This hotel is attached to the restaurant where they are staffed to answer any questions. The rooms were modern but very small. The lighting was also very dark, not bad just something to note. It was cozy but it can be loud as it is right beside the busy shopping district/street. Parking is also just street parking so pay/at your own risk. Breakfast was nice & healthy.

Hotel is in the best location in Akureyri. The room I got was outdated and needs renovation, bed was comfortable though. Bar/check inn staff was not very helpful. Bed was never made for the 3 nights I stayed at the hotel. In my opinion the experience would have been way better if management was better.

The breakfast was decent, Id just hit up one of the bakeries instead.
The staff was nice and accommodating.
You are downtown with all kinds of dining options within walking distance.
I'd stay here again for sure.

This hotel is very clean and cozy. There is a nice restaurant downstairs, also very cozy... The type of place that a person would feel perfectly comfortable eating alone in. There is also a beautiful bar and lounge area at the back of the property.

Friendly staff, great location in the heart of the city. When I return I would not even consider staying anywhere else.

We booked this property last minute due to a road washout on the ring road in the direction we were supposed to go. Was a pretty good room, lots of options for food close by, the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Only downside was lots of noise from traffic and people, but that's to be expected in downtown.

Room was comfortable but sound proofing was limited - we could hear a lot of noise coming from other guests. Expedia marks this hotel as including parking - this is untrue. There is ample parking nearby but you will have to walk a block or two and pay for it weekdays between 10-16.

One of the pricier places we stayed on our trip and it had the fewest amenities. There was no TV, drinking glasses of any kind, no hair dryer and get this, low on toilet paper. Space in the room is limited. I don't recall any shampoo but there was a single hand cleaner at the sink. We expected at least the usual things offered by a hotel, considering what we paid.
We left sad.

I’d probably call this more a fancy hostel than a hotel. Check-in was at the bar next door. The room was small with a tiny window and a loud fan outside. Walls were really thin. Could easily hear conversations next door. Bathroom floor under the sink not clean. Bed was fine. No coffee - there was a communal kitchen but no mugs. They did have washer and dryer but the washer failed on the spin cycle on one of two loads.

The check in place was also a bar(weird) so they were busy and we had to wait, then they put us in the ‘new part’ of the hotel which had tight room and poor air flow. We couldn’t find cups or air dryer which later they said were in some drawer. WiFi didn’t work. We called twice but not much help. Overall there wasn’t much care in the whole setting or service for the guests. Location is good for walking around but not quiet as our room facing the Main Street. it was a very unpleasant experience.

I asked the staff at the restaurant (where you check in and where the WiFi is coming from I believe) and they didn’t have any advice for me.

The hotel is in a great location in Akureyri. Lots of cafes, restaurants and sight seeing options around. However, the room felt was very small and felt claustrophobic. The TV in our room had no internet connectivity so we could not watch anything, and the cable only had 4 channels. If you're looking to just have a place to sleep for the night but no other comforts, this will work. Otherwise, I'd recommend staying somewhere else,

There is no receptionist. You get your key card from the cashier in the restaurant. The room did not match the picture in the advertisement. The queen bed was very comfortable but it was surrounded on 3 sides by walls. My wife has to climb over me to get to the bathroom. There is no desk, TV, night stands or even an elevator. The room has wood floors but housekeeping never sweep under the bed. You can see hair, dust and residue from previous guest. In all our travels, this was one of the worst.

Check-in: The process was smooth and easy. Although the elevator wasn’t available at the time, the staff kindly assisted us with our luggage, which we appreciated.
Room: The room did not have a kettle, coffee, or tea, which we’ve usually found in other hotels. There was also no heater, which might be inconvenient during winter. During our stay, the room felt warmer than expected — even with the window open and the small electric fan provided, it was still uncomfortable, as the fan wasn’t quite effective.

I'm not sure what happened here, but upon arrival, the hotel did not have a room for me. They had my information from Expedia, but no longer had a room available. I received messages from the hotel a few days earlier with check in instructions and everything, which led me to believe everything was in order. The clerk checking me in said it was an issue at Expedia and attempted to call them, but said that the message stated that they were \"closed\". I only had wifi service so couldn't place calls myself. I did the only thing I could and booked a last minute room at Hotel Kea (just around the block) for a significantly higher price. Thankfully they were able to check me in upon arrival!

Upon reporting my issues to Expedia when I arrived home, they attempted to reach out to the hotel for a refund and their response to me stated verbatim \"even though it was a non-refundable booking, I pushed for more flexibility and they decided to approve your refund.\" Excuse me? I prepaid for a room months ago, it was not available upon arrival at 5pm on the day of my booking, and Expedia had to \"push for flexibility\" to get a refund? Honestly I think they should have had to offer a refund plus the difference that I was forced to pay to rebook at the other hotel. I would not recommend this hotel based on this experience. Be careful when booking this hotel!

No staff members were friendly at all, and I interacted with quite a few. No bad interactions; however, I have gotten used to the kindness of everyone in Iceland…and this was not it. The walls were thin, so I heard someone in another room snoring. The hotel didn’t seem to be completely full; however, I was still put at the top of the stairs where everyone passed by my room (and there weren’t many people, so why not put me somewhere else? Preferably away from the snorer…?).

Great location. While I was here they were transitioning into some newly acquired space. Getting around the property was a little odd but of course this will be temporary. We arrived late (maybe around 11pm) and you check in at the restaurant downstairs on the first floor. We were told we were the last guests to arrive, but the hostess was very kind and luckily they had an elevator to our 4th floor room. The room was nice, modern, and the kitchenette even had an oven. After staying our previous 4 nights in small towns or remote rooms, it was fun to see a nightlife on a Saturday night in Akureyri, with lots of people still on the streets as we were checking in. You have to park in the large lot behind the place and walk to it, but it was fine. We attended church Sunday morning at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and it was right next door and wonderful.

Nice room, comfortable bed. Bathroom floor was not as clean as it could be with hair still there. Room is above a bar that can be loud but everything pretty much shuts down at about 11pm so it doesn't go on too long. Early morning construction is very loud too but may be done by summer. There is no parking out front as it's the pedestrian street but the lot behind is very close. They will ticket you moments after the parking times start so beware. Convenient location to shops and dining.

Last load in dryer by 9pm. Parking is free on the street in front until 10am. Would recommend this place.

We loved that our hotel was just above a restaurant/bar, which made it very convenient for a quick bite. It was never at all noisy. The hotel is centrally located. We could walk to everything we need within 5 - 10 minutes. The room had a small kitchen area, with a little oven, utensils, sink and dishes. And the bed! The most comfortable I have seen in a hotel!

This was a very, very basic hotel. I chose it for the laundry facilities, but the electricity to the washer and dryer didn’t work. One of the staff managed to put the washer into another plug, and it worked. I dried my clothes over the heater in the room.

This was a cute little hotel. More like a guest house over a restaurant. The room was lovely and the bathroom decent and clean. There is a shared kitchenette and small lounge area on each floor for guests.

The guesthouse is above a cute restaurant with delicious food, and in the main area of Akureyri, so it was very walkable to other restaurants and shops. Parking was easy across the street from the hotel as well and staff were friendly and efficient.

There were two small windows and we kept the closed as their were no screens in them and we did not no if bugs were an issue in this area.

Took us half hour to figure where the hotel was. It is not easy to check in. Better instructions needed.

Just tell customers park their car on the street and walk to restaurant/bar to check in.

I had to ask the bar attendant who could help me to check in. Kind of being ignored since they awere serving their customers who were eating or drinking. It was strange to find checking in processing was in the hotel restaurant.

Not a bad hotel. Clean and modern, but basic, not much more to it than the room. It is in the middle of downtown so it’s centrally located to a lot of shopping and walkable attractions like the botanical garden. Parking is a paid lot behind the hotel, except free on weekends. The road in front of the hotel is closed to traffic so you do have to roll your bags a short walk.

The property was on an extremely noisy street where drunk people were screaming all night long. Curtains were not wide enough to block the light at a time when the sun hardly sets, so it was hard to sleep. There was no parking, in fact the street was closed to vehicles. We had to park in a public parking lot and had to walk with a lot of luggage to get there. Entrance was through a bar! It was extremely weird for us with kids and suitcases walking through a bar full of people drinking and relaxing! Room was too small and with sofa bed pulled out there was no space to walk. Horrible and overpriced!

Inflexible when access roads closed

We were in Iceland in June and had booked this hotel on a non refundable basis as we intended to travel the ring road.
We were travelling anti clockwise and had arrived in Hofn when the roads North were closed. There was an unseasonal storm across the North and the roads out of Hofn were all closed. The road South reopened first so we decided to head back west as the roads North were going to be closed a while. We had no way of getting to the hotel but they refused to refund us. Whilst I accept that this was their prerogative as I had not paid for flexibility, our cancellation was not our fault and we would have gone to the hotel had the roads been open and allowed it. I hoped that the hotel would have been a little more flexible given the unseasonal nature of the snow storms. They lacked empathy. A refund (full or partial) or a transfer of the booking to another city would have been lovely. I understand I paid for a non refundable room but when the roads are closed and you cant physically get there, a compromise would be welcome.
I tried not to rate the cleanliness etc but this review would not be published without me doing so. I have no idea how good the cleanliness and condition is.
