A mixed review - great location and lovely staff. Arrived to a twin room rather than a double as booked but reception got this sorted very quickly. There was a Christmas party so we were not able to have dinner in the hotel Olympia suite which was part of the reason we booked the hotel so disappointing. We were also not able to have breakfast at the time we wanted due to the large party only giving the options of 8:30am or 10am which was a shame. The room itself was nice, very basic but was fine for one night. The bathroom was basic however the bath and shower were not clean thankfully only there for one night so avoided having a shower due to the cleanliness issue. Duvet was very heavy meaning it was very hot overnight so neither of us had a good night sleep. Such a shame about the negatives as it was such a good location and the staff were very pleasant

The room was old and a bit dated. Clean but with old stains in the sink and mismatched devans etc. The room was quiet and the bed comfy. The bathroom was very small but functional. There should be a warning sign over the hot water tap as it was actually scalding hot. Breakfast was fine but the cooked selection cold and the eggs rubbery.

Staff - really friendly and helpful.
Breakfast - first class, beautifully served in fantastic and well maintained surroundings.
Parking - just fine.
Trivial minor problems which doubtless would have been fixed if we'd stayed more than one night - door lock floppy, one bedside light not working as hadn't been plugged in under the (immovable) bed, which was, incidentally, extremely comfortable.
The dining room, with related photos in the corridors, was truly memorable.

Motorcycle Tourists - Northumberland 250

On arrival, the reception staff could not have been more helpful, having kept suitable parking reserved for our expensive motorcycles.
Booking in was warm, friendly and efficient.
The hotel was cold. We wore our Coats in the dining room for evening meal and breakfast.
My mattress had a sink in the middle and bowed to the middle. I didn't sleep well - which is why we were there, to sleep. 5 of us wee on a motorcycle touring holiday and we needed good sleep in order to ride the following day.
The bathroom had a musty smell from under neath the floor.
The staff were great, gentle, good humoured and very customer focussed.
The public area were very well decorated, were clean and spacious.

Small attic room, hot with little airflow, needed a fan. Room and bathroom good sizes, overlooking the front high street so some noise overnight. Free parking onsite and in two public car parks at the rear of the hotel. Breakfast in the Olympic suite was good and plentiful in a very grand setting!!

We stayed for our Anniversary trip and I booked the Olympic suite restaurant and wasn’t disappointed, fabulous food, wonderful attentive staff who couldn’t do enough for us , room was fantastic comfortable beds and pillows , bed was enormous, we had a bath and shower and tea making facilities, everything was within walking distance, lovely few days would certainly go back and a great choice , my only negative was parking which can spoil your experience and made arrival for us very stressful

All the staff were lovely but the room was unremarkable, dated and worn looking. I’d consider it greatly overpriced. The cooked breakfast was very limited for a vegetarian. I had only beans, mushrooms and tomato because all other options were meat! Good location in the town centre though.

We stayed here en-route back from Scotland to Essex, primarily because we knew the S.S. Olympic First Class Lounge was here & we would be having breakfast in there! A unique experience it was. Good breakfast, too.

The room itself was on the first floor & overlooked shops/pubs. Was a bit noisy with traffic up to a certain time & we heard a commotion coming from outside a pub. No air conditioning - we were there in a heatwave. Small double bed. It was OK, but nothing special.

Alnwick itself is a lovely market town.

Grand old building , room clean and tidy , excellent night’s sleep . Breakfast good loved the timed sit down . Significant problem in that to ensure right mix of tables, all through the meal tables were being dismantled rolled out to a storage room and others replaced and set . A bit like breakfast whilst refurbishment on going .

Step back in time with a titanic dining experience

Nice hotel in good location. Superb dining room with the famous historic panelling making it feel very special. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Room was fine and showed some signs of needed a refurb but didn’t detract from our stay. Set menu was a little limiting but good.

The hotel is well placed in the middle of Alnwick. However when we entered our room it was 'tired' . The double bed had passed it's sell by date and was extremely lump. The double duvet was within a super king sized duvet cover and wasn't as warm as we had hoped. The vanity table where the kettle stood has had a lot of water damage and the TV was set on a chest of drawers right in front of the mirror. The bathroom floor was not good with a lot of dirt and hair that was not ours, so we cleaned that with some damp toilet paper. Anyone staying in room 126 will notice immediately that the bottom of the bath was rusty and the shower control very stiff. We each had a shower on arrival as we were at a reception at Alnwick Gardens and after my wife had a shower the folllowing morning the soap dispenser had run out. We really should have stayed at the Premier Inn out of town!!! Breakfast was all cooked on heater trays and all that was out was apparently all there was and it had sat there some time. No staff on duty when we left to discuss issues with so left key at reception. A poor experience which will not be repeated.

Communal areas were very good but our room was in desperate need of updating. Stains on the ceiling and paper patched up on ceiling.
Hidden charges if you eat or drink in the hotel which should be pointed out when paying for drinks or food.
Hotel is in a perfect location for exploring the area around.

The dining room decor was amazing taken from the ship Olympic. Linen tablecloths changed after every meal. The staff were friendly and super efficient and the food was excellent.
The bedroom decor was tired and room servicing was below par, water glasses not cleaned.
The bar staff were not always available and when we went for a nightcap after the theatre the bar was shut at just 10pm

An old property which can look a bit tired in places but has some lovely features such as the Olympic Suite dining room.
Breakfast on our first morning was waiter service with an excellent choice. I had the oak smoked haddock with poached eggs which was an excellent choice.
Second morning was a different experience with no menu and a hot buffet with poor choice and cold plates.
Our bedroom was comfortable and spacious with plentiful tea and coffee facilities and lovely fluffy towels.
Pleasant staff throughout the hotel.
Our room 121, was a long walk from reception and there was no lift so would have been unsuitable fore some
All in all we considered the hotel to be good value for money and would stay there again if in the area ☺️

Very friendly & relaxed atmosphere great to see it busy had DB&B at a great price last night & the old dinning room was full. Basic British fare not really our taste but ideal for the coach trip in. The room 209 was modern small , however there was an almightly stench from the drains, not able to move rooms due to a wedding, had to stay one night but cancelled the rest of the stay, staff tried their hardest to be accommodating and arranged a refund. The hotel and food was of a good standard otherwise. Shame about the room.

All the reception,bar and restaurant was amazing,such a lovely old building,however the rooms are very dated and could be cleaner,the windows are black around the frame,especially in bathroom,the shower curtain was still wet and yellow round bottom,so hadn't been changed,it all just needs a good clean.i dont mind old,but keep it clean

The hotel was just as described and you can see why its a 3 star. Our room 123 was an executive room but quite tired. Needs a spruce up to make it worth the money. Bed was very comfortable though nice clean sheets always good.

The plus points - the dining room is beautiful. The down side was that the hotel was extremely over priced for the condition of the 'standard' room that we were allocated, which was small with very tired dacor. The Hotel is in need of a complete overhaul of its plumbing, the shower never drained properly, then on the final night the toilet wouldn't drain. We were moved to a 'Superior' room which turned put to have the same drainage problem with its shower.
In the 1st room towels had to be used to stop the overflow from the shower reaching the room. Despite the issue being reported several times the fault was not resolved and the wet towel were never removed.
Overall a very disappointing experience. For the price we paid you would expect a 'Superior' room with fully functioning facilities.

Hotel is nice my only negative is that they don’t except cash anywhere in the hotel not at checkout not in restaurant and not even in the bar.
We had a family room on the top floor which was big bright & spacious shower was very good plenty hot water. We had bottles of water biscuits tea coffee milk kettle ironing board.
Couldn’t fault our room.

Breakfast was excellent lots of cereals yogurts fresh fruits etc plus the usual bacon eggs sausage etc.

Worth staying there for the dining room alone. Although the hotel said it had car parking, there were very few spaces and the majority of guests parked in a free public car park behind the hotel. However, you could only park for 24 hours and couldn't return within 4 hours.
