None of the clocks in the loft was set to the correct time; they were all different (attention to detail). However, there was a small card with a QR code to tip someone who never came. The online description indicated a gym, and a sign stated that a gym was nearby, but it didn't specify where.

Keep in mind when booking there are no laundry facilities in unit or building, no pool, no front desk, no snack/drink counter or restaurant attached, and no shuttle service from airport. You get a furnished loft with basic toiletries, cooking gear, table/drinkware, and dish tv. There is definitely a sense of \"things left to be desired\" especially for the pricing. I expected itinerary ideas, restaurant suggestions, etc. But none of that was available or offered.

This was our second stay at the Docents Collection and we will definitely stay here again. There was a very minor inconvenience with the freezer door - it didn't close all the way so all the ice was melted into one blob and we had to go out to get ice.

Nice apartment..no staff to help with the facility. Convenient to walk around Portland. It can be confusing to use the FLEXIPASS at first and to make sure you have also signed up for parking if you need it. Next time I would stay close to the water and at a hotel so I have more guest services. The staff was nice when I called to get help but I prefer on-site help. Also, it has a few stairs to get into the apartment building. Overall the building and facility is very clean and nice.

We had a great stay here as a family with young kids. These are really apartments, not like a hotel. We happily traded the daily cleaning and front-desk services of a traditional hotel for the beautiful space we got here! Despite this being a fully electronic check-in experience, everything was seamless and actually probably faster than in-person check in. The apartment unit itself was spacious and beautiful. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. We loved being able to prepare a couple meals “at home” and the food coop is just a short walk away to grab groceries. Parking was simple and right next door (self-parking, no waiting for valet!), and we were thrilled there was an accessible EV charger. We would definitely stay here again.

Unfortunately, the system hotel created didn't work. the cleaning staffs kept knocking our door at 11am (normal check-out time). Even I told them that I paid for the extension hour to check out. They still kept coming back to knock the door multiple times.

Fantastic place to stay when visiting Portland. The location can't be beat -- within a couple of blocks to the ferry terminal and Old Town shops and restaurants. The building is next to a police station and my family and I felt very safe. The unit was immaculate, modern, and fully equipped. Onsite parking was a huge bonus, as was the friendly and helpful staff. I would, without hesitation, stay at The Docent's Collection again.

Honestly the only negative was the parking situation - the alley was sketchy at night and there are not a lot of available spaces. The parking and check in process was different from a normal hotel because it was all electronic with your key being downloaded on an app. First time I did it this way, so it was a bit of a learning curve. You have to download an app in order to enter the property, I did not know this and when I called to get assistance from the person at the front desk. Which by the way, I have no idea where that is because I never saw one person. He was rather abrupt and condescending and kept telling you what I needed to do and telling me to calm down. I wasn't not calm. I just had to really go to the restroom. I wish they would put something like that on their website when you're trying to book. If it was there I did not say it. The room itself was very nice and very clean, but as far as the customer service it lacked and left a lot to be desired. Teach your people at the front desk to be a little bit more. Customer friendly.. instead of telling people to calm down and when they ask where the front desk is to continuously ignore them. Instead of explaining how the location works. I will never stay here again.

The apartment is fine, though dark for my tastes, but everything is clean and well decorated. The problem for us is how insanely complicated everything is. The check in involved downloading an app and complicated directions that had significant gaps in information. I am fairly tech savvy, but I still had problems. The staff I spoke to on the phone and with whom I exchanged texts couldn’t have been more lovely and accommodating. But the check in system really needs to be rethought. And in addition to the complexity it relies too heavily on one’s iPhone. But things can go wrong with iPhones. My husband I both wondered what would have happened if my phone wasn’t properly charged, for instance.
The temperature controls were also needlessly complex. In stead of enjoying our first hour here, we were wrestling with technology. The whole experience has been much too stressful. Right now I am trying to find check out instructions among the large number of texts and e-mails I’ve received.

It was awesome! Amazing bed and blackout blinds — I slept like s baby. Located right in the heart of the Old Port, I walked everywhere once I parked. Parking was right beside the building and very safe right next to the Police parking lot. Building was clean and quaint. It had a lot of historical character, but the studio was modern, clean, and efficient. I was nervous because I am used to staying in hotels with staff, but Grace and team were reassuring — keyless key and all went seamlessly. Also, 121 Middle Street is only a 5 minute drive from Wholefoods and F45, Orange Theory, and Cycle gyms, so I got healthy groceries and an awesome workout too. I wanted to move in and will definitely stay there again. Thank you.

Our unit was exceptionally quiet. It was very nicely furnished. The bathroom was especially nice with an excellent shower. The location was very good and was only a short walk to many fine restaurants and shops. We paid for the private parking which was well worth the extra money. The assigned “docent” was very helpful and responsive. I can recommend the Docent’s Collection without reservation!

The checkin process is needlessly laborious, requiring you to download an app. However, my largest complaint was with the tiny bed and extremely loud water noise. I am usually a really deep sleeper, but I have never encountered a room that became so loud any time someone in the property used water.

Great place. Very Weird Check in- please no -for the most part you are on your own - no front desk - no bellman - no valet. You need an app and a “ code” to open the front door and get in your room. Very much la smart phone driven experience. The place and location are wonderful - the process in hospitality - not so sure about.
