Just had a 1 night stay here. Absolutely first class cannot recommend highly enough. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Especially Michelle who gave us some ideas of where to visit in the surrounding area. The rooms were exceptionally clean with fantastic views over open countryside to the sea. The food was faultless and cooked to perfection. This was our first visit with my little dog who was made so welcome. Will definitely be coming back for more.

For £90 for a family room with breakfast is excellent value. The room was clean and the staff were warm and welcoming and the breakfast was of incredible value. The shower wasn’t working, literally no running water from the shower head. There was a bath but it was tiny and with mucky boys not ideal. I couldn’t wash my hair due to the shower not working and this did affect our stay. However, £90 for a room and private bathroom with breakfast for 4 was great. Would have reviewed 5 star if shower working.

Our party booked prior to bad weather hitting & meaning we had to cancel our plans for onward travel.
We ended up altering our plans & stayed on at Purdy Lodge for a second night so as not to risk travelling in snow.
We were blown away by how helpful, kind, respectful & accommodating the team here are / were. From the second we arrived to check in, to when we came to leave.
The check in was friendly, efficient & informative. The room was well equipped, spacious and comfortable & it had a sea view! Over fields & all rooms have a countryside view, not that of the A1 out the front. Rooms are quiet through the night, although we did hear guests thunder past the room twice with no consideration for others, but this isn't any fault of the accommodation or staff.
This is a very dog friendly and genuinely welcoming place & our time in the dining area was made very comfortable with us and other guests in mind. For this we were so grateful, thank you.

As mentioned by most reviews - the rooms are rear facing and quiet. It’s has a cosmetic update in side so it feels clean and tidy. The beds were on the hard side or at least the bases and mattress need updating. Having worked for a major roadside hotel chain for 3 years I can confidently say it’s well kept and clean. Pillow protectors and mattress covers were in use which is a huge bonus. Room 6 the bathroom extract was non existent so you’ll need the windows open after a shower. Overall excellent offering at a great price

Myself and my wife were given the disabled room( maybe only option?). It was adequate but we compared to our friends room which was nicer. Only there for one night so no issues. Staff very friendly and polite. Food was excellent with good service amd selection. Hotel location was ideal for exploring Northumberland visitor centres and attractions. Only criticism was the bathroom. Being two pensioners we found using the shower in the bath very difficult. We now can only use a cubicle shower to.bath. The mininium requiement for being able to use the shower in the hotel is for a \"hand rail\" be fitted to the wall to help getting in.and out of bath? I heard other pensioners / customers complain about how difficult it was to shower!! Best solution please replace baths with cubicle showers!!!

A Good clean well run roadside hotel.
Six of us were travelling up to Scotland and booked 3 rooms for one night. We all thought that the rooms were very clean and comfortable with amazing views across to Bamborough. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room was most welcome after a long drive. We ate at the restaurant which had a very good menu, the food was very good and well presented and reasonably priced. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful too. I would happily recommend Purdy Lodge without hesitation.

Very convenient for travelling around the area as it’s on the A1. No noise from the road or much from other rooms. Staff all very friendly and breakfast good. Only niggle is bed very soft and squeaky when moving around but other people might like a soft mattress.

Drain Smell
On walking in room 7 there was a terrible smell even though the window was fully open. I walked back to reception and explained the smell was bad in the room and asked for another room. Was given a key for room 5. Room didn't have the awful smell of the other room and although was basic and a bit tired looking we settled into room. After an hour we went for an evening meal in the restaurant which was ok. We then returned to the room only to open the door and be hit with the same awful smell that had been in the other room! Was coming from the bathroom so we shut the toilet lid, blocked up the sink hole and put a towel over the shower drain. Couldn't get rid of the smell but as it was quite late we just stayed in the room hoping the smell would go, window was fully open. The smell didn't go, it was smelly all night but did start to go when we woke around 6am. Didnt sleep well mainly due to smell and having to have window open quite wide. Must of been a problem with the drains. We ended up leaving hotel by 6.30am and did'nt bother with breakfast as we were fed up. With hindsight we should of requested a refund and gone elsewhere. Lady on reception was friendly enough but smell really spoilt our stay.

Hotel is fine for the price, staff are good and it is clean and well ran, the only thing is the noise from other rooms, all the doors seem to bang shut at all hours and people having conversations in the corridors at 4am didn’t help

Surprisingly quiet despite being off the A1 the front of the property is a corridor to the rooms which offers sound protection from the A1 .

Don,t be put off by the inclusion of services in the address. It's a lovely site with everything you need. Its location is great for exploring nearby sites such as Babburgh and Holy Island. Recommended.
