the Euro style round plugs.

The location of Skuggi was good and we really liked the underground parking as well as the buffet breakfast. We were disappointed that they did not provide conditioner for your hair or body lotion. If I had known, I would've brought my own. Also, I was not aware that there is no A/C and the room was very warm. There was only a very tiny window very high up that you could open and it did not provide any relief. My friend stayed on the top floor and had a balcony and a large door you could open. Her room was more expensive, but she thoroughly enjoyed it. If you stay here, do not take the cheapest room.

We stayed one night at Skuggi before boarding a cruise. The hotel was fantastic, from the ease of storing our luggage until check-in time to the delightful breakfast in the morning. The staff provided us with restaurant recommendations, a city map, and got a taxi to the port for us. Our room was very comfortable and clean. We are considering returning to Reykjavik and will likely stay at Skuggi again.

definitely family friendly. We did not know the layout of Reykjavic when booking but this one is right next to bus stops 9 (frequent pickup for many tour operators) and on bus stop 7 for the hop on hop off bus, as well as about 20 mins walk to the harbor where the whaling and puffin tours take off from, and one block from the stretch of street that has all the shopping. Location is extremely convenient, and we messaged them prior our visit and they assisted us with booking travel to and from the airport. We arrived prior check in time and they were able to store our luggage. The staff at the desk all speak english and are so patient. The rooms are tidy and all we needed especially with the fabulous location, just know that the small beds (there are different bed options) are slightly tiny but you can fit an adult with a snuggling toddler on one if you need to. The rooms stay a comfortable temperature and you may just need light pajamas as you have a small window that opens but they provide a fan. They have amazing blackout curtains so you do not even need eye masks to sleep even with the long daylight hours. The shower has heated drying racks for rained on clothes. included breakfast has a waffle bar and was a great start to the day. very quiet even with kids, and within walking to playgrounds, food, and shopping.

The room we got was on the sunny side of the building. In the summer with daylight all day, the room was very hot and stuffy. The room was very small and no airway flow, it was very hot to stay there and very hard to sleep because of that. The room was dusty and they could use better towels. The breakfast although was very good.

Staff are very helpful, they offer me a help to contact my tour guide to rest assured my pick up location is clear so I won’t miss it.

However, I’m a large person and larger or multiple bath towels would have been nice. Admittedly I didn’t ask. Only one night stay. Convenient and quiet with harbor view.

Older property. Weird restaurant hours. It said happy hour 4-6pm, but restaurant wasn’t open even at 5pm.

Only a shared balcony with other units, and that balcony door is the only access point to outside air. It gets hot in the afternoon sun. They did provide a fan. Overall, an ok hotel, just needs a new coat if paint and consistence restaurant hours.

The free regular coffee provided in the morning was terrible. Other places we stayed in Iceland provided espresso and other drinks free of charge, but Skuggi charged extra for these. The room overlooked the street and was noisy. This was a particular problem because there was no way to control the very hot temperature in the room other than using the venting window. A fan was provided, but after depositing luggage, there was limited room for the fan. The counter under the bathroom sink was plywood and showed a lot of water damage. The location and parking were great and with the exception of the coffee, the rest of the breakfast buffet was pretty good. Good wifi. The staff were helpful when we needed computer and printer access.
