I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel; however, there were a few areas that could be improved.

The biggest letdown was the gym. The machines are very old, many barely work, and some are rusty. Some cable carabiners were too small and corroded, which felt unsafe when using heavier weights. The carpet was also extremely dirty and heavily stained.

The rooms were decent overall, although there was a minor water leak from the ceiling. Despite this, I extended my stay as I really enjoyed the sea view room, although it required an additional upgrade fee.

On the positive side, the facilities were good. The swimming pools were clean and inviting, and the hotel grounds were well maintained with plenty of areas to relax. The staff were excellent—polite, helpful, and welcoming throughout. There are also many nearby restaurants, shops, and street food options.

The beach stretched for around 800 metres, with a rocky section at one end. A bridge led to another area, but it was closed due to aggressive monkeys in the area.

Getting around was easy using local taxis via the Grab app, with the nearest town about 10–12 minutes away. There’s plenty to see there, including an art street and modern shopping malls.

The total cost was around £120 per night including the upgrade. While slightly high, it felt reasonable for the view, though the gym was disappointing.

Overall, it’s still the best hotel in the area, and I would stay again.

Very good excellent. From room service to the kitchen every one was brilliant and the service given was unbelievable it was like personal service. Chef Arif what a chef. Always eveready for any help and explanation on every recipe on the table. Lounge supervisor Hana what a person was always available for any help. At the front desk mr Mohammad what a gentleman help us in every way and also his colleague mr shafiek what a gentleman. All this people named and also some of them which I don’t know their names were excellent. All of them went way beyond their way to give us an excellent stay. If I can give 100 stars that will still not enough. Loved it.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Staff were fantastic, very quick and efficient service. Room was spacious with a lovely view. Food was delicious, the beef rendang was the best I've had. Pools lovely and right on the beach. My only complaint was that the room above us kept dragging furniture around till 2am and then started again at 6am. I would suggest putting felt pads on the bottom of the furniture to avoid disturbing rooms below. Apart from that the stay was fantastic and we would definitely stay again.

The hotel has a great location, just in front of a very nice beach. The room is quite clean but a bit dated. We could see some scratches on the wall and dirty areas under the sink. The room doesn’t have good sound proof as we can hear people walking, talking on the corridor and can hear sound from the next door room while staffs are cleaning the room. However, it was quiet at night so we can sleep well.
Staffs are efficiency at the lobby and offer discount for breakfast which is nice. Breakfast was ok, many options with beach view. You can enjoy the stunning sunrise on the beach and walk along the beach in the early morning which was the best thing I enjoy at the resort. Overall, it was still a wonderful get away trip with Hyatt

Had a good vacation time. checking in was efficiently done by Fadzlina, staff at the reception and to compensate the room was not ready, the hotel gave us free dining while waiting. Not waiting that long though haha. Overall attentive staffs, it was the school holiday season, breakfast was full seating but they tried to accommodate everyone efficiently. Room had nice view of the ocean as i requested. Will come again to this hotel.

The receptionist Fadzilah was very sweet and allowed us to check in early and though we booked for garden view ,she gave us a pool and sea view room.
The breakfast on 18/9 was quite a disappointment, the salt shaker had no salt!!! The orange juice was watered down. Luckily we didn’t have to pay for it as the breakfast was delayed .
The ala carte dinner at Kampung was sub standard.

Absolutely love the Kuantan Hyatt. The team are excellent. Thank you to Emma and all the team. We had the breakfast buffet every day, had Merdeka Dinner at the Coals restaurant by the beach. The boys loved both pools, particularly having a mocktail at the pool bar. Thank you, the rooms were up to date and modern.

Slight downside: Showers were not hot enough and there was a little convincing we had to do on checkout that the taxes had been prepaid, otherwise a top top experience. Emma was really caring and went out of her way.

Very well located hotel for the beach. Reception staff are very welcoming and helpful. Nice rooms facing the sea with a great view. The only constructive criticism is that some of the hotel is tired, the sun loungers/beds especially on the beach need replacing. Wooden frames are not good and the cushions seem dirty. Also the sand area around them has lots of cigarette butts and bottle tops etc. Restaurant staff are nice if you can get their attention. Food is good and comes quickly once ordered. Should give discount to guests to incentivise them to eat in house…

Could've done a little better.

Was a little disappointed with the services given, the staff weren't that friendly. It was a very old establishment with recently revamped rooms and facilities, and certain fixtures, and some furniture were dated. The breakfast spread was a little thin on choices, even less than the other bigger resort nearby in Kuantan. Maybe because it was rated as a 5-star hotel, my expectations were a little higher than average. The kids' playroom was utterly disappointing. It was so dim in the evening and was pretty rundown. The facilities were lacking, bean bags were dirty, and toys were broken. My kids even complained it was boring.

Hotel staffs are the only positive experience here. They're all super professionals and friendly. The hotel itself however looks tired and old. Need refurbishment urgently. Breakfast area is old and dingy. Food prepared weren't fresh looking, some just cold, noodles soup were way too salty, the fresh juice section just disgusting. Chef needs to put more passion in the food prep. For a Hyatt brand, the hotel is quite stingy with room amenities such as no bin liners for the bins? How much are you guys really saving in cost not to provide these?

On arrival, we decided to get lunch whilst waiting for our room to be ready. The manager of the restaurant was coughing and sputtering all over the food and drinks. Did not cover her mouth or try to be discreet. Her staff under her were reserved and not smiling.

On top of this, we had spring rolls, in which the sauce had plastic fibres throughout from a pastry brush or the like.

We made a complaint to the front desk, however the staff member was kept on duties although being sick. We were close to checking out of the hotel at this stage as we felt the hotel did not put our health as a priority.

Luckily the next morning, at breakfast, we were greeted by fadilah, whom had the warmest smile and beautiful greeting. She went over and beyond to explain different foods that we had not seen or tried before. Her staff around her were all happy, smiling and provided great service. A special mention to Marya, who also was so pleasant and provided great service (she remembered which coffee we had each morning, which is a nice personal touch).

I also would like to thank Harris in the pool bar who again went out of his way to make sure we had the drink we wanted. Great service.

Fadilah has shown to be a true leader. The encouragement she gives staff, the belief she has in her staff is amazing. Even when we thanked her directly for her service, she quickly replied that it is her whole team that make it happen.

Requested way in advance for adjoining room but not arranged. Booked 3 rooms but 1 room was on a different floor. We were not told the main door at lobby needs the door card. We used it in the afternoon we didnt need the room card. We were locked out at night. Asked the guard for help he couldnt, but he did walk to the front desk and spoke with someone who ignored totally. The breakfast place was packed, we requested foe the fan to be turned on. Only upon flaring up at the 4th request it was done. We saw others doing the same. Otherwise rooms were very clean.

In summary, a good value family hotel with large and expansive grounds and a choice of pools.

The pool water was not clear and well below a five star standard.

As it was school holidays the breakfast buffet was crowded with guests.

The staff, from reception to room attendants, were all friendly and helpful, and always greeted guests with a smile.

The buildings are dated now, however, for the price payed, I would recommend the hotel.

Beware of the monkeys out the front on the approach road. Guests need to be cautious of this troupe, as they show no fear of humans and can be aggressive if they feel threatened.

The towels, linen and curtains were dirty. The sofa had blood stains on it. Both rooms had mold in the AC and on the table. Despite requesting to have the rooms side by side, no action was taken to accommodate this. The lights in the rooms that were not working. The coffee ordered was cold. I made the difficult decision to leave the hotel early and was further disappointed when informed that a refund would not be granted for the rest of the stay.

I spent three nights here with family, specifically including club lounge access which we have been curious about for some time. The hotel is conveniently located right on the beach and has two different swimming pools which offered lots of options for spending time especially if you have a kid to entertain. There was also a recreation room onsite with kids' games which also came in useful.

The service was excellent. We felt so welcome there, with staff remembering our names and addressing every request in quick fashion. I had to request some food we had for my child to be reheated a few times, and once needing help with a toilet issue with our room. It was fixed within a half hour.

The club lounge access came with breakfast and evening canapes which became our dinner throughout the stay. Food options were good and we enjoyed the convenience.

The rooms had been recently refurbished and we were happy with everything provided. Maybe the only thing to improve would be to have a few more options for hanging towels in the bathroom and firmer pillow options.

Overall a very enjoyable stay and would love to come back one day.

Hotel itself and location are good, however both hotel and beach were very crowded-no longer a tranquil resort. Hotel needs additional pools - 2 small one’s constantly full with screaming kids. Lobby was the same - despite being lovely architecture and great staff, it had a bus station vibe with luggage and noisy kids everywhere.
We were disappointed as we stayed here in 1990 and had fond memories of a tranquil resort by a beautiful quiet beach. It’s not like that anymore.

For the size of the property (as it’s quite big) this is a really great hotel! The staff are amazing especially housekeeping who were fantastic! Loved the room and big comfy bed! the pools are really nice too and plenty of sun loungers either on beach or by pool. Only negatives were high alcohol prices! (Well over £5 for a small bottle of Asahi!!) reduce your prices and people will consume a little more ) bar was always empty! Also stop using tiny plastic shampoo bottles! No need - otherwise excellent place and lovely to relax in for a few days (beach is awesome too) and great for monkey spotting!

On the beach. got a room facing the sea. It was relaxing sitting the on balcony. Although they have reduced the front desk staff compared to previous hey day years but we still get our service in a timely manner. Still the ever friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and renovated. The buffet breakfast was great.
Please fix system between Expedia and Hyatt. In Expedia says breakfast is free but Hyatt system says no.
Expedia system did not mention about deposit of RM150/night eventhough it is fully prepaid and also the Pahang state sustainability charges was not mentioned.

My choice of stay whenever I'm in Kuantan. Every room comes with a balcony. Seaview room has always been my favourite as I love to wake up to the sunrise. Wide range of breakfast spread. Very friendly staffs at every corner. Pleasant stay indeed!

EXCELLENT!!!

This hotel was amazing. Situated right on the beach, which is beautiful and clean.
Room - big, comfortable and clean had a beautiful sea view
Restaurant - buffet breakfast which was unbelievably extensive. Catering for Western and Asian cuisine. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Pool - clean, quiet and only got busy in the late afternoon when we went to shower
Room service - excellent
Bar - pricey and the cocktails were lovely. As long as you don't go rogue and ask for something that's not specifically on the drinks menu. The Pina Colada was a curdled disaster!.
This was part of a 3 week traveling around Malaysia trip and we spent 5 days here. So this leg was our honeymoon that we didn't get last year. I would definitely stay here again ❤️

Good location but room for improvement

The location of the hotel was great. This was a return visit. My first visit was one month back, and I was staying in the main wing. The housekeeping did a good job in ensuring the room was clean and sufficient provision of toiletries were provided for 3 adults and the housekeeping was very responsive to customer need. We didn't have to wait long to request for item.

The experience this time round was different. We were staying in the back wing and the front desk told us that it was a renovated block. The booking was for 3 adults with an additional roll-on bed. The service rendered by the housekeeping was inadequate. Was provided with only toiletries meant for 1 adult when we checked into the room. After informing the front desk, we had to waited for an hour before the toiletries arrived. Such situation happened after each day of housekeeping. It was kind of disappointing for such a level of service from Hyatt.

The loudspeakers around the pool and dining area plays the same canned music throughout the day and at night they raise the volume. Not a place for peace and quiet. Turns a 4 star resort into a 2 star. The hand sanitisers were empty - if you could find one.

Under rated beach resort in Kuantan - loved it!

My first trip to Kuantan and was enhanced by my stay at the Hyatt. Very well maintained property and beautifully located by Teluk Chempedak. F&B also fairly priced and pretty good. Very short drive into town and also surrounded by shops and eateries yet still peaceful and serene. Great trip overall!
